  • In this episode, Gordon harvests some ginger roots before the first frost and Sally turns the young ginger roots into something delicious!
We tried growing ginger in raised beds this year in our mild Mediterranean climate and weren't sure whether we would have a successful harvest. We heard that ginger can take almost a year to grow, yet we have a little more than half a year of warm enough weather to grow ginger in our climate. However, to our surprise, the few pieces of ginger that Gordon buried into the soil yielded a bountiful harvest!
Once the ginger has finished pickling, we can't wait to enjoy it with some sushi or even in a couple of stir-fried dishes!

Wonderful video. I just got harvesting my ginger and I was looking for ways to use it. I do have a question. What vinegar did you use, regular white vinegar or rice vinegar? Thank you...

We totally forgot to add that in! Thanks for asking. I guess we’ll have to do another video about it next time :)

Very little-we have been using some sugar substitutes. You can use as much as you want to taste!
