    • @jhtoxic7870
      @jhtoxic7870 3 года назад +1

Well according to the comics after Michael was burned he disappeared went back to the hardware store got more masks and then afterwords during Laurie’s high school graduation he tried he tried to attack her again and then he disappeared and went on a killing spree across Illinois for like the next 19 years or so. Also Judith wasn’t 17 at the time of her death that is a misconception Judith was born in 1947 and died in 1963 she would’ve been 15 about to turn 16.

Theres more retcons in the Halloween franchise than Terminator... Halloween 2 retconned 1(that theyre bro and sis)... 4 retconned 2(Loomis and Michael dying)... 5 retconned 4(that Jamie was the new killer, had a psychic link w her Uncle and Michael dying again) 6 retconned 5(that Michael was connected to druids) H20 retconned everything other than the first 2(its not merely that she faked her death, cuz this would mean she not only left her orphaned child in Jamie to fend for herself, but that she and the world were ignorant to all his appearances in 4, 5 and 6), then Resurrection retconned that Michael died again... and oddly enough its the most believable one. 4 retconned that he and Loomis blew up, burned to death and had his eyeballs shot out... 5 showed an entire recap of 4 up until the dynamite portion of it and then magically that just didnt happen, 6 he is injected w corrosive liquid and seemingly beaten to death... poof hes seemingly fine in H20. But lets not forget that Halloween 2018 retconned everything other than Halloween 1978 lol Anyone keeping count? Lol

While H20 isn't perfect, it gets a lot right imo. I'm typing this BEFORE seeing Halloween Kills, and right now (Halloween, Halloween 2, and H20) are the definitive timeline imo.
I'd LOVE for these new movies to top H20 (and you could make a case for 2018). But Halloween 2 is STILL the 2nd best Halloween film imo. 2018 isn't better than 2. Until the top 2, THIS is the definitive timeline (Halloween, Halloween 2, H20). Of course you just ignore Ressurection though. Laurie chops his head off, the end.

Fun Fact, a scene that got cut from the movie script of H20 actually linked Halloween 6 & H20, the scene was Laurie finding out that her daughter (Jamie) got Killed By Michael Meyers and when Michael comes to kill her and her son (John) Laurie fights back and that’s why the original working title was ‘Halloween 7: The Revenge of Laurie Strode’ but alas they cut it from the script and never filmed the linking scene and changed it to a direct sequel to Halloween II instead of Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Meyers. Sad panda days. 😕😕 I like to think that H20 is a direct sequel to 6 though…

Jamie Lee Curtis considers the film a thank you note to her fans. Curtis: "Without that early career, I truly don't think I would have been an actor."
Even after 20 years, Jamie Lee Curtis said that seeing Michael Myers on set still scared her.
LL Cool J had always been a fan of the Halloween movies. His mother took him to see the original when he was just nine years old.
When Jamie Lee Curtis' character says, "go down the street to the Beckers..." this was supposed to refer to the line from Halloween (1978), "go down the street to the McKenzie's house..." The name was changed to Becker, which was the last name of Drew Barrymore's character in Scream (1996).
The shortest "Halloween" movie in the series, with a run time of 86 minutes.
Michelle Williams signed on without ever having seen any of the Halloween movies.
Director Steve Miner also directed two films in another popular horror series: Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) and Friday the 13th Part III (1982).
    Body Count: 7 (two off-screen)
Jamie Lee Curtis refers to the film as "Field of Screams". "If you build it, they will come."
Josh Hartnett's first acting project and film debut.
Ronny calls Laurie "psycho" as she drives past him when she comes in through the gate. Jamie Lee Curtis' mother Janet Leigh, who appears as Norma in this film, starred in Psycho (1960).
During the scene where Norma is leaving, she stands in front of the car from Psycho (1960). The music playing in the background at this part is also from Psycho. Janet Leigh, who plays Norma, played Marion in Psycho. The license plate on the car is also the same as the second car Marion buys in Psycho, NFB 418, which are Norman Bates' initials and lastly, Norma is the first name of Norman Bates' Mother from Psycho.
Halloween: H20" is the seventh film in the series. H2O is the chemical symbol for water which has a pH balance of 7.0
Both Nancy Stephens and Joseph Gorden Levitt are dead before their names appear in the opening credits.

I think the reason most fans forgive the call backs in H20 because the first two Halloween movies count. In the Blumhouse trilogy only Halloween 1978 is acknowledged, but they want to copy all the sequels and give a background that only makes sense if all the previous sequels count in the new trilogy. Namely, the fear of Michael. Originally, H20 was supposed to be a softer reboot than what it ended up being with more newspaper references including one that talked about Jamie Lloyd being missing (possibly only erasing, but definitely keeping 4).

Awesome review man !! :-) The once called " Halloween 7: The Return of Laurie Strode" had "some" references to Jamie Lloyd in the first scripts. I wished they had kept those along the main story of H20, so Laurie both had a son and daugther in it. Still one of my favorites sequels with the 1981 and 1988 ones.

Lots of people hate on this movie but it's one of my favorite Halloween movies watching it growing up. Can't say the same for Halloween resurrection. Halloween H20 was one of the first early 2000s Michael Myers movies and I think they did a good job updating the effects and kills. Josh hartnet was an interesting character. It was cool watching how the new generation of teens react to getting attacked by Michael and killed compared to the old movies generation of teens. I watch this movie every year during October. It was when teen slasher flicks were just coming out around the same time as scream, I know what you did last summer etc

    H20's title should've been called:
Halloween 7: 20 Years Later or Halloween 7: 20th Anniversary of Michael Myers.

  • @Optimegatrongodzilla

There actually isn't anything about 'Halloween: H20: 20 Years Later' that contradicts the Thorn Trilogy. It can be assumed that Michael's body disappearing after 'Halloween 2'[1981] was simply what the general public was led to believe. Plenty of 'Halloween' fans consider the Thorn Trilogy to be canonical to 'Halloween: H20: 20 Years Later'. However, there's a set of comic book stories that count 'Halloween: H20: 20 Years Later' as canonical, while ignoring the Thorn Trilogy.
In my own personal 'Halloween' headcanon, 'Halloween'[1978], 'Halloween 2'[1981], 'Halloween 3: Season of The Witch'(in my mind, the film seen playing on TV is an in-universe based-on-a-true-story movie about what happened in Haddonfield on 10-31-1978), 'Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers', 'Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers', and 'Halloween: H20: 20 Years Later' are all canonical, there's an alternate 'Halloween 6' in which Jamie Lloyd doesn't die, and there's a story set in 2018 that would involve Laurie Strode, Jamie Lloyd, Billy Hill, John Tate, Molly Cartwell, Dr Loomis, and Daniel Challis going up against Michael('Halloween: Resurrection''s explanation of his survival would still count in this 'Halloween' canon), and bringing an end to the Cult of Thorn(which, in my mind, Conal Cochran and the people working for him were part of) and the Curse of Thorn, with Michael being freed from the Curse of Thorn and dying at the end.
If my ideas were to be used by Trancas for future 'Halloween' projects, this would allow for many projects that could take place during the gap between 'Halloween: H20: 20 Years Later' and this hypothetical story set in 2018 that would be titled 'Halloween: The End of Michael Myers', and each of these stories that fill in said gap could involve Michael going after new characters. If you want to see these ideas come to fruition, please sign this petition.

4-6 are cannon but not explicitly mentioned. The crime scene photos on Loomis wall show a bloody pair of scissors. The only Halloween films that featured scissors as a weapon were Halloween 4 ( Jamie Loyd stabs her stepmother) and Halloween 5 ( Myers kills Rachael). Also note the photo of the doctor/ cult member who's face was smashed into the iron bars in Halloween 6. Jamie Loyd was even original mentioned in a line of dialogue in the original screenplay but it was later removed to streamline the film and keep it from getting bogged down with the convoluted narrative of the sequels. H20 couldn't exist without those sequels. The entire hook of the film was that Laurie Strode faked her death but it was only revealed that she died in Halloween 4. If those films never happened they could have just picked up with her alive and never had that subplot.

Many thanks for another great video Chris! I've watched all your Halloween recaps so far. I pity you having to do the next one as resurrection is so God damn awful! Wasn't a huge fan of H20 as I remember when it came out and I just couldn't wrap my head around the silly title and kept thinking of water. I also couldn't believe how they screwed up the mask on this one but overall, it's certainly not the worst of the sequels.

Interestingly the H20 Laurie should have the mentality of the 2018 Laurie, considering the horrible Halloween night of 1978 didn't end in the Doyles house, but in the following hospital massacre and the revelation, that she is adopted and even the sister of Michael Myers. The mentality of H20 Laurie would be more accurate in the 2018 Movie, like she is of course scarred, but not completely taken over by her trauma.

H20 was an intentional nod to the original, and halloween 2018 is a parallel timeline to something that no longer exists, which is why there are so many familiar scenes in 2018 to all previous films

I just wanna point out that they had REALLY intended for this to be THE LAST Halloween movie with Michael Myers..
The closest I have to proof is the final scene in the van: when Mikey gets out of the bodybag, you can see the knife wounds on his chest and body and they are still bleeding.
How would that be a different person? Lol
Love love love your videos, Chris!! Be easy, my horror brother!

    • @Thecatdrums3

He could have just stabbed him since he also made him mute.
They filmed that ending like that and was never intended to be the end. They pumped tuns of money and had Jamie required for a sequel when she signed in for the film.
It was always that way and they only ended it like that to make sure they got a return on investment.
This is a Weinstein film after all. The scene was going to be added to the home video release or in the sequel if they made enough money for one.

I appreciate H20 and enjoy it for its nostalgia but it's not really high on the bar for me. I think they could've done a better transition maybe saying H4 - H6 was a reoccurring dream Laurie had throughout those 20 years. And dreams been obscure and not really always making sense and showing things that are not reality it would explain why she dreamt of having a daughter not a son. It could also have been some deep routed idea at some point in her life of wanting to have a daughter and being terrified of Michael finding her.
I was excited to hear of JLC's return as Laurie but seeing the movie it felt rather stale and didn't really feel much like a Halloween movie. The only exciting part where some Halloween vibes set in was when Laurie decided to stay and fight leading up to the climatic ending.
And one another thing was that Michael's appearance and presence was a big thing in the first couple of films. That with each sequel dramatically became worse with H20 being one of the worst masks accompanied with H5.
