Looming over the stark wastes of Northrend, Icecrown Citadel awaits those who would see the Lich King and his Scourge brought low and the threat they pose wiped from the face of Azeroth. The heroes who venture within will face some of the greatest horrors yet seen. But before you burst into the front gate of the citadel, an alternate means of entry beckons. Journey through three separate wings of the new five-player dungeon, Icecrown Citadel: The Frozen Halls, and follow Jaina Proudmoore or Sylvanas Windrunner into the Lich King's domain.
ICECROWN CITADEL: THE FROZEN THRONE
All across Northrend, many battles have been fought against the vile Scourge. Countless lives have been lost since the Alliance and the Horde first reached these frozen wastes, but the champions of Azeroth continue to march forward -- and Icecrown Citadel, the cornerstone of the Scourge's power and the home base of the Lich King, is their final target. Tirion Fordring and the Argent Crusade have forged an accord with Darion Mograine and the Knights of the Ebon Blade to form the Ashen Verdict. This coalition's strongest combatants, along with the champions of the Alliance and the Horde, will lead the charge against the citadel. In the new Icecrown Citadel raid dungeon, Azeroth's mightiest will face terrifying challenges before ascending to the Frozen Throne, where the Lich King and his runeblade, Frostmourne, await to deliver the heroes to their deaths....

This was the culmination of Warcraft's story. Nothing else after this came close.
No Legion was. Sargeras and the Legion have always been the ultimate bad guy. Kiljaeden literally created the Lich King and he’s only number 2 in the Legion

Bran Coan not first at all...first death knights were an orcish warlock's souls "implanted" into human body...remember Teron Gorefiend..he wasnt dk with runeblade...but the warlock. And to be honest as well as Burning Legion, the Scourge are one of the core chaotic evil factions of lore. Old gods are whispering directly to them(Arthas/Ner'Zhul, Sargeras...)

This trailer still gets me hyped up to fight the Lich King
Icecrown always reminded me of a frozen over version of Mordor. But never the less Wrath will always be the most bad ass expansion in my eyes.

Questionable Object exactly.... it looks like frozen barad dur + minas morgul. Tower comes from barad dur and the bottom is minas orgul.
And Arthas just like Sauron is a hive-mind half physical half spiritual sort of being.
Warcraft's story is to a certain extent influenced by Tolkien's Lord of the RIngs, as well as many other fantasy books and games :)
@@krayos13 Oh yeah absolutely, warcraft is very inspired by (or derivative of) established fantasy styles, concepts and tropes, from its inception to this day.
The helmet of the Lich King always seemed to me to have been obviously copied from Sauron's helmet in the movies.
The "For the champions of justice gather at your gates!" part gives me the chills.

Of course because Hurricane doesn't get the voice actors to do custom lines for his trailers. Probably costs too much when he can do awesome trailers already. The emotion is much stronger here of course but the actual gameplay of ICC in the Hurricane trailer is much better than here.

I remember when they released this trailer! I WAS SO HYPED TO BATTLE THE LICH KING!
Greatest villain in WoW, definitely. He is to date the only villain that has actually forced the heroes, (being the Players) to our knees. He legitimately killed us. We were done for. If it hadn't been for Tirion, and Terenas, Azeroth would be running rampant with walking dead.
We could add Arthas's remaining humanity if we are to believe Uther.
To be honest i didn't like the way Tirion won the fight. It's like he could have prayed in the first place and the whole fight would be over.
Actually if he wanted he could make Azeroth a walking dead planet right away but as Uther said , the remaining of Arthas humanity is what keeping this planet not running with the undead

Watching this 8 years later and I get a chest pain from nostalgia. Truly it was one of the best moments in my gaming life standing on top of the frozen throne with arthas' corpse at my feet :,)
Yeah, I started Warcraft on WC3 and it was one of the best games I've ever played. The days I killed Illidan and the Lich King in WoW after that. Some of the best of my gaming life. It felt like I had closure on something I'd been working towards for a long, long time.
The climax of WoW. Even with Blizz's increased focus on cinematic storytelling and dramatic quests in later expansions, this here was the peak of my WoW experience; the day ICC opened and me and my 24 closest companions rode in to finally face the Lich King.
Why is this the best scene of Arthas?
Arthas' father: "blah blah righteousness blah blah you will be ended blah blah 2 minuites of threats blah blah"

That was bolvar man, he’s weak. He also didn’t have frostmourne
Bolvar is a crippled man on fire confined to a wheelchair. He also doesn't have frostmourne or any consumed souls. He also probably didn't even want to fight.
Bolvar has nothing to do with Arthas the real lich king, if you are confusing them for each other then your not a true wow fan

My one and only Arthas kill on 25-man normal, even with the 30% buff down at the end of the expansion, is still the greatest moment I ever had in 12+ years of WoW. We worked for so long on that fight, it was so incredibly cathartic when we finally got him.

This is the first patch trailer I watched. I joined in 3.1 but this is the first time I clicked on patch notes since I was lvl 8 0 finally and understood the game.

This Video makes me sad, because it reminds me of a time where Blizzard actually cared for WoW and gave us great worlds, awesome questlines and a great experience...
Awesome questlines? Sorry, I am also an old school player and I preferred those old games for many reasons, but their quest lines were NOT among their highlights. Questing is easily superior in MoP, WoD or Legion, for instance. Suramar is one of their pinnacles of quest line design.
The old WoW was superior for gameplay, social engagement, class design, systems and many other things, but no, not questing. That's one area where modern WoW has surpassed classic WoW.
Some of the best times in WoW history. Watching these still gives me goosebumbs. If Classic continues past TBC let it end though with the Lich King story line

God I miss these days. By far my favorite expansion. ICC was the best raid. I could do that one forever. Honestly its the last time I was able to raid regularly. Loved fighting the lich king even if I failed multiple times...
Still the best patch trailer. Would LOVE to see this with the new tech and animations.
