As a senior citizen my favorite feature is the font feature. Most print in books has gotten harder to read as I age. If I have gotten a book with large print it is more cumbersome to deal with. Also, when I read without my glasses in bed I can enlarge the font where I can read the words comfortably. Young people, if your parents or grandparents love to read but their eyesight is not what it used to be, I encourage you to to get them to borrow someone’s Kindle or buy one and try it out. It really helps!
I own a Paperwhite Signature and I just bought a Basic. For me the Basic wins hands down due to size. My Paperwhite just lives by my bed for the warm light. Otherwise it’s the Basic.
I don't know if you've figured it out by now, but in order to turn off the screen, you need to hold the off button for a few seconds, then you can choose to have it off/blank. I did this too with my basic kindle before I had my ads removed :)
One of my favorite things about the kindle is being able to read books from the public library. Also if you pinch or slide two fingers open on the screen it resizes the font smaller/larger.
It's funny because in french every object have a gender (I know it doesn't make sens). In french we would say: "un kindle" and it translate to: "he kindle".
What you have is adverts on your kindle. Those screen savers are for suggested books. You can actually have that removed. They normally charge $20 dollars, but if you contact them and ask really nicely, chances are really good they will remove it for free. The Fire devices are not kindles. They were called kindle when they first came out, but those are really just android tablets that are heavily connected to the Amazon system. They no longer call them kindle fire. Yes, ebooks generally are cheaper than printed books, but what you are really are getting with a kindle is the ease and convenience that comes with a kindle. From being able to carry multiple books, dictionary, voiceview, Not having to drive over to a books store or library to get your books, not having to store those physical books in your house, being able to read under any lighting situations, etc. I recommend you carefully read through the user's guide that is built into the kindle. It should explain everything you need to know about it. Also, if you look in the FONT folder of your kindle when connected to your computer, you will find a file that will explain how to sideload your own fonts that you can use in your books. The advantage of keeping your kindle connected with wifi, at least when at home, is you can take advantage of whyspersync. So what book you are reading on your kindle will sync with the app and you can switch between the two devices.
I just got the paper white signature one and I am enjoying it. One of the reasons why I got it is because of space. I read a lot of mangas, hence why I got one with a lot of space. I’m an avid reader, so it isn’t much of a surprise. Another reason is because when I’m out and about, most books I can’t bring it or have the space for it. So this also helps reduce space for me. I used my iPad and my phone for my books but for novels, the kindle is more convenient and reduces eyestrain for me, and I can charge my other electronics over night. I also don’t have to worry about my kindle being charged as frequently as my other electronics.
George or Jeff, I like those names for your kindle. As for which one I plan to get, I really like the basic, but I like reading in the tub and pool, so might not be the best option for me. I have the oasis already, but I can’t read on it long, it’s to hard for me to hold. I plan to sell it once I transfer my books to my new kindle. I had the 2018 kindle paper white, it was so comfortable to hold and read on for hours, I wish I stuck with it and never traded it in for the oasis.😢
If you want the "normal" lock screens you need to buy the kindle without ads :) If you buy the option with ads you'll get the book recs when it's locked
Thanks for watching! Comment below your thoughts on a Kindle! ⬇️
I have a Kindle. I will read some books on Kindle, but if it's one I want to keep forever I buy the book. I still like real books over Kindle.

Warm light is something I enjoy immensely, and I thought I would never use it.

Lol those names are too good! The basic might not be the best for you if you like reading near water! Maybe the paperwhite
I name all my electronics that I use a lot. My car is Betty, Betty white. My kitchen aid mixer is Bob the mixer. My kindle is Kindie
That’s so funny! I love that!

Thank you so much for sharing!
Spice rating? That must be like the scoville scale for hot sauce. Thanks for the Kindle review!
The option for the book cover are on that Aa then Tap more and you’ll find the option
Thank you! I had no idea haha! I was confused why random book covers were popping up on the screen lol!
you can contact customer service and get those book ads removed!
Thank you!
Pretty sure in order to have the option for book covers as your lock screen you have to pay to remove the ads. That's what happened to my Paperwhite.
Thank you for letting me know!
It works with paper white only no?
I tried the pop socket but removed it because it makes the Kindle too thick to fit in my pocket.
Kindle jenner
