I get that you weren’t expecting Debbie Salt aka Billy’s mother was 2nd killer revealed but gotta admitted that she played Andy’s mom from Toy Story trilogy and it was perfect choice for that actress to play as a psycho killer.
Scream 2 had 4 major flaws...1. ms. loomis not being recognized by sid is stupid and also her motive is kinda hard to relate to cause her son is crazy not to mention its roman fault he did all this in hindsight plus we don't see randy parents or sister in the film reacting to his death despite his sister being in 3 and 5 then 2. mickey getting all this info online and chatting with his mom to plan this seems impossible back in early 1997 and his motive and court defense speech is dumb 3. there seems to be no security at this college 4. also ghostface seems to teleport to kill the black girl and I always hated that death cause it's all sid's fault and she doesn't seem to take responsibility for that one...not a fan of that stuff

Same thing with Jamie's parents. You can't ding that from Scream 2 cause they had no idea anyone from Randy's family would ever be seen in the franchise. Secondly, it does seem implausibale that could be done in 97 over the internet but it was possible, especially for tech savy people. People were all over the net back in 97. And Mickey wouldn't have had to go online for that info, the Woodsborro murders would've been huge news plastered everywhere. As for his defense, I think it makes perfect sense. So much sense in fact that people have done it in the years following the movie. The christian coalition, second amendment right groups, all of it. Plus, that was right after OJ so his whole monologue about the spectacle of the trial and its importance rang really true in 97. He even name drops OJ's lawyers that could potentially represent him lol.
The shot of Sidney at 10:05 is always a chilling and moving scene. The horror and realisation that your past is coming back to haunt you… god Neve portrays Sidney’s trauma and pain so well.
1997 was peak height for Scream and left a big impression on pop culture at the time. The teen magazines, the masks sold in shops, video stores. People whom hadn't seen the first watching it before the 2nd. Watching Party of Five. Miss those days.
Hey Chris so They actually do say the full rules for a sequel in the Scream 2 trailer. 1. Body Count is always bigger. 2. Death scenes are always a lot more elaborate (carnage Candy) 3. If you want your sequel to become a franchise….. never ever suspect that the killer is dead!
It’s a shame he doesn’t play the psychopath more often, but I would love him in Scream. Timothy Olyphant is phenomenal though, and I would honestly want both. What if they were both film nerds, and joined up with Mrs. Loomis for 3 killers?
Scream 2 is hands down my favourite of the series. The characters, the college setting, the chase scenes, the suspense, the killer reveals, the cameos, all of it is peak scream to me 🔥 Gale’s chase scene in the film school is my favourite movie moment of all time! Hoping scream 5 can top it
Yes that scene from the film school was the best scene in scream history imo, the sound proofing was 🔥. Also the car scene with ghost face pretending to be knocked out and having to slide out the window that close contact gave chills
I’m actually in complete agreement it’s more of a tie compared to original but Scream 2 is definitely the best sequel and I enjoyed it more than 1. The best part in my opinion is that score and soundtrack for the movie. It invokes so much emotion especially with the score it’s brilliant. The soundtrack is used brilliantly as well. Also the opening is done so well as far as jada’s performance she sets up so much drama and when she cries for help at the front people literally don’t know how to react and it’s just done beautifully

The script was rewritten in production because of leaks, but she was always the killer, even before they rewrote it. Also, the clues for Mrs. Loomis are definitely there. -The creepy look she gives in the background when seeing Gale for the first time. -Gale saying “I thought you looked familiar.” -Disappearing sneakily behind the van at the sorority house, then calling Sidney with “Remember me?”, indicating it was someone she knew. -The seemingly pointless Stab scene on TV, in which Billy talks about his mother abandoning him. -Mrs. Loomis getting cocky and revealing that the killer is probably from Woodsboro to the other reporters. And in another scene to Gale, saying “How do you feel knowing the killer is out there watching and waiting” (paraphrasing). -Randy getting killed in the middle of bad-mouthing Billy. -Hearing her voice under the mask when Gale hits her with the phone in the classroom. And probably more that I’m forgetting. The reveal of Mrs. Loomis is my favourite in the franchise not because it’s so random and out of nowhere, but because it’s one of the most unexpected yet completely logical reveals once you watch the movie back for clues throughout.

Scream 2 had more intense moments to me than any other, the stakes were higher and you felt it. We lost Randy and I thought Dewey was a goner. The car scene and Gayle's chase scene were very intense and so was the showdown on the theater stage. It was very theatrical. I truly enjoyed the trilogy.
As much as I love the first movie what I do personally think the 2nd one has over it is that the ending is a bit tragic but hidden over by optimism. As we see at the beginning, Sydney was able to move on from the events of the first movie because she goes to a university and has a new group of friends who all unfortunately die, also with one of them being one of the killers and messing with Sydney making her not being able to trust her new boyfriend and thus getting him killed. Sure she does make peace with Cotton Weary but other than that as we see in part 3 she lives alone and goes under a different name for her job so that no one knows who she is.

Fun fact: The reveal of Mrs. Loomis as the killer is not just a reference to Friday the 13th but also a slight nod to Wes Craven's friend Sean S. Cunningham who directed the original Friday the 13th and worked with Craven on the last house on the left (1972) which was directed by Craven.

When I was a kid and I use to watch Scream 2 I thought the opening scene was how it was like seeing a movie on opening night lol and I always wanted to go to a class that talked horror movies lol
I like how they showed ghostface sneaking into cici’s house too… it was novel, a horror movie hadnt done before… but i disagree with u that it was an elaborate chase scene… hardly… now the chase of dewey and gale at school was very elaborate, best chase scene in a scream movie so far
I actually like the reveal that it was the reporter. Because she was always there, she was a character that showed up again and again in this movie without being really suspected because everyone thought she was just a Gale Weathers wannabe. I mean yeah, was the reveal that she was Mrs. Loomis all along executed perfectly? No. But well they had to give her a motive and what motive would a random reporter of her age have? haha Meanwhile Mickey was in my opinion a bit of a weird character. I recently rewatched the movies with my boyfriend who had never watched them and made him guess the killer(s) approximately 30 minutes before the end and Scream 2 was the only movie where I couldn’t remember all the killers. I remembered Mrs. Loomis but I was like “Was she alone? No… I don’t think so… Was it Cotton? But he seems a little too obvious.. Maybe it was the boyfriend?” and I have watched Scream 2 a few times a couple years ago. And I know what’s missing for me with Mickey: It’s not the motive or the monologue at the end, that’s all great, but within the movie we don’t see him enough. At the very beginning of the movie he is very present but at some point he’s not really there, the viewer forgets about him because we don’t see him anymore. When my boyfriend was guessing th3 killers he didn’t even think of him, neither did I, who should’ve already known it was him. I think a good Ghostface needs to be continually built up as a character out of costume, and not kind of fade out after the first act. Yes, he had lots of killing to do, which is why it makes sense, that he didn’t show up every two seconds but then maybe they should’ve spaced out the kills a little or something.
Can't wait for your Scream 4 review, it's my favourite after the original. I just watched the alternate cut for the first time. The script definitely flows better than the theatrical version.

I like how you included the leaked script for this conversation yet it would’ve been interesting if you brought up the point of the leaked script and how different it was compared to the movie we got now. Love this movie regardless. However, I will say this….after hearing what you talked about the reveal of Mrs. Loomis, I understand why you had an issue. So the scream reviews yesterday. So hyped. They all said it's super gory and violent with great kills and a great third act. So I'm hyped. Ready or not was wild.
I love this movie and for me it’s my favorite sequel of this franchise with scream 4 behind it and scream 3 in last even tho I do like all of them even scream 3 it’s still good. Plus this movie has one of the greatest kills from this franchise with that pole through the head which is just ouch

Scream 2 was the knife through the head and the pipe though the head, scream 3 toned down the gore/brutality but the one I chose was Tyson specifically when he was being chased and ghostface flipped the rug causing him to flip and hit his neck, scream 4 Olivia cause do I really need to explain she got fucked up and the other being that one detective who got stabbed through the brain even tho I hate his dying words “fuck Bruce Willace” his death made me cringe cause of all the blood leaving his head

Scream 2 will forever be my favorite Scream. I feel like they really pulled off upping everything the 1st did, and the motives of the killers were actually believable. This was also my first rated R movie I saw in theaters and the opening kill scene scared me so bad that I didn’t use the bathroom throughout the entire movie.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Nothing in Scream 2 is as iconic or horrifying as that iconic opening scene from the original Scream. But Scream 2 as a story is much stronger, the character development is rope notch, the stakes are higher, and the meta commentary is sharper, with the “Stab” franchise blowing open the series mythology and paving the way for the rest of the franchise.
There were multiple clues that she was the killer. When she posits Gail that if the killer is repeating woodsboro, then maybe they are from woodsboro. She was from there. Also she asks Gail how it feels to know someone is out there watching and enjoying this- she was referring to herself.
@@kyleroberts1276 they could have just as easily as the other clues for the other killers. Just because some did and others didn’t doesn’t change the fact they were clues- nor the difficulty level of them.
12:11 Since it's Mrs Loomis on the phone and she knew nothing about horror films unlike her son Billy, Stu and Mickey did she just made generic threats to kill them.
The problem with complaining about the Debbie Salt thing is the fact that she had walked out on the family. She likely was never a thought after Billy was discovered to be the killer. How many is us know what the parents of prolific serial killers? Gale saying that she’s seen pictures of her before, where as Sidney instantly recognized her. And thus ingeniously had not seen her on the campus up to this point, proves just how little she was a thought beyond Billy telling Sidney Maureen was the reason she left. But in the event that someone did want to look for her, as the parent of a famous serial killer, if you could afford it why not get plastic surgery. It made perfect sense to me.

This film had a lot to live up to after the success of the first + add in sped up production and you’re asking for disaster. Luckily, this film was highly entertaining and works for me. Also, quite nostalgic for me. Solid 8 out of 10
Unpopular opinion but Scream 2 is my favorite in the series. I thought the suspense, the comedy, the chase scenes (especially Gale’s), and the killer reveals were so much better. Also Gale’s character arc and Sid being a complete badass made me prefer this film over the original
Scream 2 is my favorite of the franchise, with the original right behind it, then Scream 4, and Scream 3 last. However, I adore all 4 movies about the same. All 4 are phenomenal and I cannot wait to see the 5th one in 6 days!!!
Laurie Metcalf, Jada Pinkett and Sarah Michelle Gellar literally saved this film IMO. Laurie is a BRILLIANT actress and killed the role as Debbie Salt before the reveal even happened.
I love Mrs. Loomis being the killer! - “ I was in the front row asking all the questions.” - “Well if the killer is repeating what happens in Woodsboro it’s quite possible that the killer could be from Woodsboro . That’s all.” (She gave herself away here as she was not in the police station when they discussed the copycat.) What I like the most is how she kept her distance from Sydney.
Mrs Loomis actually says to Gale earlier in the movie that if the killer is repeating Woodsboro, its possible the killer is from Woodsboro. It's just that Gale doesn't know she is Mrs Loomis and is in fact from Woodsboro. The movie is also clear in never framing Sydney, Randy and Mrs Loomis in the same scene until the end of the movie due to Sydney knowing Mrs Loomis quite well.

And I know what’s missing for me with Mickey: It’s not the motive or the monologue at the end, that’s all great, but within the movie we don’t see him enough. At the very beginning of the movie he is very present but at some point he’s not really there, the viewer forgets about him because we don’t see him anymore. When my boyfriend was guessing th3 killers he didn’t even think of him, neither did I, who should’ve already known it was him. I think a good Ghostface needs to be continually built up as a character out of costume, and not kind of fade out after the first act. Yes, he had lots of killing to do, which is why it makes sense, that he didn’t show up every two seconds but then maybe they should’ve spaced out the kills a little or something.

Scream 2 is definitely number 2 in the franchise for me. Love this video. I like how you included the leaked script for this conversation yet it would’ve been interesting if you brought up the point of the leaked script and how different it was compared to the movie we got now. Love this movie regardless. However, I will say this….after hearing what you talked about the reveal of Mrs. Loomis, I understand why you had an issue. But, I loved the reveal and I thought it made some sense. It is what it is tho

@@carloslopezortega3327 like the best/goriest kills are Steve, Casey since they were both gutted while Tatum got a unique kill with a garage door from scream 1. Scream 2 was the knife through the head and the pipe though the head, scream 3 toned down the gore/brutality but the one I chose was Tyson specifically when he was being chased and ghostface flipped the rug causing him to flip and hit his neck, scream 4 Olivia cause do I really need to explain she got fucked up and the other being that one detective who got stabbed through the brain even tho I hate his dying words “fuck Bruce Willace” his death made me cringe cause of all the blood leaving his head

Scream 2 will forever be my favorite Scream. I feel like they really pulled off upping everything the 1st did, and the motives of the killers were actually believable.
This was also my first rated R movie I saw in theaters and the opening kill scene scared me so bad that I didn’t use the bathroom throughout the entire movie.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Nothing in Scream 2 is as iconic or horrifying as that iconic opening scene from the original Scream.
But Scream 2 as a story is much stronger, the character development is rope notch, the stakes are higher, and the meta commentary is sharper, with the “Stab” franchise blowing open the series mythology and paving the way for the rest of the franchise.

There were multiple clues that she was the killer. When she posits Gail that if the killer is repeating woodsboro, then maybe they are from woodsboro. She was from there. Also she asks Gail how it feels to know someone is out there watching and enjoying this- she was referring to herself.
Those clues are only obvious after the killer is revealed though. Noone would've ever picked that up the first time watching.
@@kyleroberts1276 they could have just as easily as the other clues for the other killers. Just because some did and others didn’t doesn’t change the fact they were clues- nor the difficulty level of them.

The problem with complaining about the Debbie Salt thing is the fact that she had walked out on the family. She likely was never a thought after Billy was discovered to be the killer. How many is us know what the parents of prolific serial killers? Gale saying that she’s seen pictures of her before, where as Sidney instantly recognized her. And thus ingeniously had not seen her on the campus up to this point, proves just how little she was a thought beyond Billy telling Sidney Maureen was the reason she left. But in the event that someone did want to look for her, as the parent of a famous serial killer, if you could afford it why not get plastic surgery. It made perfect sense to me.

This film had a lot to live up to after the success of the first + add in sped up production and you’re asking for disaster. Luckily, this film was highly entertaining and works for me. Also, quite nostalgic for me. Solid 8 out of 10
Unpopular opinion but Scream 2 is my favorite in the series. I thought the suspense, the comedy, the chase scenes (especially Gale’s), and the killer reveals were so much better. Also Gale’s character arc and Sid being a complete badass made me prefer this film over the original

Laurie Metcalf, Jada Pinkett and Sarah Michelle Gellar literally saved this film IMO. Laurie is a BRILLIANT actress and killed the role as Debbie Salt before the reveal even happened.

Mrs Loomis actually says to Gale earlier in the movie that if the killer is repeating Woodsboro, its possible the killer is from Woodsboro. It's just that Gale doesn't know she is Mrs Loomis and is in fact from Woodsboro. The movie is also clear in never framing Sydney, Randy and Mrs Loomis in the same scene until the end of the movie due to Sydney knowing Mrs Loomis quite well.
