I mean, he did plan for them to think he was going all the way to Luxembourg. Which they did. That's why his slip maneuver worked.
Game theory sort of requires a certain amount of randomness so your opponent can't adopt a dominant strategy. The less your opponent is correctly certain of, the less they can plan for.

It's not a big advantage - the next stop is close and has access to fast trains while Ben is limited to local trains.

I think Sam felt he had no real chance of winning. It was the third day, the chances of tracking both Ben and Adam down and getting to his region were very slim. So he just let Adam take the lead.

Ben predicting what they were doing based off of a tweet, and getting off just by "luck" in the part the seekers weren't searching until after the train left were both just amazing moments! I'm loving the tag across Europe series! Definitely my favorite jet jag seasons. (no wonder this was the first format they've done twice)

From someone who takes that train from Breda to Brussels every day: officially it actually stops at 20:00 at Noorderkempen, and leaves the station at 20:01. They just only advertise the departure time in most apps.
So I guess you could have legally taken it!

Hands down this is one of the best episodes in all 7 seasons. Plot twists, great fillers. The only thing it lacks is The Snack Zone.
On a different note, Ben's version of JetLag seems so much more fascinating than Sam and Adam's. 😂

I love how Ben used vinegar instead of oil
Vinaigrette is a mix of vinegar and some other component containing fat. Ben said "theres oil at the bottom of this" so he must have found vinaigrette with oil
And that totally shouldn't have counted as making mayonnaise...
And doesn't separate the egg.
He mentioned on the nebula podcast that he couldn't find oil, so needed to improvise.
@@ryba5353 While it is definitely not real mayonnaise, the challenge only requires the runner to emulsify some egg and oil together.
There are no rules saying you can't have a bunch of other ingredients inside, like the white of the egg or vinegar. The "mayonnaise" Ben made did contain emulsified egg and oil despite not actually being mayonnaise.
I love how Ben getting off the train, leaving Adam and Sam stuck on it looking for him, is almost an exact reverse of the situation from the first tag season where Ben got on the train Adam and Sam had just gotten off, leaving them behind

Ben saying that he has to stay at Howald for 10 minutes and the ride from Howald to Luxembourg being 4 minutes, leads me to believe that Sam and Adam might just have had enough time to get on the train Ben wants to get on. Excited to see if they made it.
If it's a 4 min ride between the stations, and Ben has to wait 10 mins, then Sam and Adam literally only have 2 minutes to navigate and find the train and get on it.
And yet they must manage somehow to do so if there's still another episode to come?!
Looking at the timetable, the 411 Kautenbach train that Adam and Sam got on gets to Luxembourg at 12:39 on platform 10, whereas the 88257 Nancy train that Ben wants to get on leaves 12:39 from platform 8. So unless the Nancy train was delayed that day, they probably won't make it. The next towards Metz is then at 12:58 though
The Twitter deduction and his brilliant strat in getting off at the right time and throwing them off thinking he'd continue on to Luxembourg Station. I'm all for Team Ben for the win.

That ending was the absolutely best possible result for Ben in that situation. A total 50/50, where everything had to line up perfectly in timing. And with that situation it was clearly more likely that it would benefit him because you two were intent on getting on the train whereas he was getting off of it. The likelihood of that happening is insane.
When Ben got on the train to Howald I saw he entered at the back and Sam and Adam entered at the front and I told Ben through the screen “sneak out the back.” And he actually did. One of the jet lag moments ever

I adore how Ben is travelling around Europe with a backpack as colourful as the one I had, travelling by train around Europe aged 7.
I went to mainland Europe for the first time just a couple of weeks ago, and it really is upping my enjoyment of this show, especially seeing the Brussels airport trainstation where my family got stranded for a bit at almost midnight

I hope that either next episode or during Tag Season 3 (bc you know it's gonna happen), the game won't end by sudden death and someone reaches their win location before the timer runs out! Maybe next time they need to give challenges more coins, or give the Chasers a longer wait time, or something. I just wanna see someone win, instead of not lose.

All the train times lined up to cause the chasers the maximum amount of confusion in a such short space of time.
