Unpopular opinion, i loved die antwoord in this movie, they are south africa musicians, their older songs were very popular everywhere
It was their deput in acting (i think) and for some reason their performances bring me some kind of nostalgia of something i cant really pinpoint, but it felt very cozy. From what I had seen of them their relationship in the movie was basicaly the same in real life, so maybe that is why I loved it so much, maybe it was yolandi's motherly care for chappie, maybe it was chappie with his personality like a kid/wall-eish, I cant really pinpoint
The movie overall was also quite good, it was fun, heartfelt, sad, all i can ask for in a movie
Thank you whoever recommended this to them, i had forgot about this beautiful American movie

Which is all the more rational, to disagree there would be incredibly concerning and destructive for the long term health of the populations next generations.

This movie is so good, both the story and the idea behind it. I don’t get why so many people hate on it. Sure, the concepts in it might seem way out there, but honestly, they’re not that different from what’s happening with AI right now-except maybe the whole robot consciousness thing. Even that doesn’t feel so crazy anymore with how fast tech is moving. Now that companies are actually making robots, I think more people will start to appreciate Chappie and how ahead of its time it was. It’s one of those movies that makes you think about where we’re headed as a society. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if in a few years people start looking back at it as a cult classic. It might’ve been underrated when it came out, but it’s got the potential to resonate more as the world catches up to its ideas.

(Jagermiester & Red Bull) liked the face ya pulled when they all looked at ya hehe 🤭 & yay for everyone's 'Short Circuit' references too! I think Chappie and District Nine alike are both brilliant transhumanist works of speculative fiction. The idea that we, as humans, through our own struggles and efforts, will be able to transcend the limits of our physicalities. D9 tells it in a more tragic way, but Chappie is incredibly optimistic, despite its sort of grungy aesthetic and the sort of gritty underbelly.
I think they actually did wonderfully with Ninja's arc- Showing, through Chappie's accelerated learning, how being raised in a harsh world can create harshness, but how you can still, again, transcend the limits of your upbringing.
It's cyberpunk, it's transhumanist, it's symbolic, and I think the whole thing is GREAT.

Freakin' love the fact that a "low-life" Joburg thug (tweaker maybe even?) is the first person to give a damn robot/AI a damn SOUL! 'Cause you can see it plain as day on Chappies "face" after she explains it, and while he's processing it. She really was like a mommy (albeit a SERIOUSLY hardcore crazy-b!tch-of-a-mommy) to Chappie, which kinda made it all the more interesting really. Also... Ninja and Yo-Landi are the South African band Die Antwoord. From IMDB:
When South African director Blomkamp was writing the script for Chappie (2015) he had Visser and Ninja in mind from the beginning and approached them to do the movie. He presented them with the fact that he wanted them to play themselves and had used the couple's existing personas as a starting point for his script. This went over well with the couple and their performances were a huge hit with the producers, who were skeptical at first.

Chappie 2 is not in the works, as the director of the original Chappie film has stated that a sequel is not happening. Neill Blomkamp, the South African director of the original Chappie, said that he wrote the film as a trilogy and was interested in making sequels if they were financially viable, but that the film's poor performance meant that a sequel would not be made.
Chappie is about an artificially intelligent robot that becomes sentient and must learn to navigate the competing forces of kindness and corruption in a human world. Some reviews of the film criticized it for being all action and no depth, while others said that it explores the dignity of the artificial person.
