Sorry, I was talking through my ass there for a second 😂 They’re actually was a 40th anniversary vinyl edition for Number Of The Beast, called Number Of The Beast Over Hammersmith. I think what I was trying to say is I was surprised there was nothing for the Piece Of Mind 40th anniversary.
I actually own that 40th anniversary edition of THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST. I’m iffy about the POWERSLAVE vinyl coming out, because I’m unsure if the zoetrope gimmick is going to affect the sound quality. Anyways, this is inspiring me to make my own ranking video. I still have three gaps (CD-wise) in the discography I need to fill before I do that, though.
Somewhere In TIme is the album that got me into Iron Maiden back in 86. And I have been into them ever since. Prior to 1986 I had no interest in Maiden.
Been looking forward to this one for a long time! Glad to see x factor up there a little bit. Usually I'll see it ranked lower but it's a great album for sure. Thanks Darcy! My first maiden album was somewhere in time and still my #1
Love a Maiden ranking. Killer job Darcy. Revelations and To Tame A Land are absolute bangers that don't get talked about enough for me. Great stuff mate
My favorite band of all time, so it was really cool to hear your thought on their discography. I wouldn't even be able to do a ranking of their albums myself, so hats off to you for that as well :)
My ranking for the Iron Maiden albums would be🤘 17. Virtual XI 1998 16. The X Factor 1995 15. Senjutsu 2021 14. The Book Of Souls 2015 13. The Final Frontier 2010 12. A Matter Of Life And Death 2006 11. Dance Of Death 2003 10. No Prayer For The Dying 1990 9. Fear Of The Dark 1992 8. Brave New World 2000 7. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son 1988 6. Somewhere In Time 1986 5. Iron Maiden 1980 4. The Number Of The Beast 1982 3. Powerslave 1984 2. Piece Of Mind 1983 1. Killers 1981
Great ranking! I'm glad you didn't put No Prayer For the Dying last.😂 It seems like everyone online always disses that album. Since that was my first Iron Maiden album, it will always hold a special place in my heart.
These day No Prayer For The Dying is one of Iron Maiden albums I play most, I feel like it’s aged well. Thanks for taking the time out to hang out with me 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
I’m always up for an Iron Maiden ranking as they are my favorite band. 1. Somewhere In Time 2. Powerslave 3. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 4. Piece of Mind 5. Number of the Beast 6. Killers 7. Iron Maiden 8. A Matter of life and Death 9. No Prayer For The Dying 10. Dance of Death 11. Brave New World 12. The X-Factor 13. Senjutsu 14. Fear of The Dark 15. The Book of Souls 16. The Final Frontier 17. Virtual XI
Hey Darcy. Great video and ranking. I came in on Maiden with The Number Of The Beast. My top 3 are 1) Somewhere In Time 2) The Number Of The Beast 3) Piece Of Mind Cheers
1 Powerslave 2 Iron Maiden 3 Somewhere in Time 4 Piece of Mind 5 Brave New World 6 Seventh Son 7 Number of the Beast 8 Killers 9 Dance of Death 10 No Prayer 11 Senjitsu 12 Book of Souls 13 Virtual XI 14 Fear of the Dark 15 X Factor 16 A Matter of Life & Death 17 Final Frontier
Great ranking video. RIP Paul Dianno It’s sad when our favourite musicians get old and start passing away. Atleast we will always have the music they created.
Excellent ranking video Darcy. I have been hooked on Purgatory and Prowler lately. Paul was an amazing singer. My favorite Maiden album? Hard to pick, but Killers, Powerslave, Fear Of The Dark, Number Of The Beast, Piece Of Mind and Seventh Son are on top of my list 🤘.
Always good to hear your thoughts on the Maiden albums Darcy. And yeah you're spot on when you say no one can be wrong with the ranking, everyone has their own favourites. Senjutsu definitely has room to move up, it's just that it's got a lot of strong competition. Yeah I don't know why they didn't do any anniversary album for Killers of Piece of mind, would be a nice collectors set. If you've not heard it check out Murder One which Paul did in the early 90s, a hidden gem album. Also if you've not heard it Blaze does a really good live version of angel and the gambler on a recent live album, it's more a rock n roll version.
My Ranking 1. Somewhere In Time 2. 7th Son Of A 7th Son 3. Powerslave 4. Piece Of Mind 5. KILLERS 6. Number Of The Beast 7. No Prayer For The Dying 8. Iron Maiden 9. Fear Of The Dark 10. Senjutsu 11. Dance Of Death 12. Brave New World 13. Book Of Souls 14. Final Frontier 15. A Matter Of Life And Death 16. Virtual XI 17. X-Factor
Great list. I would have a few changes namely No Prayer moving down considerably and Book Of Souls, Final Frontier moving up the list. Interesting that Number Of The Beast seems to slip down so many peoples lists over the years, mine included. 10 years ago it would have had the top spot and I thought it would never be removed but time tells a different story. The Blaze albums are just not for me and whilst there are the odd highlight they are pretty poor in my opinion. I never feel a desire to listen to them and only have them really for the sake of completeness.
Great ranking! My top 5 would be: 1. Killers 2. Piece Of Mind 3. Number Of The Beast 4. Debut 5. Somewhere In Time PS I haven’t heard anything else about any more U.D.O. vinyl reissues, but apparently Testament are doing some vinyl reissues.
Hey Darcy Nice update of your ranking of Iron Maiden albums. Here is my ranking and it looks like yours with some differences ofcourse. 17. The X Factor 16. Virtual XI 15. The Final Frontier 14. Fear of the Dark 13. Senjutzu 12. Dance of Death 11. No Prayer for the Dying 10. A Matter of Life and Death 9. Brave New World 8. Book of Souls 7. Powerslave 6. Killers 5. Iron Maiden 4. Somewhere in Time 3. Seventh Som of a Seventh Son 2. Piece of Mind 1. The Number of the Beast
Nice one, Darcy. Here's mine, first 7 Maiden albums will always be the holy grail of Metal for me. 01. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son 02. Somewhere In Time 03. Piece Of Mind 04. Powerslave 05. Number Of The Beast 06. Killers 07. Iron Maiden 08. Fear Of The Dark 09. Dance Of Death 10. Brave New World 11. A Matter Of Life And Death 12. Book Of Souls 13. No Prayer For The Dying 14. Senjutsu 15. The Final Frontier 16. The X Factor 17. Virtual XI
1. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son (there is no weak moment here) 2. Iron Maiden 3. Piece Of Mind 4. Somewhere In Time 5. Number Of The Beast (so low, because there are two songs not much worse than the brilliant rest) 6. Powerslave 7. Killers 8. Fear Of The Dark 9. The Final Frontier 10. Brave New World 11. No Prayer For The Dying 12. A Matter Of Live And Death 13. Dance Of Death 14. X-Factor 15. Book Of Souls 16. Senjutsu 17. Virtual XI Greetings from Poland. In general, all their albums from the 80s are masterpieces.
First time I saw Maiden live was in late 1980 when they opened for Kiss on their Unmasked tour in Rotterdam with Paul on vocals. Saw them again in 82, 84, 92 and 2008. 1. Powerslave 2. Number Of The Beast 3. Killers 4. Piece Of Mind 5. Iron Maiden 6. A Matter Of Life And Death 7. Dance Of Death 8. X Factor 9. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son 10. Somewhere In Time
Fear of the dark and Number of the beast I’d both put about 4 or 5 spots higher. NOTB just keeps slipping down peoples lists over the years and I have absolutely no idea why. Not only their best imo one of the greatest metal albums ever. Each to their own👍🏻
I think it's not because we don't still love it. But NOTB for me is part of my DNA. I don't revisit it nearly as much as their other albums, only because I know every measure of every song by heart.
notb is great but imo so many other albums have better material. idk where exactly it would sit in my ranking but it’s probably not even top 10 for me tbh.
@@JCStorm76 fair enough i think it’s a good album so i can get it being high! but yeah. i like most of the 80s material, no prayer & all 00s albums more than notb. the songs on notb aren’t as interesting (they’re still good tho don’t get me wrong)
Every day is a good day to talk Maiden! Of my favorite bands, Maiden is probably the hardest to rank. The catalog is so good. You and I have the same #1 and our top 5 is pretty close. Saw them a couple of weeks ago on the Future Padt tour and they are still so good live. I hope they keep going forever 🤘
I like your list, as always. I’m one of the few that loves fear of the dark. It has some good stuff and Bruce uses different singing styles that keep it interesting.
I like all the albums but I hardly ever go back to the Blaze albums, I hope they have one more album in them. It will be so sad to see them retire but I know it's coming. Good to see No Prayer isn't too low. I'm not sure how I'd rank everything nowadays.
I made to no. 16 (Final Frontier), when it came out I had it the same way as you on the opening track, Satellite 15. I thought it was really bad and I just wanted to skip it, but since then I have really gotten into it a lot and today I think its a perfect start to the album and I really enjoy listening to it as it sets the mood for the album. So maybe my suggestion is to give it a chance.
Yes it can be a bit time consuming, but in a good way lol. You just have to stay organized & be consistent, people like consistency. They don’t want to hear why you haven’t made a video in a month 😂 Cheers my friend
Fantastic Iron Maiden ranking Darcy! I still have a couple of their albums to listen to, including the Blaze ones. I think my favourites would be Powerslave, Number of the beast and Somewhere in time, my favourite from their new period is definitely A matter of life and death! 😁🤘🏻🤘🏻
It’s fantastic. I’ve been a Maiden fan since summer ‘84 (right before Powerslave was released) and they’ve been my fav band ever since. That said, if their career began with BNW in ‘00, they’d still be my fav band - that’s how strong the reunion material has been, imo.
Great ranking Darcy. Piece of mind is also my favourite, and it was the first one I bought on release day, 10 years old. I try to pick up everything they reissue and was really looking forward to a 40th anniversary of Piece Of Mind. I was quite disappointed when they chose to only release a Anniversary Art Book. It’s a nice book, don’t get me wrong, but I’m one of those fans who wants a deluxe version of a vinyl or cd or boxset of both. More happy with the 40th anniversary release of Powerslave. Take care!🤘
I never cared for the alternate logo and am happy they went back to to old logo. For me the first 6 albums will always be the best. Great re-ranking Darcy! 🤘🤘
I've discovered Iron Maiden with the Number Of The Beast and the Piece of Mind album back in 1983. But my first album that I bought was when Powerslave was first released in 1984. I pretty much love most of their albums and never really tried to rank them myself. But I honestly think that Somewhere In Time would probably be my #1 album. followed very closely by Piece Of Mind and Number Of The Beast and Powerslave. Verygood ranking video Darcy. Take care brother.🍻🤘
1.Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son 2. Iron Maiden 3. Number Of The Beast 4. Powerslave 5. Fear Of The Dark 6. No Prayer For The Dying 7. Piece Of Mind 8. Killers 9. Somewhere In Time 10. Dance Of Death 11. Brave New World 12. A Matter Of Live And Death 13. X-factor 14. Final Frontier 15. Book Of Souls 16. Senjutsu 17. Virtual XI My first new release was No prayer. I was 12 in 1990. And before that i own Number of the beast. =) greetings from Sweden
For me it would personally be like this: 1. Somewhere In Time 2. Brave New World 3. Iron Maiden 4. Piece Of Mind 5. Senjutsu 6. Powerslave 7. Number Of The Beast 8. Book Of Souls 9. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son 10. The Final Frontier 11. Virtual XI 12. Killers 13. A Matter Of Life And Death 14. Fear Of The Dark 15. Dance Of Death 16. The X Factor 17. No Prayer For The Dying
Mine list is definitely a little different: 1. Somewhere in Time 2. Powerslave 3. Brave New World 4. Iron Maiden 5. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 6. Piece of Mind 7. The Number of the Beast 8. Dance of Death 9. Killers 10. A Matter of Life and Death 11. Senjitsu 12. Fear of the Dark 13. The X Factor 14. The Book of Souls 15. No Prayer for the Dying 16. The Final Frontier 17. Virtual XI
I like how you update these lists Darcy. Myself I'm probably predictable in having Bailey albums at the bottom with the latter albums also near the bottom. I don't like the long song lengths on the latter stuff which I find has a lot of repetition and also the production I feel isn't as good as the Birch produced albums. Highly enjoyable as always!! 👿🤘
Very nice, and very thoughtfully put together... I am really looking forward to the upcoming Tour in 2025. I missed Maiden on the Future Past Tour in 2024, so I am very happy that I got my tickets for 2025. Anyway, here is my list: 17. Virtual XI 16. The Final Frontier 15. The X-Factor 14. No Prayer for the Dying 13. Senjutzu 12. A Matter of Life and Death 11. Fear of the Dark 10. Book of Souls 9. Dance of Death 8. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 7. Brave New World 6. Iron Maiden 5. Somewhere in Time 4. Killers 3. Powerslave 2. Number of the Beast 1. Piece of Mind
My opinion: 1. Somewhere in Time 2. The Book of Souls 3. Powerslave 4. Brave New World 5. Senjutsu 6. The Number of the Beast 7. Iron Maiden 8. Dance of Death 9. Killers 10. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 11. A Matter of Life and Death 12. Piece of Mind 13. The X Factor 14. The Final Frontier 15. Virtual XI 16. No Prayer For the Dying 17. Fear of the Dark
My first album was Brave New World, which came out when I was 19. My friend was hyped because Bruce was back and he got me into them. It was nice because I had the entire back catalog to enjoy immediately. Powerslave is my favorite!
I’ve had a rediscovery of love for Final Frontier. Not a fan of the cover, but the music is very good. The Talisman and Mother of Mercy are absolute standouts
The b-sides from the X-Factor (I Live My Way, Justice of the Peace, Judgement Day) are the best songs written for that album. If they were included on the album and 2AM, The Aftermath, Fortunes of War, and The Unbeliever were dropped, I think the album would be much more popular and would definitely be in my top ten.
Got into maiden around killers time and as bruce was leaving samson so was getting Number of the beast fresh, saw them on Piece of Mind and love all the first 7 albums, sort of went onto other bands for a while but love the post 2000 albums and for my sins really like The Final Frontier and A matter of life ans Death. Great ranking btw.
Great rankings what's you're next ranking my friend friend has an extra ticket for maiden concert here in New Jersey never saw them cheers powerslave is my 1
Thank you Richard 🤘 That’s a good question lol. Grave Digger & Anvil are basically ready to go, I just need to record them. I also might do a ranking of all the Iron Maiden live albums. I think my Helloween ranking needs an update too.
I pick out my 5 Iron Maiden Records because Everybody has his own look at Maiden I think 💖 5.) Senjitsu 4.) Powerslave 3.) Somewhere in Time 2.) Iron Maiden 1.) The Number of the Beast (my First ever ...) 🤭 Greetings from Munich, Germany and up the Irons!
Hi Darcy! Greetings from the Czech Republic! My Top is no joke! 😉My first new record was No Prayer For The Dying and that's why those experiences influenced my ranking. But the other half often changes. 01. Fear Of The Dark 02. The X Factor 03. No Prayer For The Dying 04. Somewhere In Time 05. Piece Of Mind 06. Killers 07. Powerslave 08. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son 09. The Number Of The Beast 10. Iron Maiden 11. Brave New World 12. Senjutsu 13. Dance Of Death 14. The Final Frontier 15. A Matter Of Life And Death 16. The Book Of Souls 17. Virtual XI
They did the reissue of Beast over Hammersmith tour packaged with Number of the Beast on vinyl with Total Eclipse replacing Gangland for the 40th as well.
Enjoyed your ranking. I think my overall fave is Somewhere in time, but really love ROB era maiden and senjitsu, matter of life and death… I have been to Saskatoon. Bought amazing honey there.
Yes they do have great honey, I usually slip a little bit into my green tea, it also helps with allergies if you have them. Great choice for your #1. Thanks for taking the time to hang out with me 🤘 Cheers from south of saskat😊😊n
1. Powerslave 2. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 3. Somewhere in Time 4. The Number of the Beast 5. Iron Maiden 6. Killers 7. Piece of Mind 8. Brave New World 9. No Prayer for the Dying 10. Fear of the Dark 11. A Matter of Life & Death 12. Final Frontier 13. The Book of Souls 14. Senjutsu 15. Dance of Death 16. The X Factor 17. Virtual X I love that middle 80s Iron Maiden. Lots of European progressive bands owe a lot to the boys. Great catalog overall. Up the Irons!!
So glad to see The X Factor a bit higher, as it is usually ranked at the bottom of the list. I understand that some people may not like Blaze's voice as much as Bruce or Paul, but I think this album is pretty solid and Bailey's voice suits the gloomy atmopsphere of this LP. For me No prayer for the dying is also a better album than Fear of the dark. I suppose my ranking would be very similar to yours. Cheers.
I was in from before the first lp . Im pretty old lol😂.. i love everything but fear of the dark and the next 2 blaze lps . Sorry blaze i saw you with wolfsbane you were amazing . As usial great video .
Well for me seventh son is still my no 1 followed by powerslave killers number of the beast and iron maiden for a top 5 thought I would update you on my annihilator picks ups so far got waking the fury and schizo deluxe once I'm done I'll pretty much have all their stuff barring king of the kill and metal thanks as always darcy it's always a pleasure to watch one of your videos!
RIP Paul. Absolutely loved his performance on the first 2 records. Killers is very high for me as well. 7th son and SIT are my 1 and 1A, always have been. Although the drop off after the 80’s material is pretty significant, I still have it all, spin it all and for the most part, love it all. I do not enjoy the blaze material, but sign of the cross is an absolutely top tier maiden track. Thanks for sharing brother. Up the irons brother.👊👊
1. Somewhere in Time 2. X-Factor 3. No Prayer for the Dying 4. Brave New World 5. Seventh Son 6. Piece of Mind 7. A Matter of Life & Death 8. Senjutsu 9. The Final Frontier 10. Powerslave 11. Iron Maiden 12. Book of Souls 13. Fear of the Dark 14. The Number of the Beast 15. Dance of Death 16. Virtual 11 17. Killers Appreciate the ranking video.
@darcysixstringsninelives3493 No problem, I love Iron Maiden, They legit don't have a bad album. I may have Killers in last, But that's a good album. Imo X-Factor is super underrated, The drums & bass on that specific album have a Zeppelin jam style feel at certain moments, Don't get me wrong it doesn't sound anything like a Zeppelin tune. No Prayer is also very underrated. The only reason Number of the Beast is so low, Imo it's half killer/half filler.
I came in in 1985 when I was 11 when I bought a cassette copy Killers at an American Duty Free store on the American Army Base in Gelsenkirchen WEST Germany(yes the Berlin wall was still up!). Then I got TNotB and the first Album about 8 months later. Somewhere In Time was my first New Release(and my favorite). Any of the first Seven albums could be #1 for me, but my two least favorite are Fear of the Dark and The X Factor. I actually DON'T own copies of those two records! Nice list Darcy, Cheers!
Great ranking I would say number of the best is my number 1 but it’s so hard to chose and I think the X Factor is sort of underrated. It is way too long, but I still think it’s a pretty solid record
Iron Maiden was my introduction to Heavy Metal. A friend of mine gifted me Number of the Beast for my 12th birthday and I have been rockin' ever since.
It's interesting that the 6 albums that I consider all masterpieces , which are Number of the Beast to 7th Son , are at the top of your list. After that, I'd say the first two aren't quite there but still have something. Honestly, I felt that they really lost a big part of their sound when they added the third guitar. The songwriting seems to be rethreads of stuff they already did and the arrangements aren't nearly as inspired. I lost interest. But Piece of Mind, Powerslave and 7th Son still hold up as heads and heels over anything else.
Great video after bin listening and seeing them live again recently I've been wanting to chime in with my ranking 17. No Prayer for the Dying 16. Virtual X1 15. The Final Frontier 14. Fear of the Dark 13. The X Factor 12. Dance of Death 11. Senjutsu 10. Iron Maiden 9. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 8. Number of the Beast 7. Book of Souls 6. Brave New World 5. Killers 4. A Matter of Life and Death 3. Piece of Mind 2. Somewhere in Time 1. Powerslave
NOTB was my introduction to Maiden. What an incredible run of albums up to and including Seventh Son. After that , I confess I only like a few tracks on each album. The Dianno albums are great. I really like his vocals but they would have limited the direction Maiden wanted to go. I also enjoy Blayze Bailey's singing too. I keep meaning to check out his new album. Fave album.... SSOASS 2) Powerslave 3) NOTB 4) SIT 5) POM
(top 5 are flawless albums) 1- somewhere in time 2- seventh son of a seventh son 3- powerslave 4- piece of mind 5- killers 6- the x-factor 7- the number of the beast 8- iron maiden 9- brave new world 10- dance of death 11- fear of the dark 12- virtual xi 13- no prayer for the dying 14- the book of souls 15- senjutsu 16- a matter of life and death 17- the final frontier
Last time i grinded em out when senjutsu released i think this is how i vibed. From least to most 17. The Final Frontier 16. Fear Of The Dark 15. Virtual XI 14. X Factor 13. Book Of Souls 12. No Prayer For The Dying 11. A Matter Of Life And Death 10. Senjutsu 09. The Number Of The Beast 08. Killers 07. Brave New World 06. Seventh Son Of The Seventh Son 05. Powerslave 04. Dance Of Death 03. Somewhere In Time 02. Piece Of Mind 01. Iron Maiden Not what id argue is musically or compositionally better. Just what was vibing
Love the updated ranking. Here's mine: 1. Somewhere in Time 2. Piece of Mind 3. Powerslave 4. Seventh Son 5. Number of the Beast 6. Killers 7. Brave New World 8. The New Frontier 9. A Matter of Life & Death 10. Fear of the Dark 11. No Prayer for the Dying 12. Iron Maiden 13. Dance of Death 14. The Book of Souls 15. The X Factor 16. Senjutsu 17. Virtual XI
This one was definitely overdue, I’ve had plenty of time with Senjutsu, just needed to get my ass moving lol. Thanks for watching and thanks for sharing your ranking 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
What would you say is worse Virtual XI or Demolition? By the way I live Empire of the Clouds. One of my favorite Iron Maiden songs. But the rest of the album is just OK.
i will say i could never really get into piece of mind so i don’t get the hype around it, but maiden have no bad albums so it being your #1 is so valid.🤘great ranking! my top maiden albums are 1. somewhere in time 2. 7th son 3. powerslave 4. self title 5. dance of death
@@isaswinter I think that’s great that you have one of the newer albums in your Top 5. Only 21 years old, so yeah it’s newer right ha ha. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
Pretty good ranking. My personal list is 17 - x factor 16 - final frontier 15 - virtual XI 14 - a matter of life and death 13 - book of souls 12 - fear of the Dark 11 - dance of death 10 - senjutsu 9 - brave new world 8 - seventh Son of a Seventh Son 7 - iron maiden 6 - killers 5 - no prayer for the dying 4 - piece of mind 3 - number of the beast 2 - powerslave 1 - somewhere in Time
Piece of Mind is when I first was drawn in at 12 when it was their new one & is still my overall fave with Powerslave, Seventh Son,Killers & the first one in no particular order being my top 5. When I think lists, I usually stick with top 5 of any given thing. Of course, I've bought them all ,the classics more than I can even remember anymore. During the 90's, I was the Google guy when it came to anything rock n-roll & Metal related. Shoot, music & movies related whether it was my thing or not. Then Google came & my services were no longer needed. Actually , currently listening to the 40th anniversary vinyl of Powerslave ,which sounds fantastic. I wasn't really expecting that, but like you were saying, Maiden is for me too one of very few bands I have more Media & collectibles of than most other bands. For example, This makes 3 different copies of Powerslave on record, 2 cd versions, the tape & The first 10 years box set with all the singles. The funny thing is I'm still just as obsessive as ever even though I've spent the last year fighting cancer & might not even make it a year or 2 more. Just the thought of no more music is one of the worst things I think of when I think of not surviving it. If you're gonna die (if you're gonna die).....
Most importantly here is your health, I’m sending only positive metal vibes your way! I wish more bands had cool sh*t like Iron Maiden to collected ha ha. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, I hope you stop by again 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Love your video. I think Dance of Death is an amazing IM album and rank it at 7. Almost every band has one come back album in them and Brave New World is awesome. Few bands can sustain the come back momentum. Dance of Death showed fans that the IM come back was here to stay. The album features an impressive range of songs from the hard head banging Montsegur to the acoustic Journeyman. There are standard Maiden rockers like Wildest Dreams, Rainmaker and Gates of Tomorrow as well as the epic Paschendale. The title track tells the story of a man getting caught up with the undead, similar to the song The Number of the Beast. Maiden fans bash the cover art, but I never assumed that the things on the cover were human. I thought they were demonic undead poorly trying to pass for human (described in the Dance of Death song) with Eddie in the middle inviting the viewer to enter the Dance. Just my thoughts.
Senjutsu and even Book of souls both grew on me in the last couple of years. I think besides BNW these are the best „new“ Maiden albums since their reunion. 👍🏻 My personal top three: 3. Powerslave, 2. Seventh Son 1. Somewhere in Time. 🤘🏻 Cheers mate. 🍻
Maiden is great, as they sing about history, literature, war, philosophy, and religion, and obscure flix (eagles dare). I don’t always agree with their take on stuff, but my God do they explore interesting topics. Top 3 for me: Powerslave, Piece, and beast
For me Seventh Son is the best from the classic era. I don't listen to Maiden much these days, but they were my gateway band into metal so i will always respect them. The reason i've selected Seventh Son as the best is because it's a consistent album. This maybe a controversial opinion but i think most of their other albums lacked consistency when compared with other bands of the same era (Metallica, Slayer) but with Seventh Son they nailed it, every track is a classic.
@@1980extremeG You’re right! Not one weak track on that album, it’s always ranked high with me! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🤘 Cheers from Planet6Strings
All iron maiden are masterpieces if you ask me, even the Bayley albums, they are masterpieces and X factor is the best 90s maiden album, maiden have no bad albums
Really enjoyed this iron maiden ranking. Although i would've put number of the beast at number one for me personally. Hallowed be thy name and children of the damned and of course the title track is top tier maiden.
Honestly I’m just splitting hairs with some of these, I don’t even know if you could get a single hair in between some of these lol. Hope all is good with you Dustin 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
They did some comic book thing for Piece of Mind's 40th, but nothing musical unfortunately
I was hoping they would have done something similar to TNOTB anniversary and released something like Piece of Dortmund for Piece of Minds 40th.
@ That would’ve been awesome, what a great idea!
My first Maiden album was Somewhere in Time still my favorite cover for a metal album.
Mine too. Best album IMO.
Somewhere In TIme is the album that got me into Iron Maiden back in 86. And I have been into them ever since. Prior to 1986 I had no interest in Maiden.
Yup, their best ever album cover followed by Powerslave imo.
Am I the only one who thinks A Matter of Life and Death is a goddamn masterpiece?
@@ironfarmer9332
Deffo that album gets alot of play in my car👍🇮🇪
It's one of my most favorite Maiden albums. Definitely in my top 10 ten. Love that album and the album cover also.🤘
Not a fan of that one as a whole... Songs are kinda hit & miss
Yes.
I thought it was not as good as dance of death.
Been looking forward to this one for a long time! Glad to see x factor up there a little bit. Usually I'll see it ranked lower but it's a great album for sure. Thanks Darcy! My first maiden album was somewhere in time and still my #1
Another great updated ranking! Senjitsu has grown on me as well Dance of Death! Great video!
Love a Maiden ranking. Killer job Darcy. Revelations and To Tame A Land are absolute bangers that don't get talked about enough for me. Great stuff mate
Revelations is a real classic off a great album
My favorite band of all time, so it was really cool to hear your thought on their discography. I wouldn't even be able to do a ranking of their albums myself, so hats off to you for that as well :)
Great choice for your favourite band of all time, just legendary! Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers from Canada

I wish they would re-record Virtual XI, and the X-Factor with Bruce on vocals, although he can't hit the high notes like he used to.
@@kiimbel1877 He can still hit them for the most part, but he's not a kid anymore
Great ranking! I'm glad you didn't put No Prayer For the Dying last.😂
It seems like everyone online always disses that album.
Hey darcy,
Great video.
I started a Maiden kick a few days ago and just before I watched this video ,I was spinning Legacy as well!

Great ranking video.
RIP Paul Dianno
It’s sad when our favourite musicians get old and start passing away.
Salut Darcy. Nice vidéo.
My favorite Iron Maiden is the 1st album.
2/The number of the beast
3/No prayer for the dying
4/ Killers
5/The Book of souls
My Ranking
1. Somewhere In Time
2. 7th Son Of A 7th Son
3. Powerslave
4. Piece Of Mind
5. KILLERS
6. Number Of The Beast
7. No Prayer For The Dying
8. Iron Maiden
9. Fear Of The Dark
10. Senjutsu
11. Dance Of Death
12. Brave New World
13. Book Of Souls
14. Final Frontier
15. A Matter Of Life And Death
16. Virtual XI
17. X-Factor
Good vid!!!
Here's my ranking:
5. Somewhere in Time
4. Seventh Son
3. Killers
2. Piece of Mind
1. Powerslave
Greetings from Brazil! Awesome job! 🤘💀🤘
Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated! A big hello from Canada 🤘 Keep the metal flowing in Brazil :))
First two are the best two for me.
Great ranking! My top 5 would be:
1. Killers
2. Piece Of Mind
3. Number Of The Beast
4. Debut
5. Somewhere In Time
PS I haven’t heard anything else about any more U.D.O. vinyl reissues, but apparently Testament are doing some vinyl reissues.
Killers! Their only CD I own.

Greetings from Poland. In general, all their albums from the 80s are masterpieces.
Yeah 80s Maiden is pure gold! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, much appreciated 🤘 Cheers from Canada
First time I saw Maiden live was in late 1980 when they opened for Kiss on their Unmasked tour in Rotterdam with Paul on vocals. Saw them again in 82, 84, 92 and 2008.
1. Powerslave
2. Number Of The Beast

5. Iron Maiden
6. A Matter Of Life And Death
7. Dance Of Death
8. X Factor
9. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
@@isaswinter Not even in your top 10? Really? It’s easy top 3 for me. Maybe even number one.
@@JCStorm76 fair enough i think it’s a good album so i can get it being high! but yeah. i like most of the 80s material, no prayer & all 00s albums more than notb. the songs on notb aren’t as interesting (they’re still good tho don’t get me wrong)
@@isaswinter Wow ok
One of the most fun things about Iron Maiden is everyone has such different album rankings
You’re absolutely right! I actually find that fascinating. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Nice Vid Darcey...
I've been think of starting a ranking cahnnel myself, but it seems like it would be VEEEEEERY time consuming.
Enjoyed that. My favourite will always be Somewhere in Time. Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it 🤘 Great choice for your #1, love that album!
Man, I love The Final Frontier. It’s their most progressive and experimental album. I hate that people $#!+ on it.
It’s fantastic. I’ve been a Maiden fan since summer ‘84 (right before Powerslave was released) and they’ve been my fav band ever since.
That said, if their career began with BNW in ‘00, they’d still be my fav band - that’s how strong the reunion material has been, imo.
The Final Frontier is great, just bought a Frontier t-shirt, to go with my other 16 😂😂
Great ranking Darcy. Take care!🤘
I was disappointed too & yes I am one of those fans, I’ll buy it all lol. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Nik
I never cared for the alternate logo and am happy they went back to to old logo. For me the first 6 albums will always be the best. Great re-ranking Darcy! 🤘🤘
THE GREATEST IRON MAIDEN ALBUM IS THEIR FIRST ALBUM AND THE GREATEST IRON MAIDEN SONG IS “REMEMBER TOMORROW”
😄👍🤘🤘
Mine is "Killers", with "Wrathchild" being the top track.
you left your "cap lock" on.
I bought Number of the Beast August 1982 in the Bronx. I saw Maiden play it live 6 weeks later at Madison Square Garden October 1982

Love Virtual XI so high up 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You know, after hearing half that album live, I have an even greater appreciation for SENJUTSU.

Great list! Offcourse I would shuffle a few here and there, but aggree with most of it.
Nice to see somebody else who loves Prodigal Son!
My first album was Brave New World, which came out when I was 19. My friend was hyped because Bruce was back and he got me into them. It was nice because I had the entire back catalog to enjoy immediately. Powerslave is my favorite!
Can’t wait to watch this one! Up the irons Darcy!
Thanks brother 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
I’ve had a rediscovery of love for Final Frontier. Not a fan of the cover, but the music is very good. The Talisman and Mother of Mercy are absolute standouts
Can’t wait to watch this because I really dug some of your Judas Priest song selections on heavy metallurgy
@@jamesgwarrior1981 That’s awesome, thank you 🤘 Stay Heavy Duty ~ Darcy
Saw em last night. They sounded freaking flawless
@@GeorgeBeckham-u8e I’m so jealous! Did you grab a Tour T-shirt? I bet they aren’t giving those away lol. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada

I love that middle 80s Iron Maiden.
Cheers.
The X Factor is my no.1 Maiden album
I was in from before the first lp . Im pretty old lol😂.. i love everything but fear of the dark and the next 2 blaze lps . Sorry blaze i saw you with wolfsbane you were amazing .

RIP Paul. Absolutely loved his performance on the first 2 records. Killers is very high for me as well. 7th son and SIT are my 1 and 1A, always have been. Although the drop off after the 80’s material is pretty significant, I still have it all, spin it all and for the most part, love it all. @darcysixstringsninelives3493
No problem,
I love Iron Maiden,
They legit don't have a bad album.
I may have Killers in last,
But that's a good album.
Imo X-Factor is super underrated,
The drums & bass on that specific album have a Zeppelin jam style feel at certain moments,
Don't get me wrong it doesn't sound anything like a Zeppelin tune.
No Prayer is also very underrated.
The only reason Number of the Beast is so low,
Imo it's half killer/half filler.
That’s awesome! I love hearing stories like that. Thanks for taking time out to watch and comment, always appreciated 🤘 Up The Irons
My favorite Iron Maiden album is Fear of the Dark. However I do enjoy many of their other songs from all their other albums.
Great video after bin listening and seeing them live again recently I've been wanting to chime in with my ranking

Always love Iron Maiden rankings. We have the same top six. I have Number of the Beast #1. Killers #2 and Piece of Mind #3.
Another fantastic ranking all 17 cd of the best Iron maiden cd by the amazing Darcy six strings👍🏻🇬🇧👍🏻🎸🎸

Killer video Darcy. My top 5 would be
Number of the Beast
7th son
Piece of mind
Brave new world
Powerslave
Cheers brother
Big fan of Piece of Mind also, probably my favorite but “Quest for Fire” a ridiculous stinker 😢
What would you say is worse Virtual XI or Demolition? By the way I live Empire of the Clouds. One of my favorite Iron Maiden songs. But the rest of the album is just OK.
I would say Demolition is far worse, Judas Priest at its lowest point! Thanks for watching 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
i will say i could never really get into piece of mind so i don’t get the hype around it, but maiden have no bad albums so it being your #1 is so valid.🤘great ranking! my top maiden albums are
1. somewhere in time
2. 7th son
3. powerslave
4. self title
5. dance of death
@@isaswinter I think that’s great that you have one of the newer albums in your Top 5. Only 21 years old, so yeah it’s newer right ha ha. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
It’s overrated. Don’t get the hype either. It’s still good don’t get me wrong but they have better albums. It’s the weakest 80s album for me
@ yeah i really like the later albums! they all kind of line up after #5 or 6 in terms of favorites
Pretty good ranking. My personal list is
17 - x factor
16 - final frontier
15 - virtual XI
14 - a matter of life and death
13 - book of souls
12 - fear of the Dark
11 - dance of death
10 - senjutsu
9 - brave new world
8 - seventh Son of a Seventh Son
7 - iron maiden
6 - killers
5 - no prayer for the dying
4 - piece of mind
3 - number of the beast
2 - powerslave
1 - somewhere in Time
Piece of Mind is when I first was drawn in at 12 when it was their new one & is still my overall fave with Powerslave, Seventh Son,Killers & the first one in no particular order being my top 5.
Thanks, I appreciate that & I will.
My top 5 Maiden albums
1. Piece of mind
2. Powerslave
3. Fist Album
4. Number of the Beast
5. Killers
Good list Darcy 👌
@@christianhaynes1954 Thank you very much 🤘 Cheers Christian
@darcysixstringsninelives3493 love maiden brother 🤘
Top 3 albums in no particular order....Powerslave.... Killers....Number of the Beast
my number one is 7th Son of a 7th Son. I feel that is the ultimate maiden album. The rest very similar to yours. Rock on
A tall task my friend! Nice job!
Thank you Double J 🤘 Have a great week :))
Senjutsu and even Book of souls both grew on me in the last couple of years. I think besides BNW these are the best „new“ Maiden albums since their reunion. 👍🏻
My personal top three: 3. Powerslave, 2. Seventh Son 1. Somewhere in Time. 🤘🏻
Cheers mate. 🍻
Maiden is great, as they sing about history, literature, war, philosophy, and religion, and obscure flix (eagles dare). I don’t always agree with their take on stuff, but my God do they explore interesting topics. Top 3 for me: Powerslave, Piece, and beast
As a heads up Tokyo blade new album in January another great nwobhm band.
