Yup, I'm upgrading from a Flip3 to the five and looking forward to the moderately big changes. Doesn't seem as urgent to upgrade from the four, and tbf if I didn't know about the Flip 5 improvements, I could have kept the three and not known the difference. Thanks Jaimie.
I skipped the Fold 4 and 5 this year and pre-ordered the Tab S9 WiFi. Will trade in my Tab S8. I'm still not convinced by the Samsung Flip. I actually think the OPPO Flip looks prettier, especially the purple. And I like the matte texture.
I have a Fold 4, and have mixed feelings. Mine broke already and was (with very good service from Samsung) repaired under warranty. The phone is extremely good, the software experience is perfect, but the battery is poor, and I really am scared about durability. For the high price (in Europe there is really not much of trade ins and the likes - my one year old Fold 4 as worth €380 when trading in for a Fold 5(!)) I want to/ have to enjoy this phone for a few years at least, and I'm really worried if it will last that long... But only time will tell.
I think the comparison to the s23 ultra is kind of what I had in my mind coming into this year, knowing that they probably will redesign it next year and it will be more like the competition, but I think this is a sweet spot and I'm going to try and roll with it. Preordered. Hoping the 8 Gen 2. Will be as solid for this phone as it was for the 23 ultra.
@@YankeesGiantsactually I opted for the pixel 7 pro instead of the s23 ultra. I'm a little bit of a Google fan boy but absolutely love the note series. I preordered the s23 ultra but canceled before it arrived in. Kind of regretted it but really have enjoyed my seven pro. I got a teacher discount, the $50 off, and the free upgrade on storage and all together seemed reasonable too. Too finance it over 2 years through Samsung with the $7 per month insurance. I'll probably cancel because I've never broken a phone. My plan will be to sell my first generation Microsoft duo, the slim pen too, the charging thing, my 7 pro and put some of the costs.
@Kickenwing13 I have the s23 ultra and took a 2 year plan with Affirm to pay it off traded my s22 plus for it I have the watch 5 and buds pro 2 so all Samsung. @@YankeesGiants I think especially for this iteration. You probably chose right. I think the s23 ultra is one of those phones, like the Note 20 ultra that people seem to hang on to. I'm trading my pixel buds in as well. Going to sell them on the private market and hope I get something out of them. They included them for 50 bucks so I figure if they sell my pixel buds for 50 bucks I upgraded or at least got something that was more compatible. We'll see how long I stay Samsung. Love them but people like me get tired of it compared to Google. Tensor two just runs hot and isn't that efficient. I really haven't had a ton of issues with this phone. It's been smooth and I like it
Here's an interesting question, If the fold 5 has Same camera setup as the s23 ultra and removed either the inner or outer display selfi camera while being 250 doller more expensive , Well it be a reasonable choice , IMO I would pay extra money to have the same setup as the s23 ulra camera and Have a longer inner display .
UE are the best reviewer I've seen to date, and words can't explain enough how I love your content, for a student who makes a lot of research, reading and consuming content, would you recommend a fold 5 over the tab s9ultra if money is not a problem
Well they’re two completely different products. One doesn’t replace the other, nor compliments the other. They both do similar things though, so you’d have to pick your form factor. I prefer a squared fold that can be a phone in my pocket
Great video! i agree with everything said. i just love what i see coming from Samsung. it's just an evolution of the foldables. Apple can keep a design for 10 yrs and no one blinks an eye. keep up the great work Samsung.
Last time I bought a regular phone (S22 Ultra) because foldables were too new, there were too many reports of screens going caput after a short period of use. I plan to get a new phone in about 6 months and am seriously considering one of the Samsung foldables. I pre-ordered the Watch 6 Classic with a trade in of my Watch4 because I miss my bezel. My watch is getting beat up without that protection. I also don't think much of the touch bezel for navigation.
I am having a hard time finding a reason to trade in my watch 5 pro for the 6 classic, the 6 has inferior materials, a smaller battery and only a small bump in performance.
I have had z fold 3 and z fold 4 and the physical improvements are the real improvements. Including z fold 5. The 3 was too narrow~ so the 4 increased the width. The 4 was too thick ~so the 5 reduced the hinge thickness I ordered the 5. Why? In my case, the 4 had dust In the hinge now that i couldn't fully open to the completely flat position. That itself calls for upgrade instead repairing it. I physically tested the holding feelings of the 5. I could do one hand typing perfectly, really nice grip. So i don't want too wide. Financially, i have $1000 trade-in, two promote codes ($50 each), and the significant discount during the ordering process that Samsung bundle and price deduction (eg. 25w power plug is just $15,not mention $200 price deduction of the class watch 47mm) I am hoping the chip power gives better life, the UI feature improvement justified this upgrade
Used to upgrade Android devices twice a year till the Note 9 got the 20U and now the s23U . With Apple I had the 4 got the 5s " best design " held on up to the x and now the 13 pro max.
The Fold is not totally refined yet. Looking from the side, the screen seems protruding out, looking like screen protector. smart samsung using that extra thick screen for protection from scratches and also to close the gap when folded. It doesnt fold fully tho. Crease is still visible. Camera still underperform.
I agree that the Fold 5 is making the right decisions, at least the improvements are all positive. I may prefer a slightly wider outer display as the device got thinner, and get rid of the under-display camera with a corner punch hole. But that's the only gripes. Water-resistant, spen, dex; I would only switch if other companies can offer these 3 features too. I don't think the upgrade worth $630 though, I will wait for later deals.
It's useless to buy a devuce that you can't even use pro apps with... Ipad has Final Cut and Logic Pro... why should consumers but the Galaxy tab when it not really offers anything else that Apple already offers... productivity wise.. you can only do so much as compared to Ipad... Problem with samsung is they don't have Native Apps... they keep on promising to bring such apps but it's barely coming out... they don't even have a working DAW
I pre-ordered both through my carrier. I have a Fold 4 that I've only had since the end of March. It was an insurance replacement for my Fold 3 that stress cracks started appearing along the crease after having it since launch. I won't get the Flip 5 as I don't see a need for it. The Fold 5 on the other hand: get new warranty on a new device, new insurance and Samsung Care+ on it...but pay basically the same through my carrier for a the Fold 5 that I have been paying for my 3 and 4. I dunno. Tough decision.

I was looking forward to the Galaxy Fold 5 and a new updated design with a wider front display, but it became apparent a few months ago that Samsung has decided to keep costs down and forsake a major upgrade. That is understandable with Samsung smartphone sales having a torrid time. Save the good stuff when people have money to spend. So no upgrade from the Fold 4 to 5 and instead went for the Pixel Fold and that has been a revelation in usability coming from the Galaxy Fold. I can see why not one other OEM has copied Samsung's take with that narrow display and people that upgrade every 3-5 years would be better wait for the Galaxy Fold 6 and giving the 5 a miss. Not that the Fold 5 is bad, the opposite, but having a usable front display is a game-changer and where the market will be in a year or so. As for the Flip 5, despite the larger front display and slightly better battery life, upgrading from the Flip 4 outside the US would be a poor value (higher price Flip 5 and lower trade-ins versus the US).
@TheHardknok what Samsung BS? Its either you buy/upgrade or you don't. No one here is forcing you to do squat. Oh I see, you're just here to bithch for no apparent reason. 😂
I just went to the Verizon store last night to lock in my pre order/trade in. Going from my current iPhone 12 Pro to a flip 5 for free (bc they’re giving $1000 trade in)
*_Z FOLD is Missing these..._* ▪︎ 25w Wireless charging the⌚️ but it would be better if it had Type C charging port, so we don't have to carry around this SLOW charger 👎🏻 ▪︎ We should be able to use the 25w Wireless Charger of Watch on the Phone too ♨️ ▪︎ 85w Wire Charging 🔌 ▪︎ 5000mAh 🔋 if slimmer other Folds have it & have faster charging ▪︎ Camera 📷 should be better than same years Ultra Phone, not last year's Fold phone 😏 CREASE, Wider Front Screen & Inserted S Pen 🤷🏻♂️
The zfold5 is not worth upgrading. I chose to get the zflip5 instead. The larger screen is a big incentive. And the upgrade from a Zflip 4 to 5 means I only pay $100 for the upgrade. SOLD!
I'm considering the $1000 trade in value for my s21 ultra through t- mobile for the z fold 5 since my s21 is now approaching 3 years old and battery life has slip a little.
It doesnt which one because the screen crease will buble up after few months or 13 months and samsung wont do shit about it and blame you for misuage. Take it from an experjence z fold 3 onwee here. None of these YTber talks about it, they are only pushing sale so next year samsung will send them free phone.
I can't believe that you still can't use the S-Pen on the front screen of the same-looking Z Fold 5. I can see why people's responses to Samsung's Unpacked have been like, meh. 💯🤭
To be able to use the s pen on the front screen would require another s pen because the outer screen is solid glass whereas the inner screen is folding glass. As you've seen already they've made a special s pen to use on the inner screens of foldables because an s pen for example from s23 ultra cannot be used on inner screen of foldables, it will damage the screen and as the outer screen of foldables is similar to s23 ultra and other Samsung phones you'd need a different s pen, so I'm predicting that in time they'll create an s pen you can use on the inner screen of foldables as well as the outer screen without damaging either, and that's why I think at this time they still don't have s pen support for the outer screen. You don’t have to agree, they're just my thoughts. Have a great day
I would want a zfold5 but im too scared that the inner screen will break from the hinge area on its own like my zfold2 did and make the phone an expensive paperweight pretty much
I had the zfold4 and traded it in for a S23Ultra. THe zfold is too thick and heavy and the screen is sub par compared to the S23Ultra. Add to that a mediocre upgrade to the Zfold5 and it's a NO for me. The Zflip5 is much more interesting and is the one I preordered.
First battery drain test have been released, looks like a 30 minute increase from last year's Z Fold 4's overall time (9 hours 18 minutes versus 9 hours 48 minutes, keep in mind this is a controlled, wifi connection test, so expect about 3-4 hours off with real world usage). Not really seeing the point to get the Z Fold 5 over the Fold 4, even if you're coming from a previous model, unless you want to spend more and get a new hinge.
Literally at 4.75 at the 5 mile point. Galaxy watches are always behind. This is not in comparison to another watch.. I run in a marked road. We know where each mile point is.
@@Pocketnow thats pretty insane. was thinking about leaving apple watch/iphone for fold 5 and watch 6 classic but i still feel like smartwatches still arent anywhere near apple as far as tracking is concerned this just makes my feelings justified i suppose
I'm sorry but with samsung refusing to make the outer screen on the fold usable (referring to the keyboard) that's a deal breaker. I had a z zold 3 and z flip 3. I liked my flip more than the fold but I went back to the s series. The battery on the flip was trash and the fold I couldn't use the outer screen to type. And after 5 years we still can't have an inner s pen?? Really?? Plus a lot of people were having inner screen issues 6 months after getting them. Oh and don't count on samsung to back you on their factory warranties on these inner screens. They'll blame it on the customer and refuse to pay up. Also.... Why did they reduce the battery size on the watch 6 classic vs the watch 5 Pro? This has been a Samsung trend the entire line. The galaxy watch (first in this line) still has the longer lasting battery and watch 5 Pro comes in at a close second. The watch 4 was the worst. I got 6 days with the first one, 4 days with the watch 5 Pro and barely a day with the watch 4 with the same exact usage. It matters because the more you have to charge a electronic device, the shorter the overall lifespan therefore they force us to upgrade. Give us a reason to upgrade. I am glad they brought back the bezel but they lowered the battery size.
The Tab S9 series is able to charge the pen by outer induction. No need to tuck it in. The fold is just too compact and too complex for there to be enough space in the current state of tech
Thanks for sharing your insights from the trip to Seoul, Jaime. Call me crazy but I’m one of those who took advantage of the (over) trade deals with my iPhone 14PM to get the Fold 5. As a long time iPhone user I have long been intrigued by the foldables and I figured, hey ZF5 might be the best reiteration now esp with the new flat folding mechanism. I look forward to the world of multitasking and media. I do need to go through a process of transition first though. Loads to learn. In the meantime, back to waiting for the delivery.
I pre-ordered the Flip 5 and cancelled my order 5 days later. Having seen some early reviews, i decided it just wasn't an upgrade I'd be interested in. Same battery, same 'fast charge' and basically the same camera. The Fold was just too expensive and too iterative for me so I'll find out and see what Oneplus can do with their Open (?) which does sound exciting and everything the new Z series aren't. Up your game, Samsung.

Really great video. I agree, they are refined products and I'm finally going to try the flip 5. Excited to do so. Keep up the great work!
I really trust and appreciate your views and takes of tech!
Nice vid Jaime. Always an interesting watch. You might have convinced me to upgrade 4 to 5....
The sheer convenience of the Flip just out-ways any other issues.
Great video, great points. Top notch video 🙏
So did you trade in your s23 ultra and if so what did you trade it in for
@@YankeesGiantsactually I opted for the pixel 7 pro instead of the s23 ultra.
I was thinking of the Pixel but there always seems to be something not right with them people having different issues so I stayed with what I know.
It's been smooth and I like it
@@Kickenwing13 you are right people loved the 20 ultra and Samsung did right with the s23 ultra
That flip 5 is impressive
Please make a comparison of watch 6 classic and watch 4 classic.
Skip the z fold 5 ..not enough changes to upgrade . I still have the z fold 3 and yes the screen is a bit narrower but I'm cool with that .
Excellent video. My favorite channel. 😊
The Fold 5 looks great and is very aplealing to me. The conundrum thiugh is whether to trade the exceptional S23 Ultra for it. 🤔
I would keep the s23 for one more year get the fold 6.
Great video! i agree with everything said. i just love what i see coming from Samsung. it's just an evolution of the foldables. Apple can keep a design for 10 yrs and no one blinks an eye. keep up the great work Samsung.
Can you compare fold 5 vs honor magic v2, flip 5 vs razr 40 ultra?🙃🙃🙂🙂
Give me that 19.5:9 concept with integrated S Pen. It's literally perfect. Happily trade in my Z Fold 5 that's en route for that.
As much as I loved the physical bezel, I am NOT giving up my 5 Pro. Still the best watch they have.
Could you please let us know about any battery info/improvement for the fold 5 ?
With the Spen case on, will the Fold 5 lay flat without wabble when open and taking notes?
which color in flip Z5 was best in real?
I have had z fold 3 and z fold 4 and the physical improvements are the real improvements. Including z fold 5. The 3 was too narrow~ so the 4 increased the width. The 4 was too thick ~so the 5 reduced the hinge thickness
I ordered the 5.
25w power plug is just $15,not mention $200 price deduction of the class watch 47mm)
I am hoping the chip power gives better life, the UI feature improvement justified this upgrade
Will the screen protector bulge with these variants of folding phones, as my screen protector on z flip 3 developed bubbles within 4 months
wit the galax tablets i just hate that they dont have the ultra with LTE
I’m lowkey thinking of getting that galaxy watch, I have never had one and I currently still use the Apple Watch 3.
I know Jamie won't let me down he'll talk about the Matte Finish on the Z Flip5! RIGHT?!
What matte finish?
Fold 5 - the narrower size works for me, because, as a girl, the grip works better for me.
What do you mean that watch is quarter of a mile behind? Does it under record distance run? 0.25 mile less per how many miles run???
5 miles. 0.25 behind ever since Galaxy Watches track runs. Doesn't mattet which varían.
Hey Jaime, which foldable do you prefer between the Z Fold 5 and the Pixel Fold?
I switchs to fold 5 from xiaomi mi 8
Is it worthed?
Is the faster memory noticeable? They gave us 512gb for $999 on preorder so it should feel quickz
Because they know most buyers will be internet browsing, RUclips, Netflix, gaming.
@@JOHNDoe-gc1fh i know and that's why people would jist buy Ipads... Same Price and the other pne can do more right
I pre-ordered both through my carrier.
Y la pregunta del millon…..
Si uno es usuario de apple y quiere comprar uno de estos nuevos dispositivos..
Y hace el trade in
Como le hace uno para pasar toda la información del iphone al nuevo dispositivo samsung ????? O viceversa ???
Alguien me ayuda? 😅😅😅 cheers
Keeping my Fold 3 because there are no major differences yet.
No trifold yet 😢
I was thinking about upgrading my tablet to the basic S9 ultra I don't know yet maybe around Black Friday time but the prices go down
Well done Jaime
i have flip 3 getting the flip 5 mint green what is a good case thank you sir
Don't say that out loud. They get touchy if you call out Samsung's BS on this channel.
@TheHardknok what Samsung BS? Its either you buy/upgrade or you don't. No one here is forcing you to do squat. Oh I see, you're just here to bithch for no apparent reason. 😂
What's the screen on time of z flip 5?
The Watch 5 Pro has BETTER battery. I want the 6 Classic for the rotating bezel, but I love the big 5Pro battery!
The wider display protype looked so good please Samsung go torwards that direction
I just went to the Verizon store last night to lock in my pre order/trade in. Going from my current iPhone 12 Pro to a flip 5 for free (bc they’re giving $1000 trade in)
*_Z FOLD is Missing these..._*
▪︎ 25w Wireless charging the⌚️ but it would be better if it had Type C charging port, so we don't have to carry around this SLOW charger 👎🏻
▪︎ We should be able to use the 25w Wireless Charger of Watch on the Phone too ♨️
▪︎ 85w Wire Charging 🔌
▪︎ 5000mAh 🔋 if slimmer other Folds have it & have faster charging
▪︎ Camera 📷 should be better than same years Ultra Phone, not last year's Fold phone 😏
CREASE, Wider Front Screen & Inserted S Pen 🤷🏻♂️
I do like that mint green flip 5! Unfortunately my finances won't allow for switching to it yet. So sad!
Every damn iPhone looks the same almost and apple fans aren’t complaining!
bro what was that on 0.39 ?
The zfold5 is not worth upgrading. I chose to get the zflip5 instead. The larger screen is a big incentive. And the upgrade from a Zflip 4 to 5 means I only pay $100 for the upgrade. SOLD!
Man if they threw a bigger sensor higher mp camera It'd be perfect. Telephotos are too slow anyway
Hahah. Are u referring to the first gen pixel fold as undercooked Jamie? Lol
I'm considering the $1000 trade in value for my s21 ultra through t- mobile for the z fold 5 since my s21 is now approaching 3 years old and battery life has slip a little.
Yeah saw that. It’s a good deal
It doesnt which one because the screen crease will buble up after few months or 13 months and samsung wont do shit about it and blame you for misuage. Take it from an experjence z fold 3 onwee here. None of these YTber talks about it, they are only pushing sale so next year samsung will send them free phone.
Had z3 fold since launch. No bubbles or issues yet. Thank goodness it’s been a solid phone.
Have a great day
As soon as the Fold fits a S Pen inside, I'm pulling the trigger.
I would want a zfold5 but im too scared that the inner screen will break from the hinge area on its own like my zfold2 did and make the phone an expensive paperweight pretty much
get insurance
You're talking about the hinge like it's not a big deal. 😂
@@SinclairMoon it's not? Like what's the difference between that and the Google Fold and other Chinese phones that's had it?
@@superiortoall22 the zfold5 is a better phone.
What exactly do you mean lagging a 1/4 mile behind?
The problem with the pen being part of the case and not built in means it's not Bluetooth compatible.
The Tab S9 series is able to charge the pen by outer induction. No need to tuck it in. The fold is just too compact and too complex for there to be enough space in the current state of tech
Trading in my S22 Ultra for the Fold 5. I dont take many zoomed photos so i wont miss the extra cameras much. Cant wait.
It’s exactly the way I feel
@@Pocketnow Plus the $1,000 trade in credit is too good of a deal to pass up.
I feel foldables will sell better when they get a dust rating
For this year: Pixel Fold and Razr 40 Ultra. Better choice
I haven't abandoned Android tablets.
The camera protrusion on the tablet is a total deal breaker for me. Very bad design choice.
Jaime take a nap you look so sleepy my boy😂
I am so sleepy 🤣
id pick Z fold 5 cause its basically a tablet and a phone
I would use the ultra as a dedicated drawing tablet that’s pretty much it😊
I will not be getting the fold. I've had all the rest of them. The front screen is just too narrow for me.
Try opening it. 😉😂
