"I don't know if the Delta reservation system listens to Scorpio season" that is 100% the first time that sentence has ever been uttered in human history

One of my co workers has been watching for awhile and when he watched this one he asked me if I remember them and I said yeah I won’t forget the pressure I was under and questioning if I was allowed to do what I had done lol then he told me about the show so I watched the first two episodes before getting to my part. Your quick thinking was incredible to witness. Would have never thought about standby as the solution to that problem!
Important lesson from this episode: Always be extremely polite to your gate agent (and other customer service workers) and they'll usually do their best to help you out. Don't be a dick regardless, since they're human beings and deserve respect, but especially don't be a dick when you need them to go the extra mile for you.
Or, as said in American Gods by Niel Gaimen "Do not. Mess with. Those B*these. In airports."
I don't think Adam was being a dick towards the gate agent at the start of the episode
@@op00200 I know, that's what I'm saying--Adam WASN'T being a dick, therefore the gate agent was willing to pull the standby-passenger trick to get them on the plane.
yeah. I firmly belive everyone should have at least 6 months to a year working in service-related jobs. The world would be so much better for it.
Something that seems really hard to understand for some people. I work for the Gouvernement and I have a roll where I can decide how long you will have to wait to get your money from the Gouvernement. It's Incredible how many people have a hard time to get that and are extremely rude and aggressiv. And normally I do everything I can to help the people as fast as I can. I know that some of them really need to get the money to survive, but boy, you start to be rude and you can be sure that your waiting time will be longer....
Adam's very respectful "yes ma'am" might just have kept Ben and Adam in the game

I find it funny that whenever Ben & Adam need to explain Jet Lag to someone, instead of starting with "I'm in a competition" or "I'm part of a game show" or something like that, they always introduce it as "we're doing a stupid thing" or "we're doing a strange thing".
Gotta love it haha
If I was going to explain it to someone I would probably say "ever seen the TV show The Amazing Race, its like that but not that"
I find it also funny that it's always Ben & Adam who wind up in a situation where they have to explain they're playing a game. Like that time when they took Uber in Delaware, or when they had to explain why they must specifically rent Chevy. XD
@@jfwfreo I'd do "so I'm doing something that is very strange and we are on a very tight schedule

Given all their bad luck, it was pretty impressive Ben and Adam managed to catch up after Sam and Michelle's huge lead.

The best duo of the decade
Realll
I like the diversity of the challenges
"Try to get a cookie from your forehead into your mouth"
"Fund the military industrial complex"
The idea for the flop is very interesting but it transformed into burning thru tickets until i get a plane ticket, 3 episodes in and there were no other form of transportation than plane, i think it would be grate if the plane was in first two days to get out of Alaska and then there should be using more car/train tickets
Certainly could do with a rule along the lines of “you can only burn 3 cards per day” or something. Even just having a rule that you must use each form of transport at least once on your journey
It is a little bit boring that they are only traveling by plane for the most part, but I think part of the fun of Jet Lag is going to all sorts of different places and doing wacky things, giving an opportunity to explore the world in a unique way, and having to burn through cards by doing a bunch of challenges allows for them to do that. The Flop also allows for more strategy than the random cards and points system in previous seasons. It needs a bit more work balancing the different forms of transportation, but I think it could work well if done right.
I mean the trains and cars are decent but cars for some extra mobility to drive to a better city for flights, and trains could be used mainly for overnight trains because overnight trains allow for you to spend more time moving.
@@carsonr3909 The win conditions could be whoever gets there first with the lowest carbon footprint, making trains more desireable
I don't even know what train transport is available in the US. Everything I've seen is generally short distance for an "old-timey" thing. And taking a car is substantially slower, even though flying everywhere isn't very interesting.

Sam sounding consistently bewildered/exhausted by Michelle’s enthusiasm is absolutely my favourite thing about this season so far 😂
OMG YES IT WAS SO FUNNY!!
Michelle: WIN NOW WIN
Sam: [stares into the void where the eldritch being who cursed him to be unlucky lives] This is fine
Adam unknowingly stumbling into the bins is absolutely SENDING me
i was DYING at his description
As soon as they said goodwill outlet i lost my mind
I did not know this was a thing but then I remember hearing an NPR story about a liquidation center which seems similar. Individuals were grabbing just anything so that they could then flip it on Facebook market or Craigslist for extra money and some of them made pretty good side hustle money from it. Is that a similar goal for people who go to goodwill outlet bins? Regardless I think wendover should do a full video on that
The Seattle bins too like the Pacific Northwest does NOT mess around when it comes to the bins 😭😭
And they were on the block by the clinic right after going to goodwill. Wild lol 😂
I like how Adam's elevator pitch for what he does for a living includes "I know it's really Dumb..."
That animation of Adam in Goodwill was hilarious. I was dying when I watched it.
"What I'm doing is so stupid, I'm in a race against another team" spoken like somebody who's had to explain his job way more times than is ideal
It does feel like the flop system needs a tweak to discourage just burning challenges. Something like a time penalty or total limit for the game would make things more interesting.
ben and adam: “oh there’s a goodwill outlet let’s go to that”
me: oh honeys you are not ready for the bins
The inability to film their reaction is on par with what happened with the library in Alexandria.
yeah, when i heard they were going to the seattle goodwill outlet I laughed out loud - but seems like they managed way better than I would've!
Voula's Offshore Cafe is easily the best diner in Seattle! The owners are the sweetest family in the world and everyone who works there is amazing. I highly recommend going if you're ever in Seattle!
Well, it's got pancakes with ham and Guy Fieri's approval, so that seems right.
Definitely will look into going there if I'm ever back in Seattle.
Wow, I did not get the impression Ben and Adam enjoyed it much... 😅
@@LRM12o8 I get the impression they were hurrying so much they didn't really have the chance to actually taste the food
The interaction with the gate agent had me on the edge of my seat, what a great show
As someone who goes to the Goodwill bins quite often it is pretty hilarious that Ben & Adam went into one with no prior knowledge of how they are.
was thinking the same thing hahah
Right?? As soon as I heard "Goodwill outlet" I was like.... Oh no, they went to the bins lol 😂
I really wish they could have filmed there. That place is even wilder than their explanation.
"With all the talk of Horoscopes this week" Girl, YOU"RE the one talking about Horoscopes!
You know what - I really appreciate how they never forget that in the end this is just a game and stay very honest throughout. Adam could have easily made up a sob story for the airport worker to increase the chances of them getting on the plane. Instead he went with "I know this is stupid, but we really want this and would appreciate anything you can do." There are just some things you never should lie about and I am so happy that they never cross those boundaries. It's just more fun this way!
the moral character, and indeed courage of these guys to always say "I'm doing a silly race" by way of explanation and never making up some important but normal sounding excuse for why they are in a hurry to catch a flight is, frankly, aspirational
Ben and Adam going to a goodwill OUTLET is so chaotic
I used to be a forklift driver at a goodwill outlet a little bit south of where the boys visited here. I can absolutely confirm just how crazy it can get. The reason they line you up and count down is because if they dont, people will literally fight for the items in the bins, at times even this fails to stop the crazies though.
I remember once, somebody even brought in a torch and set fire to one of our bins. Seriously, goodwill outlets bring out the crazy in people.
this is _wild_ to me! I'm from the UK, and all our charity shops are very very small, and mainly run by volunteer retirees. like the exact opposite vibes, seemingly

I love how they have little graphics for everything. It's so well-produced
Some suggestions for future seasons: Add a clock to the map (or just to the video in general) so we can see how fast you are actually travelling, aswell as an indicator of how far like 100 miles are on the map (for people without enough geographical knowledge of the area the guys are in)

This is another reason why I don't believe they shouldn't be able to just discard a card once they are able to claim a new one. They should HAVE to have an open spot, and if they do not, they MUST use the ticket before they can get a new ticket. This way it becomes a bit more competitive. They got this ticket while Ben and Adam were in the air, and while yes, Ben and Adam did the same thing, they had a slot open to be able to, it was a calculated risk for them to go on the flight when it was available.
It also really doesn't incentive using the Train/Car tickets when they just do a challenge between flights to then pick up another flight.
