The wonder of a home Harvest Right freeze dryer is that it solves all the issues associated with heat, oxygen, and water that cause food to go bad. Without using heat, freeze drying removes the water from the food in a cool or cold environment and doesn’t kill the important enzymes. When the water is removed, it stops the growth of germs and bacteria. Because heat is not used to destroy these organisms, no nutritional value is lost. Once the food has been freeze dried, it is placed in a container with an oxygen absorber and sealed. With proper packaging, the food can remain in its fresh, healthy nutritional state for up to 25 years or more. And even better, the food will taste as fresh as it did the day it was freeze dried.
Fresh or cooked foods are placed in the freeze dryer where they are frozen to -40 degrees Fahrenheit or colder.
Once the food is frozen, the freeze dryer creates a powerful vacuum around the food. Then, as the food is slightly warmed, the ice transitions into vapor and evaporates.
The freeze-dried food is then sealed in moisture and oxygen-proof packaging (Mylar bags, mason jars, or cans) along with an oxygen absorber to ensure freshness until opened.
When water is added to the freeze-dried food it regains its original fresh flavor, aroma, and appearance!

The pump has one big fault: PR-40 - SPLASH GUARD is made out of an inferior metal and rusts, I love this machine and a simple change to stainless steel would correct this. Please take note of this as a suggestion to make a better product..

I did not catch the price. Most food is heated when eaten. What's the point? Frozen vegetable soup dose not sound tasty.
May i suggest buying one good crock style for your buck. I get mine in the pet department at dollar tree a dollar and they save that in a few feedings of non wasted food. Even at five dollars they pay for themselves. Then give him a treat in his red plastic one so he can still enjoy tossing it around.
May I suggest increasing the dosage of your antipsychotic medication, because the dose you're on now is clearly not working.

Definitely not for someone in a limited and very small fixed income...this thing is outrageously expensive.
This is definitely for people on the higher end of emergency prepardness like a big family or a Church. That said, at the time this video was made if you bought one and sold the food you would have made about $2k in sales per month. You can't really do that anymore now as too many people have these and are selling food.

Don't get the oil free pump. I spent $1500 on it and it lasted less than 2 dozen uses. It is just out of warranty and they won't even talk to you without paying $45 just to talk to support. I already took it apart and know what parts failed and sent photos. Not a very reputable company.

@@alexisfishinhuntinandfarmi2923 I bet it would last centuries. That said, canned food tastes inferior to freeze dried food. Also freeze drying can preserve more foods than can be canned. This is like the top of the line equipment, not something that is a necessity.
I love freeze dried food, specifically fruit and ice cream. I didn't know freeze dryers were available for home until recently. I bought and moved into a house earlier this year and can no longer afford one of these. I so wish I knew these were available to the general public earlier. In my apartment I could have easily bought one but there's no way I can now. Harvest Right should be advertising these to a wider audience. I am at least one consumer they have lost a sale from because of timing.

To be honest the product looks very wasteful with those plastic bags. Plastic comes with its own health concerns depending on what type. And we aren’t entirely certain that any or all plastic is totally safe yet. Glass is safe! Canning for me.
