    You are the second or third video I've seen on youtube that successfully remove the screen of surface products.
    Basically, 3 out of hundreds (or thousands?) of broken screens.
    I myself tried and broke the screens of two surfaces, a 4 pro & a 3. Hats off to you. Video liked.

      There are loads out there that do it. Heat machines can also do this with ease and you see the parts being sold on eBay and they are not new. I have cracked more than I care to admit but the book ones are much easier than the surface pros. I have also dropped a few, a few have been mid repair and slipped off the shoddy position I have left them and cracked. Tooling is key here, I wish I could afford the proper tools to do it properly. Thanks for your comment and stay safe..

    Glad I found this video, going to have to give it a try as Microsoft want £600 or so to replace my device. I would lose all my files that way too. I'm hoping it's just the tablet battery reaching EOL. At the price tags they charge it certainly doesn't justify how long they last.

      Best of luck with it. The nvme can be put in a caddy so you can get the data off it but you need your bitlocker recovery key if encrypted. For the book the battery is an easy swap out but you have to take the whole board out so please be careful and remember screen first, then antenna bar then disconnect what you can. The headphone socket is a real pain. Tweasers are helpful. Unscrew and remove board but be really careful not to break the power buttons.

    Great video. Very useful.
    I wonder if you can help advise. The touch screen on my Surface Book (1) suddenly stopped working and with it the pen. I have been through all the software fixes I can find online including booting into UEFI. In UEFI it was still not responding,
    From your experience with Surface Books, when and how would you decide the problem is the screen itself? Would you go to the extreme of doing a fresh install of Windows 10 first, as Microsoft are telling me to do? Can you throw any wisdom on this question? Cheers.

    • @microsoftsurfacegeekdetail5739
      @microsoftsurfacegeekdetail5739  2 года назад

      I would go into UEFI and if touch does not work in here then I would say its a hardware problem and if its a SB1 its probably not worth spending the money with MS to get it sorted. If you do not want to do a fresh build you could always create a build using a Win10 ISO and Rufus and select Win2go. The select in the UEFI to boot from USB and then load all the drivers from fresh and see if that works as well. What I have found in my type troubleshooting these things is lots of inconsistencies when it comes to touch but I must admit I do a clean install every time with the recovery image as I have one for each type.
      Let me know how you get on.

      @microsoftsurfacegeekdetail5739  2 года назад

      I cannot advise you on the potential dangers of a battery blowing up other than the risk is real and most likely your battery is expanding. You can get it replaced at your cost as you already had the replacement, the screens come off easy enough and the battery is not a hard part to swap once you get the board out. I have personally had many laptops with swollen batteries in readiness for repair or I have purchased then in this stage to repair. I have also popped the battery outer housing with a pin and then put electrical tape over a blob of glue to seal it whilst I wait for a replacement battery to arrive. These all continued to work right up until the battery was replaced. I would only recommend getting the battery repaired or dispose of the unit correctly unless you know what you are doing with these units.

      I have found that the touch issue is usually one of two things. Faulty screen, I get this with really cheap screens or the digiboards. On the book I would push to the screen being faulty though if you have tested the digiboard. What I always do is have a cracked but touch capable screen so I can test touch works on that to rule out the digiboard.
      I would also recommend going into the eufi and seeing if touch works there or create a linux boot disk with the right drivers to test.

      i have sb2, yes the keyboard is expensive, but don’t know what to do, i just try the usbc cable with the charger 102W and still nothing, when i plug it with ms charger light flashing and i hear a sound in the connector ( tick tick tick ) i don’t know what is the issue, it is possible to have a circuit in the connector? Or the issue on battery, ps the battery work fine last time i use it!

    • @microsoftsurfacegeekdetail5739
      @microsoftsurfacegeekdetail5739  2 года назад

      The power button is built into the outer housing which you can get on eBay. The glass screen has nothing to do with the power button. If the power button is not turning the computer on but works the actual power button is on the motherboard. If this has broken off it’s a tricky repair. You can repair the switch but it’s not easy and it may be easier to replace the board.

      Gloomy Strawberries hi the antennas do Wi-fi only and have no bearing on touch. If the tablet is in front of you I am talking about the cables that come out of the screen and the loop back in to a small board in the screen. If you over fold or scratch or cut these then touch will not work. Turn the screen upside down and if you are looking at the screen the small board is on the bottom right and has a silver plate you would have had to remove. These cables control touch
