Pippy is enjoying this. My GSD did not enjoy being touched until recently. I watched several of your videos and have since switched my dog to a home cooked diet. I know it is not better than a raw diet, but that is not feasible in my house. So, we give him a multivitamin, as recommended, and feed him a diet of steamed vegetables and meat with quinoa. I have worked it out to supply a three day supply. I cannot thank you enough for the insight you have given to us as fur parents. He is a much happier dog. Thank goodness, the ear infection has not returned. It;s not an overnight remedy and you have to be diligent, but it is worth it. Thank you so much.
Me either. My vet said that with his skin conditions he was better off without it and supplementing his food. I too do all the things you listed. I tried the barley and his itching returned. No idea why. So, we now use quinoa. One very happy dog.

Thank you much for your down to Earth information. I have Sky, an 8yr old female Maltese/Poodle. She was chewing & licking her paws & developed a pimple like rash on her back, on the spine line. Hello. Thank you for explaining this. I have a 3 years old pug. He's constantly scrathching himself on his face and neck, he's very sensitive (when i touch him he becomes itchy) he's also licking his paws a lot and this happens everyday for almost a year now. My veterinarian checked on him from the very beginning and said he has atopic dermatitis (something common for pugs I guess). He has redness in between his digits, he sheds A LOT , he has lesions on his paws probably from licking and biting himself constantly, he has ear infections very often - I always treat him. At the clinic they say it's pretty basic and often with pugs and that there's nothing I can really do. I only feed him Royal Canin Veterinary diet - Anallergenic food and nothing else, no other treats aswell. He's checked regurarly so it can't be external parasites. Now the question is, why is this happening? I have all sorts of creams and ointments that I use on him, but mostly for treating the lesions, nothing to prevent them. What should I do? I'm afraid of complications that may occur because of this such as eye or ear damage. Should I be changing his food, should I be using some kind of treatment for him? If yes then what kind of treatment? Thank you very much !

Could that be a factor since they are wild cats ?
Hi Doc! my dog has been scratching his chin a lot lately. I was wondering what you think it is and what can I do for home remedies? There's no redness or bleeding but he's been scratching a lot
So, a few months ago my Pug got an ear infection, which immediately got treated. About a couple of months later he started itching all over, he got bald spots all over, his body got covered with black crusty rashes and he had a couple of blisters between the toes on his front legs. I brought him to the vet, but they were having trouble identifying what was wrong with him until I offhandedly mentioned his ear infection a couple of months earlier. Then they took samples from his ears and they found an inner ear infection and a yeast infection. He got treatment, but a couple of weeks later it was better, but not gone. So, he had another round of treatment, stronger this time. A couple of weeks after that his ear infection was finally gone, but the yeast infection was still there, so another round of treatment we did. A couple of weeks after that it still wasn't gone, but I decided that it would just be a waste of time and money to do another round of treatment that obviously doesn't work. I've just been trying my best to treat it myself with Bepanthen, coconut oil and medicated baths. He likes to obsessively lick the blisters between his toes, so a couple of days ago I bought him some shoes. Right now, a few months after it started, it's better than ever, but still not completely gone. This is the first time we've faced this issue. He turned 6 years old a few days ago, but I got him when he was 3 years old, on December 5th 2017. He does have allergies, he's allergic to seemingly all types of bug bites and stings. It was first discovered after he got bitten by a jumping spider when his nose got him into trouble, and he got so sick that I honestly thought I was going to loose him. After the third time his nose got him into trouble and he got bitten, I started him on daily allergy medication(over a year ago), and he hasn't had an allergic reaction since. He's been on the same diet for almost 3 years, so it's got nothing to do with that, and he's never been in a kennel. He's just been home with me since the day I got him over 3 years ago. What should I do? Any suggestions on what more I can do to help him?
My dog itches but it's not from any parasites . She does have sensitive skin and sometimes she gets a sore or hotspot. I have this medicine that helps when she gets a flare up . Hi! I’m new to your channel- very cool! What do you recommend putting into their ears as both of my golden doodles have very itchy ears. The vet prescribe some medicine that they hated. Another expense and not necessary because it doesn’t work. Thank you
My Australian Cattle Dog Ari, has always had two problems that I’ve been concerned about since the day I rescued her at the age of 7 or 8 weeks old. The first is itchy ears, which causes her to scratch and shake her head *a lot.* As with every rescue, I immediately took her to my vet, who did a thorough exam, blood work, and even an ultrasound on her heart, which brings me to my second concern. (And the reason for the ultrasound.) From the night I rescued her, I noticed that Ari’s breathing was quite rapid. I’ve been around dogs and cats of all ages my entire life, and even more so when I got into animal rescue in 2004; yet I’d never seen any puppy (or dog) have such rapid breathing. After the exam and tests run on Ari all came back negative, my vet suggested we just wait and see if her breathing slows down. After a couple of months her breathing did go down to a normal level when she’s resting, or just hanging around the house. However, during play she seems to get worn out really quick, and her breathing again jumps up to a such a high level that it scares me. Ari is turning 5 on December 29, and her breathing while at play, or now even on one mile casual walks, is very rapid. When she was younger I use to take her on 3-4 mile walks, which I _thought_ would wear her out, but the second we’d get home, she’d be excitable around the cats again, like she had been resting all day. Now I can’t even take her on a mile walk because she gets so tired, literally just stopping many times during our walk, as well as her breathing being very rapid again. The last time I tried taking her on a casual walk I literally had to carry her home because she was so worn out. (And that was on an approx. 3/4 of a mile!) I’ve taken Ari to a few different vets, voicing my concerns about her ears *and* more importantly, her breathing and tiredness, yet no one can find any answers to those concerns. I’m not sure if this is related to anything, but she was born with only one eye. When I rescued her I had another dog, Jack, who I had for years, who was born with only one eye as well (even the same eye as Ari’s), but that never caused any medical problem for him. The only difference was that Ari’s eye slit was a little wider than Jacks; so when I had Ari spayed I had my vet suture her slit shut as to not cause any future problems that could occur from foreign material getting in her eye, which could cause an infection. Like I said, I don’t think it’s related, but wanted to let you know anyway. Also, Ari is my third ACD I’ve had, so I’m very familiar with the breed. She’s the only one who has rapid breathing, and unable to participate in long play or walks. Sorry for the long post, but hopefully you made it to the end. Can you offer me any advice, or give me some type of direction I should go, or things I should research, or ask my vet to look into?
My dog has severe food and environmental allergies. I have recently begun tumeric and quercetin. She has many spots of hair loss from scratching. Ive tried coconut oil topically but she likes the taste so just licks it off. Is there something more I can do to promote health skin and hair growth?
I have a Maltese male dog he’s about 10 or 11 years old he’s been scratching a lot for the past couple months and shaking his head a lot too. I tires some shampoo for the itching but he hasn’t stopped and I cleaned out his ear a bunch of stinky ear wax came out. He stopped shaking his head for about a month but now he’s back at it. Is there any I could do? Should I take him to the vet? Or is there a special lotion? Edit: he’s also hair on his belly a lot of it and on his face.
Can I use Ivomec as a topical treatment for mange? My 10 lb dog had demodex mange when I rescued him as a puppy. He took ivermectin orally for months. He’s 3 now, and his nose/lips/chin are still super itchy. Vet says mange is gone, however. We have tried everything, raw diet, special diet, changed soap, etc. he has vetricin medicated shampoo, and STILL itches til he cries on his face. I tried revolution, monthly, no change. I have a farm and use ivomec as a pour on and orally for my pigs, goats, horses, steer. Just thought maybe a “pour on” pup size just might work. I think it’s still mange, I have three other dogs who are not itchy, btw. I love your advice, your videos, everything. You are such a blessing ❤️ from East TX
Also in east tx an having the same issue. But my dogs issue is his legs an chewing his self till he bleeds. Did the ivermectin work?? I used happy Jack's an he started thriving an his hair grew back all the sores went away except his legs an I used coconut oil which made everything worse. Help!
I have just adopted a nearly 3 month old puppy. She had lots of fleas when I got her. I took her to my vet who bathed her with a tick flea shampoo. I comb her every day with a flea comb. But she itches a lot at times. My vet gave two anti fungal medicine to apply on her body. I want to use a natural thing because she’s a small puppy. I don’t see any fleas or ticks on her. Her coat is clean and I rub virgin coconut oil on her skin. Yes, she is eating little different food. I’m not very sure exactly what she was eating at the foster home. They said chicken broth and rice. I’ve just added a little bit of chicken and green beans to her food. What else can I do to stop the itching? I’m not wanting to put chemicals on her baby skin right now.
My golden stopped itching when I cut out chicken and carrots and only fed him the raw primal duck meat. And I use wondercide instead of anti-parasite drugs I had no idea they can get lice

I have a bulldog that has to have a shot every few weeks for allergies. It helped her at first because her hair was falling out in clumps and she had sores all over her. We also give her Zyrtec every day, but it always comes back. Any idea what we could use naturally on her? She eats Royal canine for bulldogs. I feel bad for her and would like her to feel better.

Hi Doc, love watching your videos. I have four dogs and 2 of them are always itchy, chewing their feet. This has been going on for years. we've ruled out seasonal because it's all the time. I've eliminated chicken and beef because when I tried them on it, the itching got worse. I'm thinking it's food, but what is it in the food?? right now they are on a kibble of high quality, no grain food. I also make a homemade stew of pork, turn ups, parsnips and carrots, turmeric and rosemary, this goes on top of their food. The itchy was going on before I started topping with the stew So something in the kibble?? I would love to be able to afford to feed them raw, but I just don't have the resources. They are 7 and 12 years old and they have not gotten any vaccinations in 6 years, I don't believe in over vaccinating. I use natural solutions for flees and ticks, I DO NOT use any of the revolution stuff the regular vets try to push on you. So all this being said, what can I do to give my poor babies some relief??? HELP PLEASE and thanks

My dog severely bites her ankle/wrist areas, and scratches her elbows, both until they bleed, and a lot of missing hair in those areas. She had been on both a brown rice+beef and a grain-free beef, I felt the symptoms were worse with the brown rice recipe, plus bad stools. I decided to try the barf diet, with mostly chicken during this trial phase, after the first 30 days, id say about 90% of her hair grew back and while she was still itchy, it didn't seem to be as bad, however since then her symptoms have seemed to come back and is once again losing hair/becoming more itchy, I am now on about day 80. Do you think she has a chicken allergy? That is my assumption, but wondering why I saw good results for the first 30 days, she has healthy stools, etc. I've read about a "detox" period where things seem to get worse before they get better when feeding raw. Wondering if you had any thoughts or had heard of any cases similar to this?

My lab just had a hematoma on her ear flap at the tip. She went to the vet and they did cytology to determine her ear had yeast, they sedated her and lanced the hematoma and put steroids into the space. she took ear drops for a week. and if that didn't work, they said she would need surgery, but you should try that first. It's been 10 days and the hematoma is gone and ear flap is flat now

I wish any of the many vets I've had over the years ever gave any of my dogs a thorough head-to-toe exam the way Dr. Jones did when the situations clearly dictate that it was indicated :-(
Thanks
jcamb72 I felt the same way I loved the video starting with the toes. I knew my dog wasn’t feeling well, but I thought he was chewing his paws because his teeth were hurting him! I had his nails cut less then 2 months ago. Poor Milo his paws were horrific. Hair wrapping around his nails and even a few were webbed together. Oh believe me I was on it immediately!! I love that Dr. his videos Are awesome, just saying

Thank you so much Duke my mixed terrier had raw meat was horrible the vet charged me a ridiculous amount for a shot so I put Monostat all over Duke and Sadie my mixed chihuahua 3 days later dukes hair is growing back and both aren't itching we have tried everything this works !!!!! Plus put honey in their water you are such a great Vet !!!! They both do this every year around May and June can't figure out why. We treat our yard and watch to see what it is but still don't know .I'm a retired Executive Chef they have a great diet but still puzzled .We have lots of neighborhood cats that frequent our yard it's horrible.
Hi thanks for all your expertise. We appreciate you!

Hello again Dr Jones
I gave Mina the parasite spot on. Update...5 days after giving her the spot on, she released a rather large and long worm (s?). Sorry, but was unable to identify the creature.
She started feeling better almost immediately and quickly put on weight. I think she still has an easily upset stomach but she is doing nicely! Thank you so much for your support and videos!
Blessings to you!
Hi! I’m new to your channel- very cool! What do you recommend putting into their ears as both of my golden doodles have very itchy ears. The vet prescribe some medicine that they hated. Another expense and not necessary because it doesn’t work. Thank you

Thank you very much for all the great information
Hi Dr. Jones, thank you for this video. It is a big help to watch this video. Very informative. Thank you so much....
3/4 of a mile!)
I’ve taken Ari to a few different vets, voicing my concerns about her ears *and* more importantly, her breathing and tiredness, yet no one can find any answers to those concerns.
Can you offer me any advice, or give me some type of direction I should go, or things I should research, or ask my vet to look into?
did you test and/or treat for wormss?
It sounds like her heart is not functioning at 100% and definitely like above mentioned give her a good dewormer anyway

Thanks-and yes, but generally needs to be orally. It is a treatment for generalized demodecosis, but needs to be given for 8-12 weeks

How often can I bathe my dog? Should only tick shampoo be used?

I have dogs with really bad allergies and I’ve noticed that switching up the Zyrtec with Benadryl really helps because I think their body builds up a tolerance. Good luck

I have a white lab almost two yrs old she's scratching all the time losing her hair on her sides and her back legs are almost hairless, she has redness on her skin and scabs from how much she's been scratching. I took her to the vet and they gave me antibiotics and anti scratching medication and shampoo for the second time now and after she finished the treatment she's still the same. I'm so scared she's not getting better and I don't know what to do...my suspicion is that we changed her diet to a vegan diet to the Natural Balance vegetarian formula almost a year now and ever since she just hasn't been the same, her hair started falling off, scratching etc.,I now feed her the same carnivore chicken, sweet potato and pumkin diet I had her on for her first year when she was a puppy. I bought some anti itching fish capsules at Amazon which she'll start taking tomorrow hopefully they work but I'm very scared that she hasn't been better for about six months now although she's been to two vets and she has taken alot of medication and she is still the same and it's looking worse...I don't know what to do doc, please help.

Hi, similar to other dogs. 1/3 quality protein ( ie turkey), 1/3 veggies, 1/3 sweet potatoe
Loving the videos.
Why does my dog keep getting the hiccups?
Pads on dogs feet. If they are dry and scaley should we treat them or leave them alone?
