Both cars look stunning. Love Tiffs enthusiasm. Had an amazing experience with him at Thruxton years ago when I was lucky enough to accompany him on some very tail happy, tyre shredding laps in the E92 M3. Top bloke and great driver.
Ironically, Honda price themselves out of the market (probably) because of the cost of the electric motors. Shame, the NSX seems like a decent car, looks great (especially all black) and would be an even better performer without the weight of those electric motors AND it would be way cheaper making it much more tempting (just tune up the engine to make up for the loss of power from the EMs). But Honda were very late to the hypercar revolution and by the time the NSX came out, that revolution had fizzled out somewhat. All except Ferrari have produced better performing cars partly because the GT2RS or 720s don't have the additional weight of electric motors. I'd buy an R8 for 50K less and have a wail of a time with it's engine. You can't enjoy all of the R8's performance let alone the NSX or 911's, so what's the point? And if I was spending over 100K on a sports car, I'd get an Ariel Atom for the track which makes the NSX and 911 look like slugs on track anyway.

All Japanese classics are underrated. They way they talk about the Porsche you’d think it was a masterpiece with future technology and supreme excellence that we’ve all been waiting for. Oh wait, that’s the NSX ain’t it?
Porsche doesn't need flashy parts and shapes try and convince you that you are driving something special. The 911 is a refined piece of machinery. You get in, you go fast and you know everything is going to work because it is engineered so well. Just look at their racing history. Their success didn't happen by accident. I like the NSX too, as well as Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren. But If I had to chose only one, it would have to be the 911 turbo S. It has 9/10th's of the performance of the most expensive Ferrari's and Lamborghini's and you can drive it to work everyday and not have to worry too much about where you parked it or if it will start when you head home. . .
Another great video guys, absolutely love your stuff! NSX is a cool car, but give me a Turbo S or even a Turbo every time ;-) Happy 2019 and see you both soon x
Do you think it surpassed the NSX name or changed class? Because it's no longer a 300hp car. Or do you think it simply kept up its unique position with the times?
Yeah, it is a beautiful car. I don’t know what it is about this car. It’s like being assimilated to it. In a lot of the other cars... I feel like “Hey! Look at what I bought”! When I get into the NSX I feel like how I imagine Matthew McConaughey feels when he’s in the Lincoln commercials... with a mix off futuristic “badassness”.
Dynamic modern vs retro modern. I both like them, its just need different perspective to love each one of them. Doesn't matter which one is better since they are unique in their own and appeal to different type of people. But I believe, younger generation will love nsx more and 911 is for someone who pursue purity.
I'm really growing respect for this new NSX. Aside from the look (which is really growing me) this car is a proper improvement on the 1st gen while maintaining the integrity of it's predecessor.
Ian Davidson Thats the understatement because I would prefer the 911. Other cars might have a more thrilling look and are more special. But everyone knows that they shouldnt mess with you if you have a 911, specially if its a Turbo S.
I would ditch the Turbo S, save 30k and go for a (well specced) RWD GTS instead (like I did...), 9.5/10 of the speed, with all the playfulness you say the Turbo S doesn't have because it feels too safe/perfect as it has 4WD. GTS RWD (still gets the wide body) with rear wheel steer, perfect car IMO.
David I looked at the GT3, Turbo and Turbo S after looking, driving and seeing what’s involved. GT cars are hard to get insurance and is real pricy then the ride I’m daily driving the car and the GT3 would be fun for a day or so but that it. The Turbo was more insurance friendly, and was nice to daily drive yet has amazing power, but the options I wanted came as standard on the Turbo S, that’s how I determined to get the 991.2 Turbo S. But I did technically For Free .
caymanblack it is arguably more fun to drive though, it’s not all about speed. I came from a 981 boxster GTS, which was again arguably more fun than the 911 GTS, just had to scratch the 911 itch though.
911 991.2 TURBO in the UK at least, it’s not the insurance that’s the hard part, it’s actually being allowed to buy one, unless you are in your dealers pocket you have no chance unless you go for a used one. I didn’t want 4WD, so the GTS was the best option for me, I’m not a fan of the feel of any 4WD cars, they just feel too ‘safe’, not as fun IMO. A lot of times the Turbo S is a better option than a specced up Turbo, and I’m not knocking the turbo or S, it just isn’t right for me, as I wanted RWD.
David Knight I'm sure you can easily buy a Turbo. It's the GT cars that's harder and requires purchasing previous GT cars and be in the dealer's goodbooks. GTS doesn't even count.
I'd love the 911 Turbo S but the NSX is way too underrated. They say it's a mini 918 spyder for a reason, and from the smiles it brought to Paul and Tiff their faces, you can see why. Great video guys, let's see what 2019 brings to this magnificent channel!
It's a hard decision ! Very Hard must have two definitely ! When I look at NSX I have that feeling of the future something that's never gonna get old Porsche like unmistakable present at every moment when you need it !
I have now driven both thanks to a friend at Miller Motorsports track in UT. Here's what I can tell you and keep it very simple.... If you want driving perfection, go with the Porsche. If you want to turn heads and work a little more for the fast lap times, go with the NSX. Both are awesome cars, they just achieve their speed in different ways. The Porsche makes you feel like a hero immediately, the NSX is more sensitive to inputs and can be over or under driven depending on your abilities, but it can go just as fast once you learn how to drive it the way it's meant to be driven. It's really all about preference.... either one will make you very happy.
Flat 6 Turbo,behind the rear axle,precision steering.Faster then anything,Motoring perfection.Visceral howl,screaming shriek that tells you you're close to death-Nothing.Thats most of the fun,cheating death. V-10@8700rpm,heaven on earth.
I like understatement in my high performance cars, and no one does it better than Porsche. The NSX has all of these fancy electronic stuff that has the potential to break or malfunction, but the Turbo S is as simple as it's always been, and it gets the job done. Can't easily say that about others in its class.
Was non attached to any given brand....then over attached 911 fanboy after owning the infamous 2002 in a convertible. I know where NEDs at. That said, the NSX is the one car that takes me back to the objective person I was. I read one comment that said “underrated” in relation to the NSX Yes it would be a VERY brave choice. But I’d forced to go hardtop.....NSX it is
NSX has lots of features such its sound system created and tuned on the car cockpit with ELS Studio with 16 speakers, just to say how refined it is.... It is not a plug and play parts available on market car, it is a tailor made car on desired specs.
I keep reading these reviews of the various portions, and the only thing anybody can find wrong with it is that “it’s too perfect”! If I had that kind of money, I think I could live with the two perfect car.
I feel like you guys should have taken them both on track to really find the key differences.. Maybe an irrelevant test, but seeing Tiff drive on track is always a laugh!
I will always prefer the 911 as it has a 2+2 seater, convenient for young small family like mine, used to bring along my two little children behind that awesome car.. i first owned the 911 turbo in 1999, now keep on upgrading till the latest, the same time in 1999 I owned the NSX but letting go after few years, when this new model came in I just look at it, never own one yet hihi... tq guys..😬💪
Regarding simplicity of controls, we have 2 Honda Jazz ("Fit" in the US) for shopping/driving lessons/etc, one old Mk1 and one new, and I MUCH prefer the old one's mechanical twist-knobs over the new one's computer controlled up/down buttons. You can just reach out and twist in half a second without taking your eyes off the road. I would prefer (nicely done) twist-knobs whatever the price of car.
Amazing cars indeed but both of you presenters are epic. I love car videos but when presented with such style i could even watch a video on a Ford Edcort (maybe).
I love my 911 Turbo, but when Japan decides to build a high end sports car, you know it is going to be something special. The early NSX was underrated, and considered a 328 wannabe, but the NSX was one of the finest sports cars ever made. I am sure this one is no exception.
Loving cars means appreciating every car of every type for its own unique way, characteristics and style. So, in regards to the dilemma between the two, in my case it does not exist. I would be happy to drive/own either of them, after I remap them for some more bhp and torque. Keep it up guys!
For 99.99% of people on this earth, these cars will only remain a dream... I don't see any need to spend so much money on any car, no matter how good it is. I stick with my 20 year old Honda Integra Type R...300,000 km and I've never touched the engine...rev it to 9,000 very day and it has never missed a beat. That's all the pleasure I need.
The 911 is just such an amazing package, fitting 4 seats and so much storage into such a compact supercar (especially the older generations) is impressive.
le m it’s better to have them than not, you have to move the front seats more forward than usual and the rear passengers have to slouch and tilt their heads (unless it’s the cabrio) but that’s better than making them bring a whole separate car. It’s not for road tripping but it’s great for short trips. I prefer having tiny back seats like the 911 over big useable ones as the car still retains the proportions, side visibility, and front seat space of a 2 seater.
i bought the old nsx 2005 and bought the 2019 orange nsx and its damn awesome , i need the quiet mode cause i usually get home at 3am and dont want to disturb the neighbors but porsche is getting old now , please change body style its been like this since they started.
Porsche might think of everything but they didn't always think of things first, the Mitsubishi 3000GT had active front and rear aero back in the early 90s.
Both cars are my dream cars, but comparison of a normal NSX base car to a Porsche 911 turbo S is not fair compare. When Rich bastards start buying and request type R, version and GT 3 , or GTS Will be more comparable. Thanks for your review of sorts and your show.
my brain is suggesting me the 911. More practical as an everyday car. It's just like a beautiful model. you can dress her in any suit and she would look fabulous anytime. my soul suggests me the Nsx...it's like a woman you love. it seems better even when it is worse.
Apples and oranges...both are tasty. NSX feels like you're driving a typical Acura vehicle albeit a very fast one. 911 has that typical Teutonic race bred perfection that Porsche has baked into every 911 from day one. Give me the keys to the 911...
Lol as an American it sounds funny to me as well, though I believe Acura does not operate outside of North America, so all models in the Honda/Acura lineup are just Honda in overseas markets. I think Infiniti (Nissan) is similar iirc.
That NSX actually looks REALLY good in blue. The other colors really don't suit it too well, but this one actually gave me a new perspective on the NSX's exterior styling, which I did used to find a bit lacking.
NSX or 911?
911!!

911's are everywhere and if one is in your rearview mirror you have to be a geek to know it is not a Cayman or Boxster from the front.
The problem with 911's is that they look like every other 911 to 99.9% of people. The NSX actually looks exotic.
sdlausen do you buy cars for 99.9% of people or do you buy cars for yourself?
I think most people buy 911's because they want to stay lowkey instead of being all flashy
If Porsche changes the looks of their 911,it will be a sad story, look at the 996,they just changed the headlights and people hated it
Then they see the Honda badge
So immature to buy a car to impress people, the only people that will be impressed are teenage boys

Flat 6 Turbo,behind the rear axle,precision steering.Faster then anything,Motoring perfection.Visceral howl,screaming shriek that tells you you're close to death-Nothing.Thats most of the fun,cheating death. V-10@8700rpm,heaven on earth.
911 , but I want both if pocket deep enough , nsx always one of my favourites
👍👍
I like understatement in my high performance cars, and no one does it better than Porsche. The NSX has all of these fancy electronic stuff that has the potential to break or malfunction, but the Turbo S is as simple as it's always been, and it gets the job done. Can't easily say that about others in its class.
More fabulous content. What a way to start the year.
Thank you very much Nick. Happy New Year!
911 is just an awesome piece of engineering, great video guys as usual 👍👍👍👍
Thank you Lesley 👍
I would fall in love with that blue nsx
Was non attached to any given brand....then over attached 911 fanboy after owning the infamous 2002 in a convertible. I know where NEDs at. That said, the NSX is the one car that takes me back to the objective person I was. I read one comment that said “underrated” in relation to the NSX
Yes it would be a VERY brave choice. But I’d forced to go hardtop.....NSX it is
😻😻😻
These are the BEST car videos on youtube!
That's high praise! Thank you and happy new year!
Great video as ever, fantastic start to 2019 guys 👍🏻
Thank you N Fox. We are big fans of your channel
What an awesome way to start of the year. The new transitions, drone shots are excellent. Great job Paul, Tiff and Lovecars team.
Thank you very much and happy new year!
Carbon wheels look stunning. Stay away from those kerbs though 😬
Yes, good call! 👍
Not one to lend to the wife for sure.
They are great tech - but not much to look at. Can't they fab them with a deep dish? Or thin spokes?
NSX has lots of features such its sound system created and tuned on the car cockpit with ELS Studio with 16 speakers, just to say how refined it is....
It is not a plug and play parts available on market car, it is a tailor made car on desired specs.
Nsx wins in looks by a lot
I keep reading these reviews of the various portions, and the only thing anybody can find wrong with it is that “it’s too perfect”! If I had that kind of money, I think I could live with the two perfect car.
Can't afford either, but if I could, it would be the 911.
Join the club! Happy New Year!
@@lovecarsTV Happy New Year to everyone at Lovecars.
How does the NSX have us spec with a honda badge on the hood?
Maybe software?
Both are masterpiece 🙃
Missed these videos 👌 great quality and unbiased
Thank you very much and happy new year
NSX any day!!
Im not updated anymore is carshow Fifth Gear still existing in UK?
I feel like you guys should have taken them both on track to really find the key differences.. Maybe an irrelevant test, but seeing Tiff drive on track is always a laugh!
Was not permitted on the manufacturer loan agreement 👍
I agree, would like to see Tiffen push both cars to the limit ...
911 model range offers so much variety for all types of owners.
Wish they had a slightly more affordable and mild nsx.
911 Turbo any time!
I will always prefer the 911 as it has a 2+2 seater, convenient for young small family like mine, used to bring along my two little children behind that awesome car.. i first owned the 911 turbo in 1999, now keep on upgrading till the latest, the same time in 1999 I owned the NSX but letting go after few years, when this new model came in I just look at it, never own one yet hihi... tq guys..😬💪
I saw both of you parked at the side of the road the day u filmed this love the roads out in that area, wish I stopped to say hi 😂😂
Should have come and said hello 👋
Regarding simplicity of controls, we have 2 Honda Jazz ("Fit" in the US) for shopping/driving lessons/etc, one old Mk1 and one new, and I MUCH prefer the old one's mechanical twist-knobs over the new one's computer controlled up/down buttons. You can just reach out and twist in half a second without taking your eyes off the road.
I would prefer (nicely done) twist-knobs whatever the price of car.
I mean, the NSX looks good, but I just can't turn down a 911.
Fair enough
This is just pure torture - i can't decide to pick which one since both car has been my favourites for ages.
Amazing cars indeed but both of you presenters are epic. I love car videos but when presented with such style i could even watch a video on a Ford Edcort (maybe).
Nice, refreshing video men. Which I would choose?? The Honda NSX in white and a 718 Boxster GTS ........
Porsche every day and twice on Sunday!
I love my 911 Turbo, but when Japan decides to build a high end sports car, you know it is going to be something special. The early NSX was underrated, and considered a 328 wannabe, but the NSX was one of the finest sports cars ever made. I am sure this one is no exception.
No argument here
Nsx
You said it is a US spec but it is branded as a Honda? How is this possible did they change the Acura badges?
Beautiful cars!
Awesome stuff boys, as allways! And happy new year everyone.
Thank you and same to you 👍
911 turbo all day 👏🏽🙌🏽🔥
Turbo S 👍
Loving cars means appreciating every car of every type for its own unique way, characteristics and style. So, in regards to the dilemma between the two, in my case it does not exist. I would be happy to drive/own either of them, after I remap them for some more bhp and torque.
Keep it up guys!
thank you. Very good comment 👍
You should really do this again with 2020 NSX
And the 992, which now renders the NSX obsolete.
Another fantastic and enjoyable Vid. 👍🏼
Turbo S every day of the week although the NSX is a nice-looking vehicle with a big punch. I'd like to know where that beautiful house was.
How would you refurb carbon fibre wheels? Im only asking
Sounds amazing
👍👍👍
Nsx for me. Of the 2 it stands out more. Great tech in the car underpinnings too....
Love Tiff! And Paul...... For getting Tiff! 😂😂😂😂
Ha!! Good to hear, thank you!!
How much is NSX Honda 2019 cost? How many horsepower?
Porsche might think of everything but they didn't always think of things first, the Mitsubishi 3000GT had active front and rear aero back in the early 90s.
Too bad it didn't actually do anything, though.
He didn't say they were first, I'd argue they understand how to integrate this stuff more than anyone. The 3000gt was a techno snoozefest
Porsche 959 was the first road car to feature active aero - four years before Mitsubishi.
@@bencheesecake8795 If it did nothing how come active aero is on most performance cars today?
In your opinion it did nothing, you are wrong though.
@@parky2310 Front & rear spoilers?
I don't think so.
The rear wing is fixed in the 959.
Both cars are my dream cars, but comparison of a normal NSX base car to a Porsche 911 turbo S is not fair compare. When Rich bastards start buying and request type R, version and GT 3 , or GTS Will be more comparable. Thanks for your review of sorts and your show.
I am just here for Tiff Needell...
This channel needs more subscriber!
Thanks Matt! Happy new year 👍
my brain is suggesting me the 911. More practical as an everyday car. It's just like a beautiful model. you can dress her in any suit and she would look fabulous anytime.
my soul suggests me the Nsx...it's like a woman you love. it seems better even when it is worse.
😂👍
Great video, as always! I'm recognising a lot of those roads.
Hampshire 👍
Apples and oranges...both are tasty. NSX feels like you're driving a typical Acura vehicle albeit a very fast one. 911 has that typical Teutonic race bred perfection that Porsche has baked into every 911 from day one. Give me the keys to the 911...
Shout out to the editor of this video! Really creative and just perfect use of each clip!!
I read Tiff I click....what is this channel?
Superb entertainment, and fun, as great cars should be. Looking forward to seeing more videos this year. Happy New Year. Regards, Bob
I know Honda is parent company but I cannot call NSX a Honda NSX. Acura NSX!!!
Depends where you live I suppose
Lol as an American it sounds funny to me as well, though I believe Acura does not operate outside of North America, so all models in the Honda/Acura lineup are just Honda in overseas markets. I think Infiniti (Nissan) is similar iirc.
Calisto Riviera China and Russia have had the brand for a while.
That NSX actually looks REALLY good in blue. The other colors really don't suit it too well, but this one actually gave me a new perspective on the NSX's exterior styling, which I did used to find a bit lacking.
