Theory:jasmine seems depressed, the secret medicine is actually Zoloft that she gets from that black market guy , now regaining her confidence she’s ready to battle
Qwilfish is low-key underrated. I've used it a few times on my team in Pokémon Crystal, especially since it learns sludge bomb and pin missle for coverage if necessary.
Shocked with the results. Poison water with the hidden power type gives you just enough coverage to sweep through the game. Good job qwilifish u showed off your strength!
Every time you pick up the Secret Potion I remember a time I dodged all of the trainers on the way to Cianwood City, went straight through the gym, picked up the Fly HM, and surfed back to Olivine without picking up the Secret Potion or using the Cianwood City PokeCenter 🙃
When I found a Qwilfish, it was due to one of those calls from the fisherman. I fell in love with the chubby boy and kept them on my team all the way up to the E4, since I swapped it out for Ho-oh and Lugia. Hooray for childhood!
Scott's Thoughts Qwilifish only run was the first Pokémon solo run I watched on RUclips. Aaaaaaand now I've got like, 6 different solo runners on my feed, lol!
I love watching these kinds of videos because they help me learn so much. I never considered Qwilfish anything more than a D or C tier Pokemon, but it's clearly more capable than I thought.
Deliberately sought a Qwilfish when I found out about it and grew to love it. It was my Waterfall user and it turns out that was one of its better moves. It was never a consistent member but I loved to use it because it's so underutilised.
6th for Qwilfish!? This series just keeps providing fascinating results. Maybe I should have tried getting one when I was kid, or at any stage in any game.
To be honest I didn't expect qwilfish to make such a good run! Hey squidgy, do you think you could do a run with Jolteon in a near future? I think he could be a great candidate for breaking kanga's record
Switching in Ballin real quick. If you get the reference you deserve a cookie. But anyways I love this weird spiky ball and glad to see it do well. It's always been a Mon with great positives but typically not a great chance to use them. So seeing it really use that chance here is gratifying.
I think a water mine/fish is a good idea for a design. Honestly though I think it would have made more sense for it to be water/steel rather than poison. Would have made it stand out a bit more too.
Hello Squidgy! A new subscriber here. Why dont you just use all of your rare candies on Red at first since it would save you some time? Looks like in gen 2 theyre most usefull in this one spesific battle. Is it cause you did it earlier to make pokemon more equal on solo runs or do you want to just try to finish the game with the earliest possible level? Cheers from Finland. Great content!
Welcome along, Jussi! Firstly, thank you for subscribing, and secondly, thank you for your great question! I enjoy the build-up at Red. That's why we ban the use of Rare Candies until that specific battle, and then use them in the 3-3-4 pattern. Part of what makes a Pokémon good is having the ability to beat a full team of very high-leveled Pokémon without having to be close to their level, and on the spreadsheet, we also track the finishing level and amount of resets. I also find that the Red fight can be anticlimatic if we just use all 10 Rare Candies at once - we miss out on amazing pieces of luck where we defeat Red without a single Rare Candy being used, just because that Pokémon is SO strong or lucky!
Quilfish had a surprising run, I never used it so I was 100% expecting him to be slow! Also, hope this doesn't come off as arrogant or rude cuz that's totally not my intention, but you keep saying minimalize when referring to minimize 😅
I used one in pokemon crystal and got the phone number from a fisherman after the first gym and I used slugebomb surf and icy wind and pin missile for a moveset but it kinda fell off toward the late game around the 8th gym so I started using tentacruel after that I'm a new subscriber by the way only been watching your videos for a week now
a really good time for a very understimated pokemon, i think that SB move deals more damage than super effective HP, 70x2 vs 90x1,5 => 140 vs 145, a little difference but still being more damage
Honestly, at this point, we're min-maxing a little too much - they ostensibly do the same damage and in 99% of situations, they'd get the KO in the same number of hits.
I edit out any attempts where I didn't make any significant progress in each battle, to speed up the pacing of the video, and keep only the most interesting fights in them.
Honestly, I didn't expect Quilfish to do that well.

Great video! Noctowl challenge was epic!

Really glad to see that mon did so well. ❤

Love your channel. It's always a good day when I drive to work listening to you.

My favorite part was when Squidgy said “it’s squidgin’ time” and then squidged all over them
Llkkkkkkkl😂😂
That meme was never funny.
When is that moment please

Great run as always! I forgot this pokemon existed, like i seem to with all gen 2 pokemon :D
man i didn't think id find another youtuber id liked as much ad MDB but you are amazing man :)
Well done, Qwilfish!

I’m shocked at the placement.

I'm definitely going to be having a Qwilfish on a casual team now after seeing his performance here.
I love Qwilfish, thanks for the run!
You murdered Hootys baby!! (First encounter)
I know! I wish I didn't have to!
Dont worry macargo.... Ditto will get its time to shine.... Or stumble into last place with a time of 6 hours plus
6th for Qwilfish!? This series just keeps providing fascinating results. Maybe I should have tried getting one when I was kid, or at any stage in any game.
Another spot on vid bud!
I didnt think such a uncommonly used pokemon would actually do so well! Color me impressed!
It came completely out of nowhere to get a well deserved spot in the top 10!
@@Squidgy Totally agree!
To be honest I didn't expect qwilfish to make such a good run! Hey squidgy, do you think you could do a run with Jolteon in a near future? I think he could be a great candidate for breaking kanga's record
Jolteon's gonna have a bad time - in playtesting of the Eeveelutions, it came in 4th place, only ahead of Umbreon!
@@Squidgy Was vaporeon first?
It amazes me how often I forget that qwilfish is a gen 2 pokemon
Still shocked they made Qwilfish BETTER after Hisui. ONE weakness now. And an Eviolite boost.

You Qwilled it with this one.
Never seen Hidden Power bug and Spikes be so useful. Qwilfish def underrated! ❤🎉
Furret almost out to the top 10! The skill increase is REAL! 😮🎉

The only Qwilfish I ever used was the Hisuian one because it evolved.
Did not see that coming!
Now I want a Qwilfish the thing is a beast in gen 2!
If you want a Pokemon slower than Magcargo, you just have to choose Ditto lol
And possibly also Wobbuffet
Heck I amit in my 24 years of Pokémon I haven't ever used a Qwilfish in gen 2. I'll make note of that
Qwilfish was surprisingly good! It just shows what a couple of powerful TM/HM moves can do!
That was very lucky hitting and poisoning Pidgeotto first turn despite the accuracy loss, otherwise you might've not won that battle.

Yus, the minimalize is on purpose :)
go mrs puff!!! I love quilfish :)
Qwilfish was gonna have evolution in the beta which was gonna be electric/water
That would've been a lot of fun!

I could have swore you could get one with a good rod but I'm probably wrong
If you had the phone call, you could get one with the Good Rod :)

why from 2 resets you came to 6?
