I just want to say how much I love your choice of words to include viewers as part of these runs, such as “we”, “us”, and “our”. I think my favorite is when you say “taking on our ____ gym leader together.” That is one of many unique aspects of this channel that makes it such a gem!
Inclusivity has always been very important to me. Without viewers like you, this channel wouldn't exist. I've learnt a lot about the game and picked up little pieces of advice from viewers over the last year, and we've all shaped the runs together. Although everything is framed around getting the quickest time possible for each Pokémon, the journey is what matters. When I'm editing, my focus is on trying to tell the story of each Pokémon, and to give them all the spotlight they deserve.
Alolan Vulpix/Ninetales is pretty rad, but OG Vulpix is my favorite. Also the very first Shiny I ever caught, in FireRed! Which was super cool, until it lost its shiny when moved into Gen 4. 😭 Glad you're back, man. I missed all the HM Friends! A challenge run with nothing but the HM Friends would be interesting. Just sayin'. 😁
Alolan Vulpix is my favourite so no competition there Also uploaded just in time for me to watch whilst giving platelets 👍 Hopefully you're also feeling better
Ninetails is one of my favourite Pokémon ever. Glad to see you do a run with it. I always name my Vulpix Kurama ha. Great video! Can't wait to see the Rhydon video.
I think the phone trick is fine for runs, as it's more of an exploit than let's say a glitch. It's an unintended mechanic to get a desired mechanic, so I don't see the harm in using that strat in the future. The pokedoll for red Gyarados kind of goes against the ruleset and to be fair to red Garry, he's good enough for some exp in the routeing so maybe no pokedolls. At the end of the day, it's your series, so you do what you want, as long as it's still fun! Glad you're feeling well again, don't strain yourself too much if you don't have to. They say slow and steady wins the race, so keep a good, healthy pace, Squidgy! Also I totally get the full evolution run line runs, it makes sense from a growth standpoint as well as full viability moveset wise for a lot of pokemon. Plus I think it makes it a bit more exciting in the long haul. Yes, a baby pokemon is weak, but late game it's going to be a powerhouse with a more complete moveset and I will take that trade over seeing another full evolution run just power through the early game with the same four moves at it's disposal until level 30-50 every time. And yes, I know pokemon usually turn to return/HP strats on their movesets in gen 2 but don't hate the pokemon, hate the game for that one. Ninetales did well. Interesting results with it's stats for sure, but the moveset was a bit lacking with really few options for Red. That being said, without flamethrower, this run would have suffered immensely. Keep up the good stuff, dude! Looking forward to the next one!
And we’re back! Great video pet usual Squidgy! I like both Vulpix but the Alolan Ninetales has a great design to me and i especially like the shadow version of it on Pokémon Go
12:27 In the case of Vulpix, the only reason you wouldn't evolve it after learning Flamethrower is if you wanted Fire Spin sooner. You're not losing any moves after that so there was nothing of value lost in your choice.
I think you should use the PokeDoll on the Red Gyarados because then you can say a silly line about placating a rampaging monster with a cute little plushie, turns out, he just needed love.
Always happy to see a Squidgy run. I'd say not to use the doll for Garyjust since all the other pokemon thus far didn't know that was an option. The phone trick might as well be a feature and shows some measure of your knowledge and skill knowing when to evolve and without it time may come to rng hoping for the call. Something about the "illegal" Dragonites and even the Rockslide from Aerodactyl.. I've always put it down to we're playing as a 10 year old, we're a new to training pokemon. Maybe others with more experience are able to better train their pokemon, causing them to evolve earlier by comparison them a newbie would be able to manage, and maybe too through their experience as trainers and their dedication they're able to teach moves some guy just can't show our pokemon because they're more complicated than just learning to spit fire better or teaching them to cool down their water gun to a freezing temp for an icy beam. Anyways that's my thoughts on that . Great run Squidgy! I was very impressed by my favorite fox. Cheers to your health and the future of your channel. Take care of yourself dude!
I must say I am going fond of the term friends to describe the hm users. And a person favorite from gen 1. May you continue to have fun runs like this one.
Alolan Vulpix and NInetales are some of my favorite pokemon easily top 10. (after several dragon types). Alolan Sandshrew and sandslash got a huge glow up too.
The phone trick is fine. They made evolution stones weirdly difficult to get in Johto. Especially considering that there's already an incentive to not use them early due to most of the eligible pokemon not learning moves after they evolve.
I'm about to start playing gen 2. I usually like to play the version I played as a kid. I had silver. But this vid showcased why it might now be a good idea. In silver you can't get fire leaf and water stones till after the elite 4. In crystal u can actually get them with phonecalls with specific trainers. Decision decisions
@@Squidgy it definitely sounds like it. As a kid I didn't like crystal because you couldn't get mareep He was one of my favorites to have on your team in silver. But in a solid run thats irrelevant.
@@Squidgy Really well, thank you mate. I got an extension for another year, so that's another year as HEO away from the threat of WCing. If this cost of living debacle dies down, I'll be a HM friend by Christmas! 😅 You deserve the recompense for all the relaxation your videos give me.
Funny thing is when i played pokemon silver as a kid i did think you had to type name of rival from fight with him. So i actually did enter questionmarks xD
How did this happen? How did a game in which you fight an evil group of gangsters while exploring all sorts of other (good or neutral) people turn into a game in which the gangsters are just victims of a former ally and everyone is slowly turning into his collaborators? Gamefreak gave you Team Rocket and you prefer the conspiracy theory centered around Lance... Ah and the reason why Lance is bad is because he says he is a dragon trainer but trains actual dragons instead of dragon types. Edit: I prefer using Vulpix but Alolan Vulpix looks cuter.
I love it so much, but it's better in Gen 3 and above because it lerns so much awesome moves. In shiny it's so beautiful, I even love the alola version 🥰🖤
Not gonna happen, mate. The most accurate time for each run is the time that gets posted, as that's the time I took to finish the game with the Challenge Pokémon. I spent a very long time considering which strategies should be allowed and which ones should be banned. Return is a high-power move that's available to every Pokémon who can learn TMs, so it's a consistently good move. Hidden Power provides the opportunity for a base 70 Power coverage move for a lot of Pokémon who would otherwise be lacking in their offensive capabilities. The reason evasion increasing moves such as Double Team via TM are banned is because they are solely-RNG dependent, and it's all about the luck of the draw. However, if that's part of a Pokémon's gimmick via level-up, then it's a perfectly valid strategy. I ban Rest/Sleep Talk as a combination, too, as that gives any Pokémon the chance to have multiple health bars, which defeats the purpose of building a more defensive Pokémon. As long as they can survive a couple of hits, you can get your health back and gamble on the Sleeping strats. In all seriousness, though, I'd love to see some of the Pokémon be run without Return and Hidden Power to see the difference, and if you fancy doing them, I'll be more than supportive. :)
Base Ninetales is kind of disappointing statwise, I love its design but that special attack is just very lackluster, even in an in-game team. Still I prefer regular Ninetales' design over the Alolan version, Alolan Ninetales looks alright but I just like the pretty yellow color of regular Ninetales better. But the Alolan version has far better stats and typing.
I just wish you would of mentioned, that you deleted SchoolBoy Alan's phone number behind his back, like the Arcanine Video... The comment in the Arcanine Video was one of the funniest Squidgy lines of all time! lol

I'd say you have to fight the red Gary because it technically is an item to use. Besides its decent experience gains all things considered.
You be spittin Videos! Thanks so much for the great Entertainment!
Kanto ninetales for me over also on ninetales. In the Chat type Alolan or Kanto for your favorite ninetales form
I can't pick between Alolan and Kantonian Vulpix - they're both perfect
I liked Regular Vulpix more, but I liked did like Alolan Vulpix.

Im glad to have you back making videos!
Hope it performs well! Ninetails was always one of my favorites.
I always love how graceful Ninetails looks. And smug as well. It knows it's better than you.
I like Ninetales, but there were way too many updates for me, so I switched browsers to Steelix.
👏
Fantastic run as usual!
Safe Guard is actually good it prevents being Paralysed,Burned,Poisoned,Sleep and Freeze for 5 turns and it protects the whole team.
Fight it unless you cant tben pokedoll away
Good to see you back, hope you're doing well

Alolan Vulpix because ICE TYPES 4EVER!
Raichu starting with Pikachu, because Pichu shouldn't exist? 😂
As a super smash fan, this makes me doubly mad 😂 this could've had Marill
Falkners game a.i. priorities damage over status inflictions. Simply put it saw it (through damage rounding could knock you out and so went for it)
No Pokedoll. Fight the Gyarados!
I wasn’t a fan of most of the alolan forms but I absolutely adore the alolan vulpix and ninetails.
The phone trick is fine. They made evolution stones weirdly difficult to get in Johto. Especially considering that there's already an incentive to not use them early due to most of the eligible pokemon not learning moves after they evolve.

Crystal is a lot friendlier to challenge runs compared to the base games.
The little quality of life additions make the runs a lot easier.

It's because the entrance is blocked the first time you visit!
Whirlpool purchased from Wish! 😂

i'd say battle the red gyarados. it reflects how well you can manage a mandatory encounter.
Keep up the content as much as you can my man ❤
It's like me and Alolan Grimer, more often the variants are just better.
I really like alolan vulpix 🎉 another great video as always!
No items in battle Squidgy. No PokeDoll trick for you
The Beautiful South reference 🤌

Let's go Ninetails, let's go!
Alolan Vulpix and Ninetales might be the best regional forms ever created.
If Alolan Rattata and Alolan Sandshrew didn't exist, Alolan Vulpix would be my number one!
First thing I love both versions of Vulpix two I would have put Dig on it before Morty.
I really wish that both OG and Alolan-Ninetales got a stat buff - like it feels as if it's Special Attack/Defense/Speed SHOULD be higher. ;-;
Happy Canada Day, Scott 🍁❤
Hey squidgy keep up the good work and take the time you need when the Health is being a bother we will be right here waiting for you to get better 😊
9 tales 9 story's the nine tailfoxs.
Irony, the a fire type vulpix gets hidden power ice based on Alolan vulpix
Surprised to see you using Hidden Power Ice against the Alakazam. Return probably would have been a one shot, as Alakazam has shit for HP and Defense.

Whoo! Rhydon run!
I like both forms of vulpix, though I prefer the Alolan form just a little bit more.
Maybe headbutt would've been better than tail whip
Your crit luck is almost hax/cheating tier this run 😂
Would like to start the challenge with ninetails
I wonder how this run would have gone if they had abilities in gen 2 with nine tails having the ability sunny day?
Liking your content!
I vote keep fighting red gyarados. It would be inconsistent to switch it up now
Ninetales should have been Fire/Psy from Start on.
I love it so much, but it's better in Gen 3 and above because it lerns so much awesome moves. In shiny it's so beautiful, I even love the alola version 🥰🖤

We absolutely do, and it is on the list of things to do this summer!
