@@Slavic_Snake Id have to agree. Although mgs1 is my personal favorite, I think 5 has by far the best stealth gameplay which really saved the game from lackluster narrative and very few classic memorable MGS boss fights
I'd honestly say that Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake is a better stealth game than MGS1 simply because the stealth is much more consistently involved and is mechanically better than MGS1's stealth implementation.
Phamtom pain is my second favorite, freedom of gameplay rather than a movie-game hybrid was a nice change of pace. And even though its story was disappointing, it didn’t ruin the great mgs 4 ending because it was set before
4:19 I don't think Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake was limited by it's time. It added vision cones, prone crawling, and a much more involved story that puts it on my own personal top 4 next to MGS1, MGS2 and MGS3. It's such a tightly designed game that I feel is only looked down upon because no one has any nostalgia for it given MGS1's popularity.

Next games I'll play will be the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, before I go to MGS3.
I think replacing David Hayter caused a lot of fans to look unfavorably on MGS5. It's probably a stupid reason, that is why I personally have not played it.
@@TDA792 I agree, although of course David is missed, the gameplay is stellar and worth playing even if it lacks classic mgs story/boss fights that we’ve come to know and love.

For me it’s between MGS2 and MGS3 but probably MGS2 when it boils down to it literally because of the final codec call between raiden, the colonel and rose
Gameplay and Graphics - Metal Gear V / GZ Story - Metal Gear 3 Nostalgia - Metal Gear 4 Improvement - Metal Gear 2 Vision - Metal Gear Peace Walker One of a Kind - Metal Gear Solid Any of those games are one of the best games in each generations of consoles, so all due respect to Hideo Kojima, many people forget that Meta Gear V was released in PS3 and PS4, now imagine that game being released in PS4 and PS5 how amazing it would look
This how I'd rank all Metal Gear games that I've played. I never played any of the crappy phone games though and don't plan on it either. 1. MGS4. 2. MGS1. 3. MGS3. 4. MGS2. 5. MGR. 6. MG Acid 2. 7. MG2. 8. MG Acid 1. 9. MGS P.O. 10. MGS G.B. 11. MGS VR Missions. 12. MG1. 13. Snake's Revenge. 14. MGS P.O +. 15. MGS5. 16. MGS5 G.Z. 17. MGS P.W. 18. MG Survive. < couldn't even finish it's so bad.
The Metal Gear Solid games are more heavily story based than any game of this series' run time. I prefer the earlier games though. The 5th entry was more interactive than any other entry in the series. The earlier games had better stories. The entries up until Metal Gear Solid 4 felt more like great movies than actual games. Gaming action was only ever present in the 5th entry. I don't, or better said, can't, understand how Konami could kill a series so engaging and mind-blowing as Metal Gear Solid.
I know it's an odd-ball pick, but for me #1 is Peace Walker. When you consider each game holistically most of them are fairly scant. PW has a good single-player story, but also co-op, and excellent pvp. The game-play and the base-management are simpler than the others, but I find that the limitations make for a more focused game. Not to mention all the extra missions.
Ima just ask now cause i dont have anywhere else to discuss, but in mgs hd edition did anyone else struggle in peace walker when you were trying to survive the shock torture. For me the button mashing was just too fast, but maybe i just suck ass idk (Big fan of the entire series btw, played all the mainline games)
1 - MGS 2 - MGS 4 3 - MGS 3 4 - MGS 2 5 - MGS V 6 - MGS Peace Walker My issue with MGS V is that it contradicts MGS 4. At the end of 4 Big Boss states something like, "You erased me two times before, today will mark the third." Then MGS V establishes that Venom is the one in the first Metal Gear. One would think that in MGS 4 Big Boss would mention this. MGS V still has good gameplay and replay value.
@@solidsnake9898 well my friend, some people can't always afford meaningful values. Even to understand and reach enlightenment, one must be blessed and be lucky to understand em. I know what I said sounds preachy but it's the truth. M.G.S might be a game but at the end of the day it's art and a great story that taught me alot of values. Kojima didn't create something mindless. He had value in his stories. Plus they're fucking badass. In a nutshell I'm saying is "understanding is an art and not everyone is an artist"
MGS4 is always going to be my favorite game. I was born in the late 2000s so I don’t have the same connection to MGS1 as many others do. For me that was MGS4 this is perfect as I just started to replay through the game a few days ago and just finished it a couple hours ago Liquid is still the best boss in any game EVER period. At least in my opinion. this game was also partially what shaped me as a gamer I’ve loved playing through most of the series recently and I love all of the games. At least the ones I’ve played.
While I still place MGS1 as my all time favorite I’m glad to finally see sum respect put on MGS4’s name! Definitely my second favorite in the series! So chocked full of fan service!
PSP's dissaponting commercial success? Sold over 80 millions, it was not that but rather that games did not sold well in this side of the Atlantic due tu piracy, I hate that people say psp failed when it sold better that the NES, SNES, Game Cube, N64
Not because anyone asked but here are my favourites. MGS 3: Snake Eater The story, the boss fights, the main character/s, supporting characters, the dialogue, the twists and the entire environment. I could go on, but the game is beyond words, I have never played a game with such a strong story from start to finish. MGS:V The Phantom Pain. I don't think it's controversial to put this game this high, sure the story is not perfect (compared to other MGS games) but I liked the bait switch in the end, I felt that the way Venom Snake was presented was very good and I love Hayter (as every MGS fan does) but I don't think Keifer was a bad choice. Also the most important factor is the gameplay and free roam, any future MGS game (hopefully remakes) will definitely need these, they've set a standard no game can give. I have 300+ hours on MGSV and I still play it on a regular.
You’ve missed out on the best story in MGS franchise in MGS2 (IMO) , for fact the theme of game is an mirror image of the world we are living in today, the game is still relevant 20 years into the future,
All of these games are amazing on their own, and combined in one saga makes MGS the absolute best overall…but seriously, 3 gets way too much credit when 1 and 4 are on the same level with both gameplay and plot and 5 having the best gameplay for ANY game rivaled just barely with Horizon!!

For me it’s between MGS2 and MGS3 but probably MGS2 when it boils down to it literally because of the final codec call between raiden, the colonel and rose
Gameplay and Graphics - Metal Gear V / GZ
Story - Metal Gear 3
Nostalgia - Metal Gear 4
Improvement - Metal Gear 2
Vision - Metal Gear Peace Walker
One of a Kind - Metal Gear Solid
Any of those games are one of the best games in each generations of consoles, so all due respect to Hideo Kojima, many people forget that Meta Gear V was released in PS3 and PS4, now imagine that game being released in PS4 and PS5 how amazing it would look
I LOVE METAL GEAR SOLID!!!!! My most favorite video games of all time along with Tekken.
Everyday I wish that Kojima would somehow continue this series. Even if it’s not called Metal Gear.
Twin Snakes? It’s better than the Normal MGS and more mainline than the crappy PSP Games
Mgs1,3,4,2 then 5 thats my order
Can the next Ranked video be on the Donkey Kong Country games?
Ghost Babel is the most underrated game in the franchise
The best Metal Gear Solid game is Ghost Babel (GBC)
title says metal gear solid, proceeds to show metal gear, nice
Love phantom pain, love the story, the twists, the change of snake's voice (different character), playability, damn good game
This how I'd rank all Metal Gear games that I've played. I never played any of the crappy phone games though and don't plan on it either.
1. MGS4.
2. MGS1.
3. MGS3.
4. MGS2.
5. MGR.
6. MG Acid 2.
7. MG2.
8. MG Acid 1.
9. MGS P.O.
10. MGS G.B.
11. MGS VR Missions.
12. MG1.
13. Snake's Revenge.
14. MGS P.O +.
15. MGS5.
16. MGS5 G.Z.
17. MGS P.W.
18. MG Survive. < couldn't even finish it's so bad.
I forgot Twin Snakes. I place this one tied with second place. I just loved the MGS2 over the top cutscenes it had.
i dont agree with putting vr missions above mgs1 or pw just above survive but its your opinions.
@@lefishe2258 I didn't put VR above MGS1, I put it above Metal Gear 1.
Putting MGS4 over the first game fucking blasphemy
I agree haha although I do enjoy it, it should for sure not be over my personal favorite mgs1
Metal gear solid 4 for me
If MGS1 isn't #1 then i'll be pissed!
This is a joke, right!?
Finally I love the series it’s my favorite
Ima just ask now cause i dont have anywhere else to discuss, but in mgs hd edition did anyone else struggle in peace walker when you were trying to survive the shock torture. For me the button mashing was just too fast, but maybe i just suck ass idk
(Big fan of the entire series btw, played all the mainline games)
Btw mgs4 is my fav mgs game with mgs3 right behind it. A little farther back is mgs Peace walker
Even tho MGS3 is how it all began: in the series
but MGS1 is how it all started in our hearts and childhood 🙏🏾
Is it so hard to give us a mgs collection for PlayStation and Switch?
It's not, Konami are just stubborn by not using titles under Kojima's name
1 - MGS
2 - MGS 4
3 - MGS 3
4 - MGS 2
5 - MGS V
6 - MGS Peace Walker
My issue with MGS V is that it contradicts MGS 4.
At the end of 4 Big Boss states something like, "You erased me two times before, today will mark the third."
Then MGS V establishes that Venom is the one in the first Metal Gear.
One would think that in MGS 4 Big Boss would mention this.
MGS V still has good gameplay and replay value.
I remember when this Channel used to hate metal gear franchise solely based on mgs portable Ops. Wonder what happened:P
Watchmojo still hates MGS. I can confirm this.
@@kazumajay It’s also called having objectively bad taste.
MGS1 is still my favorite can't wait to play it again along with 2 and 3 on the MGS Master Collection.
My favorite is Metal Gear Rising Revengeance
"Only mainline games" *includes portable ops*
If it has big boss, it's mainline.
Good job boys 👍 RIP METAL GEAR (1987-2018) 🥺
While I still place MGS1 as my all time favorite I’m glad to finally see sum respect put on MGS4’s name! Definitely my second favorite in the series! So chocked full of fan service!
My only issue with MGS5 is the beginning hospital scene. I dread picking the game back up because I don’t wanna go through that again
if you skip cutscenes it rly isn't that bad
For me personally, Sahelanthropus isn’t too hard, it just takes a long time to beat
Use the cgm 25 it destroys sahelanthropus in under 5 minutes
PSP's dissaponting commercial success? Sold over 80 millions, it was not that but rather that games did not sold well in this side of the Atlantic due tu piracy, I hate that people say psp failed when it sold better that the NES, SNES, Game Cube, N64
MGS1 still the best for me (before 4), a remake would be a dream come true
Next year marks 35th anniversary for metal gear franchise.
Im hoping to one day get the Kojima cut of mGS 5
Do all splinter cell games next
Either The Phantom Pain or Snake Eater
Well I still consider rising a mainline entry and we probably would have gotten a mainline entry in that style but Konami Hates us having fun
3 had my favorite final boss battle.
Even if i love all the games of the saga i must say the plot of MGS totally shocked me (my favourite)
2 > 1 > 3 > MG2 > 4 > MG >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> V
v better than 1 and 4
My ranking: 4, 3, 1, 5, 2
My personal top 3:
1. MGS 3
2. MGS 1
3. MGS V
Going to start Twin snake to see if it is so good or better than the original MGS1
Based off the games I’ve played:
1. MGS3
2. MGS2
3. MGS4
4. MGS
5. MGS V
6. Peace Walker
The Phantom Pain is still my favourite Metal Gear Solid game💙
It doesnt matter if MGS 1,3 or 4is your favourite, it just matters those are your #1-3 overall ;)
Ive been waiting for this ☺️
I still havent forgiven Konami for MGS5 and Survive
MGSV is excellent, even if near the end it's a bit unfinished.
Not because anyone asked but here are my favourites.
MGS 3: Snake Eater
The story, the boss fights, the main character/s, supporting characters, the dialogue, the twists and the entire environment.
4 is the 2nd best in the series and better than 1 and 2??? This is the brokest shit I've ever heard holy fuck
He forgot The Twin Snakes
Massive MGS fan here… have played them all besides the original 2 on the NES, Raiden’s PS4 game & Survival… I am ashamed that I haven’t played MGS 2…
You’ve missed out on the best story in MGS franchise in MGS2 (IMO) , for fact the theme of game is an mirror image of the world we are living in today, the game is still relevant 20 years into the future,
2 and 3 were masterpieces
And so was Metal Gear Solid 1.
Metal Gear Survive isn't on this list. I wonder why.
All of these games are amazing on their own, and combined in one saga makes MGS the absolute best overall…but seriously, 3 gets way too much credit when 1 and 4 are on the same level with both gameplay and plot and 5 having the best gameplay for ANY game rivaled just barely with Horizon!!
MGS 1-5 are all great. If 5 was finished it would’ve been my favorite but wasn’t 1 is my favorite because up til then I never played a game like that.
Snake Eater? What's that? Oh.. the best MGS game period that's being remade. 🫡
I just want re releases of all the games including obscure ones like acid twin snakes and portable ops/+
MGS 1,2,3 and 4 were all great. MGSV didn’t feel like a MGS game for me with few cutscenes and no David Hayter voicing Snake
