- Upgrading the non lethal MRS-73 is useful for your FOB guards if they are assigned non lethal long range. Other than that, using the higher grade variants in an FOB environment is hemorrhaging GMP and resources, so you're better off saving the costs.

FOX Engine games have aged nicely. The lighting, models, textures. Still crisp and gorgeous..
Shame it was only used for this game and Pro Evolution Soccer, it had so much potential
@@TiinKy333 Ground Zeroes and P.T. also use that engine. The photo realistic graphics of P.T. are quite amazing for a game from 2014.
Also, MGS4 used it first, with PW using a (I think modified) version of it as well and both those games also aged pretty well imo (fuck PW's torture scene tho)

He quite literally just spammed tranqualizers and used grenades to revert their attention. Still almost got caught multiple times. Everyone can do that.
If there was more variety of base styles (not just oil platform, although I do like it) this game would be an easy 200 more hours from me.
To be honest if i werent for all that Konami drama game could have been suported more by his fanbase and get updates sure fobs beside oil could have been great .
I wish there were some sort of FOB gameplay within the Story maps. Once you have done everything in Story it is so dry going back to the base game, it is only enjoyable if you start a new game.
Well tbf the main campaign alone was about 150hrs for me. That first month this game released was so fun.

I kinda wanna put my limited knowledge to the test and learn as i go making a game like this lmao, tons of "locations" to choose from with a base (HQ) building system, and you raid other peoples bases like this. With 1v1 PVP.
Ah yes FOBs. Everytime I look at these I am reminded of how insanely despressed I felt playing them with the series being on iced. It's crazy looking back now and seeing things havent actually changed much. FOBs on PC are an absolute hellhole btw

Sucks how much optimization is forgotten about and the only answer folks will give you nowadays is "get a better pc" - in the meanwhile, back in 2015 I ran this game on a potato pc and it was surprisingly playable with a stable framerate. Compare that to recent titles with an up-to-date pc, where the fps are not only struggling to stay above 60fps, but they hardly look better than this game...

@@Caedarva I won't lie, MGSV's FOB and Motherbase features look so complicated I never thought about optimizing my loadouts where cost was involved. I find it quite impressive that this game hasn't aged a day since its release. Still no better stealth game out there. And I really doubt MGS Delta: Snake Eater manages to top MGSV.

@@t.o.w.1887 even with three FOBs and modded S++ soldiers in single player it took me months to get just the required level...once I reached it I was so burned out by the game that I only logged on every two weeks to get most of the unique blueprints and I haven't really gotten to using them at all.
And the frickin Molotok I still haven't obtained, that's the one I wanted most but the FOB event schedule said "nah uhh"...it was propably the first event after I quit but I just didn't care anymore

That fact mgsv still has a strong following is a testament to it's gameplay loop and effective competitive multiplayer. It's not for everyone... And it doesn't have to be.

When guards spawn right by your side... thats fucked up got caught of guard so many times
It's a glitch, the engine can only handle rendering so many guards after you put a certain number to sleep.
I remember once on a combat unit infiltration i was about to take a shot at someone far on some stairs from the last bridge and the damn UAV just happened to block the shot, turned to me and spot me. My biggest wtf moment in FOB
That UAV definitely trained with the Secret Service
I got so addicted to this game and specifically the FOB matches last year. Earned enough MB tokens after the freebies to get another platform and then just bought some to max out to 4 platforms. Spent so much time grinding and waiting to get the end gear weapons, and truthfully enjoyed most of it until I finally did get those end game weapons and a high enough player score to be higher up in the leaderboard of current players. One day shortly after “having it all”, I completely lost interested and tried to play another match and didn’t have fun anymore.
MGSV is a very fun game. It still looks incredible to this day and has some great bones as far as mechanics go. There is still a pretty dedicated player base who are very talented at the game. It just gets old if you aren’t as crazy good as some of those guys like Neo Solider, Outlaw, SawDee, Kratos, FartFat, etc
IMO Non-Lethal Mid and LR guards unfairly get a bad rep.
Both grade 11 MRS 73 NL and UN-ARC NL do really well with Nuke rushers, as most veteran players aren't used to NL defense (99.9% use Lethal) and 2) they forget Stun/zzz bypasses BD armor.
This is of course, the defender is online and can respond. The biggest drawback is that they can just get up and carry on.
Hi there, it’s all situational and NL does shine in pvp, but there are better options than the tranq sniper if you’re defending.
The fact that NL staff can only defeat the intruder by Fulton already puts them at a huge disadvantage.

@@Caedarva S++ guards are fast as lightning, NL Drones constantly spam you with sleeping gas and half of the long-range guards are mid-range actually, of the 8 guards on the first 3 decks 4 of them are on the high grounds and the other 4 roam the deck, so if you're put to sleep and they're around you can bet they'll get you before you can get back up, if you're going to PVP you'll go in prepared with deployments lowering the grades of the enemy guards and removing backup.
If I remember correctly, you are quite the skilled non lethal defender too. I’ve fallen for your trap a few times before if you are the PC player I am thinking you are.

Started playing the game a couple weeks ago and i just unlocked the FOB missions after mission 22 and holy hell i didnt realize there was a whole another piece to this game. That was crazy to watch. Nice job Boss👍

I never get bored of FOBs
I'm playing through the game for a 2nd time on PC after not playing since it came out on 360, where I never did the FOB online stuff. I have to say, it'd extremely fun. I played a FOB yesterday on a well defended platform and I finished with only 3 seconds left and next to no ammo. It was the capture point where you has to go down the staircase into the inside area where all the plants are growing. I had no idea where it was, never been in there before. After circling around the platform about 4 times, I finally found it just in the nick of time.
Events are my thing

UAV Drones have battery vaporizer so it disables electronics, you can't use night vision or use your bionic arm

Never got to try it out back when I first played MGSV in 2016
9 year old game which looks 1000x better than anything coming out currently. plays smooth and great story.. all FREE. i miss 2015. great year for gaming.

That's why I do the FOB for resource gather only, I never liked it from the start. It's a good game but could use some upgrades to make it better.

I cannot describe how much I love FOBs ‘without’ going into video essay mode. It is the first incredibly underrated low entry high skill ceiling multiplayer experience that operates on a skeleton crew population. Nobody has come back to these oil rigs floating everywhere in these vast oceans, and yet they’ve been fine-tuned to still feel like a genuine challenge.
Just because you’re not fighting defenders directly doesn’t mean stomping on bots and security objects makes you un-special, because the AI and security measures match the grind and skill players put in ‘for them’ in and out of the FOBs. The Espionage Rankings match player skill against the bots INCREDIBLY WELL as a result of this, and you can pretty much see the rank-skill correlation consistently line up as you’re looking over your FOB defense reports. Three Diamond players are generally like the LEMs to GEs of CS:GO, always able to handle the security you throw at them. They’re cleaning you out while the Two Diamond players range from MG2* to LE. You can pretty much get where I’m going with this, and I could go on and on and on about every little aspect but at that point I’d get nerd emoji’d.

FOBs were fun to an certain degree for me in MGS V
MGS V Multiplayer problems and ideas:
- Lack of customization as for FOB *SOLUTION* Being able to place platforms by yourself even if on pre determined "boxes" (heh) and choosing a style for each platform (more floors or a widen area), ability to freely place guards, stationary weapons, vehicles - in other words everything that you can snatch with fulton including nukes (placing them in one of those platforms that have a pit at the end of a fob run surrounded by spotlights/drones/guards). All that while having to travel as snake to your FOB and activating a computer which would change to build mode (something like unfamous's Metal Gear Survive). This would make each base different and either tedious or enjoyable (imagine getting a tank as an intruder and having to fight through the entire FOB if you loose then just warp out and accept your defeat xd).
-Zero safety testing *SOLUTION* Being able to test your FOB freely (which means being able to kill and blow it up totaly without loosing anything). This way you can even have fun by yourself *wink wink*.
-A dark souls style invasion system in the open world of mgs 5. It would lock you in one of the regions on the map and have to fight a player in a open world space (can be turned on/off in some menu unlike the fob). This would look like first encounter with Quiet. Also it would be nice if there was no info about any player being in your world this way you could pepare a nice ambush and then enter officialy (a 5 min timer before youre vissible or the player spots you himself).
- No more bullshit costs for creating and deploying weapons and gear especialy in single player.
And finaly an attack helicopter or more in FOB.
I really love this game. One of my favorite.
You brought back some memories, i loved the nonlethal shotty but i wasn't as good, do you play like this at your first try?, i hate repetition so i wouldnt save on loadout. This game was held back by tech, happen to be launched for next series gen pc version would be sick. Nowadays i kill my stealth itch with breakpoint, which can be pretty decent but there isnt proper npc behavior anywhere as soon as suspicion rises imo.

I love going back to this game every few years. The barrier is too high for entry into high level multiplayer for my taste. But i love to run the story then do a some of the PVE Fob events in the endgame.

Hello man! I have a question for you: what fob locations do you use on your profile? First of all my interest depends on defense, and of course resources. Just came back to this game to trying finish it on all achievments and some more fob missions and realize i only have one fob except mother base and it worst north atlantic waters lol

Thanks! The drones won’t spot you if you are prone, still, and at least 20 meters away. This is why I usually mark drones that are in my route. It lets me know their exact distance

@@KopperNeomanHi, yes it does but the camo index is not on the HUD. The only reason I know it exists is because Squares camo makes you much harder to spot while prone, even more effectively than the sneaking suit. At night, while wearing Squares and laying prone without moving, some guards will not see you even though you are 15-20m in front of them.

Do you have optic camouflage?? I noticed that you are invisible at the beginning and then there’s electricity arcing around your character like the device shorted out
Is there any advantage to the sneaking suit over fatigues for PvE on FOB? Other than an almost imperceptible (for me anyway 😂) increase in armour...? Like sometimes I feel I wanna wear the sneaking suit, but it costs more, doesn't protect me very much, and gives no camo.... so I just wear fatigues and accept that I'm gonna die when things inevitably go pear-shaped....

Hey bro do you got a tips on the best guns, and equipment in the game?
Just started playing recently (PS5 Definitive Edition) and wish I had been there at launch... I've just made it to mission 22 and have been enjoying the current event (Mosquito base), but its really overwhelming especially when watching pro-players like this who make it look easy.
Are there still communities that are active, and that have resources to help make sense of everything (such as tutorial/guide videos, Discord groups etc).
Luckily my Aspergers OCD had me grinding out outposts and bases in free roam, collecting herbs and staff and resources so I had plenty to utilise when I got to the FOB stage of the game.
I guess my first question is about the layouts of platforms, they are the same as your own Mother Base platforms?? So, learning the layouts with all the little crawl spaces, pipe climbs etc is a good idea, or better to just go in blind and pick it up as you go?
Theres so much to learn, kinda lost as to where best to start and what to focus on to begin with?

i was planning on playing mgs v on pc when i got my new pc, is the fob stuff that bad? does it interfere if i just want to play out singleplayer?
I haven’t played in a while so I’m not sure what it’s like now, but the FOB stuff is almost entirely optional.
