This summer I got myself my first kindle during Prime Days. After an embarrassing amount of deliberation, I decided on the Basic because since 2020, I'd read exclusively on my phone and didn't know for sure if I'd like the e-ink experience OR the bigger size coming from my small phone screen. I wanted a small, starter kindle just to get my feet wet and WOW. I have absolutely loved my basic and it's transformed my reading life. I can't even imagine how a few months ago, I was on the fence about getting a kindle at all because now it's my prized possession.............but. 👀With Black Friday coming up, I keep finding my eyes wandering towards that Paperwhite...with it's flush screen and waterproofing....at this point, I think a light breeze could blow me over the edge and add a Paperwhite to my cart. 😆

To answer your question at the end, I have a Paperwhite gen 10, a very old kindle keyboard (gen 3 I think), a kindle fire hdx7 that my husband bought me 10 years ago and I've just ordered a fire hd8 that'll be here in February (wow takes forever to ship!) My favorite and most used varies between the fire hdx7 and the Paperwhite. I know the lcd screen on the fire is bad for my eyes but I love the color screen, the faster scrolling thru my library, and I keep the web browser open to stardew valley wiki page and Story of Seasons guides (I'm a grandma gamer)

I am always fascinated to hear what people think of the different features of ereaders. I started in the Nook system and I have had several Nooks and always liked them. However B&N went through some times when their readers were not very well made so I splurged on the Voyage. I LOVED it. If my Voyage had not died, I don't think I would have ever bought anything else. However, it did die so I tried a Paperwhite. I am not happy without buttons. I got the Oasis last year on Black Friday. I like it OK but I hate having to rotate the reader every time I change hands. I bought the Nook 7.8 but it doesn't have the flush screen. I am hoping that the new Nook will go on sale for Black Friday this year. Thanks for your insights. I enjoyed this video.
Thank you for your thoughtful response. It surprised me how much I was bothered by the Nook Glowlight screen not being flush. Have you thought about looking for an aftermarket (is that what you call it?) Voyage? A few friends on here have found them on unclaimed baggage sites, and I got mine from Ebay. Just a thought . . .
Great video! I just order the paper white signature 💜. Trying to decide whether to keep the oasis I got in 2019. I do love it for bedtime reading on my side. Can you please link the clear paper white case with the textured ridges on the side? Thanks and keep up the great videos!

@@fitdaniellereads Go on - twist my arm 😉 I re-outfitted my daughter's old PW and am making sure I will use it enough, and I do plan on upgrading, especially after seeing your videos. I would love the Oasis (I need those buttons!), but since it appears they may not be making them anymore (here's hoping they are just restocking), I think the SE might be calling my name...
I am enjoying the scribe. It’s a little large but I love being able to handwrite my book notes or journal on it. I traded in my oasis for the scribe. Kind of wish I would have kept the oasis because of the size. This is a side note: Your hair is gorgeous
You're so kind. Thank you. And I agree with everything that you said. I LOVE the Scribe, but would not love it as an only Kindle. Like you said, it's just too big . . . but as a combo e-reader and e-writing tablet, it's fantastic.

I am a HUGE fan of screen protectors -- I have them on all of my phones and breakable tablets, but I don't have them on any of my kindles. I don't know if other people do, but the only time I've ever had an issue with a Kindle getting damaged was about 13 years ago, I had one in a suitcase and it smashed into the heel of a shoe, and that damaged the screen.

I actually like the black frame of the paper white and am glad it’s not green. It blends in with the black and white of the pages and isn’t distracting. That blue on the entry level kindle would drive me nuts. I feel like it looks cheap. The black frame is more sleek looking on the paper white.

I love my oasis! I gifted my paper white back in 2020 . I have a kindle fire 7 and the 8 plus which I love the 7 is horrible on battery.But I use my oasis all the time . Though at times miss my paper white . Thank you for your review though😊❤

I'm becoming slowly a fan and addict to ereaders)) cause I cannot grab books from library( I got 7inch pocketbook era list year, which I just love, especially the color of the frame, so luxurious and premium. I take it with me all the time. And now I'm thinking to get 10.3 bigger reader-note taker, just for home or for long reading sessions... maybe that's crazy, to have more than 1 ereader, glad that I'm not one...
You are DEFINITELY not the only one!! We all work hard and do a LOT in our lives, time to read well with a comfortable set-up is something that we can give to ourselves. I think you should do it, and read in good health, my friend. 🤗
I just bought an oasis for black friday. A lot of people say it's not worth its normal price but what do you think about $179 for the add supported version? I think thats fair.
That's a FANTASTIC price!! I really love the Oasis -- it's such a nice screen, and the little niceties that make it different from the Paperwhite just make reading on it a little bit better.
I got my kindle voyage right after you posted about it, as a test if I really wanted a kindle. At $35 it was a great entry into the Kindle-verse. :) But as I've been reading on it daily since August, I've noticed that the charge lasts about a week, and will die randomly when dipping below 20%. I don't want to get rid of it, as I love the size of it in my hand. I'm really thinking of getting a Paperwhite for black friday, or I might just wait it out a bit. I'll tell you that I never expected to love reading on a kindle so much! I thought it was "real books" only - but now I realize I struggle to sit down and get lost in a physical book. Somehow the kindle is magic!

Thanks!! I ended up getting a Paperwhite for black friday - I'm so happy I did. There are some features I didn't realize I was missing on the Voyage (like purchasing directly from the device and using accessibility to have the kindle read to me). I am happy to have and keep the two.
Also, funnily enough... I'm reading a 600+ page physical book right now. I was past the 400th page and got so frustrated with getting distracted for 2 hours (even though I was alone and it was quiet) that I took the plunge and got it on the kindle too - I flew through the same about in half an hour! I can't believe I took so long getting a kindle!

Agreed! I had spent 3 weeks reading a 600+ book (Iron Flame) earlier this week. After 420 physical pages, I broke down and got the kindle copy. I finished the last 200 pages in 2 days that way!
Where were you able to pick up your voyage from? I’ve been looking and cannot find one anywhere except super pricey on eBay 😒
The original Oasis was definitely the spiritual successor to the Voyage. Especially since it had a 6in screen as well.

I bought a basic kindle refurbished a few years back and ive been wanting to upgrade for a while so i asked my boyfriend for a paperwhite signature edition for Christmas because i couldnt justify getting a scribe (i mostly want the pen feature but absolutely do not want one so large, plus the price).
I cant wait to be able to read in bed with the warm light! I also can't wait not to have a dedicated kindle cable 😂
My basic kindle will be thrown in my purse for reading out and about.

I read on an oasis. I also have a voyage and a paper white. The oasis is probably my favorite for the buttons.

Yes!! I LOVE the buttons!! It's hard to explain, but clicking the buttons just lets me remained immersed in the book. I don't know why swiping doesn't feel as natural to me, but it doesn't. I know you can just "tap" the screen to turn the page, but it like buttons. 😎
My friend’s mother loves to read, but has macular degeneration. Is there a recommended Kindle for her to read on?
I am FAR from an expert on this, but I'd say to look at the Paperwhite because it has the whitest background (so it will give great contrast between the background and the writing) or the Scribe because it's a great device for reading large text on. I hope this helps. Best of luck to your friend's mom!

The color is Sage green.
This is the Signature Edition which is actually Agave Green. The "base model" Paperwhite
used to come in a Sage Green, but now the 16GB Paperwhite and the Paperwhite Signature Edition (32 GB) are called Agave Green. But for the record, I think it's ALL the same color. 😂
I have the older addition kindle ppw4. I personally prefer books which is the reason I don't like reading on the ppw4. Takes about 4 clicks to get through a page 😂. I really want a scribe I've been debating for a few days now. I really just want the whole page on one screen if that makes sense😅.
I really LOVE the Scribe!! Maybe wait a few weeks and see what they do for Black Friday. Amazon usually has really (!!) great deals on Kindles. BTW . . . can you BELIEVE that it's almost Thanksgiving?!!

I've been trying to decide between both the Oasis and the Scribe. The deal breaker, which has a better battery life? The Scribe is only $234 refurbished right now, and the Oasis is $204😁
For me, the Scribe has the better battery life. If the size of the Scribe isn't a disqualifying factor, the Scribe really is a lovely device.

I swear...after seeing the Kindle Voyage again... I really want to get it back from my sister.... but, I did give it to her. So, I just have to long for it. It was perfect condition, with a decent battery...With the red leather origami flip cover.

@@fitdaniellereads At one point I was in the same situation as you... I had a PW 3, Voyage, Oasis, 2 DXs, Kindle Keyboard and Kindle Touch.
Sold the Oasis, and traded in the PW 3 (for the 20% Off) to get the latest PW, i believe (which is the one i use).
I still have the DXs...they're kinda worthless, except to trade-in. Gave the Voyage to my sis,... I believe i sold the keyboard for pretty cheap, and the Touch died (button stopped working completely).... I actually don't remember what I did with it.
The Voyage is the only one I miss....since it was so unique. I'd read on it just for the heck of it.

If you buy the Paperwhite, buy the Kindle for kids version, it’s cheaper. My favorite is the Oasis.
The kids' versions are a GREAT option, but they aren't cheaper. They come ad-free with the Kids+ and some other perks, but they're about $20 more than if you'd bought just the Kindle that's included in the bundle.

YESSS!!! I don't have that one. Mine are 6.7 inches, but I want to see if there's really a difference. I can't justify an "upgrade" for that size difference, but if they come out with a new color, I'm on it!! 😂
Wow you have a lot of cash tied up in kindled. You can definitely tell you live them. I've never used a Kindle or any other e reader for that matter.
I do have a LOT of e-readers. 😂 I say "it's for content on my channel!!", but it's really just because I love them. Reading a book is just SO easy and convenient when you have it on an e-reader.

Most of my videos don't have affiliate links, but what's is the problem with them? Content creators spend a LOT of time creating content, and affiliate (or Amazon Associate links, which is what mine actually are) are a way to offset some of the costs of creating content.
