I really like the way you speak, it's fast, clear and gentle. It seems like you can hold your breath for at least a minute. I decide to watch all your videos so that my IELTS listening skill will definitely be improved
I have the 2012 Nexus 7 and just got the 2013. I found the build quality to be much improved with the 2013 model. I fell in love with this little beauty from the get go, especially with the screen, audio and overall speed. You're invited to our wedding. Keep up the excellent work!
Lisa - Great work, you're by far one of the best on reviews. Thank you. I had the first version and loved it. Just picked up the new Nexus 32G at Best Buy. Saw folks walking out of Best Buy with the new Nexus as I was going in. He said better than Samsung tabs based on the last two days of sales. They didn't even have it out on display. You have to ask for it.
Really enjoy all of your coverage. This is a great video too with some amazing information in here. What I would like to ask though, is how long do you think is needed using a device before being able to publish an informed review? And how long did you use the Nexus 7 for before recording this?
I find that WiFi is improved over the original Nexus 7 and haven't had problems with the connection unless I'm 50 feet from the router on the 5GHz band (which travels less).
Depends on your eyes and prefs. I still use my Paperwhite for books because it lasts a week or more on a charge and I find that e-ink is a welcome break from staring at LCD monitors all day long.
I was trying to make a shorter video since some folks don't like 25 minute long reviews. Honestly, web browsing is the same as it ever was with Chrome- fast and fluid and it can play HTML5 video.
Mine just came in the mail yesterday. Absolutely fantastic. I know it's not a fair comparison, but it is a stunning difference coming from my 1st gen iPad. I don't think it's gonna leave the house until my DODOcase comes in, though.
Great review. Strangely enough, It's the only review so far ive seen of the Nexus 7 that demonstrates the sound. That's weird because I think that the stereo speakers are a major selling point of this tablet. All other reviewers seem to be focused on the display and speed.
I have a Nexus 7 2012 (:P) and what really makes me want to upgrade is the wireless charging. I plug in my tablet every night and listen to music as I sleep and let it charge as I sleep. 98% of the abuse my microUSB port takes is purely from charging. And although it has not began to malfunction yet I am positive it will sooner than later. Thank you so much for the review, as always you are very helpful.

The Kindle Fire HD 8.9 has louder and fuller audio (that tablet has some of the best audio I've heard on a tablet). With the Fire HD 7", they're on par for volume but the Kindle has a wee bit better bass.
As an owner of the previous and current Nexus 7, I have to say this new one is quite an amazing device in general. Its thin, light, and actually feels really solid in the hand.. if I try to twist it or push in the back, it doesnt give in at all. The screen is one of the best displays out there, and blows away anything in the $200 range by miles and miles. Its also really fast, much smoother than my Nexus 10, everything is as smooth as an iPad but much faster.
Great review, as always :) I got the previous Nexus 7 (got Android 4.3 now as well on that one) and will probably get this new one a bit later (maybe towards the end of the year).
If an app or game makes use of Open GL 3.0, then any OS 4.3 device with a graphics chip (that's all Android devices made in the past 2+ years) will benefit.
Just picked one up last night the 32gb version and its a beast love it glad I waited so far no major issues with it I went in to this purchase knowing all the issues with it, but I still believe its the best tablet around.
I love when a company like Apple says something can't be done. Like putting a "retina" display on an iPad-mini. It opens the door for other companies to find a way to do it and give something amazing to consumers. The Nexus 7 has an amazing screen and an amazing price point. I'm definitely picking this up for school (especially thanks to Google Textbooks coming out!).
This was probably already brought IP in other comments, but I'm too lazy to look; the lag with the older Nexus was due to system clutter. The new 4.3 comes with Trim that cleans it up and gets rid of useless pathways and other data left behind, so the device runs faster. Apparently, people are having good luck with it. Good review, by the way!
Thank you. Really great review. The Nexus 7 II really looks like a great device. Even though I have an iPad, i might get a Nexus 7 II just to see what android is like.
Mine is still alive and going strong, use it everyday. I have a chromecast and cast mobdro to my tv. This device was made tonka tough. It will be a sad day when I do finally put it down.
I got one and its fantastic. One of the best things about it is the screen which is incredible in my opinion. This is my first nexus device and i have to admit that stock Android is pretty good.
Lisa, just so you know, the new Nexus 7 actually uses a Krait 300 CPU, so it's actually like an under clocked version of the Snapdragon 600 processor like in the HTC One, but for some reason Qualcomm decided to call it the S4 Pro. I got this information from Anandtech on their review of the new Nexus 7.
Hi Lisa A lot of people recommend the use of the Nexus 7 for use with drones because of its bright screen. Some people have experienced notable lag between the drones camera and what you see on screen. I bought a 32gb 2013 model and the screen is brilliant, even in bright sunlight however there is some quite noticeable lag now and then. Are you aware of anything that can be done to speed the tablet up or can you recommend any current tablets with as bright a screen?
Great review, purchased over the weekend, fantastic device. My wife's mini iPad has a new running mate. I prefer this over wife's tablet, very responsive, fast, nice traveling companion -- recommended.
At 12:41 I moved back 2 feet on my couch when you hit that other car...the game feels so real. I haven't played a video game in 16 years. The last time I played a game was using the demo versions that came out in a CD with PC Magazines. I feel old. Growing up sucks.
Even though its listed as an S4 pro, its actually an under clocked Snapdragon S600 that you fond in the HTC One and Galaxy, from what ive read the reason they class it as an S4 pro is basically just clockspeed, anything under 1.7ghz will be classed as an S4 Pro. This really is a great tablet, and the screen is superb, at this price it makes this tablet a no brainer to go out and buy
Hi Lisa! I love your reviews! You seem to be one of a few real professionals on RUclips, so thank you for your time! I have a small request. Could you please check if it has the magnet sensor like the previous model? I would like to build a "smart case" for it. You can check by placing a small magnet over the screen. The tablet should go to sleep while you are holding the magnet over it. When you remove the magnet, it should wake up. Also does it vibrate? Thank you very much!
Why am I not subscribed to your channel? I can't think of a reason because when I look for reviews on things I'm interested in I usually watch yours first lol
Very Good as usual,#1 fan...I'm late to the game,I left my 1 Gen on the train,I ordered the 2nd Gen 32gb 4G. I was waiting on the 3rd gen, but its too big to hold,or manuver on a crawded train.Hope I enjoy it as much as you seem too have.
Hello, do you know if the 2nd generation Nexus 10 will be available soon? I really want this tablet but would prefer a 10 inch. I don't want to buy it if a NEW Nexus 10 will come shortly. I really love your reviews. You're so descriptive, and describe everything in detail and you are NOT biased. Thank you very much MobileTechReview.
absolutely love how granular your reviews are!

Great review, thanks for taking the time to record and upload this for us! :)
Still the best 7" screen even in 2021. Still running two of these at home, though for Harmony Hub control, Roon remote, etc.
that's pretty cool
I honestly love the longer reviews that you do, because your more detailed than others.
So it's a mixed bag with some.
Thanks
Lisa's videos are by far the best. Personally i love the in depth ones that are longer. Please keep doing them.
Thanks Lisa for the great review. I can always count on you for an in-depth product review.
I like it how you do your reviews with a full heart, and so detailed. It solves every query a human can think of.
I really like the way you speak, it's fast, clear and gentle. It seems like you can hold your breath for at least a minute. I decide to watch all your videos so that my IELTS listening skill will definitely be improved
Jeez Lisa. You offer the best reviews...anywhere! I keep coming back for everything I an thinking of buying. Thanks!
I have the 2012 Nexus 7 and just got the 2013. I found the build quality to be much improved with the 2013 model. I fell in love with this little beauty from the get go, especially with the screen, audio and overall speed. You're invited to our wedding. Keep up the excellent work!
Five stars for the professional quality of this presentation.. Such a relief when someone actually knows their job..
Came to you straight away for the review. Wasn't disappointed, great video.
GPS worked fine in our tests. Have to pre-load maps with the WiFi version or use it with a mobile hotspot get get maps on the go.
Lisa - Great work, you're by far one of the best on reviews. Thank you.

Yes, Android devices automatically check for updates and let you know when one is available for installation.
You are my favorite reviewer. You focus on what the heck you are doin' and your comments are apropos and helpful.
I was trying to make a shorter video since some folks don't like 25 minute long reviews. Honestly, web browsing is the same as it ever was with Chrome- fast and fluid and it can play HTML5 video.
The SlimPort supports adapters for HDMI and VGA. The hard part is finding those adapters since the tech is so new.
Nice review. First one to go in depth about things that matter. Got a nice general overview of the tablet
Mine just came in the mail yesterday. Absolutely fantastic. I know it's not a fair comparison, but it is a stunning difference coming from my 1st gen iPad. I don't think it's gonna leave the house until my DODOcase comes in, though.

Yes we reviewed the Galaxy S4 Active. We have a video review on our channel and a written review on MobileTechReview.
Haven't tried Flash Player yet, but I'll include that test for our written review coming out later this week.
I plan on picking this up before the end of the month. Thanks for the review!
Lisa, great review. Ordered one from newegg with a free set of headphones w/ inline microphone. Can't wait to get it!
Always love your reviews Lisa, always very in depth and informative. Thanks, Paul.

Yay I was hoping you would review the new Nexus 7!
Picked mine up on 7/26 and like it much better than my 1st gen Nexus 7. Good review, thanks!
Fantastic review. The best one I've seen for the Nexus 7. Thanks!
Very good detailed overview of the 2013 Nexus 7, thanks Lisa!
LOVE THIS TABLET! Perfect size. Using it as my textbook this quarter.

i got one a couple weeks ago. i didn't realize how awesome it was until i saw this review.
No it doesn't have MHL, it uses something called a SlimPort for display out via micro USB and that requires a different adapter from MHL.
Great review, as always :) I got the previous Nexus 7 (got Android 4.3 now as well on that one) and will probably get this new one a bit later (maybe towards the end of the year).
Love your reviews Lisa.Keep up the good work!
Thank you for this very informative review. This may have just sealed the deal for a Nexus 7 purchase...
As usual, a deep in review, thanks Lisa.
Excellent review,i bought a 16gig tablet and so far is an excellent tablet, fast, sharp and good quality sound, better than an i pad mini.....
watch a few of yours videos before from youtube recommendation, finally dicide to subscribed. keep up the good work.
lovely looking new entrant for 2013. Might have to get one for when out and about. Thanks Lisa great review and nice driving, lol
Lisa, this was an excellent review. You have convinced me!
Lisa...the best and most trusted reviewer of technology, in my opinion. Love it. Thanks.
I just bought one today and this nexus is the best overall tablet i invested in so far.
So many things are above iPad mini here. I am glad I bough this. I am hoping to make this my device for he next 3 to 4 years

Good point. I bought the 32 gig for $270. I am very happy with it. I read a lot of books & magazines. It is so perfect for reading books.
oh my at last an in-depth review.
as always, a wonderful review. thank you lisa
I ordered one of these yesterday. I've never owned a tablet before. I better not be disappoint.
Great one! I am very excited to pick mine up in the next few days!!

Awesome review as usual Lisa!

I'll be getting mines this coming week.

Thank you. Really great review. The Nexus 7 II really looks like a great device. Even though I have an iPad, i might get a Nexus 7 II just to see what android is like.
Loved the review! I will be getting one of these soon.

Thanks for the review. I got this for my GF instead of the iPad Mini, for her birthday on the 1st of Nov. I believe I made the right choice. :)

Best review so far, complete and just the facts. Have you done Chromecast?
Hi Lisa
A lot of people recommend the use of the Nexus 7 for use with drones because of its bright screen. Some people have experienced notable lag between the drones camera and what you see on screen.

Great & informative review....I will be getting the 32GB version as soon as its available...
Precise and to the point. Thank you.
Got one this christmas :) I'm watching this video on it right now
The addition of a MicroSD slot would have been FABULOUS. Hopefully, Google will wise up and add one to the next Nexus 10!
I want to get one.... pretty sure this is going to be my next tablet.
I liked this video before I watched it! Love MobileTechReview :)
Very good review Lisa, I really enjoyed all the fantastic info tha you gave us.
Fantastic review Lisa
Lisa you cure my depression with these videos.

I don't watch any other review apart from yours Lisa you're doing an exceptional job. Haters go eat the dust.
Excellent review! I gotta say, ASUS and Google did a terrific job with this tablet, especially for its price!
Why am I not subscribed to your channel? I can't think of a reason because when I look for reviews on things I'm interested in I usually watch yours first lol
Awesome device. At $229 you can't really go wrong with this. I can only hope it doesn't drastically slow down over time like the original Nexus 7 did.
Awesome review Lisa! I hope to get one of these tablets soon. Just a question, what do you believe is the next 7" or 8", closest to the new Nexus 7?
Lisa I go to your youtube channel 1st, if I have any Mobile tech questions, your awesome.
keep up the great work
Love it. Couldn't have been happier to trade in my iPad for it. Writing this comment from my new Nexus 7 :-)

I am really confused as to why the black letter box at 9:19 show up brighter then the file you are playing. Why would that be?
