I must be getting old. I remember when a Golf R was £30k, and that seemed like a lot. Prices are crazy at the moment and it’s not like they’ll go down!
The cars offer more now. They may be you know kinda gay now but they offer so much more and perform so much better especially for daily use and reliability. You really get what you paid for with this one especially on the new 2023 model with the idrive 8 system that prioritizes voice command usage for a lot of shit.

The only thing that we see more of is the iPad gauges.
@@duncanidaho7494 fuck the iPad gauges..you now have a an accurate personal assistant, more power, more control although sensory feedback is dissapointing yes, but visual feedback is treat. If you don't like the screens I understand bruv but get used to it, I just bought one of these for 60k but meanwhile I just found an 2005 e46 m3 in prestine condition for 70k. Hell of a car the e46 was but I no way shape or form is it or should it have ever been worth anywhere near that. The cars they are making now in my opinion are more bang for your buck than it's ever been. We used to pay to drive, now the drive has 100 features included on top of what already came before ..for less.
@@duncanidaho7494 Agreed, but the m240i is the fastest current bmw 8.3s 1/4 mile time I believe. You can’t deny you’re getting more power with these new models. However the newer the models the shitter the exhaust sound

I replaced my much loved 2018 BMW 440i with a M340i purely because I didn’t like the huge grill on the new 4-Series. The M340i has also been a brilliant and faultless car but it does seem a bit needlessly large for me (I rarely carry anyone in the back). I am therefore thinking about downsizing whilst keeping the 374bhp engine to the M240i the looks of which I really like.

This was hard to watch as I desperately want to get on the list for this car and this was my exact spec! Damn!!! Looks like a dream. Been speaking to Tony and it’s looking near impossible for me to get one. Will have to revisit later on in the year. Great video as always Joe 👍

I can't remember ever liking black on a car but this looks amazing! So aggressive but subtle and it does tone the wackiness in the back down a little.
I might be the odd man out because I love the way the new M240i looks.
I like look of a car that has a long front end with sort of a short rear. Kinda like the Merc GT R.
If you are at the BMW dealership and looking for a Coupe I don't see how anyone in their right mind buys a M440i over the M240i .
I think BMW did a great job on this car and they will soon have my money.

Would love to see a review of the 230i. I think the weight, 400 Nm and lighter nose would make it a terrific mountain goat..
I'm in the older version 2019 F22 230i xDrive..with the Track Package and did test drive it back to back with the then M240i xDrive. I preferred the lighter, more nimble driving feel of the 4 cylinder powered 2 series and don't need/miss the admittedly stronger B58 powered version....lower initial cost plus better gas mileage and less expensive insurance. I still enjoy a few autocross days and on track driving events. Test them both if you can find 'em together!

My local Dealer here in Germany has one in that "oak" grey in a full spec, also with the PS4S Tech Pack. It looks absolutely amazing in person, when you see it live. Pictures don't do it justice. Also the cabin and seating position is very good. This or the M2 will prob. replace my Cupra Formentor VZ in 2 years.
I have the exact same spec but I also have the M-performance brakes. It does look best in black IMO.

BMW has hit that sweet spot with this car and the M440i X drive mixing performance, driving charisma and price in the best way.

Yet another great vid 😎 That B58 does sound great, reminds me very much why I enjoyed my M240 so much. It makes my relatively standard (for now) M2c sound like a fart in a jar in comparison 🤷🏻♂️. That 8sp ZF box was also a delight 😉

I was pretty shure to order it in portimao blue, but now i think black is by far better. It hides more of the design....

I saw a purple one this morning while I was leaving the town for a drive which started as a medium long one (around 150 miles) but ended being a semi-epic 260 miles over almost 6 hours of driving on back roads, separated by small villages..., wait.. I was saying something about the bmw.. yes,..., I saw one and, in the flesh, the body of the car is so "hulked up" it makes the 19" wheels look a size too small. I did not mind the back of it.. liked the profile and on the roads I drove today in the second part of my trip(after a rain/half wet snowflakes), that xdrive would have been exactly what the doctor ordered.
hello. I didn't like the design of the M240i at first. I didn't like the headlights and taillights. In reality, it looks different ... much better. I like it now. Brooklyn gray and shadow line I think look best. I think for how much you pay, the car offers a lot. It's a good platform for the future M2. Seeing the black color now ... I think it looks good. All colors are ok. I'm waiting for a long time review. good luck
IMO absolute bargain. Seems quality through and through. Would get this over new rs3 golf r a45 etc.

This is an m-lite which is below an RS and AMG hatch.
@@EastWood2004 maybe below an RS but that AMG hatch is nothing special especially considering the price.... any vag EA888.3 4 cylinder can push the same power with bolt ons

What sport individual settings do you normally use on the B58 cars you drive Joe? You mention dampers and steering in comfort but what do you normally have the engine and gearbox set to? I watch all your videos and own a M340i and I'm always swapping and changing my configuration so wanted to know your opinion bud? Great video as always! :)
Just a great all round package with stunning looks. At 10k cheaper id 100 percent go with this over the rs3

What are you talking about? The design is ugly, the proportions all wrong with that long bonnet… They ruined the most balanced and fun to drive BMW model of the last 20 years

Joe is a good chap but it's clear he is firmly on the big saloon side of the equation. For us coupe enthusiasts, the M240i looks to be a very good option and the price is reasonable.
I’m undecided between the active tourer and this M240i 😂 Just kidding.

What a stunning looking car
I really like the new 2 series, the front is squat and aggressive and i know the renders and bmw sketches with a more retro front to hark back to its grandad 2002 looked great i think this looks really well proportioned and a proper bmw the newer ones have lost something in the styling
The back i think the lights are fussy but in this black look great
I find the audi interiors have too many cheap scratchy plastics im not a fan of the fussy interior design either so for me id have one of these for sure
The F30 is my first and only experience with BMW. I love my 335i and I will keep it forever. I watch purely for entertainment. Until next purchase of course.

I’m not getting rid of my n55 m2 either. I love my m2 and the noise will be way better than the new m240.. I think these new cars are so expensive, our m2s are bargains!

I love my M2 LCI too, but after driving the new M240i, I orderet one. For daily use it's much smoother and the interior quality is better and more modern.
@@jurgenzimmermann5006 it looks like a quality motor and it will defo be a better daily. I’ve owned a few 240’s, 135’s and they are better daily’s especially with the auto box. The new m240 will be even better than ever with the new interior and xdrive. The couple of things for me I would miss is the manual gearbox, the quad pipes and noise. I want an old school feeling car like my m2 as I don’t do many miles so I don’t need an auto or it to be a more comfortable drive if you know what I mean. I had a 1m and have missed it ever since selling it so the m2 is the next best thing for me and compared to the 1m it’s a lot more of a better daily!
Just ordered one to replace my F23 M240 convertible , can’t wait .
I like the rear of the car, especially the non-M version with smaller and rounded exhaust tips, plus the side view gets better too because of less black on the bottom.

I bought a '21 black on black M240i last year, knowing the new model was mere months away from delivery in the USA. I love my car, but the new 2'er is fantastic! I love the updated interior, added power, and wider rubber all around. I happen to like the body as well. Hopefully the RWD version is released and car prices normalize by the time my warranty is up!

Boring question, what’s the boot size like? Currently have a 17 plate 335d xdrive . Interested in the m240i x drive but need enough space for the golf clubs etc!

blak color works out well because it masks the weird lines of the fake air intakes on the front bumper

It seems Australia takes a different approach to the packs. We have the M Sport Plus package which includes the shadow line lights and black accents, and m seat belts, then the Executive Package which includes nonsense stuff like sun glazing and a heated steering wheel. We can upgrade the wheels which include the ‘performance tyres’ as a stand alone option.

can't even lie to myself.I'd upgrade from my f22 m240i into this despite the ridiculous weight gain and ugly rear,but the xdrive hides the weight deceptively and the rear doesn't look that bad in all black.Not to mention you can actually personalise the driving modes,which is the f22 biggest and msot annoying downfall.Great video as always joe,but when you get another one in may,please go through the driving modes in more depth.I personally want to see the customisation of sport mode and whether you can drive with traction semi off or fully off in any mode.Can you customise sport+ though?
Unless you want the extra space and pay more money, it’s difficult to see the point of the M440i, a car which has the same platform, similar drivetrain, same interior and similar performance as this new, and cheaper, M240i. I can only assume the M340i/M440i will at some point receive a performance upgrade so as not to be outdone by its cheaper sibling from the class below.
Would love to see your thoughts on the more affordable 230i m sport with the plus package

It is an option. They removed it from the configurator due to chip shortage lol
