Had a discussion with some of my HS classes about social media and the topic of Andrew Tate always came up. Many students laughed at his name and seemed to take him as a harmless joke. Comforting until I think about being a late teen, online in 2014-16. I just don't believe people take him seriously. All it requires is meeting a real girl in the wild to recognize how repulsed she gets when you behave that way. And if they like her, they don't want to see her being bullied, that's not our nature. At least the majority of us, thankfully. And imagine what a beta move it is to have a girl over and she sees on your laptop you're paying for classes on how to be a man, and it's taught by a silly looking goblin MFer doing a cartoony British accent like he was trying to sell cereal to children.

This wisdom needs to be spread more. This is why laughing at certain things isnt ok. Why certain jokes cross a line. Even if you know its wrong there'll be someone out there that this insanity is feeding their dark wolf. Not everyone has the self awareness to know how the things we see affect us on a deeper level.

I'm a GenX man, and Phil is the primary media outlet I rely on to give me insight into a much younger zeitgeist. This vid is my first alert of the existence of Tate.
His phenomenon brings attention to a MAJOR problem we have as the two predominant sexes are equalizing their power in an increasingly automated world.
Women, as a group, seem to have MUCH less respect for the First Amendment, because they "feel" hurtful words at a level closer to physical harm than men. And I don't think that's simply cultural training ... I think it's a difference in brain wiring, like heterosexuality vs homosexuality.
I have no interest in living in a world where women get to decide what topics are off-limits. I think personalities like Tate are taking advantage of male anxiety that they are increasingly expected to keep their mouths shut. Male insticts are, when someone slaps you on the cheek, you punch them back in the mouth.
Tate is obnoxious, and not someone I would want to call my friend ... but he is also not a criminal.

A child and a dog are both completely reliant on their parents or their owners. An adult woman is fully capable of taking care of herself without the intervention of a man. The comparison is invalid. Oh, and also, if your dog doesn't obey you, you are still responsible for it. If it bites someone, you are still liable. Maybe you should train your goddamn pets and trust your partners to be autonomous beings.

Teachers have to buy their own supplies for the same reason we tip servers in the USA. They're underpaid and not cared about, useless servants to society who we don't value. That's why we tip, because society doesn't value waitstaff in general, or they'd make sure they're paid right. To counter this with teachers, tip them. Start tipping your teachers and this burden won't be so bad.

@@98areece oh you see my point clearly, there's a plethora of issues with tipping culture. I just figured I'd take the cheap shot at tipping in general while I had a perfect example why tipping is bad. We should instead not tip, we should fight, literally tooth nail and bullets, to ensure our education is taken seriously and funded properly. The biggest issue with tipping your teachers is that then teachers wages can be drastically cut further. We really need to get rid of tipping completely and pay our servants and educators what they're worth. Without education we wouldn't be smart enough to rip off our teachers, so let's do the smarterer thing and pay them properly. But... I'm just a nerd that likes learning and doesn't like sports so I say we take sports money away and put it towards education.

Part of the problem with Tate is the algorithm. There's so many social media platforms that have gotten too big to be handled by people that you just have programs running and promoting stuff. The people in charge need to take a hard look at what is on their platform and what is being spread.
Besides that, can we get some federal level investigations in on him? Putting him in jail seems like a good solution and a good lesson to teach impressionable young men. "If you beat and abuse women, you go to jail". Also see if there's any violations from his college scheme. Can he be sued for it?
You're not going to win in a moral debate about him. Most people have their heels dug in where they are already. Some parents are teaching their kids to be respectful to women, and some aren't for any number of reasons, from not being aware of what their kids watch, to not caring, to there being no parental figure at all.
If possible, work with the creators of tik tok to platform him, make his videos appear less, and run counter messaging debunking his claims.
At the end of the day, he's a fucking clown. A dangerous one, but still a clown. Most the shit that came out of his mouth can be disproved. For example, he doesn't think a women can kill him? There's whole fucking tv shows about how people have committed actual murders, some of the perpetrators were women.
He's a clown that's easy to debunk. Destroy his credibility, and get him sued or locked up if possible.

Credibility means jack shit to his followers. Look at Alex Jones, or Donald Trump: caught in lie after bald-faced lie, but their followers could care less. Hell, look at flat earthers: you could present them with mountains of evidence showing how the Earth's surface curves, or even literally take one to space, and they still wouldn't believe. The lie is more important than finding the truth.

Make content that counters his, without directly starting a flame war, and let the audience decide for themselves what is worth their time. What;s concerning about Tate is that he's capitalising off of what's already there.
Ignoring him isn’t doing anything. Neither does focusing on him. Really, he’s more a symptom of a bigger issue than the issue himself. For a couple of years now, people have been trying to shed a light on the manosphere, this big network of men like Tate (to varying levels) on various social media platforms proliferating these views. They work essentially to create a pipeline to the deepest levels of bigotry, first starting out with the type of content that has plausible deniability and people start getting recommended more and more extreme stuff by the algorithms.
These social media platforms probably aren’t gonna do anything meaningful to address something that makes them money. We’ve seen this with other concerns about how certain platforms harm young people’s mental health.
What we can do it look at the culture that allows someone like Tate to thrive. A lot of the boys and men that watch him did not develop misogyny from him or others in the manosphere. They gravitated towards what validated their feelings and then were directed deeper into more violent and hateful versions of what they already bought into to a degree.
This is the same culture that sees women who point out sexism get harassed to hell and back on these platforms. The culture that has resulted in so many women that have come forward about sexual assault and harassment towards powerful men either being dismissed or attacked with people saying that those women only want money, clout or to take down a powerful man, even if history has showed us that those women’s lives often get ruined amid mountains of harassment, threats to their safety and smear campaigns.
Men and boys who are misogynistic (to whatever degree) are less likely to listen to women and queer people telling them what’s wrong with it. Other men can still talk to their peers, call out problematic behaviour and sentiments when they see it, and publically support those standing up against misogyny because it’s not just a women’s issue. A lot of men, especially young ones, take cues from other men. And people who are more severely misogynistic started out getting more bold because they could get away with it in their spaces. No one meaningfully challenged or held them accountable. Even times people in their proximity saying they’re against those views and behaviours but choosing to remain silent. Silence in the face of oppression and prejudice is what allows it to thrive. It’s the oxygen that fuels the fire.

I understand that, completely where you’re coming from, I think there are people that completely agree or disagree, to his views on topics, there needs to be a neural, it all depends on the context, like you mentioned the opposite of what Andrew says can also be true, there are people out there, it’s all in the name of choice, but on some occasions the choices cannot be changed, as people decide to settle on that choice, only thing people can do is speak, but actually taking action, is a lot more work.

I'm so lucky to be in a California district that actually provides everything for teachers we even got an email telling us to please "DON'T" donate school supplies but instead bring tissues, hand sanitizer and wipes for the kids that is super basic and always welcomed to keep the class room clean, the school also has a uniforms only $15 dollars for a Polo and $10 for a regular t-shirt, they also have free meals for every kid all tho we don't take advantage of that my daughter takes her own lunch, but I imagine that is amazing for a lot of families, it breaks my heart to know how hard it's is for so many teachers, so I help when ever I can.

That’s how it was at all my schools too in California! I was in school at the capistrano unified school district. Public school wasn’t bad at all for me. All my friends who’d experienced both didn’t notice any significant difference lol. Guess when people talk about, “Location, location, location.” , it can be pretty true.
My aunt and uncle were Southern California natives, then they moved to the south for their eldest son’s football career and they missed him. They’re in Florida, it’s been a couple years, then I go to live there in 2016 since my mom missed them and wanted to move there. and they’re drinking cocktails, eating dinner, and screaming at the tv, “Those fucking Libs…” blah blah blah and I was shocked at how different they’d become.
Nothing changed about their family, jobs, etc. they just moved to Florida and like the snap of two fingers, my aunt and uncle (and 3 cousins) who I’d also otherwise literally seen almost every single day for half my life bc they lived across the street from the elementary and middle school. They changed so much it scared me. It’s like they were angry at air, lol… idk. I tried to give it a good shot but I moved back after 9 months. My mom followed a month or two after. Lesson learned!

This is honestly low-hanging-fruit from a humanitarian perspective. It's the same as any other illegal con, just on a different scale. And the people at the top are sociopaths or psychopaths pretty much 100% of the time. The excuse is always that it's hard to make that determination, but that's laughable considering how obvious it is to anyone who understands pyramid schemes.

Myself being disabled, we have to make choices and plan ahead for all the costs. Also having two kids of our own, the cost of supplies and clothing to get the kids back to school is mind blowing. I don’t get how some folks can do it, I know we struggle and find what we can cheaply to help her school. I just wish people made education funding a priority. Without teachers, none of us would be where we are today. If my wife didn’t have great teachers growing up, she might of not pursued teaching. We all know you don’t go into teaching for the money, but to hopefully help raise a better generation of kids. Its one of the few jobs that you continue to have to pay for university credits out of your own pocket to keep your license up to date, but your income doesn’t increase in the way other jobs do with the level of education you have. I think the problem "growing in the darkness" like you said is exactly what happens and ignoring it is just letting it fester. I think a lot of the time the outcome is based on how it's approached, just reacting to it and disagreeing is just going to fuel the fire as much as ignoring it will. But i think trying as hard as you can to educate your audience that his mindset is flawed and predatory (not just towards women but the young men he's targeting to bolster his fame) and will ultimately lead to more unhappiness and unrest to those who follow his ideals is, in my opinion, the least harmful way of dealing with people like that
