God Bless you and your family as you endure this heartbreaking loss. But know he is with Christ and you will be reunited with him for eternity. This is 100% true. He would want you to give yourself sometime then continue living. With my deepest condolences, Maddie
This isn't even performance, this is an old man testifying, it's a lament over a lifetime of experience and regret. It's a hymn to the sacred and profane. It's utterly sublime, the highest of high art.
Mr. Cohen was a tortured soul while here on Earth; suffering extreme prolonged bouts of depression. So, I sincerely say: Thank you for the beautiful music and rest in peace Leonard.
Agreed. I could always relate to him because I feel the same way...a tortured soul.... I am a very reflective person, an idealist which makes it hard for me to be in this place call life..the planet.. Years ago I watched his DVD in Tibet, must have watched it 20+ times trying to gain understanding.. I often revisit his clips on his honest dialog about living with depression ... I trust that death is easier than living... living is hard.... Hope he is resting...
The world has lost giant, a genius, and a fine man. Leonard Cohen, aged 82 passed away, apparently today. He was best known as a composer, but also wrote novels and numerous poetry collections. Most people will remember him popularly as the composer of this song, "Hallelujah", covered by many artists, and used in a number of popular films, including "Shrek", "Meet Joe Black", and television's "E.R.". For me, music I've enjoyed by a particular artist evokes the fond memories that come with the memory of that person, or others you enjoyed the music with, Leonard Cohen's rendition of "Hallelujah" with over 41 million views, a very popular rendition. Rest in peace and Shalom, Mr. Cohen, your music made me think of you as a friend, though we never met. You will live on in the memories of millions of people. The memory of you will be as a blessing for many.
John Mood Amen to that. I once had the honour of seeing him live and he was every bit of the legend he was made out to be - the best live concert ever. A great poet and voice. Thank you for the music and thank you for the words, Mr. Cohen. We will miss you, but we won't forget.
was introduced to Mr. Cohen's music when a friend's father took us to his him perform at Massey Hall in Toronto. I must have bee about 17 or 18 yrs old. As soon as he started singing in left my chair in the 1st balcony and sat on the stair....chin in my hands just mesmerized by his presence voice and gentle manner, that hid a lion. RIP Leonard Cohen.....you had and continue to have a profound influence on my life! With most heartfelt gratitude.....thank you for sharing your great gift.
My husband bought tickets for us to see Leonard Cohen in Milwaukee for Valentine's Day in 2013. It is one of my favorite memories. My husband died on May 20, 2021 and my world will never be the same.
I.am in France, i dont speak english but your message as touch my heart; i wish you the best for your future, may be il will be better that you think now 🥰
Do not stand at my gave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow.I am the sunlight On the ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn’s rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rushof quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night.Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die.My Spirit is still alive…
Leonard Cohen despite his fame, didnt have much money. When he was in Australia during our catastrophic bushfires a few years ago, he donated every cent he was paid to the Bushfire Appeal. NO fuss, no publicity, he just did it. RIP Great Man.
As a Jew and a great human being he did what usually is done by Jewish people, give Tzedaka.... always give wherever is needed and to whoever needs it. AM ISRAEL HAI.
I’ve heard this song many times from different performers but none can ever top this one by Leonard Cohen. So much passion and feelings in his voice, thank you for this Beautiful Legacy! Rest in Peace! ❤️🙏🏼✝️
So long, Leonard.
Hallelujah (qui signifie « louer Yah ») est une chanson écrite par Leonard Cohen. Elle est enregistrée pour la première fois sur son album de 1984 intitulé Various Positions.
Today, my uncle died. now how is this even relevant to L. Cohen? Leonard Cohen was his favorite singer. He had grown up in the hippy era, saw the rise of metal, the apparition of Edm, and many more. But none of these genres brought him to a blissful joy like Leonard Cohen did, when he discovered him a few years ago, following his stroke. He had become a frail man after that incident, but Cohen's music gave him so much joy in his painful life. he introduced me to Leonard Cohen, and now that he's gone, I now realise the amazing work this singer does. Thank you uncle Michel, thank you for everything and especially, thank you for making me rediscover Leonard Cohen.
+J Schmitz ...all you got from this heartfelt post was to 'correct' realize? He very well could be from Great Britain where they still use an s instead of a z....get over yourself
She passed 36 yrs ago, the love of my life. There are times I fall into the abyss of desperation. This song helps to put my feet back on the ground. Till MY death us do part. Thank you Leonard Cohen.
I doubt Leonard Cohen would be anything other than amused by all the debate about Judaism vs. Christianity. I think his great genius as a poet is the way in which he combines the religious and the secular in his metaphors and images. This "metaphysical" (ref. 17th century poets like John Donne) integration of the sacred and the profane relies first of all on his really intimate knowledge of the Hebrew bible. I have been a Cohen fan for as long as he's been around and I still am. Read some of the very early poems. Just brilliant. If you haven't watched k.d. lang singing this one, with him in the audience, I recommend it. Thank you, Mr. Leonard Cohen.
I'm not a religious person, so I don't think I like or dislike someone based on that. I like Leonard because of the way he uses words. And, well, he has a great voice...
100% agree. His words are wonderful. Who knows (or cares) what his religious beliefs are? But he is steeped in a tradition that values words and learning and has provided him with a bottomless supply of images which he uses to their best advantage. And I love his voice.
+Joe Martin It has a great deal of religious connotations. The opening is a description of King David writing psalms, the second verse has references to both David and Samson, and the line "Lord of Song" has very clear religious imagery behind it.
Thank you Dean for intelligent commentary rather than unnecessary personal attacks by others. Through personal channels I have been told that he was extremely intelligent and I believe, as you said, that he would be amused. I would still love to discuss it with him.
Leonard Cohen's music has been a part of my entire adult life. I was 21, in 1971, when I heard him for the first time. He touched my heart and my soul, from the very beginning.
A ton of musicians sing his songs, his lyrics rhyme and makes sense, a rarity in a lot of music. Been a listener of his music for many years also. Not all Christians would approve of some of his music. 😊😊
@@kenritola1086 I don't know what religion has to do with it, but the type of "Christian" who would reject beautiful, sensitive music that defines the human condition doesn't have a functioning heart and is just using religion as a shield to hide his judgmentalism.
@@pricklypear7516 I was mostly referring to some of his other work. I have 7 or 8 of his songs on my playlist. The lryics of some would be offensive to most christians, which means nothing to me, I merely was commenting not judging. I love this guy and his work.
I can understand from whence you're coming from. This IS a beautiful music noted song. When I'm reading the lyrics I've come to wonder just what his lyrics mean to him. I would enjoy/love to hear from him about this.
In my first year English class at UBC in 1969, the prof let us choose the poet we studied. We chose Leonard ... and his poetry has lived with me ever since. I went through a few vinyl copies if his albums. God bless Leonard for eternity
Yes, he died the day before the election when Trump the crazy-making machine was elected. Now 8 years later we are at the crossroads again. Kamala Harris is my choice and I am ready for a new chapter! Please send us all the help you can from above, Leonard!
Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" is a song full of depth and ambiguity. With poetic metaphors, it explores the complexity of love and being human. It explores the highs and lows of interpersonal relationships. Romance and passion go hand in hand with disappointment and loss. Spiritual and biblical motifs reflect the search for meaning and transcendence. "Hallelujah" is an ode to the contradictory nature of our feelings - joy and pain, ecstasy and doubt. Cohen looks compassionately at our longings and our vulnerability. The song is an appeal to embrace life in all its facets. He invites us to face the darkness and yet sing of the light. From loss can come gratitude, from doubt can be born faith. The timeless resonance of "Hallelujah" lies in this multi-layered message. Every person can find something of their own in it, draw comfort and hope. A moving hymn to the beauty and pain of being human
What an astounding writer, you are❤. It is sad to say that I can't even fine words to pin you😪. Your depth and expression of life and its intent by Mr Cohen lyrics were just AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!!❤❤❤ PLEASE KEEP WITING! 0:12 0:12 0:12
Leonard sings his great song in a fervent, heartfelt, beautiful way! Such a brilliant songwriter and singer, his unique music and voice will ring and resonate forever! ❤
Hallelujah was written by Leonard Cohen, a great Canadian from Montreal. It was one of the greatest gifts he could give the world as it is performed all over the world. Cohen now rests in peace back in his beloved Montreal.
I have been so sad about the terrible things happening in the world. I listened to this song and it lifted me up. Thank you to Leonard Cohen for the wonderful words and music. The whole world needs to sing this.
I cried the day Leonard died. This may be the finest piece of music combined with extraordinary poetry ever written. And this performance is his finest. I watch/listen at least once a week. Blessed be.
I may have posted this before, but notice what he does before the organ solo: he takes off his hat and looks toward the organist. He doesn't put his hat back on until the solo is over. Pure class.

@Institutional Psychopathy Taking his hat off and looking at the organist is a sign of respect. Cohen's the big star of the concert, but here he shows respect for one of the other performers.
@Institutional Psychopathy i think you are right, but it can also be a sing of respect 😉 maybe he was sweeting under this Hut so he had to take it off for a while🤣 cheeers
The words are beautiful, always were. His heartfelt rendition are beyond it, we're the lucky ones who have them immortalized for us to listen to. Another traveler has moved on.
Exactly. Cohen didn't have best voice ever. His voice was very imperfect. But he was singing really emotionally and deep - that made awesome effect! In my opinion - there is no cover better than that song, even if cover is sung technically better! :D
There are very few male vocalists who can give me goosebumps not to mention tears to my eyes. That in my opinion is the mark of a true singer. What one must do is determine for oneself what constitutes a "good voice". It's not just technical ability, it is primarily where that voice is coming from.
Probably because dawg disagrees with your opinion, and feels that you shouldn't be allowed one. That attitude is rampant in today's society. I too, disagree with you completely, but nevertheless, feel that you have the right to be wrong, lol.
His original version in 1984 sounds different, but he kept working with it and found the song in time. This version is my favorite and better than the hundreds of covers that have been made. I believe most of those performers don't understand the real meaning. Leonard said this isn't a joyful song, but it comes from a sadder place with a certain amount of resilience to still rejoice even when the spirit is broken.
Richard Burchett That's my definition of a happy song! Be attuned with the experienc of grace no matter the circumstances. But I've been around six decades so far. That's what I learned.
What's amazing to me is understanding how magical this is. Not ever have listened to him or this type of music I was automatically being turned off by his style of singing but something kept me here confused. I was feeling chills and by the second minute in totally lost in the song and this is my favorite version and I'm glad I found this. RIP Cohen. You gained yet another life long fan that will help guide your music to eternity.
I always encourage venturing outside of one's comfort zone for music... While there is some stuff that is just crap, there is a lot of heart and soul that is universal out there in many genres. A lot of life's truth to be had. The recent upsurgence of The Sound of Silence due to the Disturbed cover comes to mind... Pointing people to the original by Simon and Garfunkel, which is an amazing song I have enjoyed for years. As much as I love metal, I can find stuff like this, and even the odd country song that just works for me.
this was written by Leonard Cohen in 1984 and is HIS song so of course his version is the original, jeff buckley did NOT write it, no one else can come close to Leonard Cohen NO ONE GOD BLESS LEONARD RIP
I love the original version of this song. I've listened to this song from my youth up until today, a senior. The older I get, the more I feel the depth of this prayer. We experience the height of God's love, we make mistakes, we listen to the wrong voice, we fall into a pit of despair. Then only God can restore the lost soul. Only God can restore the Hallelujah.
You are the only sign of state of ,The sound ,the works of not only you but the younger generation are drinking and breathing that want to go to hold on to the prayer. That's what I thought too, but stretching back and trying on the video. Thank you and yeah I also to the prayer 🙏 for all of the family and prayers to (help ) that you and your family are doing. Thanks for the me and this week has had ,Thank you,God,this was the best way to Make this is my life. Blessings to you.
Sir, that is a gorgeous quote. I'm afraid I must steal it to spread it in hopes of its intent being conveyed to greater numbers. My apologies and thanks.
These comments are making me reflect on my own life. I thank God that everything is fine in my life even though I have lost a few loved ones that hurt so bad but I thank God still. I thank Him STILL!!!
My cat is as put down today. I grieve and feel came upon Mr. Cohens song. Perfect timing for what m heart cries out for. What a tremendous gift he left us. 😢😊
For my mom, Inez Kalwara. Who passed away on July 17th, 2020, In the middle of the pandemic. I know she would have loved this rendition, as I do. Thank you for making this hymn available to all. Praise Him! Norma Zanoni June 4th, 2024
I saw Leonard Cohen in the early 70s when I was a teenager, at Manchester Belle Vue. It was magical. It was not long after he released Songs from a Room. His voice still sends shivers down my spine. A poet second only to Bob Dylan. It's 2025 and this makes me feel like a teenager again.
No doubt Tonya Maria I see he has a new album coming soon...September 23rd I think "Popular Problems" read and listen to a song "Almost Like the blues" here www.rollingstone.com/music/news/leonard-cohen-outlines-popular-problems-album-unveils-dark-new-song-20140819
Awe yes !! Catherine Rapicano Leonard Cohen is arguably one of the very best, elite poets, songsters of our era…he has aged like a fine wine. His vast artistic breadth to be savored like a fine wine, sipped and swirled to savor the essence of his sage, thought-provoking poetry…
I like the way people post so if someone likes it they can come back. So I posted this and hope occassionally someone pushes "like." Love Lenny Cohen and this is his song that moves me the most. Life-affirming. So grateful he was here among us mortals for awhile.
Yawn. This is a singer by you? He's old and has no moves. Now that David Cassidy, there's a singer that could make the kids crazy I tell you. Wembley 1974, you couldn't even hear him the girls were screaming so loud. This guy? I bet you could hear a pin drop if you cut the mikes.
@carlapettinati3379 hmmmm.. I have not going to church for a long time.. hmmmm.. I miss my mother a devoted Christian ✝️.. hmmmm.. I might hmmmm... maybe not.
I saw Leonard Cohen in Montreal in 1972 - had to, he'd been one of my favourites since '68 - Suzanne days, this man had soul - I heard Bob Dylan shed a tear when he passed.
It's so beautiful and everything is perfect. I love the part when the organ player is playing his solo and his left leg raises up as he gets excited. Great stuff!!!
i just get annoyed by almost all covered versions making it into some religious version. But it is also pretty funny how they make it praise the lord she tied me to a kitchen chair version.
This song is particularly difficult to cover. This is not a typical standard song, with generic lyrics which can be sung by anyone with a generic Sinatra-like voice. THIS IS NOT POP MUSIC, even though this song is the closest to a popular hit song Leo has ever had. So, I'm not surprised at all by the tendecy to interpret this song as a religious track. In this way, the song becomes easier for the artist to sing and easier to digest by the audience.
It's a perfect performance, if Leonard Cohen had never done anything else this alone would make him worthy of a place in musical history. Listening to this is like a religious experience.
I remember when Various Positions came out I loved it but the album got slated. I couldn't understand, especially with this brilliant song on it (and many others in my opinion). It was years later this unnoticed song on a discredited album just took off, and I smugly thought, See, I told you so.
One is my favorite songs during every Christmas season and I listen to it over and over. It’s magical, brings peace and provokes deep thought/reflection on life as we age quickly. Thank you Lord for Mr. Cohen❤ Hollister, CA
There's not much else to say but that this is one of the greatest songs of all time. Cohen's growl only adds to the visceral depth of the lyrics. Beautifully arranged, too.
this song always seems to bring back a moment of peace to my soul, even when the world feels like its falling all around me. Thank you, I haven't been able to shed any tears since my mothers death
I am in South Africa 67 years old. Why did I never hear his music??? Really missed out and cant stop listening!! Love every word!!! So happy to have found him!!!!
I love that you love this song. I bet your life hasn't been easy in South Africa during your life. I'm sure you have seen things no one wants to see. Horrific things. Stay strong, God Bless!!
I often spend hours listening to my old friend, Leonard Cohen, his songs that deeply move me. I have followed his epic journey of inspiration all my life and I cannot convey what he means to me. I hope he does not mind me saying so, and I am sure he has contemplated this himself, he his getting on now and when his time comes to face his maker (although I am not sure if he believes in one) this will be a very sad day, as I will have lost one of my closest friends and a brother in spirit. I have no idea how we will all get on without him touching our lives, our souls and our hearts. On that day I shall hold a vigil in honour of a great, truly great man. Thank you Leonard for all that you have made me feel in my life, for indeed you have made me get in touch with myself in a profound and special way. I am not ashamed to say that I love you as my own brother as I love my son Elliott. Please listen to this song and understand what he is saying to us all, we all need someone to love.
+jonplive I said nothing of the sort in regard to "planning", nor did I write such, I wrote " On that day I shall hold a vigil in honour of a great, truly great man." I doubt very much that I shall be leaving this earth before him, VERY MUCH! Peace to you./
He’s a poet, he’s a writer, he’s a singer and he is terrific in all categories. I am 83 and just hearing him for the first time. I play his music almost every day. He is truly missed. Wish I could have seen one of his concerts. RIP Leonard
I'm a youngster at just shy of 73 . But I've been listening to l. Cohen since 1968 when I was 18 and also read his autobiography. Montreal most highly decorated public citizen. I finally saw him in Detroit in 1990.the I'm your man tour .the 1968 show was canceled. After that, I moved to sunny California..I love Famous blue raincoat and of course with his lovely wife Shelly Robertson in dance me to the end of love. And what about Teachers?❤🎉😮😊
@@greenwaffle_hov The problem, for me, is that when anyone covers a song, they are almost required to put their own spin on it, and in doing that they usually end up turning it into a somewhat different song.
@@TheLibran38 I think it's okay to put your spin on the song when you cover it. You transcribe it by adding your own emotions on the song. I'm just saying that the Jeff Buckley's version touched me more and I think it's the best version of Hallelujah. However, I have a lot of respect for the author, sir Leonard Cohen who was a great artist. May they both rest in peace [*]
I discovered Mr. Cohen far too late in my life, when he was about to leave us, but I have been ever since a true fan of his deep, fascinating voice and his gangster-like look wearing those old fashioned hats that were his trademark...We'll never forget you, Mr. Cohen. Argentina is still mourning over you !
Well said Linda, I've been a fan since Suzanne, his first hit, yet found his later performances, and especially Hallelujah, to be even better than his early work.
He is singing in the heavenly choir, & bringing the angels to tears with his beautiful voice. Thank you, Leonard, for sharing a bit of heaven with us. Love you, always, brother.
Leonard Cohen sounds to me to be a very Hebrew name, and yet he’s written one of the absolute best songs about our Lord? WOW, just WOW MAN WOW BROTHER AND THANK YOU SIR.
I have listened to so many different versions of this song and loved so many of them. I am not sure I actually have heard Cohen do it until tonight. Well, I came across this one, and I have to admit, I found it a little bit... FREAKING AWESOME. Everything about it, the man, the hat, the vocalist, that keyboardist, just wow.
He was legendary, in his life and now that he passed. His music, his songs will live on forever. Thank you for a beautiful music master of your art. RIP.
Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. Psalm 147:5 ✝🌅 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:7 ✝🌅 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 ✝🌅
this man is the ultimate symbol of cool! A true cool cat! His new album better sell umpteen scagillion copies! Love his music and the poetry I have read, was crushed by the news tonight. bless you and keep you! May you get to heaven a half hour before the devil knows you're dead!
so much to say, but man, you sound like the best of the good folks....We'll live...dude'll be dead prolly before he gets sworn in. Thank you, at any rate.
He had the poetry maybe not the voice. But I. Followed him from the 60 ‘s. To his death just recently. I think we lost a great poet. He couldn’t sing. But most of his his songs/poetry was based on life’s crisis’s
Oh my gosh. Mr. Cohen's voice is angelic. I thank God for this song and the privilege of hearing him sing it, even though he is no longer here. I'm going to listen to this song for another hour. Have already been listening to it for almost an hour. Rip sir.
Gone but never forgotten Leonard lives in the hearts of so many. He left us with with treasure trove of songs to remember him by I shared him with my granddaughter & when she was little & she loves Leonard. I'm sure her 4 year old son will, too. ✌ Leonard will be passed on for generations.

Mr. Cohen was a tortured soul while here on Earth; suffering extreme prolonged bouts of depression. So, I sincerely say: Thank you for the beautiful music and rest in peace Leonard.
you could tell he went through a lot I his life. when he sings it's as if he's closing the book on his own life. give it one final effort.

Amen to that. I once had the honour of seeing him live and he was every bit of the legend he was made out to be - the best live concert ever.
A great poet and voice. Thank you for the music and thank you for the words, Mr. Cohen. We will miss you, but we won't forget.

I never could figure out if it was him or someone else for sure
was introduced to Mr.

Do not stand at my gave and weep
I am not there,
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.I am the sunlight
On the ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn’s rain. When you awaken in the morning hush,
I am the swift uplifting rushof quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there.
I did not die.My Spirit is still alive…
He's pure consciousness now. One in unity with creation.

Leonard Cohen despite his fame, didnt have much money. When he was in Australia during our catastrophic bushfires a few years ago, he donated every cent he was paid to the Bushfire Appeal. NO fuss, no publicity, he just did it.

So long, Leonard.

@@craigounemsy.4520 Thank you.
👍👍👍

The words are beautiful, always were. His heartfelt rendition are beyond it, we're the lucky ones who have them immortalized for us to listen to. Another traveler has moved on.
He was a genius. All that listen is inspired
This song is good with or without a good voice, a true musical genius this was.
Neither was Johnny Cash's, but that doesn't detract from either being a legend.

Such a shame that this man has passed away. May you rest in Peace Sir. The original and best version IMHO
It's a masterpiece of love and understanding. What a voice!

It is simply irreplaceable original.... very beautiful....
Makes me smile Evan. Soul is still respected for being soul.
As much as I love metal, I can find stuff like this, and even the odd country song that just works for me.
evan brown I think it's his soulful passion and conviction inflected in his voice as he spills out the poetry.
this was written by Leonard Cohen in 1984 and is HIS song so of course his version is the original, jeff buckley did NOT write it, no one else can come close to Leonard Cohen NO ONE GOD BLESS LEONARD RIP
You are the only sign of state of ,The sound ,the works of not only you but the younger generation are drinking and breathing that want to go to hold on to the prayer. i just get annoyed by almost all covered versions making it into some religious version.
Whenever I listen to this music make me feel great and understand in the words of GOD, Hallelujah
Never tire of hearing his haunting voice and wonderful backing group...Thanks and may you rest in peace....your legacy will be timeless.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I really miss him, a great poet and a wonderful human being.
❤️
A beautiful spirit and gifted being. He Is sorely missed
It's a perfect performance, if Leonard Cohen had never done anything else this alone would make him worthy of a place in musical history. Listening to this is like a religious experience.
Wonderful!!!I absolutely love Leonard Chen’s voice and this performance. It’s spiritually and emotionally uplifting .
Cohen❤

His voice has such power and yet a very distinct softness as well. Such a talent.

J' aime cette chanson et j'aime. Ie grand monsieur. Qui la chante le.
Check out my piano version 🎹😗👉
There's not much else to say but that this is one of the greatest songs of all time. Cohen's growl only adds to the visceral depth of the lyrics. Beautifully arranged, too.
Cierro los ojos y sueño.
He only got the growl with age, as we all do. I'm not far behind him.
I love his music.
Love this song and this man has made it special !
That´s right !
this song always seems to bring back a moment of peace to my soul, even when the world feels like its falling all around me. Thank you, I haven't been able to shed any tears since my mothers death

+Norma Susan Smith Amen to that, thank you and much peace in your life.
+Paul Manning you're already planning his vigil? you might go before him buddy. just saying :/
+jonplive I said nothing of the sort in regard to "planning", nor did I write such, I wrote " On that day I shall hold a vigil in honour of a great, truly great man." I doubt very much that I shall be leaving this earth before him, VERY MUCH! Peace to you./
+Paul Manning I like what you said about Mr.Cohen, his music has touched my heart in many ways..thank you
+Barbara Gadsby Any fellow fan of Leonard's, is also good friend of mine. Thank you Babs. xx
Cohen was special diamond. His bright star still sweeps across the world singing his brilliant music!
Beautifully said Anita 🙏💖

He’s a poet, he’s a writer, he’s a singer and he is terrific in all categories. I am 83 and just hearing him for the first time. I play his music almost every day. He is truly missed. Wish I could have seen one of his concerts. RIP Leonard

Makes my day to listen to him sing his
Compositions.
Where ya been?
In 2007 my girlfriend took me to his concert in Ft Laurerdale Fla... I'll never frogett it, the band and singers were exactly as shown above.
I'm a youngster at just shy of 73 . But I've been listening to l. Cohen since 1968 when I was 18 and also read his autobiography. Montreal most highly decorated public citizen. I finally saw him in Detroit in 1990.the I'm your man tour
.the 1968 show was canceled. After that, I moved to sunny California..I love Famous blue raincoat and of course with his lovely wife Shelly Robertson in dance me to the end of love. And what about Teachers?❤🎉😮😊
One of the most significant and stunning songs ever created. RIP LC

Found this song earlier in November. This helped me get thru the holidays which are a dark time for me. Hope others find the same comfort.
Oh Geez.....no one can sing this with more soul than the man who wrote it. He was a legend in so many ways. RIP Leonard
I cannot listen to anyone else cover this song!!! Mr Cohen his song! Im sorry he let anyone record
(butcher ) it.
@@val5894 I agree with you. the covers are no match for the original...
How about Jeff Buckley ?
Well said Linda, I've been a fan since Suzanne, his first hit, yet found his later performances, and especially Hallelujah, to be even better than his early work.
me 2 im so sad i didnt know him sooner
any time is the time
Me too . This man is genius. His voice makes my heart ache in a good way.
,
He is singing in the heavenly choir, & bringing the angels to tears with his beautiful voice.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
I have listened to so many different versions of this song and loved so many of them. I am not sure I actually have heard Cohen do it until tonight. Well, I came across this one, and I have to admit, I found it a little bit... FREAKING AWESOME. Everything about it, the man, the hat, the vocalist, that keyboardist, just wow.
A splendid, timeless song! How many here to listen to it in 2024?

Quite something! I loved his songs all my life but this one is the crown of all. And his singing just touches the soul. ❤
He was legendary, in his life and now that he passed. His music, his songs will live on forever. Thank you for a beautiful music master of your art. RIP.
Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. Psalm 147:5 ✝🌅
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:7 ✝🌅
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 ✝🌅
I have been a lot like him in my life, searching for some meaning. I have no clue why I am here!

so much to say, but man, you sound like the best of the good folks....We'll live...dude'll be dead prolly before he gets sworn in. Thank you, at any rate.
I'm part of Leonard Cohen's generation. His music has been an inspiration to me since my teenage years. I feel he is THE poet of our generation.
A great artist...ignored by canadians. More important to pay attention to the idiot jnr justin
The poet of that generation was/is Bob Dylan. Cohen is indeed specially grande..
To each his own.😮
He is more than one generations poet hes everyone's who loves good excellent music n appreciates it... 🌹
Rip sir.
The man was an angel
I love his voice also...
