I hope they don't do the stu storyline for scream 5 cause it's been 25 years, it be ridiculous he would have this plan set thru all that time and none of the characters not know he's still alive in jail
Love the reviews! Even as someone who loves the Scream franchise I never thought about the fact of the crime scene in her house being so accurate due to the “Director’s” first hand memory
I'm pretty sure the reason Neve was only available for 20 days wasn't because she didn't want to be type cast but more because her popularity had risen because of these films and she had a lot of commitments that clashed with Kevin Williamson's schedule so it came down to one or the other and Kevin stepped down as writer so Neve could be in the movie. Which is why Kruger came on as writer after Kevin sold them an outline for Scream 3
I know lots of people like the idea of bringing Stu back as this master manipulator behind a Scream movie, but I don’t really see it myself. It’s said that in duo killers, there’s always a leader of the pair. The other is more along for the ride. Friends who kill together, there’s always a leader, in married couples who kill, the same thing there. And with Stu and Billy, it shows Billy was really the one who lead Stu. And I always took Stu as a bit of an idiot really, someone who might have never murdered anyone if he never met Billy, who was doing what he did as ‘revenge’.
It makes sense for him to build a following of fans in prison. I mean as crazy as it sounds even the Gainesville killer (the original inspiration of Scream 1) was doing it for fame like Bundy. They need to mix it up, it is getting boring doing the cookie cutter 2 person leader & follower. Personally I would like it to be a cult like with 3+ for Scream 6 showing Stu at the end for a tease for 7.
I just wanna say you are my favorite RUclipsr and have gotten me through some tough times. I've been down lately because of school stressing me out thank you Chris.
Tbh, I do like Scream 3 a good bit eve though it's definitely at the bottom of my ranking of the franchise. I can get behind the killer reveal and his motive, the character interactions are still great, there's a pretty awesome action scene of the house exploding, and honestly, the main plot of where Sidney is now in life makes total sense. The part of the film that pisses me off the most is the paranormal stuff they do with Sidney's mom when she's in the backyard of Sidney's home. I still don't understand why they put that in the film. I'd still give this film a 4.5/10 though since there's still some fun to be had in Scream 3.
I’ve never been too critical against this film, it’s still a solid 6.5/10 for me. Although the writing is not as strong, it’s Highly entertaining and I love the intro with Cotton. I could have done without the silly house/gas explosion scene + Sid’s ghost Mom appearing but the voice change used by Ghostface was pretty neat. Great review Chris!
Regardless. Scream 3 is still a great fun to watch when you’re binging the whole series. It has its fun moments and it’s bad moments but it’s still a great laugh.
The final scene is also symbolic for the audience as it shows that despite it being the end of a trilogy, the door is being left open for further installments. I also consider Valentine (2001 starring Denise Richards) to be set in the same universe as the Scream franchise as it's a murder mystery slasher film and Denise Richards' character is called Paige Prescott and looks similar to Sidney.
The Wes craven joke was funny idc what anybody says just Chris face while sayin the joke was GOLD 😂💯 love ya channel Chris man every video u put out makes my day better even if I’m not interested in the video I really be here for Chris fr fr
I don't know how anyone can think Stu coming back would have been a good idea. IF they mentioned him surviving in Scream 2, sure. They didn't, so it would have just been a lazy way to bring back Stu when clearly he died. He was bleeding out AND had his face crushed by a 60lb TV.
The "Sarah Darling" inside joke was actually about Sara Michelle Gellar from Scream 2 and how she frequently butted heads with Wes Craven - allegedly lol and he often called her "darling"
So I was born in 1998 and my mom never allowed me to watch horror movies, it was around 2009 that I went to a garage sale and saw Scream 3 in cassette. I still had a cassette player so I begged my mom to get it for me and she did. Therefore, my introduction to the Scream franchise was this one, actually it was my first in the horror genre . And I actually liked it, loved it even. But then again I was a kid and knew very little about horror movies. This movie has a spot in my heart as now I love horror movies so very much
I actually really likes Scream 3 lol it was funny, clever, witty, scary. I loved the throwback to Woodsborough and the back story of Roman being behind it all.
The problems with Scream 3 are that it's a bad comedy instead of a horror film with comedic elements with the only serious things in it being the events of the previous 2 films having driven Sidney into hiding and the story of Maureen Prescott's rape which unfortunately is only there to justify the existence of retcon Roman and him being the killer. He takes away from Billy and Stu because instead of coming up with the plan to kill Maureen, frame Cotton and use Stu as an accomplice to pin it all on Billy apparently only did it because a stranger like Roman told him to. Some of the kills in this are uncreative just being back stabs and Tom in the exploding house was stupid. The multiple voices on the changer was dumb and the reveal of Roman wasn't effective because Sidney had never met him and was just confused rather than shocked like she was by Billy, Stu, Mickey and Mrs Loomis people she knew being killers.
Controversial opinion but I like this one more than 4 I’ve always enjoyed this one yes the characters are nowhere near the best but the opening scene and the 3rd act are incredible. I could give the film a 6.5 out of 10
The tone of Scream 3 was different because the real life Columbine massacre had taken place less than a year before the release and extreme media violence was under fire as a cause for people’s behavior. The producers had to be more mindful of what they created.
I think ghostface is luring sidney back home as we know that ghostface is always connected to sid And ghostface probably figured that when people start dying sidney will be there along with gale And so ghostface will lure her to stus house to finish sid off. And my theory is that Maybe stu is still alive
Makes no sense. That TV would've killed him, and even then, he'd at least be mentioned if he was alive all those years. And even if he was in prison, the characters would immediately think the killer is him if he was alive
@@paponmeowmeow4745 maybe, but he was supposed to be the killer in scream 3. Although he wasn't people speculate he's still alive in prison. Mathew Lilard also made cameo in scream 2 so you never know dude.
That “cult of crazy stab fans being lead by Stu” plot would have worked PERFECTLY for the new movie, and also Jack Quaid looks very similar to Mathew Lillard, they could have even made a connection there. I loved the new movie but hearing about this makes me think that not re using this scrapped plot was wasted potential, oh well, if we’re lucky they’ll probably use it for Scream 6 or 7
You must've been on drugs when u said Jack Quaid looks similar to Matthew Lilliard. They absolutely do NOT resemble eachother at all. Matthew Lilliard looks similar to Andrew McCarthy from friggin Weekend at Bernies and Pretty in Pink and Jack Quaid has a resemblance to Randy Quaid aka cousin Eddy from the vacation movies. They might be related in some way.
As a wannabe filmmaker myself I know how it feels to be told that you're script has been changed. The guy I was working with had no idea what he wanted the movie to be.
I watched the movies out of order and jumped from the original Scream to Scream 3 before seeing part 2. I honestly enjoyed part 3, though I do acknowledge the criticisms others have given. It does take an abrupt change in tone with the Scooby-Doo mysterious energy you get from the Stab characters, but I sincerely loved Parker Posie, I don't care what anyone says. I liked how Sidney's character showed up. I also appreciated the deeper dive into Maureen Prescott's backstory.
Well Chris, there was a Alternate Ending to Scream 3, and it was explain by the RUclips channel of "Beyond the Mask", that the movie, they were gonna watch was another tape by Randy, which explain about what about a happy ending, watch their video, it's explains it more in depth.
I know many hate it, but I actually love Scream 3. Part of it is that it was the one that was aired the most on TV when I was a kid in the early 2000s and I would watch it every single time.
16:39 It's dumb that Roman's basically saying he wanted to spend his life being chased by psychos either taking grudges against his mother out on him or wanting to become famous and seeing killing him as a way to do that. Sidney would rather Maureen have been alive and be a normal unknown woman than have "fame" from her ex boyfriend and his best friend killing her mother and being targeted by lunatics for the rest of her life.
He never said that. He only said that he wanted to be Maureen Prescotts child. Your forgetting that the only reason Maureen is dead is because of Roman himself. He convinced Billy to kill her with the help of an accomplice (Stu). And that’s only because Maureen shut him out and claimed Sidney as her only child. If she didn’t do that Roman would’ve never plotted on killing Maureen. So none of this would’ve actually happened had Maureen accepted Roman. Everything that happened is because of him so he’s not saying that he wanted to spend his life hunted by psychos, as they would never hunt him in the first place.
Scream 3 was the equivalent to Jurassic Park 3. It was a good movie, but the formula was so different then the first 2, audiences bashed it. I love them both though. Scream 4 was all kinds of mess!
Nah, id argue it was the worst for sure. It doesn't even try to do something new. The killer reveal is cliche and has you asking who Roman was because he was barely in the film. It feels way too rushed and tries to hard to be the ultimate Scream movie, but ends up becoming the joke of trilogy finales it was trying to make fun of
You should watch The Following. It's a show starring Kevin Bacon and written by Kevin Williamson. Kevin Williamson used the Stu storyline of the 3rd movies script to make the 1st season. It's pretty good and interesting to see how things would have felt if they didn't trash the original scream 3 script.
I still love this movie cause it’s the first one I saw as a kid and I would always rewatch the third act cause I loved it sm the party massacre, and Sidney vs Roman the best ghostface fight in the series. Plus so many good sequences like the intro, Sidney on the set of stab 3, and the death sequence of Sarah Darling. It has a lot of pros and I still Enjoy this movie I’ll never argue it’s the “worst” in the franchise but people are so dramatic when saying it’s soooo bad like no it’s not Freddy’s dead, seed of chucky, Halloween resurrection. Plus my girl is just tired of all these killers at this point and Roman is the smartest killer and strongest he did all this by himself and even wore a bullet proof vest (yes ik angelina was supposed to be a killer but never happened). I prefer what we got than having Stu come back cause I don’t like that idea he survived the dude was stabbed like crazy and then a heavy tv smashed on his head
This was an amazing cinema experience for me as a child who was still in love with Mickeys pyschotic performance AND then the mansion setting! Super perfect slasher-like ending WOW! The reveal was badass, the mini issue was the character of Roman who wasnt that much of a shock. He was in like 2 scenes or 3 but ma guy Scott ate His performance just like richie, stu and Mickey! Master monologue!
fun fact that you missed about the jay and silent bob cameo. courtney and wes craven ALSO cameo in jay and silent bob strike back. i’m pretty sure i read that it was kind of a collab thing
I always found that so funny. It's like "hey look at me, I'm super protected right now with all this technology, but I still live in the middle of nowhere 😅"
This being my entry point into the franchise makes me love it a bit more than it deserves however I do still recognize it as the worst of the franchise...I still have the most fun with this one, sumn about the line readings that just makes a lot of the lines funny as hell to me, it almost helps if you just view this one as a dark comedy
If he doesn't return as Ghostface in Scream 5 I will LITERALLY walk out of the theater. I'm kinda hoping those theories about one of the new characters being his son or nephew are true (avenge his death by going after everyone, especially the legacy characters).
"Dewey, he's got our voices" HOW??? That's something about the voice changer that makes no sense because even James and Chelsea from Dead Meat has talked about how that technology didn't exist in 2000
The backstory for sydney's mother seems similar to the part of the sons of sam documentary with the actress and the movie director that was eventually found dead in los angeles.
You’re right that Roman sounded like a child. He should’ve told Sidney that he grew up in the system going from foster home to foster home while she had her “perfect life” Incidentally in 2010 when I heard Matthew Lillard say he was originally going to be the killer in Scream 3 from prison, I had an idea that used that but also had a cult of Ghostfaces. It’s funny because just right now I’m hearing that’s what Kevin Williamson had in mind. Great minds I suppose.
I love this franchise more than most, I think Scream is perfect, but the original idea for Scream 3 makes me shriek. I'm really glad that did Not happen. Stu and Billy are some of my fave characters but they are dead; let them rest. That said, I really liked 3. I like Roman Bridger. Im happy with what we got, completely.
Anyone interested in seeing the original story for Scream 3 should watch the TV show, The Following. It was written by Kevin Williamson, based on his idea for Scream 3. It's not Ghostface and Sydney, but it's good television nonetheless.
I’m my opinion. Scream 3 it’s so underrated. Great opening. And great ending. To me the 4th didn’t make any sense to me, and would made more sense bring Stu back if anything.
Why would Stu make any sense lol? He literally isn't mentioned in sequels and if a new killer did spring, wouldn't you think he'd be the number 1 suspect if he had survived
I gotta say, scream 3 is my favorite scream. I think it does meta so good here, it’s funny and scary, and I don’t think Roman is the best character, but I love his motive so much. It’s a great twist in my eyes. And the commentary on Hollywood’s treatment of women it done so well and was ahead of it’s time in terms of commentary in horror film.
You LIKE that voice changer?? It was the most ridiculous and strange thing ever. Remember, this movie is supposed to be grounded in our world and reality where these kinds of movies and convoluted tropes are mocked, yet it became the very thing it laughed at. For me, Scream 4 is the true Scream 3. I never watch this one if I can help it. It's just so bad.
After hearing that possible script for what could have been Scream 4 with the fan club, it made me appreciate 4 more. I like 4 more then 3 honestly because it brings the story back to where it all began.
Dam the original script for the third film sounds like it would have been way better. It’s actually great it would have been a modern cult . That sounds scarier than just one ghost face

JENNIFER: Okay, I brought Halloween II, Mommie Dearest, and So, I Married an Axe Murderer.
(The group glares)
JENNIFER: What?? I met with Tony Robbins, he said puppies and irony will get me through my chaotic entry into the Millennium. Gale, get me a Fiji water for Cujo, yeah?
Scream 3 is my favorite. Literally from beginning to end.
Jesus captainthwocky!!! Why isn't there More of Us???!!!
I'm loving these scream franchise reviews by you Chris. I can't wait for scream it's in my top 3 anticipate movies of this year
One the best parts of this movie is how much it made fun of Scream 2! Jenny McCarthy character named "Sarah Darling" was based off wes on the set of Scream 2 always saying to Sarah Michelle Gellar "Sarah.... Darling" haha Wes the 🐐
I saw the same thing
i really don't understand why everybody is hating on scream 3. i love it. it's my second favorite of the franchise. i also think it's the scariest one of them because of the mystery and it's way better to have the brother as ghostface than a cousin. as mutch i love stue i'm glad he didn't come back in scream 3 (that story with the fanclub sounds a bit lame to be honest)
Love your point of view! Also I don’t hate it I have more to complain about then the other sequels but I agree it’s still enjoyable. Thanks For The Support!
@@3CFilms do you think the fan club plot was recycled for Scream 4?!
It’s a classic !
@Jeremy Horne i don’t hate on people. just said i don’t understand. that’s a little different ✌️
I hope they don't do the stu storyline for scream 5 cause it's been 25 years, it be ridiculous he would have this plan set thru all that time and none of the characters not know he's still alive in jail
Thankfully they didn't
Love the reviews! Even as someone who loves the Scream franchise I never thought about the fact of the crime scene in her house being so accurate due to the “Director’s” first hand memory
I'm pretty sure the reason Neve was only available for 20 days wasn't because she didn't want to be type cast but more because her popularity had risen because of these films and she had a lot of commitments that clashed with Kevin Williamson's schedule so it came down to one or the other and Kevin stepped down as writer so Neve could be in the movie. Which is why Kruger came on as writer after Kevin sold them an outline for Scream 3
That’s exactly what it was
I know lots of people like the idea of bringing Stu back as this master manipulator behind a Scream movie, but I don’t really see it myself.
I agree, I'm glad the Stu storyline was cut. It's incredibly contrived.
Happy I could help, thank you for watching my videos!!
Unpopular opinion...i always thought the idea of bringing back Stu was stupid. 😬
I agree, it would have been incredibly contrived to bring Stu back.
It’s a ptsd reaction that’s why they put it in
She’s secluded cause of it
And it triggers thoughts once she finds out about cotton being killed
Honestly like it better then Scream 2. It had a fun climax and wasn’t as boring.
Agreed!!
And they were both in Wild Things :P
@@stevezac_cptlpnshmnt which I have...still yet to watch. 😳
Ghostface: "Do you like scary movies?"
This movie has a spot in my heart as now I love horror movies so very much
The fact that Villans from the Spider-Man multiverse were not in this movie was a real let down
I actually really likes Scream 3 lol it was funny, clever, witty, scary. I loved the throwback to Woodsborough and the back story of Roman being behind it all.
just finished rewatching the first one and I love that film sooooooooooooo much
Scream 3 was actually the first of the screams that I saw in theaters. I thought it was ok. Can't wait for Scream to the 5th
Dude you do so many things right but your franchise recaps are top notch!
They should end the series with Douie being the one who started all this from the beginning because he could never have Sidney lol
5cream (Scream 5): It's always someone you know.
Scr3am (Scream 3): No, it's not.
Shows how forgettable whiny Roman was
😒 All OF You Pepole So Stupid, Scream 3 is Way Better, Roman was A Great Ghostface Killer.
Controversial opinion but I like this one more than 4 I’ve always enjoyed this one yes the characters are nowhere near the best but the opening scene and the 3rd act are incredible. I could give the film a 6.5 out of 10
The nostalgia hits too hard!
The tone of Scream 3 was different because the real life Columbine massacre had taken place less than a year before the release and extreme media violence was under fire as a cause for people’s behavior.
The producers had to be more mindful of what they created.
i loved scream 3 the voice changer to me was the best part ! UNIQUE
I think ghostface is luring sidney back home as we know that ghostface is always connected to sid And ghostface probably figured that when people start dying sidney will be there along with gale And so ghostface will lure her to stus house to finish sid off. And my theory is that Maybe stu is still alive
I think it'd be cool if stu was the killer in 5 cream
That NEEDS to happend!
Makes no sense. That TV would've killed him, and even then, he'd at least be mentioned if he was alive all those years. And even if he was in prison, the characters would immediately think the killer is him if he was alive
@@paponmeowmeow4745 Bruh it's possible to survive a TV falling on you, people have even survived worse both in movies and in real life.
@@wisconsinking323 Nonetheless, my other points still stand.
Appreciate you doing all these reviews/recaps!!
Always wish we got the Kevin Williams version of this film , it haunts me
I love Matthew Lillard and Scream was incredible but anything involving old killers and children of past killers is just lazy
It feels way too rushed and tries to hard to be the ultimate Scream movie, but ends up becoming the joke of trilogy finales it was trying to make fun of
That intro 😂😂😂 and love your videos
Thanks For The Support!
"source"?
@@wisconsinking323 go look it up they were gonna have 2 killers or if u want a channel go watch beyond the mask
Waiting on my Fivecream shirt to come in for Friday
This was an amazing cinema experience for me as a child who was still in love with Mickeys pyschotic performance AND then the mansion setting! Super perfect slasher-like ending WOW! The reveal was badass, the mini issue was the character of Roman who wasnt that much of a shock. He was in like 2 scenes or 3 but ma guy Scott ate His performance just like richie, stu and Mickey! Master monologue!
idk why but i just like the “hello sidney’s” intro lol
Could you also do this with the batman movies?
fun fact that you missed about the jay and silent bob cameo. courtney and wes craven ALSO cameo in jay and silent bob strike back. i’m pretty sure i read that it was kind of a collab thing
Good morning Chris!!!
Buenos días!!
I really love how much work you put into your videos just to entertain us and that is why I’m subscribed
Your humor gets me up in the morning, dude
Thank you!
@@3CFilms no no no. Thank you, Chris 💯💯 never stop what you do
They should still bring back Matthew llilard!
If he doesn't return as Ghostface in Scream 5 I will LITERALLY walk out of the theater. I'm kinda hoping those theories about one of the new characters being his son or nephew are true (avenge his death by going after everyone, especially the legacy characters).
I love the original trilogy. I really dont like 4. I've heard theres supposed to be a link between 1 and 4 in scream 2022.
I always forget who the killer is for scream 3.
I have my tickets for Thursday can't wait
11:38 I've always wondered why they've never showed a flashback of Maureen being killed at any point in the series.
"Dewey, he's got our voices"
HOW???
That's something about the voice changer that makes no sense because even James and Chelsea from Dead Meat has talked about how that technology didn't exist in 2000
It doesn't exist today
Scream 3 is my favorite of the sequels it's just perfect amount of meta jokes and comedy for me, wish it was a little bloodier thou
They killed my man cotton how dare they 😂
The backstory for sydney's mother seems similar to the part of the sons of sam documentary with the actress and the movie director that was eventually found dead in los angeles.
You’re right that Roman sounded like a child. He should’ve told Sidney that he grew up in the system going from foster home to foster home while she had her “perfect life”
Incidentally in 2010 when I heard Matthew Lillard say he was originally going to be the killer in Scream 3 from prison, I had an idea that used that but also had a cult of Ghostfaces.
So hyped for 5cream
VERY HYPED!!
Anyone interested in seeing the original story for Scream 3 should watch the TV show, The Following. It was written by Kevin Williamson, based on his idea for Scream 3. It's not Ghostface and Sydney, but it's good television nonetheless.
Tickets booked to see 5CREAM on Friday!! Cant wait
13:58 Dewey got that character plot armor, he won’t die
I always believed Roman killed cotten weary because he flashed around with Maureen
I remember how we were just hearing the character descriptions, and here we are a few days away from da 5 cream
Hilarious intro with Shaggy.
I cannot wait for 5cream.
I love how your videos makes me click like after like 3 seconds, you are da king
Not gonna lie I should have been in this movie
Me watching these reviews to prepare for 5cream instead of watching the actual movies: 👁👄👁
Love these
Thank you for watching🙏🏻🙏🏻
That sounds scarier than just one ghost face
.i was a SUPER FANNNN, i snuck into the theater just to see this when i was 11 & even with my standards back then i left feeling disappointed & empty
Oh man I’m sorry! Lol
