i chose the 2012 nexus 7 16GB as my first tablet, it was only £119 new from carphone warehouse what a bargain!! the new nexus 7 is great,i tried it in a shop but like they said the screen is so bright, and coudnt really warrant the extra price for that extra bright screen and a rear camera i wont use,why pay more for ipads?? well done google and asus
These videos can sometimes be factually hit or miss but I really appreciate how in-depth they are in a sea of youtube videos seeking to be first rather than extensive.
I honestly think that the Nexus 7 (2013) is underhyped. We all remember last year when the first Nexus 7 came out, it was an okay tablet at best and became very popular based on it's price alone. One thing that astonished me this year was the improvements, virtually every tech spec that could have been improved on from 2012 to 2013 model, was. And not only did they make it better, they gave it specs that warrant it costing between $50-100 more than what it retails for. This tablet is an absolute steal and a beast of a little device. 2013 tablet of the year in my eyes.
#Nexus #7 #from #Google 7-Inch is amazing. It's discounted in 7 days of Black Friday on amzn.to/1v8UU2e. Visit to get it with the best price. Quick.........................
Now that's what I call a solid review. I'm not left with any questions about it. I'm liking it but already having a Nexus 7 it's not a must upgrade for me right now but there's definitely a 32gb version in my future.
I really happened to like this review, there isn't a whole lot of in depth reviews like this only benchmark tests and minor things. But if I can say one thing there was a slight inaccuracy with the data, the new Nexus 7 is indeed faster than the HTC One, I've seen about 9 benchmark videos on it (I've looked a lot into buying this, and I've noticed that the new Nexus performs slightly faster than the One. But either way great review guys c:
Nice video guys, like the format where you both are asking questions and discussing different topics. With the growing screen sizes of mobiles like the Note 2, Note 3 what would make one go for a 7 inch tablet, what would be the advantages of having the Nexus 7 in addition to the Note 2. Let me know your views on the same. My primary use is gonna be calendering, email, browsing, youtubing, movies, music.
I found this tablet and surprisingly, it's pretty fast with the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmellow. The speakers crackle at >50% volume, but that seems to be the norm with the Nexus 7 line. Works fine for my needs. I do prefer my iPad Mini 2 64GB though.
Hey guys, I've got a Nook SimpleTouch (e-ink) that I do all my reading on and I do read quite a bit. Lord willing I'm getting this Nexus 7 for Christmas, and I've never had a tablet before. What's the reading experience like? I've seen reading mode on some tablets, does this have it? I'm hoping it has a good reading experience so I can just carry around the Nexus and not both devices. Thanks!
IMHO i think this tablet will open new doors to app developers. Its so handy portable and the uses on this model (2013) due to its size, weight, and power are limitless.
Hey guys, I really like the reviews. I think they're a lot more grounded and kind of this-is-what-it's-like-living-with-it, and that separates them from other, more technical oriented reviews. But could you still maybe put the full specs and initial impression of the reviewed tech (whatever it might be) straight to the "about" box so you could quickly glance at them and get an initial feel of the device right away?
Got mine at Best Buy for $199, it came with a $25 Google Play store giftcard, and a $15 Best Buy gift card. So basically $159. That is an INCREDIBLE value.
I'm not sure you understand what I meant. All you have to do is drag down from the top and hit the rotation locked button. Soooo no need to have to set up your device in any special way. Just one drag and one button press could avoid all the sillyness.
I agree the sony Tablet Z is a not well known tablet but it is a stupendous device for mobile connectivity. It just works and a better yet, with Nova launcher it is amazing
I think you need to consider what you want to use it for. If you want a tablet for traveling, just some reading or to watch movies. Make sure you know what you want to use it for. For that reason there is no 'better' tablet, just depends on the usage you want out of it.
good point but how cna they sell it for that price? well it's pretty simple, the production costs aren't high at all, if I remember right the iPhone production was around 120$ each, so yeah most goes into branding etc.
It's sort-of the same device, it's the older version so you'll have lower specs and less features but for general tasks like reading pdf's you won't really notice.
Android gives you more choices and more customization options the iOS. The Nexus 7 is the best rated 7 inch tablet. It's high resolution screen makes it a great eReader. Retina is just Apple's fancy name for high resolution
As an Htc One user myself, why should I get the Nexus 7? Is the bigger screen worth it? Is there anything else that would make it worth it? I do want one but am just trying to justify why I should buy it. :) Any answer from anyone with experience would be appreciated!
Speaking of high resolutions. Are there any software based solutions for using lower resolutions on high res monitors without the blurry resizing? For example, If I wanna output 640x480 to my 1280x1024 monitor, is there a way to have it "point" or "nearest neighbor" scaled to the monitor so it uses 2x2 pixels instead of using linear or another kind of scaling that makes the image "smooth"? My AMD card can do scaling, but doesn't seem options for Scaling Method.
I think for reading comics it'll be a lot better at 7" with that resolution and that applies to any kind of magazine style thing. Video is nicer to watch at the larger size don't you think? and having two, when ones battery is out, you've got a whole nother device to play with! Also think of all the stuff you can say, I don't need this on the phone now, I can put it on the tablet, let it take up space there and vice versa so more fast local storage to play with.
i said, "16:10 is different to 16:9, much nicer" which do you think 'much nicer' refered to? *16:10* its a more pleasant aspect ratio, and yes i prefer 1200 vs 1080 lines.
i found the screen got dim enough for me. i took it outside at night on a dark night and i didnt feel like it was overly bright but i guess it depends on the person :-p.
can someone answer my question please :D do i need to put a screen protector on this although it already has gorilla glass? and how much resolution will be lost if I put a screen shield? THANKS!
It's thinner, smaller, weighs a LOT less, is a lot faster (the s4 pro is just like an underclocked Snapdragon 600), I/O speed is dramatically better, screen is absolutely gorgeous, 2Gigs of ram helps out a bit too. QI support is nice, 5 GHz Wi-Fi support,The old N7 got a nice boost off of 4.3 with TRIM support (I bought one just before I got my new one).
I'm sure he knows that but it's one thing to set a tablet up in the privacy of your own home and another while being recorded making a show trying to narrate and explain everything about it.
In fairness iOS doesn't have true multitasking, that's why it has better standby. I'd rather have the way Android handles notifications and apps, though. You can use Greenify to improve standby dramatically on Android however.
Just...not a significant enough upgrade for me to justify the cost. >.> - Is what I would be saying if my 2012 Nexus 7 weren't currently going through the RMA process, due to straight up death.
Thank you Will for continuing to fight the good fight about screen dimming!
Watching this on my Nexus 7!
Im waiting for mine! :/ xd
iTankWIN me too! cant wait!

Love my nexus 7,great video guys
Love the in-depth breakdown, got myself one of these-waiting on it!
Can't wait to use it
Best review I've seen in a while, subbed :)

Awesome thanks for the link
I think Norm would be really good at doing infomercials. Not an insult. He's comfortable and informative on camera.
was fun to listen, good work guys

The processor of the new Nexus 7 is a Snapdragon S4 Pro with Krait 300 cores (like a Snapdragon 600) The old nexus 7 used Tegra 3, which was Cortex A9
did you update the old nexus 7 to 4.3 though? that made a hell of a difference for me
Which do think is better the iPad mini with retina display or the 2013 nexus 7?
In the beginning of the video, the time is 2:29, which is the same price as the nexus 7 on amazon.

LTE version is soooo awesome. I'm typing this on the LTE version.

got a review after the release date with in the last week of the nexus as i have purchased one!
There's only one with a "second" version, this one. And it's just a "Nexus 7", but review sites and shops have named it Nexus 7 FHD or 2013 mostly.
as a clock or some kind of occasional feed thing that you can glance at. Picture frame, lots of reasons depending on what apps you use.
I'm watching this on my nexus 7 (original) and I still love it.
Does the induction charger work any better than the Palm Pre's? I was certain that Palm had clearly demonstrated they weren't a good idea.
Does 2nd Nexus have video output or hdmi please ? I watch livestream video a lot and like to connect to TV for bigger screen.
I'm not sure you understand what I meant. All you have to do is drag down from the top and hit the rotation locked button. Soooo no need to have to set up your device in any special way. Just one drag and one button press could avoid all the sillyness.
All I ever hear about is the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7. When are they gonna release new ones?
All I ever hear about is 4 7 and 10. When are they gonna come out with the Nexus 11?
Controllers (for games) work much better now with 4.3. :-)
I found the WiFi antenna lacking. They really need to improve that on the next model. Glad they upgraded the speakers

Did the nexus upgrade the glass at all? My 7 has a few scratches :P
I've been using a rooted nook tablet... NOW I'M GETTING A NEXUS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
Could you guys please also write down the apps you mentioned to dim the light on android? This info was new to me and I wnt to try those apps.
good point but how cna they sell it for that price? well it's pretty simple, the production costs aren't high at all, if I remember right the iPhone production was around 120$ each, so yeah most goes into branding etc.
Waiting for my new Nexus 7 32gb to arrive. WHY AREN'T YOU WORKING FAST ENOUGH DHL?
I would love to see an "In-Depth" on the NVidia Shield.
Getting mine for Christmas but won't have rear facing camera. Still the same product just no camera, right?
It's sort-of the same device, it's the older version so you'll have lower specs and less features but for general tasks like reading pdf's you won't really notice.

Spot on review - great stuff guys! You just got a new sub!
@ 23:11 "It's a really weird dongle." pissed myself!! :D
Wait, so they're all named after the size? Then how do we know which version they are?
As an Htc One user myself, why should I get the Nexus 7? Is the bigger screen worth it? Is there anything else that would make it worth it? I do want one but am just trying to justify why I should buy it. :) Any answer from anyone with experience would be appreciated!
Thinking about buying one, where's the best deal to buy it at?
Speaking of high resolutions. Are there any software based solutions for using lower resolutions on high res monitors without the blurry resizing? great review, have me sold.
Norm is so handsome. Someone had to address the issue inevitably.
i said, "16:10 is different to 16:9, much nicer"
which do you think 'much nicer' refered to?
*16:10*
its a more pleasant aspect ratio, and yes i prefer 1200 vs 1080 lines.
GREAT. NOW I CAN'T UNSEE THIS.
Could you guys do a Xbox smart Glass review between the new Nexus 7 and the iPad mini? Thats the gaming im getting a tablet for
whats better ... Nexus 7 2013 or Nexus 10? I really like the larger screen size, more pixel . I want the best one for me though. thx
You got some good points. I suppose it may not be necessary at all but it would make some stuff more comfortable and more pleasing to do. Thanks! :)
What do you mean new ones? This is the new Nexus 7. Phone will probably follow later in the year.
Is it worth upgrading from the 2012 to 2013 model?
Nexus 7 (2013) on sale at Best Buy for $194.99. Free shipping.
so in-depth.. subscribing now!
soc used here is snapdragon 600 with higher memory bandwidth its just advertised as snapdragon s4 pro its not the same used in nexus 4
Where did you get that nexus 4 wallpaper from
Does the qi pad work if you have a case on the nexus 7 or nexus 4?
I don't know if its just my nexus 7 2, when I turn the volume max, you could hear distortion
Watching this on my nexus. Lol. :)
loving the wallpaper on the Nexus 7 "2013" does anyone have a link?
nice review..glad I will be getting this soon
i found the screen got dim enough for me. i took it outside at night on a dark night and i didnt feel like it was overly bright but i guess it depends on the person :-p.
If you look at 06:22 when he pulls down the settings menu, he's got auto rotation locked.
Watching this on my Nexus 7 now
16:10 is different to 16:9, much nicer.
New nexus 7 or galaxy note 8.0 for in class notes?
can someone answer my question please :D do i need to put a screen protector on this although it already has gorilla glass? and how much resolution will be lost if I put a screen shield? THANKS!
If you think it's slow or need a better screen then yes. Otherwise 4.3 on your old is just as fine.
What was that name of the charging stand
It's thinner, smaller, weighs a LOT less, is a lot faster (the s4 pro is just like an underclocked Snapdragon 600), I/O speed is dramatically better, screen is absolutely gorgeous, 2Gigs of ram helps out a bit too. Absolutely still love mine!!!

Where can I get that Marshmallow Man shirt?!
what clock widget is that?
should i update from my old nex 7?
The 2012 nexus 7 was lagging because of the flash memory. And can be easily fixed with an app called lagfix.
I can for the thumbnail photo , didn`t find it ! Felt Bad ...
YAY! more tested!
high priced ?
do you know what a tablet is ?
Has anyone here had one for a while and if so have you noticed any drops in performance over time
Just...not a significant enough upgrade for me to justify the cost. >.>
- Is what I would be saying if my 2012 Nexus 7 weren't currently going through the RMA process, due to straight up death.
Why would you leave your tablet on when you are no using it?
Norm is always so shiny
can we use 3g in 4g lte powered nexus7(2013) ?
I have Nexus 7 already but the home has different shapes
