Two things however: 1) the NSX does have Apple CarPlay, so I’m surprised to hear the dealership didn’t help you with that; 2) I hope you know the cup holder attachment can pop out and be placed in the cubby, much like the old BMW Z4 and several other cars which used this same solution for carrying drinks. Sadly many eligible buyers are still hung up on badges. Put a Ferrari badge and flog it as an entry level model at 180k and you'll see the sales. Sad truth that has been true forever.
Great review. I am in love with this car. I have had the pleasure of seeing 3 on the street and even sat in one and I can honestly say it looks better in person than on video. It is truly an underrated gem of automotive engineering. I think part of the problem with Acura NSX sales (here in the USA) is the "Brand Snobs" who don't look at Acura as a luxury brand and especially not as a "Exotic/Performance" brand. I have come across people who have never seen the car in person tell me the car is overpriced and say they would buy a C8 corvette instead...but have no complaints with the pricing of an Audi R8, Huracan,McLaren 570s or a F88...all of being more expensive than the NSX. Here in the US both Acura and Honda seem to lack the "cache" of other brands despite the fact that they have a reputation as being good, reliable well engineered vehicles manufacturers. Another "Knock" on the NSX ironically is the NSX name...I honestly think if Acura/Honda called it something else people may have been more receptive to it. The 2nd generation is such a dramatic departure from the original in design and technology that "so called purists" feel it is blasphemous to call it a "True heir". The 2nd gen NSX is a brilliant vehicle that unfortunately won't get the praise it deserves because it is simply ahead of it's time. Hopefully some day I can afford one because ever since I saw one in person I have been madly infatuated with them...a truly marvelous machine.
Just wait. Many are beginning to come around on the second generation NSX. I lost count how many naysayers I have converted after I gave them a ride in mine.
A massively underrated supercar!! Like you say brand snobbery is a big cause of poor sales but also this car was rumoured and in development for ages and by the time it was finally released it had fallen behind its supercar peers. I’d have one in a heartbeat though.
I always liked this car. I think they missed the price point and it really caused issues with its marketability. At the end of the day it is a Honda/acura.
Well Honda engines are and have killed it in formula one and so many other series. Honda McLaren, Honda Red Bull etc. I own two brand of cars, Porsche and Honda/ Acura.
Hello brand snobbery a gain you must be very small down there if you need to tell everybody you bought a Ferrari or Porsche, but in the end of the day the Acura is a amazing car.🍷🎶
Beautiful car . Apparently New Zealand has been waiting since 2018 to get this car . Honda as far as I know haven't really been bending over backwards to market it to the public. I also think it will forever live in the shadow of the original NSX. I would happily purchase one of these babies once Honda pulls there finger out and releases them in NZ
I used to LOVE ACURA, I owned a 1990 Legend LS Coupe and it was magic. They forgot where they came from, BEAT the compitition and get rid of the Transformer lines and do it right!
Great video Ped and very interesting car! It looks lovely in the Blue/Purple metallic too - there was one in the car park at Goodwood FOS on the Friday which caught my eye. Hope you, Mrs PP and both of the Pups are well.
Very nice alternative to the usual supercars, and it looks great, and Honda makes great cars. But I calculated the cost of the options alone on this car at over 12,000 pounds, and I guess thats not much if you have enough to buy one of these. For my money though, I'd use the options money to buy a series one Elise and enjoy a real analogue sports car. Sure it can't do 180mph but when are you going to need that kind of performance. Get a practical car for the every day and you've saved yourself 100k. Also, the S1 Elise is now going up in value as people realise they're never going to make them again.
I think it’s one of the best looking sports cars and people do complain about of some of the interior parts but still think it’s underrated. The price clearly holds it back, in Canada where I live they go for over 200 thousand dollars new.
I am a bit of a petrol head... not overly fanatical... But I love Cars and Bikes...Acura NSX.... Never heard of it... But would cut of my ..... maybe not ... But I Love it....... Beautiful lines and performance... As long as it gets Radio 2 and holds my coffee then the interior is ok for me... :-))))))
I drove the original and it was an exceptional drive but you did need to have some skill to be able to ‘use’ it’s power because it was raw and brutal when provoked. I have often wondered why they didn’t bring it back sooner and why when they did, it wasn’t popular. I think you eloquently addressed those issues and hit the nail on the head with ‘the price’, the brand snobbery and probably that interior! Another great review and as always very well balanced with your comments and observations. 👏
Another smiley Ped motor. I love this car, the look, the sound and the interior, except for certain aspects of the dash like you. Honda engineering is second to none, with their F1 heritage. A very enjoyable video Ped 👍😎
The flagship of Honda NSX by far the improvement model from the predecessor model still amazing machine, like you said it not all about power and the way it moves dramatically down the B roads is definitely better than anything else there is on the market industry globally for its price and regardless of apple car play you can get it upgraded quickly or cup holder these are just little things that you can change, it's all about the drivers experience with the way the car manoeuvres and the response feedback also for 100 grand buy one with every accessory and lowest mileage and then storage away for future investment, like it predecessor before. Amazing value for money and a future classic.
No way, the r8 v10 engine is awesome and sounds awesome, this doesn’t sound anywhere near as good. I’d take the r8 any day over this. The Honda is a good car but not a patch on the r8.
Consumer's needed Honda/Acura to keep the second generation NSX around another few years to come out with "refresh" upgrade to bring the technology and little details up to date with the current Acura line. My 2023 RDX A-Spec is perfect with lots of NSX inspired features. Still the NSX is a must have but it will be challenging finding used ones in US because of the low sales.
Great photography and presentation 👍 As others have said I think it is a mixture of badge snobbery and perhaps being just too capable, not giving the feeling of being on the edge?
McLaren Artura is a 3.0L TT V6 with only 1 electric motor and will MSRP for $225K+ but I'm sure no one will bitch or moan about it's price because it's doors go up and the badge on the hood LOL.
@@ELECTRICEYEMEDIA That's right. They are paying for a badge and status. Wealthy people don't want to buy a Honda. The ones that did thought the interior of the NSX was boring, it didn't sound exotic enough and it did not feel "exotic" to them. I've read comments from them. These are people that own lots of different kinds of sports cars above 200k. The market is telling everyone it's current price point is too high with it's bad sales numbers since day one. It's not a 200k car a good price point is around 125k. I'm not a hater I think it's a GREAT car & would love to have one but if I had 200k to spend I would be looking at other cars.
Hi all, It's typical Honda.. Engineering perfection, Always loved the looks, Even the original was something else. I think you're right Pete they haven't sold well because of brand snobbery. Love the chrome wheels too. Have a great weekend everyone 👍
Just put your hand in your pocket and get it Pete!!! Unfortunately the pups wouldn’t,t be able to go with you so maybe not. Beautiful and stylish motor and rare so might be a collector car in years to come. Loved it👍👍👍🚘🚘🚘
@Nick Nolte I think you are wise to wait and see how this car pans out in the future collector market, (pans out might have been a bad choice of words)!!!
With you Ped. Having sat in (not driven one), the noise is a bit muted but the interior looks and feels much better in the flesh than in pictures (passenger unfriendly drinks holder notwithstanding). Add a fruity exhaust, kill the mouse hiding in the dash and that’s a hell of a thing (I even love the silver which I usually hate). Definitely a bargain at £100K…
I don’t care what anyone else thinks, although a quick glance through the comments seems to be primarily positive. It IS a stunning looking car, I think it works particularly well in the silver. Okay - so it’s not perfect, but what car is 🤷🏼♂️. The positives far out way the very minor niggles, and aren’t most things in life a compromise. Realistically, I’m never going to be able to afford one, but if I could, I’d be at the Honda dealership like a shot 👍🏻
Also the Ferrari 296GTB is a 2.9L V6 TT Hybrid and it's MSRP will be $325K USD. Wonder if anyone will complain about it's price? I mean it has 818hp stock but it's still slower than a 2017+ NSX with 573hp for $140K.
Excellent video review and a bargain used, vs Mclaren Artura new. Acura and Honda are great vehicles, reliable and well engineered plus driving dynamics are close to BMW, with better resale value. Thank you for your video reviews.
Great looking car and as you say Pete with Honda's bullet proof engineering. An everyday usable super car that you can live with. It will be interesting to see what happens with the value in the long term. Great video and review
Nice car. But would be impossible for me to choose it over an r8 with that screaming v10, and far nicer interior for virtually the same money, or the huracan with the same v10 and more prestige. I would also take the Porsche 911 gt3 which will almost certainly go up in value for similar money.
Everyone and their mothers have an R8, Huracan as well as GT3's they are a dime a dozen in major cities in the US. Nothing special about them and no one gives two sh*ts about them at Cars and Coffee where they are lined up row after row. Even Instagram paparazzi are bored silly with the aforementioned cars you listed and are taking photos of old school JDM once again LMFAO.
@@ELECTRICEYEMEDIA I hear what your saying. But the r8 and Huracan have had longer production runs so you should see more of them. In the case of the gt3 they don't differ all that much from any other 911, so they blend in more. I live in southern California and any exotic or top end car is seen with regularity. In fact I see 2 of these NSX's and 1 of the original model in my area all the time. But I think the objective of the auto maker is to sell the vehicle. And the buyers have spoken, they prefer the above mentioned cars. Whether they are better or not is debatable.
I think you answered your own question about why they haven't sold well: Too quiet, not flamboyant enough and overpriced. Even at £100k in year 4, there are more exciting and similarly performing cars available.
Sadly true , if you’re going to spend that kind of money you want that fizz , the interior leaves you cold , technically amazing but emotionally middle of the road and that’s where Honda and Nissan has always struggled with super cars , they left out the visual emotional element . You can imagine the engineers were all white coated anoraks with slide rules who’s idea of fun is train spotting .
Plaid S is the most boring car on the planet. It's silent, ugly and overpriced EV but guess what? Guys who have 765LT's, SF90s' and 3,000hp GT-Rs are buying them and are even selling their Macs in place for the Plaid S. The world for cars is changing quickly. Get with the time or get left in the dust with your V10/V12 fart can that runs low 11's LOL
@@ELECTRICEYEMEDIA show me one person who's gonna SELL a 765LT or SF90 for a Plaid!? 🤣 Add one to the collection, maybe. But how is this relevant to the conversation about the NSX?!
Great vlog as always. Back to a "normal" car review, fantastice. What a car, reminds me of an 80's supercar on the inside yet with modern hybrid motors, I'm often disappointed with the inside of so called super cars but I guess cost has to come into it somewhere.
Good LORD that thing is beautiful , Id by it in a heart beat !!! As soon as I win the Lotto , Im gettin it !!!
Yep 👍
A massively underrated supercar!! Like you say brand snobbery is a big cause of poor sales but also this car was rumoured and in development for ages and by the time it was finally released it had fallen behind its supercar peers. I’d have one in a heartbeat though.
I always liked this car. I think they missed the price point and it really caused issues with its marketability. At the end of the day it is a Honda/acura.
Well Honda engines are and have killed it in formula one and so many other series. Honda McLaren, Honda Red Bull etc. I own two brand of cars, Porsche and Honda/ Acura.
At the end of who's day? The guy who puts performance and value for money second and worries about neighbors and friends impressions first!
Hello brand snobbery a gain you must be very small down there if you need to tell everybody you bought a Ferrari or Porsche, but in the end of the day the Acura is a amazing car.🍷🎶
I enjoyed watching the Video Review 😄
I would love that every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Absolutely GORGEOUS. 😍
Me too 👍
Gorgeous problem, rubbish, not practical at all!
Why would you buy this to be practical. You would never put practicality and hyper cars in the same sentence. 🤷
Morning pal. R8 nose ish, awesome looking machine. Adore the wheels. 😍
Stunning car. Love it!
Wow what a super car and definitely one that sneaks under the radar 👍🏻
Yep 👍
Beautiful car . Apparently New Zealand has been waiting since 2018 to get this car . Honda as far as I know haven't really been bending over backwards to market it to the public. I also think it will forever live in the shadow of the original NSX. I would happily purchase one of these babies once Honda pulls there finger out and releases them in NZ
I used to LOVE ACURA, I owned a 1990 Legend LS Coupe and it was magic. They forgot where they came from, BEAT the compitition and get rid of the Transformer lines and do it right!
I really thought you was going to close the cup holder into the centre console. Great motor.👍
Love your very down to earth review of this car. No airs, just straight to the point. Good job!!!
Cheers 👍
Great review! Hope to own a used one soon!!
Fingers crossed for you 👍
what a great life you got ,driving marvelous car like this.
Yep. Very lucky 🙏🏻
😍 It certainly has some presence 👌. Cracking video Peter 👍
Thanks Shane 👍
Great video Ped and very interesting car! It looks lovely in the Blue/Purple metallic too - there was one in the car park at Goodwood FOS on the Friday which caught my eye. Hope you, Mrs PP and both of the Pups are well.
Cheers Matthew. We are well thanks 👍
Beautifully balanced styling.
really....... no flare , passion , this is a stupid looking car and that is why its a complete flop
In 2014 terms, sure.
Hi Pete
This has got to be one of the nicest cars that you have reviewed mate ……. Love it 😊
I agree. I loved it 👍
Very nice alternative to the usual supercars, and it looks great, and Honda makes great cars.
Looks like a Vauxhall Insignia at the rear. Great vid though, keep up the good work.
This car in nfs payback is one of my favorites in the way it handles
It's quintessentially Honda which is why it is so good and why it didn't have the sales that it should have. Great Friday evening watch. Cheers Ped!
Thanks Tim 👍
If I had the money I would definately buy 1
Beautifully shot video has to be 4k, and excellent review. I’d give my left one for this NSX…
Thanks Shane 🙏🏻
I think it’s one of the best looking sports cars and people do complain about of some of the interior parts but still think it’s underrated. The price clearly holds it back, in Canada where I live they go for over 200 thousand dollars new.
I am a bit of a petrol head... not overly fanatical... But I love Cars and Bikes...Acura NSX.... Never heard of it... But would cut of my ..... maybe not ... But I Love it....... Beautiful lines and performance... As long as it gets Radio 2 and holds my coffee then the interior is ok for me... :-))))))
It does both of those things 👍
@@PetrolPed Ok ... I will have a Silver one Please..... :-)))))
Very cool car....and it has as much racing pedigree as many other super cars.
On my wish list!
I don;t know if even one has been sold in Australia. Great video Pete. I want one of these. Must go down and buy another Pools ticket.
Great detailed review Pete thank you.
I really like these cars, but at the price point it has a LOT of very good opposition.
How much real engine sound, and thrugh the speakers+ Sounds really arificial.
And yes! The S2000 is epic, Danish design what did you expect!
Nice car especially for a Honda. But not many people want to spend £100k to say they drive a Honda.
Looks great in silver
Another smiley Ped motor. I love this car, the look, the sound and the interior, except for certain aspects of the dash like you. Honda engineering is second to none, with their F1 heritage. A very enjoyable video Ped 👍😎
Thanks George 👍
Drop dead gorgeous...!!!!
👍
Most Underrated supercar of all time.
lol really i think not !
Peter, what a great review and great reviewer! Thank you!
👍
What a great car. Love Honda's they never let you down I have had two would love to be in a position to afford one of these.
Absolute beautiful car, I'd buy this over an r8 etc any day of the week.
Yep 👍
Check out the latest Stef abtv on the entry level R8 rear wheel drive unless you have already watched it of course!!!
R8 has a V10 tho
No way, the r8 v10 engine is awesome and sounds awesome, this doesn’t sound anywhere near as good. I’d take the r8 any day over this. The Honda is a good car but not a patch on the r8.
I know someone who had an R8 and the gearbox blew up after 1000 miles that would not happen on a Honda....
Best sports car for the money. By far. Sounds great too! Both in Sport + and Quiet Mode. ;)
C8 owners might question that..
@@Gatnor No comparison.
I had a 2001 Honda S2000….. I loved that car. So fun to drive!
Great photography and presentation 👍
As others have said I think it is a mixture of badge snobbery and perhaps being just too capable, not giving the feeling of being on the edge?
Wow what a beautiful car and a fantastic review of it
Thanks Ashley 👍
It's quite obvious why they don's sell, they're way too expensive! Nice car for 80-100k
If I could get a good clean used one for $40k, with 80000 miles, and if I fit in it, I'd get one.
@@DumbledoreMcCracken Even a 1991 isn't chat cheap
@@mackcummy4976 Just wait
Great review of a great car, the first NSX being developed and tested by Senna I believe, a stunning looking car.👍
Hi all, It's typical Honda.. Engineering perfection, Always loved the looks, Even the original was something else. I think you're right Pete they haven't sold well because of brand snobbery. Love the chrome wheels too. Have a great weekend everyone 👍
Cheers Mark 👍
Looks rich,eff brand loyalty.
Always like your vids;) great looking car yet again :)
Thanks Tony 👍
I love a super saloon! but if I wanted a two seater if I could afford it that’s the one!
Just put your hand in your pocket and get it Pete!!! Unfortunately the pups wouldn’t,t be able to go with you so maybe not. Beautiful and stylish motor and rare so might be a collector car in years to come. Loved it👍👍👍🚘🚘🚘
Sadly my pockets are that big 😂
@Nick Nolte I think you are wise to wait and see how this car pans out in the future collector market, (pans out might have been a bad choice of words)!!!
With you Ped. Having sat in (not driven one), the noise is a bit muted but the interior looks and feels much better in the flesh than in pictures (passenger unfriendly drinks holder notwithstanding). Add a fruity exhaust, kill the mouse hiding in the dash and that’s a hell of a thing (I even love the silver which I usually hate). Definitely a bargain at £100K…
Yep 👍
I don’t care what anyone else thinks, although a quick glance through the comments seems to be primarily positive. It IS a stunning looking car, I think it works particularly well in the silver. Okay - so it’s not perfect, but what car is 🤷🏼♂️.
The positives far out way the very minor niggles, and aren’t most things in life a compromise. Realistically, I’m never going to be able to afford one, but if I could, I’d be at the Honda dealership like a shot 👍🏻
Well put 👍
Me too if its under 100k u.s.
Price killed this car and they never adjusted it whatsoever.
Also the Ferrari 296GTB is a 2.9L V6 TT Hybrid and it's MSRP will be $325K USD. Wonder if anyone will complain about it's price? I mean it has 818hp stock but it's still slower than a 2017+ NSX with 573hp for $140K.
Great review, and what a fabulous car. I think it’s purely a badge snobbery problem for Honda.
Excellent video review and a bargain used, vs Mclaren Artura new. Acura and Honda are great vehicles, reliable and well engineered plus driving dynamics are close to BMW, with better resale value. Thank you for your video reviews.
Thanks! 👍
With the Lotus Emira coming out next year, they better drop the price on the NSX. Or it won’t sell any next year.
Rather have the lotus
Very nice car! Always been a fan of Honda - sadly underrated and I really don't know why.
Yep. It’s a mystery to me too 🤷♂️
I think you answered your own question about why they haven't sold well: Too quiet, not flamboyant enough and overpriced.
It’s the same dilemma lotus has, but maybe the emirs will change things for them, at least lotus cars are drivers cars
I think Honda's are probably one of the most underrated cars so this doesn't surprise me that this one is so good. BTW, your Mic was very quiet once you got in the car? Might just be me, but thought you'd want to know.
Love it👌🏻
Lovely machine 👍
I'd love to know what roads you were driving on, they looked fantastic! Great car and you just know it will be mega reliable and will spend more time on the road rather than on a ramp.
