For all those who did not know- you can maintain and upgrade your car by changing the time in your device. This also works for some other games that require time to load challenges and do stuff.
Unexpected downside to having a remote office: there's no way to shave if I forget to in the morning. I got used to shaving mid-day when I worked at home. ;-) ^TM
I pretty much commented the same thing before seeing your comment. The price is just a bonus for me. In fact, I ran Geek Bench 2 on the new nexus 7 and it outscored even the 4th gen iPad.
You could say it varies from tablet to tablet. I do know for a fact that the manufacturing line for the original Nexus 7 was extremely poor, I did have to get my screen repaired twice, but in terms of smooth running software and games, I've never had one issue, frame-rate drops are such a rare thing, inevitable of course, but so rare.
What would be the cons of grabbing the OLD Nexus 7 versus the new one? Would I experience lag on these games or can the old nexus 7 handle these new games? I'd only be paying $140 for a 32gb old nexus 7, I'm a student with a budget so this is very appealing to me. I appreciate any responses, thanks.
Hi the game u show is awesome but can ask u something its about what is that electric device I mean it look like xbox controller with a small screen that u were showing I never seen it before can u tell me thx
I have a nexus 7, but I'm not being close minded if you think that's the case. Inevitably, there's better out there. But what I'm saying is that with the exception of NOVA 3, absolutely everything I have done with the Nexus 7 has never suffered from frame-rate issues or drops, let alone any normal usage. Perfection, especially for the price.
Great video guys ! i wish u guys made a comparison between smartphones lineup (Galaxy S-SII-SIII-S4) or (iPhone 2G-3G-3GS-4-4S-5) to see the evolution of smartphones :D
What you're saying about optimisation for the S4 Pro is true (the fact that many games default to medium or low settings being a prime example of this) but the raw power of the chipset can almost invariable overcome the poor optimisation. As for iOS7 on the 4S, I haven't used it so I can't comment on that.
I don't know what 2012 Nexus 7 you're talking about because mine is still fast, responsive and has absolutely no battery problems, especially after this 4.3 upgrade.
The point about apps I'll sort of concede as well, but the situation is rapidly improving and using blown up phone apps on a 7" tablet isn't that bad at all. So there you have it, three comments' worth of why I'd choose the Nexus 7 over the iPad mini (and that's discounting the major factor: price). Just because you CAN buy something doesn't mean you should. Mini rant over I guess.
Impressive. Exactly, even if you don't think about the price the N7 is possibly the best tablet you can buy right now (from a subjective point of view) and objectively undeniably the best value for money. The iPad Mini could well be great but it's unlikely to beat the 2013 N7.
For iOS, we can do that too but we have to be jailbroken. But what I mean is if they make an offical controller, devs will start making their games work with them. Even though you can do it now with sixaxispairtool, its still not official and devs dont make their games for it.
Need for Speed Most wanted looked & played amazingly on my 2013 Nexus 7! Unfortunately, because NFS isn't compatible with the new Nexus 7 yet, it eventually glitch my OS and I had to clear my Data to recover. Needless to say, I can't wait for NFS to be compatible with the new Nexus 7!
I am new to tablets and Android. Why are some games compatible with the new Nexus 7 and some are not and only work on the old Nexus 7? I understand that the chip set in the 2nd gen are different to previous gen but, how come some are compatible then and some are not? Surely all would be incompatible or all compatible unless they are re-released. Anyone know? I'm gonna buy one of these soon.
For example, why do I have to go to the general device settings if I want to change the settings for the email app? I could not find a way to log out of my dad's email on his iPad without exiting the app. For me personally, that's incredibly stupid. I also hate the way iOS looks (
I have played super smash bros and Pokemon Stadium 2. Seems to work fine. There are some visual glitches but I think that just because of the ROMs and not the device.
@ thefreshcat - you should really save and just purchase the newer 7 if you can; if not, its not a bad option at all. Its upgradable to 4.3, so you'll get the much needed TRIM command which shores up the performance issues people had after seven/eight months. But try to get the 2013.
I wish I have the new Nexus 7 :( I pre-ordered the original Nexus 7. First, it's 8GB so it's not enough storage. Second, it is getting sluggish. Third, it came defective. Three times, after returning it and getting it exchanged. The left side of the screen is lifted slightly, making a adhesive squish noise when pressed on. Nice video by the way :D
Well that's very odd since many of my friends got original N7s and now they lag loads. I'm not saying the original N7 was bad (far from it for the price) but the Tegra 3 most certainly was. They can't even play 2D games such as Super Hexagon without frame drops. While using the dock, my friend's tablet stutters on the homescreen and has to re-render the launcher every time you press the home button. I personally think that's not even remotely close to perfection.
Why on earth would anyone do that? The iPad Mini is likely to be under-specced as well as certain to be hugely over-priced (and probably no Retina display according to rumours). The next gen iPad is again going to cost well over twice what the 2013 N7 costs and is not as portable.
Great choices..these play equally well on my old n7! Except rr3 and riptide, playing with on screen touch buttons is just simply terrible..i play with a controller..and love it :)
at least its available in your country, in my country its not avalble and the 1st gen nexus 7 costs: 365.36$ for the 32gb wifi only model and 506.38$ for the 3g model.
Not bad games. Android and Apple both need to make an official Bluetooth controller. Once that happens, mobile gaming is going to become official. Then devs will start making their games controller enabled. Word is that Apple is going to release one when they release the new iPad.
You must either have a Tegra 3 powered device and be in denial or have never used a Tegra 3 device. My friend owns both a Nexus 7 and HTC One X and both constantly suffer from frame drops and lagging in normal usage, and even many basic games. The Tegra 3 is far from absolutely fine.
I feel that Apple is just pumping out the same devices again and again, with new stupid names like 'air'. The iOS is getting old too, screw the new look it's still just the same. The Nexus is just...for half the price, you can't knock it. No way. The only reason people but Apple now is because A)They were the first to do this, but the quality of their products is overcome by design. B) the logo. The only Apple device I would but is a Phone, the tablets are just the same but smaller, lighter etc.
I love android and its the only mobile os I will use atm. But, thus is what I hate about Google play. You should be able to download any game on any device even if it may not run well. I have seen apps that are " not compatible" with certain devices that run fine if they're side loaded. Some with a few minor glitches. I don't side load but know people who do because a device is not compatible. Fix this please Google.
If I were given 330 dollars and told to spend it on a tablet, I would still buy the new nexus 7 over an ipad mini. In fact, I would as so far and say if I were given 500 dollars to buy a tablet I would still go for the new nexus 7 (that is before the reboot of the nexus 10)
So, because you have the old Nexus 7 that means the new nexus 7 is not worth it to anyone? Would I upgrade if I had the old nexus 7? Probably not. But if I didn't have a tablet it is absolutely worth it.
For all those who did not know- you can maintain and upgrade your car by changing the time in your device. This also works for some other games that require time to load challenges and do stuff.
Got my new Nexus 7 yesterday, tax free!!! So far I haven't had any issues, and I actually think the battery life is great. Thanks for the video. (:
Unexpected downside to having a remote office: there's no way to shave if I forget to in the morning. I got used to shaving mid-day when I worked at home. ;-) ^TM
I pretty much commented the same thing before seeing your comment. The price is just a bonus for me. In fact, I ran Geek Bench 2 on the new nexus 7 and it outscored even the 4th gen iPad.
Just got my nexus 7 yesterday, couldn't be happier
Got the nexus 7 Wednesday and this was exactly what I was looking for very helpful
You could say it varies from tablet to tablet. what portable console is it on the 0:16 ??
Great video taylor!
I want a nexus 7 2, but they are not released in the UK yet :(
I just got my new nexus 7 yesterday, and it's amazing!

Thanks! And patience … it'll be well worth the wait. ^TM
Great video as always, you guys should do more app vids
When will the Nexus 7 be available in the Netherlands/Europe?
Yeah Taylor the moga pro controller really improves the experience for MC4 bringing a more console quality feel to the game.
Great video guys !
i wish u guys made a comparison between smartphones lineup (Galaxy S-SII-SIII-S4) or (iPhone 2G-3G-3GS-4-4S-5) to see the evolution of smartphones :D
Does MC4 require a connection to play? Because I have a WiFi only nexus 7
Please provide play store links.
Surely, these games will be fine on last year's Nexus 7 too?
What you're saying about optimisation for the S4 Pro is true (the fact that many games default to medium or low settings being a prime example of this) but the raw power of the chipset can almost invariable overcome the poor optimisation. As for iOS7 on the 4S, I haven't used it so I can't comment on that.
zombieville usa is a good game is it on the nexus 7?
what was dat nexus case thing with the controller, looked like a souped up ds. Anything similar for nexus4?
is the walking dead in nexus 7 2013
in the play store please reply
Wait NFS most wanted wont play on the nexus 7, but will play fine on the nexus4 ?
I'm still waiting for Dead Trigger 2 to be released. That game looks like it will push mobile devices more than any other game for the platform.
I don't know what 2012 Nexus 7 you're talking about because mine is still fast, responsive and has absolutely no battery problems, especially after this 4.3 upgrade.
what was that controller+monitor system you were using??
What's the name of the hockey game in the beginning?
which one is better?galaxy s4 or nexus 5 for gaming ..
Great vid Taylor! Keep it up!
My 1st gen Nexus 7 runs all these games smoothly and works with NFS Most Wanted
It comes with some issues in my nexus 7 2013, the hud is misplaced.
may bayad po ba yung MODERN COMBAT 4 sa NEXUS 7 SECOND GEN
can you tell me where can i download that games? everytime i installed games its not available in this country
Use a vpn
Can you guys review the Sony Xperia Z Ultra when it's out?
You can play modern combat on the moga controler. I use the moga and my galaxy tab 2 7.0 for that game. Awesome with the moga.
The point about apps I'll sort of concede as well, but the situation is rapidly improving and using blown up phone apps on a 7" tablet isn't that bad at all.

@Marek Stamurs It's the Nvidia Shield

Nice video by the way :D
Modern combat 4 is 80%off in Google play store today. Just got it and other game for 0.99¢! Just in case anybody is interested!
So I assume most Tegrazone games won't work on this?
Wait can you play modern combat with ps3 remote or not?
Nice video man
What game is that at 00:20

Could you test some emulator : N64 and PSX
I wanna buy a nexus 7 only for that
Thank you :3
Might i suggest an electric shaver?
Personally I've never EVER seen a Tegra 3 device that can be described as smooth. I guess you must have gotten very lucky with the one you got
Does anyone else noticed considerable lag during Hydro Racing gameplay? It's a shame a new tablet not able to perform flawlessly on current gen games.
Wait until September and get new iPad or iPad mini if you are really into gaming.
I have a old nexus 7 and its the best tablet what I have ever seen but its a little slow. 279€.
Ever tried shadowgun deadzone?
in my country the 1st gen nexus 7 costs: 365.36$ for the 32gb wifi only model and 506.38$ for the 3g model :(
For Android, we can use Console controllers which use Bluetooth like PS3 controllers.
What game is at 00:20?
What's that hockey game?

is it normal that the tablet is getting hot when i play maybe 5 minutes?
Why is there a Swiss flag at 3:54 ? Are you Swiss? Would be awesome!
On the classic Nexus7 RetroArch runs PSX games very well. Crash Bandicoot for example is great. It should in theory be even better on the N7 2013
I actually prefer to have the type of rubbery back that the new nexus 7 has. It feels much nicer than metal.
nfs most wanted is compatible with the nexus 7 2nd gen
Perfect Review !!! Keep it up
You should do a video about google play games and its best compatible games
is it compatible yet?
I hate how some apps just don't work.... I have a few apps that I used in iOS that can't work with the new n7. But good game choices (:
Try star warfare, real racing ,or dead trigger these games are great to test ths performance of this nexus
Could u play this on a Samsung galaxy s3
why is NSFS not compatible?
Not bad games. Android and Apple both need to make an official Bluetooth controller. Once that happens, mobile gaming is going to become official. Then devs will start making their games controller enabled. Word is that Apple is going to release one when they release the new iPad.
how much does one cost
What about NOVA 3? That game is phenomenal on so many levels.
thank u for this video!
Watching this on my nexus 7 :P
Same
Same
Same
Not same :v
same
Real Racing 3 graphics quality is set to "Low" on my Nexus 7 & graphics look so bad...
What about a top 5 free games for the nexus 7 2013?
You must either have a Tegra 3 powered device and be in denial or have never used a Tegra 3 device. My friend owns both a Nexus 7 and HTC One X and both constantly suffer from frame drops and lagging in normal usage, and even many basic games. The Tegra 3 is far from absolutely fine.
Do they al use WiFi?

Card and Board games are nice too on tablets, try Magic The Gathering 2014 (it's free) and Elder Sign (~$3).
Playstore links???
If I were given 330 dollars and told to spend it on a tablet, I would still buy the new nexus 7 over an ipad mini. In fact, I would as so far and say if I were given 500 dollars to buy a tablet I would still go for the new nexus 7 (that is before the reboot of the nexus 10)
You can get need for speed most wanted on nexus 7 2013 I got it
I will install modern combat on my 'old' Nexus 7
I like the reviews of this guy.
But the video is to help people NOW. When more games are compatible it'll be easier to do the hunting on their own :)
The Tegra 3 is absolutely fine.
So, because you have the old Nexus 7 that means the new nexus 7 is not worth it to anyone? Would I upgrade if I had the old nexus 7? Probably not. But if I didn't have a tablet it is absolutely worth it.
