    Glad I got into topre less than a year after joining the keyboard hobby. Yes you spend but they are a lot more rewarding than endlessly spending on the latest foamed up mx boards out there.

    I ended up liking topre alot more than i expected. I have bought one for my final year of uni and have been using it non stop, Lubing the sliders, stabs and the pcb with 205g0 have made it a much better board!

      I can imagine it’s great for essays etc - lubing is definitely the next step for me!

    I'm watching this while using a hhkb classic. I've built a few customs but I stuck for my niz keyboard for a year even with those, going to actual topre feels amazing and the hhkb layout is the only way I could go if I ever build a 60% custom

    great informative video! One suggestion: Put your tripod on the floor while filming soundtests and not on the table. The Vibrations of the table are very loud if you hear headphones and can create a false image of the original sound signature of the keyboard. Keep it up!

    Cool video. I have the Topre Realforce 105UB 45g in German Layout. Unfortunately it suffers from an water damage and I can't use it anymore. I might order another one in the future. But now I am stuck with a Rubberdome Keyboard.

    The Topre switch, and more specifically the Realforce Topre Corporation keyboard, is a typing man's keyboard. If you're someone who needs to type all day and requires nothing less than the best, you will find yourself looking at a topre keyboard. And for the truly distinguished gentleman, you will find they gravitate to the Realforce keyboard with variable key weighting to reduce strain over long hours of typing. Fun fact - typing to you on a realforce topre keyboard right now.

    I really like the feel of topre (kind of like membrane but without the mushiness) but im not a huge fan of the sound

  • @willtypes

    you should give the niz keyboards a try, they are a way better alternative of topres, there's more thock and less of that clack from the up stroke. betters stabs as well!

    If there was any Topre keyboard with all the keys and an ISO layout, I'd buy one, even at the crazy prices of the Topre Realforce. But they don't sell any, and I'm not paying £300 for a keyboard with an inch-length spacebar or the wrong enter key.

    The OG hipster board. Always that one guy who lugs around their own keyboard to the computer lab.
    Also artificially high price to make it somehow look like an endgame. Blue alps is the only legit end game.

    I just can't get over the amount of scratch I hear in literally any topre soundtest. Lubbed or not, the scratch is immense. It kind of sounds like dried gum scratching against plastic. It's just terrible. I suppose the feeling must be incredible to overlook the way this sounds.

    • @DrWiki-po1hk

      No one cares about the sound because it's muted anyway. People buying Topre buy them for completely different reasons. Most of it is indeed the feel.

    They sound awful 😢 but I tend to like Topre clones more... Maybe I'm weird but the Niz Plum sounds and feels so good compared to the HHKB 🥰

    • @Charo.mp4
      @Charo.mp4  Год назад +40

      People usually go for Topre for the feel as opposed to the sound - if you look up some sound tests of lubed Topre boards they sound (subjectively) nice and muted although personally I much prefer the sound of MX-style boards!

    • @panka1595
      @panka1595 Год назад +8

      its not a type-s, nor is it silenced using special rings, so while the bottom out sounds is pretty much just "thock", the top out is still just plastic on plastic hitting. you can look up soundtests for hhkb type-s, the difference is significant
