If you want a real answer, the first handful of dialogues were from the Vanilla Naxxramas Kel'thuzad encounter wayyy back in 2004, whereas the rest of the dialogue is from the actual Wotlk expansion from 2008. Another thing: The Lich King's voice actor, Michael McConnohie, is also the voice of Kel'thuzad, perhaps a reason why he didn't voice The Lich King initially, *and* a confirmed reason why Kel'thuzad's voice was changed when Naxx was moved to Northrend in the WotLK expansion.
Mcconnohie didn't voice Kel'thuzad in WotLK because blizzard "didn't want to confuse people." Mcconnohie is so talented that he could easily do all three and it would be fine. i'd be more concerned with people confusing Kel'thuzad and Uther.
@@LichlordKazam Actually, the exact opposite. Revealed in the Rise of Arthas novel, Ner'Zhul was completely out of the picture, as Arthas "stabbed" his soul, as well as that of his humanity. In other words, it was all Arthas during wrath.
I actually do a damn good impersonation of his voice from Wrath of the Lich King. Only just *slightly* off... maybe if I had those same special effects it wouldn't be noticeable at all. Doing it for too long hurts my throat though lol.

+Shinigami Sama I wish people know that the one talking is ner'zhul not arthas, cuz arthas is only the puppet and in a vid he says he was once a shaman and arthas was not a shaman
+Dark Poisoneer Nope. They melded into one being and IIRC arthas kills nerzhul and his last remnants of humanity inside his head when he pops the helmet on.
I can't help but think about how the world would be if Arthas actually won. The world would be so icy and dark and undead would take over every corner of Azeroth and it gives me chills just thinking about it. Yet so fuckin epic. Great video.
shouldve let him win, then make an entirely undead expansion. That way, we would have undead versions of every race. In dark souls fashion you become the few undead that can aide in the extermination of the scourge. Only paladin and shamans can truly eradicate the blight and the darkness. The few remaining dragon aspects aid you on your journey to northrend to defeat Arthas at the top of the citadel. With a raid group, the adventurers wield forces of light and dark to stop The Lich King.

"Mercy is for the weak." Reminds me of a saying that I have. I'm probably not the first person to think of it. I may have picked it up subconsciously from a book or something. But, I always say, "Mercy is for the merciful."
I love the story and the epicness around the Lich King and especially Arthas when he gets Frostmourne and becomes the Lich King. After all we didn't defeat the Lich King. The light interrupted him when he was about to own us, if you remember. The story about the Lich King and Arthas is over. As a former death knight of the Lich King, I got stucked in the story and will still be in Northrend and practice the unholy things. And soon the Lich King and me will meet again.
wotlk last great expansion - I remember how cool it was when I 1st discovered that this main boss dude shows up to taunt you in quests and dungeons, this was a new thing in wow and it was a cool way to build him up for people who never played warcraft games
The reason for the LK not really killing us was believable. It wasn't plot armor that protected the adventurer but he was waiting for us to become the ultimate fighting force. When he was done playing around, he cast "Fury of Frostmourne" and we all die.
after learning more and more about the lore and how there were a few Lich Kings his voice changing makes more sense now. The Arthas version will always be the best.
I started WoW late overall; once Cataclysm started so I never heard the old versions. These are quite neat though I love the deep, echoing one that is the most recent.
the spirit of lich king is Ner'zhul forever it took over arthas's mind and just used him like a puppet when he died and tirions brother or w/e put it on surpressed the spirit with sheer will power and incased himself in ice.
After the merger, the Lich King sat dormant for several years while storms raged across Northrend and his minions constructed Icecrown Citadel around the Frozen Throne. While the Lich King dreamt, the various personas in his mind - the death knight Arthas Menethil, the orc shaman Ner'zhul, and Matthias Lehner, the personification of the remnants Arthas' humanity - fought for influence and control over the entity. It is noticeable that if arranged accordingly, Matthias Lehner is an anagram of Arthas Menethil. Matthias tried to reason with Arthas, but Arthas killed him by running him through with Frostmourne. Ner'zhul was delighted by this, declaring that he and Arthas were now free to merge into a single glorious being. Arthas rejected this offer, stating that once he had the power of the Lich King, no one would tell him what to do again. He impaled the stunned Ner'zhul with Frostmourne, becoming the dominant personality of the Lich King and ending the dream.[4]
@Colimaisnada Also CM Crygil also stated, "He didn't actually erase the persona of Ner'zhul. In point of fact, these two beings merged to make up what was collectively known as "The Lich King", on the official World of Warcraft forums.
No, Ner'Zhul basically just possesses anyone who puts on the crown or comes into contact with it and becomes "reborn" in their flesh. In Old Naxx, the Lich King's voice sounded broken and split because back then the different personalities that composed the entity of the Lich King were still vying for who would become the dominant one. If I'm not mistaken, at the end of the Arthas novel, the personality of Death Knight Arthas subdues both his own humanity and the personality of Ner'Zhul, becoming the dominant personna of the Lich King entity, and amalgaming the knowledge and memories of Ner'Zhul.
Blizzard should have done that... give us the choice to either be raised by the Lich King or fight alongside Fordring, imagine that? Half of your raid chooses to continue with Fordring while you fight alongside the Arthas in an epic battle, friends become enemies....

Kil'jaeden recognized that Ner'zhul did not have the will or the brazen audacity to follow through with his plan of forging the orcs into a bloodthirsty horde. Ner'zhul, realizing that his pact with Kil'jaeden would only lead to his race's annihilation, refused to help the demon any further.
