Yeah; sick props to Alaskan Airlines for that!
That was awesome!!

Love Alaska Airline 🤣💜
As a Canadian, casually just calling a Walmart and asking them if they sell guns has got to be one of the most American things I have ever seen.
Also, not counting military museums, that is probably the most amount of guns I've ever seen in one place at the same time.
As an American, I agree, but to be fair, Alaska is a bit of a special case.
As an American... it isn't that special a case. I live in Massachusetts and they don't have guns in Walmart here... But they do in most Red states.
@@Sam_on_RUclips I think they mean Alaska is a special case in the sense that there are good reasons for people to own guns there, so guns being super common is less surprising.
@@zyill If that's what they meant, sure. Alaska is the one state in America where it actually makes sense to own a serious weapon like that. The only state with animals that actually do hunt and eat humans.
But displays like that are common at Walmart in any red state, no matter how little sense it makes.
@@davidguthary8147 To be fair, when it comes to Walmart stocking guns, you can add Texas, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and probably a few other mid-western states.
Michelle correctly predicting Adams reaction and then the editor immediately cutting to Adam doing exactly that will forever be the funniest thing to me

That flight attendant is my new favorite member of Team Adam and Ben!

edit: her name was keaundra and she helped them complete their challenge and was just overall thrilled to being involved
I screamed a bit when that announcement was made. Adam and Ben made it, the flight attendant recognized them. Your famous. 😊❤️
@@xSoupdumplingx Idk if she just randomly recognised them, since they did say they asked about the flight time and she said when they were scheduled to land, so they probably explained it at that time. She could of course still be a fan, but they could've easily just said "we're doing a type of race where we can't book the next flight before we land" and she was just nice enough to help them along the way. :)

I really thought that Ben and Adam were gonna do that challenge

As a Canadian, the thought of taking a hike in the woods in near total darkness and HOPING to come across a moose? I feel like those are the actions of somebody who had not properly grappled with the actual scale of one of North America’s last surviving Megafauna.
Finally, someone talking about the IMPORTANT issues.
Signed,
- A Floridian who has shot an alligator
I’ve seen a moose in Algonquin Park. It was pretty chill. Maybe like 10 meters away. But seeing one in person you realized just how frickin’ big they are. I would NOT want to piss of Pfizer or spook a moose. Least of all a moose while it’s pitch black out.

Im from maine, was bewildered that the were just blissfully strolling through the forest wanting to come across one, those things will fuck you up quick.
I was camping with family in Northern Idaho when I was 10 or 12 and I came around a hill at high speed on my bike. I almost ran face first into this giant moose and near shit myself. Luckily there was a small bike path to my right that I could slowly back away into. Could’ve died at any moment.
When I lived in Idaho still moose shut down school all the time. Like we’re talking lockdowns because a certain megafauna decided to set up shop in the playground. I figure those of us who live in the North have a healthy respect for those murder machines.
The episode containing the snack zone. What we await every season. (Minus the ben drunk one)

As a European, the craziest thing in this video is them just calling the foodstore, asking if they have a gun section AND THEY DO?!? Mental
walmart isnt a food store, it includes a grocery section but its just a super center where they have everything. This includes sports goods and hunting rifles.
American supermarkets can be quite a trip for the uninitiated.
Wallmart having guns is a known thing if you watch enough videos about everything, but being able to call and it all be so chill probably goes better in such a hunt heavy location.
My first thought was how that challenge might be harder for non Americans because I knew immediately that’s where they’d go, but some folks might not know lol
@@0Clewi0 well ya need to call, because not every Wal-Mart has guns. Sometimes you need to go to a sporting goods store or a gun specific store instead depending on the location.
Imagine being a passerby and hearing someone say: "Let's cry at the zoo."

I want to one day have a flight attendant ask the whole plane to let me off first due to my quirky stupid very important task.

"Where would we find a gun?"
"Wal-Mart?"
This is peak America!
Yeah, when the challenge went up, my first reaction as a european was like: "Oh great, now they have to find one of the two cops patrolling Anchorage." - but then I remembered that Alaska was still America and immediately the pendulum swung all the way to "Wait, that challenge is way too easy." (especially since Alaska is the state with the highest gun-per-capita rate, where there are more guns than residents)
@@QemeH There are more guns than residents on average across the entire USA.
USA's population is 330 million, and there are nearly 400 millions guns
@@QemeH There are more guns than people in the entire US, but that's besides the point. If they really thought about it, they could have just looked up a regular gun store. It's pretty much guaranteed that there are going to be plenty of gun and outdoor stores that service the MANY hunters that live and travel through Alaska. It isn't uncommon for hunters to effectively rent guns by buying them when they arrive and selling them back before they leave, because traveling with firearms can be a pain whether it is on a plane or trying to import through Canada by road.
Then again, as a European, you should be aware that Switzerland has the highest rate of gun ownership in the world. Many Swiss citizens even keep their military service rifles after they leave their mandatory service period.
@@ShaggyRogers1 I know of Switzerland and their gun laws - and I guarantee you that it would not be as easy as "go to the next convenience store" to see a gun there. Because contrary to the US the swiss take gun safety serious and make the owner of a firearm responsible for what happens to it. Which means that for most of the many weapons in Switzerland they are locked in a safe or stored on a gun range - i.e. out of view of the general public. Just like any other european country your best bet to see a gun in Switzerland would be to find a cop.
@@QemeH Again, guns are sold in stores. It isn't that hard to process. How do you think the guns are purchased before being locked up in safes?
I guarantee there are hunters in your country. How do you think those hunters acquire their hunting rifles and/or shotguns? They buy them from gun and hunting stores.

Finding a wild moose is actually one of the most dangerous things you guys have done in this series! I’m Canadian and people are generally less afraid of bears than moose! 😂
There have legitimately been people who hit a moose with their car accidentally and their car was totaled but the moose just walked away 😂
right? I thought these guys were nuts going out into dark and essentially spooking a moose, if they would have found one. could have been lethal!
When I was in the military I had a class with a couple of guys who had spent time in Alaska and had moose stories. Yep, they would not recommend trying to find a moose in the wild. If it charges at you, you are likely fucked.
As a northern European, I had the same thought. I would NEVER go out and look for a moose on purpose in the wild. Imagine they'd find a cow with her calf, or an angry bull, they'd be fucking dead. Moose are HUGE and can get very dangerous very quickly.
@@thespankmyfrank exactly they’re giant so without a weapon there’s pretty much nothing you can do to defend yourself. Also, something that makes them even more terrifying is that they can actually swim so if they decided to chase them there’s pretty much nowhere they could have gone to get away 😬
As an Australian this comment thread has been eye opening. I never would have thought you need to be afraid of moose, other than just generally being careful around wild animals!

Bro whatever Ben and Adam did at 31:26 was probably the greatest move in Jet Lag history!
I'm sad they didn't explain what was behind it, not even in the Nebula podcast. I guess the easiest explanation is that Adam explained what they were up to when the flight attendant went past them (he often does that), that or she's a fan of the show and recognized them.
@FairyCRat I figured they asked her her opinion on when the booking deadline might be, since it was ambiguous, for the next flight and explained why. I'd like to think she just did that on her own accord for them lol.

Not gonna lie...I'm both glad and sad that the cards are replaced by an app. It makes perfect sense to have all that on an app for complete randomness and fairness. On the other hand, it's a bit less visually interesting. Would be kind of nice if we had some kind of on screen representation on what's happening in the background.
It's probably because they need to have the same "cards". So one player can update the flop and that is shared to the others. Also each day has a small pool, so there's not as many to shuffle properly
@@Dr.Death8520 Makes sense. I made the comment at the start of the episode, and only really remembered how the new system works a bit later. :)
I think that's just for this season, they will go back to cards for future seasons I reckon (If both/all teams don't have the same pool of cards of course). Cards are actually more reliable and flexible since you can "use" them at any time. For the app you potentially have to worry about internet access, power etc. Things you might not always have, especially in more rural places. For this season, I imagine they don't go too far into the wilderness and stay pretty close to urban centres, so that's no problem. Also, you can't do cool "use this card to do X" challenges without them. I only remember one of those, but still.
I think they did the same thing in season 4, since they often had to exchange cards between the teams, who were constantly in different places.

I just wanted to say that as someone from Austria, the fact that in America you can appearantly just call up your local supermarket and ask if they sell guns a) without being looked at strangely b) without being put on some sort of a watchlist and c) have the store _actually sell guns_ is completely insane to me.
Most, if not all Wal-Marts, at least in rural areas, sell guns. Most of them in big cities don't, but there are exceptions (like the one in today's video, apparently.
@@PalmelaHanderson Juneau is only a big city by Alaskan standards. Its really just a big rural town.
Wal-Mart isn't really a grocery store. The grocery section is large but there's an electronics and games department, toys, men's/women's/children's clothing departments, auto supplies (and sometimes an auto repair section), and more.

There's a podcast I listen to. National Park After Dark, it's called. Two friends take turns teaching each other about real life horror stories set in national parks around the world. Deaths, disappearances, encounters with various Bigfoot-type Cryptids... The two hosts have both lived their entire lives hiking and camping in places like Colorado, New Hampshire, and Washington State. You know, places that ostensibly have moose, and yet both of them could count their combined moose sightings on one hand. They often joke on the podcast that moose aren't real, they're actually just some grand conspiracy, and enough listeners wrote in expressing their skepticism that the podcast made "moose aren't real" T-shirts. Based on my experiences camping around Yellowstone, Washington, and other moose areas -including five weeks around Alaska- and my persistent bad luck seeing the animals, I absolutely bought one of those shirts.
All that to say, I got a good laugh out of team Sam's struggle to find that damn moose, especially in the freaking moose exhibits at the zoo. Though I am disappointed to see the zoo is complicit in the conspiracy. Out of fairness for Ben and Adam, I have to ask: are you really sure that wasn't a reindeer or some other similar animal playing its part in the cover-up??
In all seriousness though, I absolutely loved my one trip to Alaska, so much so that I'm going back in a couple months, hopefully only my first of two trips up there in 2024.
