I like a lot that Advent use the innocent dead to blame to Xcom for not following the Elders. This end is more sad that we see here, the Elders are going to go with her massive military force, because they are fleen from something, and the Avatar Proiect is litearlly psionish but with Humands, only 3 races can use psi, energy the Sectoid, the Elders and Humands with a big will. The Elders only whats the key to conmvert all of the races to a psionish to fight that unkwon enemy. In the end of the XCOM EU one of the Elders tells you that all of the aliens where originally conquered, and then added to the army with the Elders on the top. In this scenario the a version of a humand will be added to the army, one that we can se in Xcom 2, the regular troops of Advent.
Yeah since xcom enemy unknown, xcom 2 and then the next xcom are all based on the og games we're defo gonna go to that sunken ship the templars are drawn to at the end of the good ending. But whatever the eldars are running from are defo hinting at a 4th installment of the game that will be 100% new and not based on any previous xcoms ;)
Tough to answer, Theory one: The uber ethereal as well as all the others were all in stasis by the time of the events in X-COM 2 due to their rapidly deteriorating bodies. Hence the avatar project to try and make new hybrid vessels for themselves. Theory two: The uber ethereal never existed, the events of the winning timeline in X-COM 1 are a simulation being run by the aliens through the commander which they are using to take over earth. X-COM 1 is essentially you, captured by the aliens, playing through the simulation. This is supported by the footage Dr Tygan shows you when he's explaining that you have been in a simulation, which is just X-COM 1 gameplay. Theory three: The ethereals and elders are different beings. "We who failed to ascend, as they thought we would." - the uber ethereal. This could mean many different things, including that there simply are no such things as ethereals in X-COM 2 because the elders arrived without them, or that the last ethereals had decayed by the time X-COM 2 rolled around and the elders are left bodyless... Just a few thoughts of mine.

Nah, it's more like 75%, if you mind control one of them you'll see that their base accuracy is not that high.

That's the plot-twist of the game. The elders don't want to end humanity, they want to prepare it for a bigger threat that is coming.
