If they took the shinkansen theres no way around Omiya. But the thing is, they need not to go pass Omiya. Sam can return his flag at Takahashi as it's over the line a slight bit. Though escaping Omiya is difficult. There are two ways around but both ways take quite a while. Shorter route would be Takasaki ~ Kuragano ~ Hachiko Line ~ Hachioji. The issue is this line have so little train (0~1 per hour off peak hours) and its possible for Ben to defend. Another way i could think of is go to Oyama then Mito line, change to Joban line to Tokyo. This route have much more frequent trains but long distance.

Scotty chasing down ben in the very beginning was INTENSE! Felt like a Proper footrace. It was Great! We dont often get to see just an old school footrace on jet lag.

Just a little bummed that the flags aren't *really* spread out through the entire country, because there's a lot of ground both south and north of each of the furthest flags, but I guess that would have made for too long a game.
@@mfaizsyahmi I believe the full 3 points are awarded for winning the round, not just captured flags. So they need to be going pedal to the medal the whole time just to ensure they're still ahead of Sam and Scotty in number of flags and distance carried.
Yea, I expected the flags being placed in Kyuushu and Hokkaido, for example in Fukuoka and Hakodate... but I guess with around 5h for a one-way trip with the Shinkansen that would likely force them to stay overnight on the way to or from the flag making production more complicated and also just having them ride the Shinkansen for 10h is less exciting than some crazy interception scheming like we will see in the next episode.
The chase between Ben and Scotty was great. I also love how the moment Adam needs to find a wave, Sam is wearing a wave sweater. Also, he looked adorable as Hello Kitty. (I hope he gave the rest of the pads to his gf, that sh*t is expensive!)

actually, it would be rather interesting if you got more points for doing challenges the deeper you are in enemy territory or the closer you are to an enemy player. would add some more risk/reward to the act of sitting right next to the border

This was one of my favorite episodes of all jetlag. The back and forth with ben and scotty. The pink bow! Only Adam, who has seemingly 0 shame, could own a massive pink bow like that while getting on public transport.
The back and forth chase between Ben and Scotty was really fun to watch. Ben is not usually a high stakes chaser so it was cool to see him in a different “role” per se. This has probably been the best Jet Lag episode yet!!
I recently had an Idea for a new season: Sam had to go to Switzerland in Tag Across Europe but never got there, which made me as a Swiss very sad. So here's the Idea. There is the Board Game Tour of Switzerland (I'm sure that that sort of game exists for other countries as well) In that game you start from a given Point in the country and you have to get to like 6 different locations (by train or Bus), those Location give points after you complete a small place-specific challenge (like the ones in The New Zealand season), but to reach the Location you need coins, in which by doing you normal challenges (like the ones in this Season) or you can buy "event" cards which can: give / take coins / points, force you to go somewhere, and/or to complete a challenge
Forgot to add: You win the Game by Points, the first one back at the start gets bonus points, after that the game ends, the Locations awards points by difficulty of the local challenge, the 6 drawn locations at the start are unique for each team and there arw shared locations which reward points for the first one to arrive there, after that a new shared location is drawn
The only problem is, Switzerland is quite a small country, but what would be cool is if they did it across Europe, or even several continents (one of the locations could still be in switzerland)
Just Switzerland seems way too small compared to Tag Across Europe or Capture the Flag Across Japan, especially since Switzerland has so many mountains and there are barely any railways in the south. What I can see is using Switzerland and all bordering countries, namely Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Italy and France. Though tbh, I feel like Austria would be the better choice in this case since it wasn't part of Tag Across Europe and it instead of France, which was extensively covered in Tag Across Europe, it borders Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia; countries that very rarely get any international coverage. Also, your argument that Switzerland was never reached also applies to the U.K., which was part of the map but never visited, and IIRC also to the Netherlands.
This is by far my favourite episode so far! The chase between Ben and Scotty was visualized so well and next episode there is a battle going on between Sam and Adam. Can't wait till next week
I as always just love the show, the quality, the creativity, and Ben. Nonetheless I do think it is a bit of a bummer we hardly get to see any of Japan - especially for a travelshow. I am kinda hoping there will be a Pt2 to Jetlag in Japan. Nonetheless Thanks for the show!

As an Australian/American citizen the problem with Australia would be that the whole inner and western part is desert but maybe they could do the East coast of Australia where most of the population is.
It would be cool to see but it would take way too long to record, unless they had the option for flight which would just make it like all their America seasons
interesting things i didn’t think of. maybe a country like Malaysia would be interesting because each side would get an island though there are some size discrepancies which could lead to issues.
There is unfortunately simply just not enough railway to do something like this. To Darwin in the north and to Perth in the west there is just one railway line each, making predictions what train someone took obvious. And to get from Adelaide (north-west of Melbourne) to Darwin takes literally 42h of train riding...
Already happened when they played Tag in Europe, one of them if I remember correctly got caught because of a delayed train. At a train station I was stranded multiple times myself 😂
I think the smarter play for Ben and Adam at the start of this round would have been to travel to the near flag together to not only save coins but while Adam is getting the flag Ben could do challenges just outside the flag safe zone in case he's targeted to avoid getting tagged

Me too! In my case not so much hearing but sometimes I can't understand what they're saying as English is not my mother tongue.
The subtitles are also color coded by who said it, and it's in italic when Sam is narrating. Just little details much appreciated from the team!

If Adam waited to do the wave challenge until he got a bit further south he could have gotten double points. He was right next to Kanagawa.
All he needs to do, is walk south across the bridge to Minami-Tama station.
Kanagawa is literally a 10-minute train ride from there.

Already happened when they played Tag in Europe, one of them if I remember correctly got caught because of a delayed train. At a train station I was stranded multiple times myself 😂
Trust me, other trains are also late... Come to Canada and ride on the corridor. Never on time. but it is the part of the game.
I think the smarter play for Ben and Adam at the start of this round would have been to travel to the near flag together to not only save coins but while Adam is getting the flag Ben could do challenges just outside the flag safe zone in case he's targeted to avoid getting tagged
