- A lights-on ride through of Dinosaur, at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Recorded during the fall 2021 Disney College Program Celebration Event at Animal Kingdom. (Probably the best thing to come out of my program).
Yes, there are people talking during the ride. Yes, one of those people is me. No, I won't apologize for any of it.
I love how this ride looks stunning with the lights off and with the lights on it's basically a Rainforest Cafe

You know what I love more than anything else in the world? Someone loudly reciting all the ride narration because they can.

Normally i’d agree that reciting audio is not cool, but this was a cast member event. Every single person in the ride vehicle had been on the ride multiple times.
On any other ride that's shit but this ride is like camp central
for everyone irritated by the talking: this was during an after-hours experience for the cast members. they weren’t annoying anyone who was a guest just trying to enjoy their trip.
For real!? They were allowed to ride the rides?? I've never worked at an amusement park, so forgive me for not knowing anything about this stuff.

thank you for showing the tiny dino head at 2:32, ive known about it for years and seen pictures of it online and everytime i rode the ride i would look to the left when the camera flashed to see the tiny dino head for a split second. i could never find ANY videos of the "b mode", last year for the first time in my life i got to see "b mode" in person and it was hilarious, they cover the big animatronic with a tarp and shine a blacklight on the tiny unmoving decapitated dino head, i wish i could've recorded it
how is it even scarier with the lights ON? this ride is somethin else. 😂 i love it, though i can never keep my eyes open when i ride it haha

Had these teenage girls on the Guardians of the Galaxy ride at California Adventure do the same thing. Quoting the whole thing my first time on it. Bummed me out.
This was an after-hours event for cast members in a specific program. The lights were on. They were with their buds. There's a time and a place to be obnoxious on a ride, and this is that time and place.

That one carnotaurus coming Towards the cart was a terrifying part, and the one at the end. I never thought the ride was scary till I think of it lol

I’m a massive fan of Disney world rides and the behind the scenes aspects and such, and I honestly got more enjoyment out of the reciting of Dr. Seeker’s lines than the actual ride through lol
Dinosaur is one of my favorite currently operating rides Disney has ever had to offer
I’ve never been on this ride and I STILL know the script cause of everyone mimicking it haha.
My favorite dinosaur: the pipe-osaurus.

Terrifying how little sets and themeing are actually in this attraction and why over half of it takes place in complete darkness.
There is 2 Carnotaurus's in the beginning too. If Carn A doesnt work properly, the 2nd one Carn B is uncovered and used. Just like the random head one in the 2nd to last scene.
No. Let me explain. When the ride first opened there were two of them. The first you one you saw was either the male or female. The second vice versa. At the end here is when you got pinned down. It used to show both of them and they both had lights on them to see them and the other would move a little. Just like in the movie there were two. Now they dont use them. Because Disney likes to use less and pay for less to fix. And what they do now is kinda what you said. They use them to offset another animatronic if its down.
@@Ironmangroup a lot of time they just use extra unlit space in an attraction for storage. I did a tour of rockin' roller coaster 4 years ago and they had a spare xenomorph from GMR sitting in the dark.
@@Squanchpad That doesn't sound right to me at all. What I said about Dinosaur is what ended up happening. They were never meant to be spares. They were meant to be both used on the ride simultaneously. And as far as the xenomorph I worked at stuios for years. If you went around 4 years ago its around the time they shut down GMR. Otherwise they never put in random animatronics in different ride buildings. There is simply no reason. Rocking Rollercoaster is a relatively empty building. With only a scissor lift in the middle they dont have much in there nor the space.
@@Ironmangroup I think the floating head may be used for B mode now. I've never seen it until the last time I went and when we road it the floating head just lit up.
@@rebeldrummer09 Yeah thats how they use it now. They both used to be used together all the time. Thats no longer the case
This ride has so much potential. It definitely could use a refurb.
it was in 2016
we had a lights on in-show exit on this ride. the seatbelt on one of the unused seats on our ride vehicle failed to connect and shut the ride down. We were shocked at how it was just a large warehouse with a few fake plants and the animatronics. the difference between lights out and lights on was spectacular.
I feel like this happens quite frequently. As I’ve actually had this experience a couple of times. The lights on actually provide a little bit better of an experience lol because you can actually see what is around you.
I really wish that they would do some updates to this attraction.

Wrong. So wrong. The dinosaur head over to the left is used when the big standing Dinosaur on the right is down for maintenance. Good story telling, though! 10/10
@@stephaniebrooks6312 Girl. I lived in the parks since I was a child. I was there opening day. They both were used. And much like every other disney ride theming goes away. Take Rocking Roller coaster. It used to have a night sky. Then they got tired of cleaning it. It now has years of dust and gunk on it. They really dont like to use the other head. They have used the normal Carnotaur in a static position if needed. Theyd rather do that.
@@Ironmangroup Same, my dude. I was at AK opening day. Rode this opening day. Rode this hundreds of times since 1998. Most recently, in May, they covered the standing carno in tarps and green shrubbery and had the static head out to the left to take our picture. @@Ironmangroup I can confirm that it may have moved before, but that head at the end is the b show version of the carnotaurus (just like disco yeti is the b version of it moving). It’s used only if the big carnotaurus is not working, so they will light it up. It stays static

Thank you for posting this that was so cool! I was in attractions cast member at the magic Kingdom and at Epcot and had a few friends that were attractions at animal Kingdom/Studios and I tried very hard to ride as many of the attractions with the lights on as I possibly could but I never had the opportunity for this one so thank you again very much

@@JoseGarcia-gu4ub Ha! That would be the headache I get after all the jerkiness of the ride. But reflecting on this again, I'm going to say that the darkness is tied for the first worst part of this ride. I'm so claustrophobic and I nearly had a panic attack on this one once - M
Back when my family and I went on this ride, my mom apparently didn't realize how much the ride shakes you around, so she didn't think to take her hat off. Sure enough, it went flying off during the ride!
I’m not gonna lie, it’s cool you know the lines, but I just feel it’s not fair to other guests who have never been on the ride before.
Imagine if we all went to see movies we already saw and repeated all the best lines with the actors? Idk maybe just me. Just doesn’t seem cool?
I feel like if your first time riding Dinosaur is with the lights on, recitation of the lines is the least of your worries when it comes to ruining the experience.

i loved this ride, my band group went to Disney for a week and my friend and I rode this ride three times in a row, the first time my friend was laughing like a maniac and I was holding on for dear life, the second time we were both laughing like maniacs, and the third time was to get out of the hot sun, still incredibly fun though.
This was my favorite ride as a kid as well. It terrified me at first but seeing the Iguanodon at the end always cheered me up. I can still remember the smell of the loading area as well, that sickly sweet/mechanical smell? Idk what it was.

I don't know how it happened but that is so 🆒, you can see everything with these lights on and I noticed that there's a hallway behind the Carnotaurus and other areas usually that virtual ride takes place in the 🌃 time

As much as I'm terrified of this ride, I low-key wanted to work it during the 2nd half of my DCP while Boneyard closed. I ended up getting Rama, which I loved!

my favorite part is seeing ll the extinct ride elements and effects that are still there like the pterodactyl mechanism, and the original carnotaurus head before they added the big animatronic
That’s actually not the original head it’s used for when the big one isn’t working and they shine a light on it

Crazy how the track is flat and the vehicle itself makes you feel like your going over bumps etc.
I always scream so loud when I see the carnotaurus. I'm so terrified. I absolutely love the ride, don't get me wrong. But whenever I see the carnataurus, I always scream with terror.

Isn’t it sad! I mean they depend upon the darkness so much. And it’s a little ironic that it’s the sister of Indiana Jones which is actually probably the most themed attraction for its time.
@@JohnDonovanProductions I think it's pretty clever. Besides you're not supposed to see it with lights so the fact that we are fooled to think that there is so much going on but in reality it's not is genius.
What would you compare that drop to at the end? Like seven dwarves/pirates of the Caribbean or worse? I really don’t like that butterfly feeling, it makes me sick

I think it could be the old head that used to be at the final and they just kept it in the ride... either that or it's just a quick replacement part. Either way it doesn't make sense why this thing is just in the ride hiding in the darkness, kinda creepy ngl.

That’s amazing to see the ride with the lights on. But at the same time, it takes away the scary affect. The ride often gets so loud that I have to put earplugs on since I’m one of the few to be sensitive to loud environments and I try to not lose my hearing.
Never go on fast and the furious at universal and if you do, don’t sit on the edge. Dinosaur is a lullaby compared to that. My ears were actually ringing when I got off. It’s horrible.

It is a spare head when the ride is functioning normally it is completely shrouded in darkness

Screen projections, no animatronics there
They were retired after the 2016 refurb as the originals hadn’t moved In nearly 20 years

@@ThatOtherNathan no.. actually before they put the screen projection in. They were suspended props that moved on a track of levers and pulies.. when the ride opened up in 1998 they were able to move. But when they change the ride to dinosaur in 2000, they weren’t able to move after that so they left a aesthetic props. When they refurbished the ride in 2016 I guess they took out the static props and replaced them with the digital screen…

Ride was fun when I went on it at Disney
We broke down on it once and the car rocked for about 5 minutes, I almost got sick
I think they should have chosen a slightly brighter lighting for the main ride. The darkness is part of the experience for sure, but if it were a brighter red to simulate the asteroid while allowing riders to see more of this, I think it would have made for a better ride.
This ride already suffers for being too narrative focused and not thrilling like it’s counterpart, the least they could have done was make that narrative easier to see
Interesting with the lights on but the narration by the guest is annoying. Turn off your sound before you watch this.

oh, i think i may have been on this ride at that point. was it the last ride of the night during the DCP celebration? I also got some footage from my seat in the back right corner (though it wasn't as nice of a view and was kinda shake-y and quit halfway thru bc phone battery is small)
