Jay Leno really should buy a large piece of property outside of LA and create his own Top Gear-like track where he could really push these cars without having to worry about speed limits. Who's with me!?
It's just big. It's nice. It's fast and quick. It is well done Just the design language doesn't have original NSX emotion. A great spec sheet and meeting regulatory needs doesn't light a fire.
This newest NSX is all about technology. The original NSX was about great performance (for the time), achieved with relative-simplicity, reliability, and lightness. It was artful (at least, with the original concealed headlights), a "Japanese Ferrari," and it represented the epitome of what we loved about Honda, the company. This newest "NSX" should have a different name.
i love how jay's detail knowledge of 1000s of vehicles over multiple decades is so vast at this point that when he starts asking some question (something like "my 2007 SLR has a different sort of electric seat, how does it compare to this ..." etc) the reps and engineers get nervous because most of them know less than he does. he's always very humble about it too, and always the first person to say he's obviously not an engineer :)
Bruh... you're giving him wayyyy too much credit, and letting your admiration get the better of you. Regarding what he said about the seats, he was literally just saying that it's a bit hypocritical/contradictory for a super/hyper car (which are supposed to be all about performance, which means being as lightweight as possible) to use powered seats because they are easily more than 10lbs heavier than manually adjustable seats, mainly due to the fact that they need an electric motor strong enough to push/pull the weight of a full grown person + the weight of the seat itself. Many, many motor journalists make this exact same comment when reviewing other supercars/performance cars, completely ignoring the fact that almost all of them (including the NSX as the engineer guest pointed out) offer *both* manual and powered seats in order to satisfy the needs of both the hardcore track customers, as well as the more easygoing grand tour/daily driver customers. This engineer was particularly awkward/nervous for some reason, but it definitely wasn't because he was "intimidated by Jay's depth of knowledge". He was most likely nervous about what his boss will think of his performance in this review/interview, and how the video will be received by the public. He seemed like he was also just totally unfamiliar with the format of these videos, and didn't know what kinds of questions to expect. I would've thought that professionals like him would've at least watched 2 or 3 videos on this channel ahead of time so he could've at least *tried* gauge how things were going for him by comparison.
+ARMYTRIX Yeah like, really! We all see what she's doing. Iol But hey, I guess if you have it, flaunt it... even if it's on Jay Leno's garage and you're representing your car company. hmmm???

What a great review! So comprehensive in every way down to the design and engineering detail based on discussions with Michelle and Ted. Thank you Jay Leno and your crew for making this possible. Thank you to Honda, Ted Klaus and Michelle Christensen for the development of an outstanding Supercar. Sometimes the best kept secrets are the ones that are mostly kept quiet and in the case of the NSX this couldn't be more true. Just like the original NSX it took many years for the world to fully appreciate its brilliance. The Lexus LFA being yet another example.
"Alright, I gotta get one of these" That put a grin on my face. I also love how the Acura guy was glancing over at Jay anticipating the inevitable grin on his face.
I got a chance to drive one of these at a track in Las Vegas, wow, what a car. I abused that car through several laps, hard turns, WOT, braking as hard as I could push down on the peddle, and there was no smell or signs of overheating when i parked, it was as cool as when I first started it up. Wish I could afford one, they are fantastic cars.
Jay, I'm so glad for this show, I'm not sure if it makes you much money but I'm so glad for this kind of auto coverage. Especially in the absence of Top Gear, etc.

3 NSXs in different colors showed up at our cars and coffee event last year and they are even more beautiful in person to see. It's great to hear from the designer and the engineering manager how they and the NSX team designed and built the car. I'm watching this 4 years after this video was made and it still seems current. Statistically you will probably get less attention from the police in a black car (or white) of the same make and model then red, yellow, orange or any one of those colors young blond girls seem to delight in. I know that sounds a little feminist, but it only takes a little paying attention on the road to understand that it is mostly a true statement.
+cosmodave69 The word "Acura" means nothing in English, as the names of 70% of the products around us also don't. Acura is an ancient word for the god Mercury, that's where we get the word "accurate" from. Among other things, Mercury was the god of precision.
Everyone is hating on the new NSX. Call me crazy, but I'd take this thing in a heartbeat over a new Dodge Hellcat or even alot of the Porsche lineup such as the cayman. To me, it's more meaningful, the aesthetics and overall design and with Honda you know the parts are true to life and quality. Really a Honda-lover's dream car I'd say. Also, I absolutely LOVE how the air flows through the design of the body, it's SO cool. You could say I'm in love with this car, reminds me (sort of, though different distinctly) of a Trans-Am or 300GT, of course more modern and updated.
I would agree if the new NSX wouldn´t be much more expensive than all of those examples you listed up. It would be great if it came with a Caymans or Hellcats pricetag. But it´s more in the (pricewise) league with a Porsche Turbo or a Dodge Viper and almost up to the cheapest available Ferrari. And I think you would have way more fun in any of those and they also have their own unike design, wherelse the NSX looks kind of like a supercar from a arcade racing game where they didn´t bother with original licenses. Acura dealer would have a hard time to explain to me, why I should buy this over a Nissan GTR which outperforms it and is 50k cheaper...
You're right about the price, and strictly looking through the lens of a buyer you make good points, but If I had the money (and I know it's a dream scenario for the great many) I'd definitely get one. Maybe wait a few years for the price tag to drop on this one, it is brand new out the gate of course.
yes, and of course point made. If you factor price into the equation it's fair to say, it may lose in the value measure. Of course, it's truly a luxury buy and I'm simply basing my opinions off the idea that money isn't a factor. The new NSX is certainly spendy, and you won't be approaching one anytime soon without the bankroll, that's for sure. Cheaper HP can definitely be found elsewhere, but if you are in love with the aesthetics and performance like I am, you simply won't care.
So all the feats performed by Ferrari in Motorsports are nothing? Ferrari became so popular because they devastated every other manufacturer on the track.
Honda makes some of the most synergistic vehicles on the planet, and they do it for far less money than what one might expect to pay for that level of performance, handling, and reliability. I can feel it even in their least expensive models. This car must be an absolute blast.
What I liked about the original NSX is that it didn't look so much like a crazy supercar. This car is impressive, but it just doesn't grab me like the original.
It's great to have the design and engineering team there to tell the story of their car's development and to explain the thought process behind the various design features. It gives a really interesting insight that you don't see too often gives you a new perspective about the car.
That guy should go into politics. How many of Jays questions did he give a straight answer to? Whats the coefficient drag on this car? Welll, you know, we dont quote numbers cause we compare ourselves to the best and numbers change and as the large project leader I lowered everyones taxes and...
I had to watch this again. Great to see videos from a guy that actually owns the damn thing. ...Great job brother. Thanks. Love that they sent in the hot blonde chic. ....Classic hot rod.
I was also frustrated before they explained that they are directing air through the vehicle not just over it which can increase drag. Drag coefficient would also be a different number for those vehicles with the aero components etc. etc.. Low drag coefficient is more important in a vehicle designed for low fuel consumption imo.
It’s unfortunate but yeah. Sex is that mainstream that men are completely addicted to it. Its also what you get when a woman shows off her body which man are wired to like. Personal responsibility both ways.
@@jitkr1489 that's not true. some men are more perverse than others. it all has to do on your childhood, and how addictited you are to the other sex. A beautiful woman will call attention, but a more childish man will drool over, while a more mature will appreciate it and carry on.
Back in '92 (ages ago) one of the guys on my high school rugby team was given an NSX, as a graduation present.. It didn't last a wk...wrapped it around a pole on graduation nite..He was fine, thankfully...too much power for a kid, but lotsa fun for a responsible adult..
The people from the car companies always look a little nervous waiting for Jay's reaction. Then when it's clear he loves the car you can literally hear a sigh of relief.
+Bach Bababach its created by the acura team owned by honda. The same people who worked on the original honda nsx didnt work on this car. atleast not allot of them.
Shes so young for such a highly responsible job! Well done. Designing such an iconic car must have huge weight on your shoulders. Wouldv expected Honda to pick a 50 Yr old Japanese man with 30 yrs experience.
I like the new NSX. I owned and daily drove a first gen black NSX for nine years. If I were to buy a new one, I would still want black. Still love that facelift first gen in the background.
Totally underrated car. A phenomenal piece of engineering. Daily driver reliable and a world class super car.

+MetalJesusRocks Brilliant idea!
They are ridiculously expensive but maybe just maybe some crowd funding could help and a few more celebrities.
+MetalJesusRocks or you could use Willow Springs for $100/day. :)
It's the same principle as owning a private jet vs renting it. Monthly cost will destroy you vs renting a whole track for yourself.
Its a great idea but its really expensive
In about 20 years I think we gonna appreciate the new NSX for what it really is. Both old and new NSX are pretty unique for their respective era.
Yes! I really hope we do!
I feel like it was yesterday that everybody was super excited for this to come out only for it to be immediately forgotten.
Mainly forgotten because of McLaren 570s... and quite possibly the Lotus Evora 400 or 430 or Evora gt?
It's just big. It's nice. It's fast and quick. It is well done Just the design language doesn't have original NSX emotion. A great spec sheet and meeting regulatory needs doesn't light a fire.
It's died the same way lfa did. Overpriced, underperforming, & competition is better value
It’s because when the new NSX came out, all the competitors put the same numbers up 5 years earlier

Yuv.S Estd.98 Ford won, and dropped the mic!

@@BruDia until Carroll Shelby came along.
The curves on the rear end are amazing.
+deke441 you must be talking about the lady?
Honda makes some of the most synergistic vehicles on the planet, and they do it for far less money than what one might expect to pay for that level of performance, handling, and reliability. I can feel it even in their least expensive models. This car must be an absolute blast.
Her design is really amazing. If you know what I mean
Yeah, we know what you mean.
Luiz Almeida she got a nice rear end ;)
Yeah I love those "rear haunches"
Michelle Christensen is designed great all the way around and so is the new NSX.
TastyYumYums lol. yeah.... well designed rear quarter panels.
She makes it difficult to look at the car.
What car
True, what a design on her. 🙈 She is gorgeous. Smart too
@@Targetverified82 she said "CHiMSL" center high mount safety light, and all I heard was the M part 😉
Loved the part when Jay was praising the "haunches" - I had to laugh.
I don't see it, but to each their own. Haha...I wouldn't deny anyone's beauty, but that's an EXTREMELY bold statement.
Frustrating how you can't get a straight answer from that guy about drag coeficient or anything, but instead gives you a pre-prepared marketing spiel.
Gavin Irvine I wouldn't doubt that
Because the car is much more than numbers 🔢 , it's also about the future.
Kien D Luu oh i quess your in the buisness. You punk.
He must work for apple
I was also frustrated before they explained that they are directing air through the vehicle not just over it which can increase drag. Drag coefficient would also be a different number for those vehicles with the aero components etc. etc.. Low drag coefficient is more important in a vehicle designed for low fuel consumption imo.
I've never seen a car that amazingly pulls off a black paint job better than this. Handsome and sophisticated especially in this color.
It's so nice to see a hot chick talking about cars.
The male engineer looked scared shitless when Jay hit the throttle
Jay's favorite part is the rear end "haunch." Her favorite part is the one that "grew three times its size..." 22:21 27:06
After all these years and still looks like a Civic from the front. That 2005 NSX silver is a timeless beauty.
I hate when they use black cars, it hides all the lines.
Racist. Black Cars Matter.
+jlim6262 let em know brother
lol
+Panthers1521 for reason with this "thing"
+jlim6262 yea! lol
I'd rather have the original.
Seriously
+Dylan Cutchins Yep. I would choose the original all 365 days of the year.
+Ricardo Costa, i would rather have the new one, even tho i dont think it looks anything like the original.
Klaus Knudsen
You have changed my mind.
I now want this car, so I can sell it and get the original with money left over for tasteful mods.
+Ricardo Costa 366 days this year :P
Good god that sounds beautiful, what a car!
Every car guy's fantasy. Jay brings on the designer and a super intelligent babe who's a car geek steps out! Doesn't get any better.
It never ceases to amaze me how many people have never seen a woman in their life
It’s unfortunate but yeah. Sex is that mainstream that men are completely addicted to it.
Its also what you get when a woman shows off her body which man are wired to like. Personal responsibility both ways.
I am sorry but no matter how many women you see, nature has just geared men to want to mate an attractive mate. To deny nature is plain stupid.
@@jitkr1489 that's not true. some men are more perverse than others. it all has to do on your childhood, and how addictited you are to the other sex. A beautiful woman will call attention, but a more childish man will drool over, while a more mature will appreciate it and carry on.
My pee pee go shpweeee
I can appreciate a good song, a nice car, a stylish building and an attractive woman. It's what makes life worth living since I was 5
Idgaf where it was designed, it's an AMAZING piece of engineering
Chris Hollandsworth she's not that hot dude....
The only work of art I see is Michelle's body.
you put it better than i could...
You can tell that she lifts
yeah bro..I'm havin bad thoughts
Man you guys must be married to some fat chicks?
Not at all. But even God loves the Good and the Beauty..
30:04 an older model NSX also in black drives past!
This is the best looking car period!. And the designer is stunning!
7:06 seriously, why talk through design details on a BLACK car? Can barely see what you're talking about
I love black, but you're 100% right
It was probably the women’s idea
This makes me hope Gordon Murray will present a GMA T.50 with Jay one day.
Back in '92 (ages ago) one of the guys on my high school rugby team was given an NSX, as a graduation present.. It didn't last a wk...wrapped it around a pole on graduation nite..He was fine, thankfully...too much power for a kid, but lotsa fun for a responsible adult..
Bravo Michelle! Outstanding design! Unfortunately, you may have worked on the coolest project you'll ever get very early in your career.
The most beautiful auto-engineer I've ever seen !!
It's pretty obvious why the car looks like this. ;)
@thaNorthStar.com more impressive is the fact that such a young girl was the head of the project. Something very unusual
Obviously her big butt played a part in the making of this automobile.
Jay orders one like he is ordering a pizza. Must be nice
+Sjrick NO ONE SHOULD HAVE THAT MUCH DISPOSABLE INCOME. ULTRA- HIGH TAXES IS MY BAG.
+Sjrick I'm firmly convinced Jay thinks supercars are like Pokemon; gotta catch them all!
The people from the car companies always look a little nervous waiting for Jay's reaction. Then when it's clear he loves the car you can literally hear a sigh of relief.
17:34 best scene ever
Man you are right you made my work so easy thanks man thanks now i need oil or some lubricant ..
thank you! wow....the lucky guy who gets to play with that at night...

Michelle was very pleasant to listen to, she seemed down to earth. Ted was very stiff and cooperate, I wanted him to go away.
You're better off waiting for the 2018 model and let them work the bugs out of this one
true.
+Clifford Zellner Honda and bugs lol this is Japanese engineering not American/Italian :-)
+Bach Bababach its created by the acura team owned by honda. The same people who worked on the original honda nsx didnt work on this car. atleast not allot of them.
+Bach Bababach American garbage? I bet that American stealth bomber works just fine. bet you wouldn't want to doubt that
Best comment here.
I love that when Jay asks a question he does listen to the answer he asks another question before there done 🤷🏻♀️
Shes so young for such a highly responsible job! Well done. Designing such an iconic car must have huge weight on your shoulders. Wouldv expected Honda to pick a 50 Yr old Japanese man with 30 yrs experience.
lol and almost only to thank her dad for that boost
(don't get me wrong sure her skills are insane)
the car looks amazing! but that BOOTY tho... Lmao
She looks better than the car.
Yeah, nice trunk.
In automotive jargon def gives new meaning to woody. Michele is one impressive designer. Beauty par excellence and brains to match.
Yea I dont think jay hav an behind Ricky

"Fell the pleasures of MY WORK, Jay Leno, superstar celbbrity. Does it impress you, hmmm?"

I like the new NSX. I owned and daily drove a first gen black NSX for nine years. If I were to buy a new one, I would still want black. Still love that facelift first gen in the background.
