This is a really helpful review, not just for discussing (and showing) sharpness through the aperture range, but particularly for the discussion (and examples) of how it looks in various food compositions and in other settings.
Wonderful photos and terrific presentation! I just ordered this Sigma 50mm 1.4 Art Lens two days ago! Can't WAIT for it to arrive for my portrait work! I wonder if you might comment on the Canon RF 50mm 1.2? I know that is the "Cahuna" for those that have the $$$. But I do not, so I'm guessing this will still serve me very well :)
Love it. The 50mm is such a versatile focal length and totally underrated for portraits imo. I’m happy with my nifty fifty (I seem to have snagged one of the really good ones), but when it’s upgrade time it will be to the Sigma without hesitation.
Nice review. Since I started photography 2 years ago. I have went from Sony A7RIII to Fugi GFX. I hear you speaking mostly Canon and Nikon and for good back up reasons. Whats your view on Fuji GFX Medium Format?
Thank you for this. Altho' I'm a bit confused. Is this a 50mm on a full frame camera? If so, I surmise it's 50mm. But if i were shooting it with my Nikon D90, it would be a 75mm lens. Am I correct? Please clarify because I love this lens. Thank you!
Worth so much more when the review is done by a working pro using the lens to earn money many thanks for taking the time to make them
Best review of this lens I've found on youtube, well done

Thank you for this excellent review! This gave me the final kick to buy this Sigma lens.

The Tamron 45mm f1.8 sp will go toe to toe with this lens all day.
...and you’ve worked with Brian Blessed. Not jealous at all. Great review, thanks.

Yes, would be 75 mm, so even better for portraits.
Leica. How does it compare to the Leica SL 50mm F1.4
Do you ever install a UV filter for protection on any of your lenses?
