I came here to find out about the "glue" to fix my screen. Now I learnt of "cellphone" tape and much more. GOOD video. Keep it up! You have a good voice and are easy to follow.

I crunched the cable along the back left side of the LCD but I can't find anywhere what it does. I'm assuming just touch since the rest of the device still works flawlessly.

So based on the link in the description, you would reccomend using 4mm wide tape for this? Replacing the battery in a Surface Book I have received so need to get some Tesa tape or similar. Cheers

I know this is an old video but I would love if you could help me out, I opened my surface book and there's a cable not at the bottom but at the top, holding the screen which makes it much harder to connect the bottom flat cables, is this a cable or something holding the screen? I can't tell, have you come accross this thing?

The video skips the part where you mounted the pcb from the old screen to the new one. Could you tell me what adhesive you used to mount? The original adhesive/tape is silver and almost glittery looking. I'm just not sure if I need conducive or non-conductive adhesive.
    Thanks in advance! 😊

Kacie Dearman sorry it is non conductive. Just some double sided Tesa tape or red tape would be fine for it. The tesa tape holds a bit stronger then the red tape

I have replaced the battery for my surface book1 display screen. I can see it is getting powered. When I turn it on I can see the red and white light next to the camera but my Windows 10 OS is not coming up? I did shatter the display a little. I am trying to figure out why OS is not coming up? I am about to order a display screen but before I do that I want to know if there is anything else possibly be the issue for OS to not come up. Any suggestion?

Great video. To confirm, is that 2mm tape you are using?

Does the screen have the information/part number on the back? How about the battery?

i have a question. If touchscreen stopped working after update windows is possible to change touch small board to another one to fix that ? Because reinstall drivers and windows not help.

Unless you dropped or something that you aware of that maybe broke the touchscreen. I would lean on Microsoft for a warranty if it was related to the update. Or at least if they cannot prove that it wasn't. I am a repair tech and I was just checking this video out because is a model I have not done before and these are not easy repairs. Also the Digitizer/Screen assembly is pretty expensive around 200 for the part alone. Anyways, obviously you posted a couple months ago, so hopefully you've got it cleared up. If not. I recommend replacement if it is not noticeably damaged or water damaged. Good luck and take care.

wouldn't a heated exacto knife be better than using a metal pry to seperate the screen ?

He used a heat gun to warm up and loosen it then pry it. Any specialised tool would be better, but financially cost more and be used for just one purpose.
A heat gun is risky because you could overheat certain components (potentially), but you can use it for more than just this. You can prank your wife by making it look like a blow dryer >.> although I really don't recommend that haha.

You who came here looking for tips on how to open your surface book, don't open it yourself, dont run the risk of breaking your screen, lol... give it to someone to do the job, if he breaks it, he pays, lol...
