You young people and your graphics, back in my day Cloud was made out of about six boxes, and if the screen loaded at all we were happy.
Our main weapon had two materia slots...for a whole party...and we had to share the slots.
And don't forget the Better story.
I reselled the game Just for the numens.
And usually i DON'T resell my games.
And another thing, when you bought a game you got the whole fucking game complete from start to finish not part of a game, and it worked, because the people who made it made sure it worked before they released it.
@@downswingplayer9712 As a QA technician. these kind off statements are wildly unfair and rather telling of the ignorance behind how complicated new games are. If you want old games they're all still there. I like em too, so nothing stopping you from playing them. But don't bring that mindset to new big title games, because they aren't the same. And never will be again.

CAUTION: you need choose the extra ps5-version in the store (its hide). If you just click on FF7 Remake it will still just install the ps4 version.
Easy way to check is to filter your games to only show ps5. If FF7 isnt showing within that filter, you made a mistake somewhere ;)
I've heard somewhere that you need to install both versions, unless I am getting something wrong and it's from another cross-gen title.
@@superplayerex2431 only if you want to use your save from the ps4 version, you gotta upload your saves through there than you can delete it and just use the ps5 version

@@superplayerex2431 That's only for save management - and you don't need to install the ps4 version on your PS5. You just need to login to your old PS4 game and upload each individual save.
I had to do this to transfer 10 save files. You need to upload from PS4. Download to PS5. Repeat for all 10 saves. Kinda annoying

Nobody seems to notice this, although a very minor detail. But when starting a new game on the ps5 version vs the ps4 version, the music when the bird flies over midgar, is slightly changed. A few chords were switched around and the choir sings a few different parts. That's the first thing I noticed!

The 60FPS mode and minor fixes to environmental texture loading make the game feel much more immersive. It's definitely not perfect, but considering the games troubled development history, it's pretty impressive overall.
I do think there's work to be done with skyboxes and background environments. One of my biggest issues is that they're not dynamic at all. There's no flashing lights on structures or moving clouds or steam or anything like that. They're 100% stagnant. This is a little puzzling considering Square and FF's history with dynamic pre-rendered backgrounds.
I do really hope they address and improve this is the next installment, as it takes away from otherwise stunning scenes.

There is absolutely steam and changing lights. I just encountered both of those things while at the underplate going after reactor 5
Amazing analysis! I have put Hundreds of hours into the original FFVII and still play it to this day. With Remake and Intergrade my obsession has been magnified deeper. I have put 220+ Hours into Remake and with Intergrade I plan on replaying the Game from scratch to get Platinum. I definitely agree with some of the drawbacks in the recent update but where they improved upon in other areas, they definitely excelled! 🙌

The sound was the second most obvious thing for me. The location effect is really good in PS5 where you can hear the person on your left or right ear, depending on location. And there is the environment echo that I appreciate. Also the most obvious is their choice to change the intro music altogether-- which for the record I prefer the original one better. Not sure why they changed it. Lastly I did notice that they did add a few new lines of dialogue.
At least they gave a free upgrade to the ps5 rather than making us pay another $60 for it

As if this game didn't already look amazing I was playing Metro Exodus enhanced and got the feeling we're spoiled.
Yeah, sometimes you can't have both lighting and textures without sacrificing some other kind of performance. I've done lots of 3D mapping on some Steam games and I have noticed that a bit too much light fogging does take away from some really cool detail work. I mostly agree with you, though. There isn't much that can really be done with the audio other than remastering and tweaking certain frequency ranges to make things stand out more, etc. It's essentially the same mix.
I love the upgrades. Finally proper textures and 60fps! Music is amazing in INTERmission. In Remake in general. Easily OST of the decade for me.

@@sargentordb507 Yeah they had multiple animated ribbons for the vfx moving around Nero which must have been a bit hard to have run smoothly on the PS4s old hardware.

I played this game start to finish again on hard mode. The little upgrades really added up. It felt genuinely next gen, at least in the main story cutscenes. The hub area still felt like a yakuza spinoff.
I feel that intermission introduced a lot of new BGM that sounds great.

One of my better PS4 Pro upgrades was fitting an SSD instead of the original HDD. Though you didn't discuss load times, you did mention texture loading issues on the PS4 Pro and I've gotta say, I rarely experienced those while playing FFVII Remake. Yet to purchase a PS5, FFXVI will probably be why I get one.

That lack of SSR in the Shinra tower is a big loss. That whole chapter was jaw droppingly beautiful - like stop playing and just take a break from being overwhelmed at how beautiful everything is once you appear in front of the tower. Entering the Lobby itself was shocking at how good it looked. To know that that super stylized, super modernistic, super clean reflective surface look is muted is disappointing :(

I'm eagearly waiting for that version to come on pc. I've been a fan of FF7 since my childhood, and getting older I just prefer gaming on a pc. It really hits me in the heart hearing the remastered music. There is no other game that gives me such strong emotions than this game.

I am sure it will not come out on PC. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is exclusive for PS. And me as I am a fan of FF7, I bought PS4 in the first place just so I could play FF7 Remake. And I think I will but PS5 once the second part came out on PS5. Just a thoght.
@@okvanpradikta1994 it's recently been added to the epic games store database, so it's very likely to come on pc (as FF15 came on pc after it has been released on playstation)
Edit: There are a bunch of playstation exclusives that are coming to pc now. Days Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn, Detroit become human, Death Stranding to name a few. Even The Last Of Us 1 is coming to pc.

I was playing performance for for first few hours of the game, already so amazed and loving the graphics. Almost forgot there is a graphics setting. When i switched to that, i didn’t switch back, i do love the 60fps, the sacrifice of the graphics are too much i noticed. The 4k is insane! I would love a ultimate 4k60 of this game when the ps5 is a bit more developed over the years.

I imagine the team will shoot for 30fps again - even I don't want that, I imagine that the game could look insane at 1440p with TSR to upscale to 4k
At this rate - it's more than likely FF7 Remake part 2 is on UE5. Square likes to jump on new engines as soon as the tech is available to them
UE5 needs less resources so i guess it would run and look better.. i hope they don't work on internal engines anymore thats the reason why everything took so long lol
@@Nick930 For the environment in part 2 we may have the very real possibility of the CG division of Square, Visual Works, just handing the level team their assets if they go UE5. That line is going to get very blurry for a lot of games this generation.
well, then i pray that they don't have another exclusivity deal running with sony, i couldn't stomach such a terrible message.
but since you mention the TSR, they can easily punch in a performance mode where it upscales from 1080p to the resolution that would allow for it, to still run at 60fps. i'd even take 1080p upscaled from 720p, before being bothered with 30 fps ever again.
a blurry image will always be superior to low fps related judder. there's nothing more jaring than perceiving those missed frames and this lack of fluidity, besides if the game is inheritly broken.
i played up until wall market, back when it released, then stopped because my brain started to hurt from all those missing frames.
i ate something, and seen my fav streamer play the game being maybe one hour behind me.
the interpolation and low bitrate made the picture so muddy that i didn't realy perceive the missing frames of animation as much.
i decided right then that i'll just watch it, i knew that there had to be a 60fps upgrade down the line, either for PS5 or when the PC release would inevitably happen. i knew that the gameplay was fire, so i stuck it out.
fast forward to last week, played trough the game in 46 beautiful hours and had such a blast, because the action of the game has so much more room to shine with 60fps.
funny that i mention shine, and good that i didn't know about those missing reflections ^^
PC release can't come soon enough, my PC is ready! they better have an extra filthy elitist option for the 3090 owners, where you can make use of way more ram than normaly. there's 24 gigs of vram waiting to be used, and a lot of potential to never see another muddy texture in the game. and this game deserves it.
I actually hope they shoot for 30 fps or at least provide the option. For very cinematic games it looks much more pleasing to me than 60+fps. 60 fps is just too much soap opera effect and it's so much easier to constantly see you're playing a video game and that breaks the illusion. It's not that I like everything in 30, most games I like 60 fps but certain games like RPGs, God of War 2018, Metal Gear Solid series I really prefer the 30 fps look, even if the gameplay isn't as smooth.
Okay, the most important detail I have yet to see anyone report on is the "slow shimmy" moments.
The PS4 version made you slowly shimmy through tight spaces several times in the game to allow the console time to load assets. Has the PS5 eliminated those now that it uses a high-speed SSD?
since it's integrated in the level design, no, they're still there.
It would have been too much a change to remove them.
That would be great, I dislike these moments in just about every game.

That's a dope box the controllers came in.
One thing I noticed is that in the bike sequence, specially the Jessie one, the break trigger does an amazing job and making you feel all that speed being hindered by the breaks. But the acceleration trigger needs a bit of improvement.
Not saying PS5 doesn't look better or the lighting isn't overall more realistic but I did really enjoy the lighting at 5:25 on the left on that big structure there where you see the light actually hit a small piece of it so it lits it up, it makes it look really good to me.

I thought the matted reflected lighting on the Shinra Corp floor looks more mysteriously ominous in the PS5 version, whereas the floor lighting on the ps4 looks like it was done just to prove it could be done
People have been waiting for this remake for so long, who knows if it'll be another two decades 'till we get the full game.

@@cuki6774 This remake is only around 10% of the original. They expanded a 5 hour story to a full game so it will probably take 3-4 games to complete the ff7 story
Compare the opening cinematics, it was redone with different lyrics and a different pace.
To be fair, I can only see the difference when held side-by-side.
The thing that does make me wanna buy a PS5 are the load times, though!

This game is gorgeous no matter what. I can't wait to get my hands on part 2 next month and 3 whenever it releases.
Just completed it on PS5. Graphics and performance are WOW.
The skybox texture are not PNG or jpeg file, but true HDR pre rendered open EXR or HDR file format, when activate property on Unreal or Unity your able to see light emitting, from the sun, the sky or even light bulb, it's also interact with the lighting of realtime 3D object and raytracing, the concept is not new in pre rendered CGI world, it exist since 1997 but was mostly usable with, 360 photo capture since 2001, but now it's really efficient in real time and New UHD screen.
This game is awesome!!! I just recently beat the original and I’ve gotten 8 chapters in and so excited to finish this game!… 3 years later when I finally get a PS5 lmao

kinda strange that they overexposed and blew out the detail in the sky above midgar and added a misty fog to basically every location. I appreciate the texture touch up and the boosted framerate but the other design decisions im alittle torn on.
to games developers that add too much lighting, lens flaring, fog effect, etc: pls don't change things that don't need to be fixed
I’m on chapter 11 of the ps5 intergrade and man… absolutely beautiful while playing 60fps on my 4ktv. They put in so much work on this project I can’t wait for part 2 to get some kind of announcement

I've been replaying the game as Intergrade after playing the PS4 version and I truly felt and loved the new graphics ! Especially those lighting and fog effects !!!

As for the sound design, I noticed quite a big change mostly in the intro scene, I found the sound to go very far into the bass and made it even more epic.

Not complete sure which version I'm playing but the graphics and loading times are amazing on ps5!
I think the claustrophobic skybox was an artistic choice, it may have been inspired by hardware limitations, but I think it works.
A few things.
Midgar is in a crater. The upper plate is level with the crater top. The ps4 sky box did feel like a bowl effect but the ps5 version is more accurate with the crater edge more to scale.
I'm surprised you didn't talk about a number of voice lines being re-recorded as well as option changes throught.
I think some assets like the bags just didn't get attention. Lol 🤣 who knows.

6-12months from ps5 release of the game depends on how long sony extended the exclusivity and then if square continues the partnership with epic it's dead for many PC players even with a ''PC release'' like kingdom hearts PC lol

Definitely noticed the ps5 intro music was dulled down a bit compared to ps4. I had to crank the volume up a bit just to hear it slightly more clearly.

It tricks me how amazing the characters looks and how the scenarios and environment sucks at the same time.

You could tell that in Remake for PS4, square put all their eggs in the character model basket and it shows because the character models look amazing but the background textures and lighting suffered because of it.
In intergrade, they brought the rest of the game up to the same level

I don't think they utilized the 3d sound all that much. I have a $300 2.1 speaker set on my TV, and I'm noticing sounds that feel like they're coming from behind me on some games. I don't really remember any standout moments from the PS5 upgrade of this game though. The visual upgrade is pretty good though IMO. There are problems, but they feel nitpicky. The fact that we're getting 60fps and substantial graphical improvements both at the same time is already a step up from many upgrades.

Yeah, We're finally running psone CGi, in real time gameplay... The Characters are pretty more advanced than the old original CGi characters, from 90's... I'm ready to see how beautiful is gonna be the next Final Fantasy remake. Maybe the Final Fantasy 7 part 2, using the PS5 power.
Wohoo! Now I can look at their compressed JPG backdrops in 4k! This came cost twice as much as RDR2 and took twice as long lmao!

It is beyond me why they don’t project sky boxes on simple geometry. The game doesn’t sell the idea of climbing a support tower, if the tower is disconnected from the upper plate. 🤷♂️
I honestly liked 90 percent of the old lighting on ps4 version over the lighting of ps5 version so far with playing through ps5 version myself so far
The lighting is much worse on PS4 how could you like it more? Especially in the district it's like night and day. So much more vibrant and areas are more properly lit.
@@TerraTheWise honestly o find alot of the areas, especially at very beginning of game to over done, yes technically it looks better, but you lose details you could see I background in alot areas in ps5 version that you could see in ps4 version I feel it should of been more in-between what the os4 lighting was and the ps5 lighting is, but thats just my opinion on it

Just put this on for the 1st time on ps5. Just blew up the reactor and then I get a screen saying game is installing, when done choose load game. Now it's kicked me out to the main menu and I can't continue where I was, thus happend to anyone else? Never had a game do this b4

@@huey515 the difference is that horizon and ratchet and clank are PlayStation exclusives that have forever exclusivity deals. FF is not something Sony has exclusive rights to have on their consoles. The deal is only 6 months longer. After that, it’s not up to Sony.
