We were driving through WY on the interstate on a wintery November day. The day had been cold and overcast and a fresh snow covered everything. As we drove Pentatonix was singing this song on the radio and we crested a huge hill that overlooked a gorgeous landscape, and simultaneously the sun peeked under the clouds for the first time of the day. It was a glorious moment and this has been my favorite song since. I purchased this arrangement of this song to play on the piano. It will take me a few years to play it this beautifully! It's in 6/8 time, 90 beats per dotted quarter note. I can play it at 30 right now. It's going to take a while!
Yes!!! Finally the whole song. Listened to the short one you posted around Christmas, but now I don’t have to listen to 40 seconds anymore. Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent
On June 11, 2001, I was sitting at the Bass Hall in Ft. Worth, TX, when it was announced that two pianists, Olga Kern, 26, of Russia and Stanislav Ioudenitch, 29, of Uzbekistan, would share the first place prize in the world famous Tchiakowsky competition, the first time two contestants ever would receive the same award. THEN, in a truly historical moment, it was announced that the second place winner was Maxim Philippov, 29, of Russi, and one of the judges, with a faltering voice, took the stage and said that there would be ANOTHER second place winner, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, 26, of Italy! No bronze medal would be awarded. The competition was that close! The contestants were that good! So there were two ground-breaking decisions and there would be two gold medals and two silver medals awarded!!! I had been there for days, watching every moment, wondering who had my vote, conflicted as to who should win because of so much excellence. My heart was beating furiously as the competition was coming to a close and the winners were being chosen. I could not stand the thought of anyone losing! And when the announcements were made, I leaned forward and burst into tears. It could not have been more perfect. I felt the very same way just now when I heard your Hallelujah. What magnificence! What glory given to God! What a hallelujah! What a work of art! What a performance! Chills. Awe. Wonder. Spirit. Strength. Purpose. Tears. Movement. Joy. Tenderness. Sunlight. Oh what a moment in time. A celebration of all that is good. God is praised. Thank you, Jonny May.
Each time I watch any of your videos, always comes to me the same idea: This man has something special. Many professional pianists on RUclips, but you transmit very good sensations while playing. Don't know if it will be because of the years you've spent at Disney... but it's impossible to stop watching your videos. I follow you also on Spotify! Jonny you're the best!!
Incredible, emotional and talented. That's Jonny May. Never failed me, never! Music is great specially when you're playing it. I wish you all the best. You are a living legend. Keep on going!
I've always had an interest in playing piano but in my teen years I moved to pop punk and metal then out grew those genres I went more rock and blues i then in recent years gained an interest in violin and watch videos of Johnny at Disneyland regained my interest in piano im still saving up to get a digital piano Thankyou johnny for all your amazing videos
This man is the modern day Chopin for me great improvisation on a great song wow Brilliant he builds and builds the harmony I can feel Beatiful light in Jonnys playing Magnificent.❤
If you think it’s too fast for this piece, change your playback speed to .75! I personally like the arrangement, but I enjoy it a bit more at .75. Well done Mr. May! Beautifully played Sir.
Hey Jonny May. I've been playing the piano for 7 months now and ever since I started playing I've loved the piano over everything else. On a usual day I play for about two or three hours but if I really get into it I may even play for five or six hours. I play classical music the most i.e. Mozart and Beethoven but I love to try new styles and modify the songs I know if I feel a bit wacky. Anyways I have an entrance exam to a music school in about 2 weeks, I'm going to be play the Turkish march by Mozart and Für Elise by beethoven, and I really wish that I'd get into that school because I want to learn more about music, to sway deeply into its theory and history, I find them so exquisitively interesting and intriguing. I really love this cover by you, I love to listen to it even though it's not classical and the feeling that I get from your talented and experienced playing is just heavenly and so motivating. Thank you for this video. Best regards from a newly-born pianist from Finland. God bless your soul.
Lauri Kivekäs Thanks Lauri! Keep up the hard work. Pursuing music is one of the most joyful things that we can do. It's hard work, but in time, it will pay off. I know your practice a lot - be patient. It's a long journey and you'll have many ups and downs. But it's all worth it if you stick through 💪
If ur into classical music then try chopin. For me the best classical composer to evrr live. And there are some easy pieces that about as difficult as the turkish march. You should really give it a go :)
Thanx for posting this for the Easter weekend, Jonny. Honestly, I do not think anyone can top this Hallelujah cover, piano, voice, or any other instrument. All best....
So glad to see you uploading again! Anyone can play precise notes but to see you play with such passion for your craft is truly a treat! Please can you do some La La Land music???
WOW! Fab! How have you only got 150k subs?! You should have about 2 million! Keep doing vids on RUclips, please! I would love to see some more classic Disney tunes. Thank-you for making this video!

I was only a beginner and in less than a matter of two years Jonny has made me an intermediate. This also helped me coming out of my depression ! ❤

Jonas Nebel The next piece that I'm interested in learning is actually a waltz by chopin.
Lauri Kivekäs which one is it?
