Virgin Coconut oil is the best for a leave in remedy about 2 or 3 days apart. If your dog has redness or sores where the scratching occurs, I find that Aloe Vera (from the plant, not the tube) works very well for spot healing. It's also edible so you don't need to worry about licking that off either.
Edit: As a preventative measure, sea salt baths are great. Better yet, a swim in the ocean! It helps as an anti-inflammatory agent and it also helps the skin retain its moisture along with a long list of other benefits. I don't even rinse my dog off with fresh water after being in the ocean. I just wait until dry or towel dry if time is a factor, followed by a good brushing.
Edit again: Speaking of brushing, you should brush your dog everyday or multiple times a day if possible. It gets rid of old hair, dander and stimulates the follicles/skin to send blood flow to the area. Everyone knows that increased blood flow means an increase in healing speed.

I am new to your channel, but impressed by t he first video. May dog was tested and had 26 allergies. She has been on apaquel daily; a allergy meds specifically formulated for her for two years. She has done well, but i hate giving her chemicals. I even used Hills Derm formula dog food. I need a second job just to afford all this. I started feeding her a more natural diet and she has done well. Took her off the chemicals. She has just started with her ears and I will use your remedies for her. I just dont want to have her with all those chemicals in her body. She is 10 years old and healthy except for her allergies. I am excited to get started with her ears. Thanks a million.

Thank you Doc ! Growing up in the 60's our family's vet was an outstandingly kind , direct , and honest man . Never learned his first name (that's the way it was ) Dr. Burton , would show us how to do things to aid our animals if need be and also the many wild animals we found injured while running wild in the local hills , mountains and river valleys . We did rehabs for many hawks , owl's , and other avians along with many mammal species. Those who could not due to loss of limbs , sight or age , were kept by us until the end of life or put down at his recommendation. He charged only for the meds never his time for these wild animals . He would visit our house and advise on improvement's on the enclosures , diet's etc. In short he was above and beyond what the vets I've delt with are about these days $$$$$ it's offensive to be asked about your credit situation at a vet appointment ! Just saying , your a real gem ! Keep up the sharing of your sound advise 👍🙉🙈🙊❤️✌️

You are so right! Not only vets would do this, but pediatricians and family Dr's! They were like the old country Dr's, but not in the country.
Today's Dr's won't even see you unless you have your co-pay, and your bill is paid in full. Forget about finding a Dr when u really need one, if you don't have cash on the barrel head! Forget about it! 😮. It's so sad how so many things have changed, and I don't mean for the better. Go figure!

@@michellepope2829 exactly ! I feel like my parents must have , while I was growing up now! So many "normal" GOOD things are gone from us. I experienced, how when people went sue crazy , I was no longer allowed to ride on ranches I'd always been able to, due to the owners being afraid of being sued if some accident happened ! My parents had to sign waivers! But I suppose it's just life . I believe it's the loss of respect for what IS right and the exceptence of what is WRONG , as the norm . To me , we all know the difference but due to many factors, the examples, the mass media , those whom we admire like , moviestars, rock stars etc. As their moral examples became looser , we excepted them and , oh you've got better things to do then read my drivel , sorry for going on a tangent. This is wonderful for dog's skin. I used to use it everyday on my 3. Had to stop because they were turning each other into lollipops. They would sneak behind my back and lick it off of each other. Now instead of rubbing it all over them, because coconut oil is an excellent flea repellent too. This is mainly why I used it back then. Now I just use it in small amounts. Neem powder is great too for doggie icky skin. Fleas, ticks and mosquitoes hate the smell of it too. As do dogs too. But it works nice on their skin and keeps those pesky blood suckers away.

Excellent advice - your videos have probably saved so many pets from needlessly suffering and pet owners also suffering having to watch their pets suffer because they can't afford the expensive vet bills for things like allergies skin infections and itchy skin...I have heard that people will decide to put their dogs to sleep because they can't afford the ongoing vet bills...how very sad that today we live in a.world today where.vets and.animal regulatory agencies would know that and still horde and prevent knowledge to be given to alleviate the suffering and allow the pet owner to afford to keep their beloved pets.

I also had another dog that itched like crazy. Especially his feet. After researching I determined he had candida or yeast skin infection. My vet prescribed Keto-Hex dog shampoo. It helped. But I also found using unscented Epsom Salts was effective. I dissolved epsom salts to hot water, poured it up Into a spray bottle and saturated his feet several times a day. It worked. I have adopted what appears to be a toy Havanese. I was told he's about 10 years old, he has no teeth so I've been giving him liverwurst as part of his daily meal and canned food. He weighed 2 lbs when I first got him inn December, now he's up to 5.2 lbs (still thin but getting better!) About 2 months ago he began itching, I took him to the groomers and although he looked beautiful, he practically itched himself into oblivion. I put him into an Aveeno oatmeal bath and gently scrubbed off all the scabs, no blood and he seems much better. Can you please recommend a good canned food for him? Also (I'm going out to get some of the items you mentioned tomorrow), is there a special non allergic shampoo that can be used? I'm really concerned. I also have another rescue, no teeth as well, maltipoo, he was with a friend of mine but when I got him back he seems to have the cough you talk about. How can you distinguish between kennel cough and a heart murmur?

My Curly Girl, when she was with us, was so allergic with certain foods. Grains but the big one was chicken. When we kept the grains and chicken (which was hard because everything seems to have chicken in it one way or the other) away from her diet she never licked or itched. When we first got her she had patches that she had licked all the hair off. It took us about 6 months to figure out what her issues were but once we figured them out she was good. Sadly we lost her in Feb.from Kidney Disease.

She real goes to town on it. So my question is this. What did you feed your dog? I've had her on grain free Halo, Blue Buffalo.. and her hair falls out. Gets bad dandruff and itches worse. So I give her Hills Science Diet , Sensitive stomach and skin. She eats it no problem. Her hair doesn't fall out. But in the middle of the night. That back leg will go to town. Lol

@@jillpeacock4540 Hi Jill, sadly figuring out what a dog is allergic to can be a long process of elimination unless you can pay to have them tested. Look at your Science Diet to see if there is chicken in it, that MAY be the rest of the problem or it could be the time of year and certain grasses or pollen's. Is there a certain spot or body area that he itches more than the others. Our current dog gets a shot certain times of the year when the itching gets out of control. The shot seems to quiet the need for him to itch.

@@jillpeacock4540 Jill, We fed Curly a brand called Anamet that was suggested to us by a Livestock supply owner. He was very familiar with our problem with Curly and he suggested we start with the one that had a certain amount of chicken, then if we saw that the itching was not gone, we were to go to the next one and so on til her itching stopped. The chicken that is in Anamet is processed a different way so that it can be digested without causing an allergic reaction. If you have a Livestock Supply store in your area they may be familiar with it, if not I have found it on-line in other stores in our locale.

When mixing up medicines typically you want to use non-metal objects like stone or. Especially if you intend to use things like bentonite claymetal spoons will end up causing a reaction like electrically and makes it not as effective I apologize for my explanation being somewhat choppy I'm not a scientist but I do study herbs.

Lavender also calms anxiety. I had a big beautiful boi who was anxious and frightened by _everything._ I'd say "Max, would you like some spa oil?" I'd dab a little bit directly on his fur then pet him as he relaxed. He also loved for me to sing to him.
