    Great pedal. It is what I like to call entry level Pro and it sells for $60.00 USD. Maybe the first rung of the Pro ladder but in a band contex playing what most audiences consider a tune the difference between or this spending 3 times the money is simply not there. THANX Eric for your usually great review. There isn't a better sight on the planet for judging what a pedal is capable of and how it sounds.
    To anyone reading my comment. It takes seconds to push on the thumbs up and subscribe. Erics demos can save you a fortune in buying the wrong pedal. So take two sips from your coffee and subscribe with your other hand. See which is faster and let me know 😊

    Lately, I’ve been playing more ambient heavy music. I’ve tried a lot of delay/reverb combo pedals but have had terrible difficulty picking the right one. Sonicake has terrific stuff and I’m hard pressed to overlook this pedal in their line in particular. Sometimes, too many reverb options can be daunting. It’s nice that the Reverb side is relatively simple to control.
    Great video and demonstration! Cheers, Eric!

    • @Hungry_Hunter
      @Hungry_Hunter 2 месяца назад +1

      @@ChurchOfTheHolyMho yes they are similar although the Levitate has less noise at higher levels and is easier to adjust due to it's larger size. For the price they are an absolute bargain and they make the right effects.

    • @ChurchOfTheHolyMho
      @ChurchOfTheHolyMho 2 месяца назад

      @@Hungry_Hunter Awesome. Thank you for the feedback... I was certainly liking the way the Levitate worked with levels, as some commenters on other Sonicake pedals (maybe Cloud Chorus?) wanted a Mix and not a Level - FWIW. Also, it's good to hear that they don't overlap too much in functionality... I'll probably pick up the Levitate and keep the Sonic Ambience on the wishlist, for now. Thanks again. It really is amazing how good these affordable pedals are getting. Just starting my pedal journey. :)

    Really useful review. It looks like Sonicake is upping their game both functionally and aesthetically with their pedals. Very impressed that this has a 2 sec max delay, that's perfect for ambient and shoegaze, and sonicake are smart to pair that with a plate style reverb algorithm for the same reason. This is a well thought out and handsomely designed unit I'm definitely thinking of picking up now. Thanks!

    Clear explanation and examples of the basic and some more advanced functions of delay and reverb and what they can do, almost no guitarist can do without these days and every beginner can understand this.
    Question: are you in a store or are those pedals in the back all your own?
    My 2 pedal boards are way too crowded already but I still have more pedals incoming, if I don't stop buying gear I will end up with a display full of pedals like yours, next to my guitars and my extensive watch collection (100+) 🤣
    Anywayz, I am looking for one of those reverb/delay combo pedals that let you 'trail' the effect almost endlessly by holding the footswitch down. Do you happen to know a decent but affordable pedal that does that? I know I've seen some a while ago but forgot what they were, was kinda hoping this was one of em, I can get a great deal on it atm, but its trail function is simply a choice between on/off. Appreciate any reply!
    Rock on! 🤘😎🤘

    • @EricMerrow
      @EricMerrow  Год назад +1

      Peter, thanks so much for checking out the video! I film in my office so all the pedals on the shelves in the background are my own and I’ve done videos for approximately 90% of them. As for reverbs with the momentary feedback feature - the first one that comes to my mind is the Wonderful Audio Technology Ancient Echos. Now it’s not in the same affordability range as the Sonicake pedals but it’s one of my absolute favorites

      @@EricMerrow Hi, thanks for the reply! That pedal's name doesn't ring a bell, and I'm pretty sure what I saw was a more affordable one. I'll find it. I'm retired now so I got plenty of time, I'll find it =)
      That's a lof of pedals you have there, here I am with 35 pedals on 2 pedal boards and people saying I'm crazy hahahaha! They're in for a treat: I've had a looong break from music scene / playing guitar and only just begun buying gear again🤘
      Edit: I found 2 that are more affordable and with some of the functions I am looking for: the Flamma FS22 EKOVERB and the Nux Atlantic Delay & Reverb, 1 was press button for endless reverb, the other for shimmer effect. I'm sure there were 1 or 2 more. Since I'm always on the look out for bargains, I'm sure I must've seen them somewhere on offer =)

    • @EricMerrow

      ‘Better’ is a hard thing to determine. The levitate is kind of rooted in a more simplistic approach. The sonic ambience is a bit more versatile in its different modes of each effect, but it’s focused on more intensely spacey sounds. So it’s kinda up to you to determine which you like better.

    • @EricMerrow
      @EricMerrow  Год назад

      The effect that makes it modulated is a chorusing or pitch fluctuation. You might try checking out the Sonicake Sonic Ambience which is also a delay and reverb. I believe it has a digital delay, which is what you’re after!
