But it doesn’t matter that Jonny is also wearing a black jacket whilst playing a white piano But yet peter bence is wearing a white shirt playing a black piano, but ironic but again Doesn’t matter if it’s black or white
Pre recorded on the yamaha CP4 for everyone asking where the pedals are. This is an excellent arrangement, more advanced than Peter bence, combing 2 completely different songs, not easy. But then you're a much better pianist anyway.
Thanks for clearing that up.Good job of finger syncing anyway through. I was also wondering where the recording equipment was and how they got that beat up old piano to sound so good.
Excellent ear Mark Fowler! Yes, it is the CP4 piano sample which you are hearing. This is a music video recorded to track (not live audio for obvious reasons). Thanks for the kind words. Loving your covers man. Hit me up if you ever want to collab.
Dean Horak most if not all artists pre record on a different piano too the one in the video. It's the only way the camera man would be able to keep shooting lol, otherwise any mistakes the musician makes they would have to start over again... And again... Too time consuming. This way the camera man only needs the one take as its being mimed not recorded live of course. I record all my videos live but then I don't have a camera man or professional set up as such.
Thanks and BTW - impressive work - both of you... I do my own (mistake riddled) videos and I'm nowhere near the skill level of you two so I can understand. It's extremely difficult and frustrating (for me) to get a song under my fingers well enough to publish the video, so I wind up putting it up as "good enough". I may circle back around and do them right when/if I ever get these old fingers to cooperate. Great fun nonetheless. Keep up the good work - these videos give me inspiration to keep working at it.
Jonny May cool, thanks for that, btw check out garritan CFX vst, it will give you much better recorded audio sound, not saying this is not, but the garritan is in gb memory and not mb rom like cp4 samples, so you end up with this incredible sounding piano sample, although it's hard to beat the connection you get with a hardware piano like cp4.
Thanks for sharing this lovely music...and thanks for sharing your knowledge to the world... I have been following your free info on youtube... You are awesome... as a 68 year old fart... I love learning ... TX
Amazing.. the interweaving of both melodies.. Don't think black or white has ever sounded so good on piano. You should soo do some Enya songs. I think that would be the ultimate.
Two different ways of making a full-sounding pop arrangement on piano. Jonny May's performance here was all played at once (although the audio is dubbed over on a different piano, although NOT 'overdubbed' as in layering more parts than he could play at once). Peter Bence specializes in overdubbing and looping parts with a delay pedal, kind of like Jon Brion at his live shows. Both approaches require huge amounts of skill and patience (the second one an entirely different skill-set, as one needs to know in advance what all those looped parts will sound like stacked up, and how well they'll harmonize, so they don't horribly clash in performance). I really like that Jonny has instructional videos explaining about how he does what he does on his website. Hopefully Peter may want to put up videos showing about looping, too, in the future, if he feels like it.
I was thinking the same thing, the audio sounds studio-quality but he's shown playing an old piano where probably some of the keys don't work perfectly and with no evident electronic recording devices anywhere.
Yeah, I could tell it was an overdub being as there was no sustain pedal on that white piano and the track clearly has it. Still amazing though, love what he does
Brilliant job combining two phenomenal songs. How do you come up with what song to combine with what? Does is pop in your head and go from there, or do you think of one song and then brainstorm to find a song to fit into it?
Thanks!! It depends on the song. For this one, I was originally arranging Black or White as a standalone piece, and then suddenly out of nowhere I heard Sweet Child O Mine on the chords for 'if you wanna be my baby...". So yeah this was just some type of divine inspiration.
Hi Johnny! Thanks a lot for all you're offering in youtube. It's always a pleasure to see and enjoy your videos and performances. I've a question about this video: it sounds like you're using a pedal, but this piano doesn't seem to have one... what's the mystery?
Can you please cover “these days” by rudimental or “Kiss” by Prince. Your pop covers are definitely my favourite. You’re flipping unbelievable to watch man
I don't care who's better out of Jonny and Peter, we're just very lucky to have them both.
I cannot express the sheer amount of joy this cover left me feeling
Amazing arrangement! Pre-record or not doesn't matter, it's a Music Video man! Just enjoy!
Peter Bence used a black piano, Jonny used a white piano, but really it doesn't matter if it's black or white :)
hahahaa.... good one
this comment is really underrated
Kevin Ford but that vid looks really inspired by Bence
Johnny has my vote. Raw talent.
But it doesn’t matter that Jonny is also wearing a black jacket whilst playing a white piano But yet peter bence is wearing a white shirt playing a black piano, but ironic but again Doesn’t matter if it’s black or white
The most confident pop player I have witnessed. Not a second's hesitation, remarkable.
Jonny's arrangements are some of the best on YT.

Wundervoller Song und die Symbiose beider Lieder 😍 💫
Peter Bence is amazing no doubt but this is a whole new level of genius! Jonny's music is always pure and played with love and respect 👊
"If I could play like this, I'd never go outside."
what's that from? I remember it from somewhere.
That's precisely why you can't play this well , yet ;)
Everything needs balance :)
If you could play like him you wouldn't have seen much outside but it would be worth it
It's much easier than you expect
