Bermuda is so freakin awesome. When I did my plugging project, I had sprigs starting to root that were all accidental.

Best of luck! I've had good success taking a crap load of runners and putting them in bare spots. I actually bury the roots on the ones that actually have part of the root on it. Sometimes you can use a screwdriver and poke holes in the ground, push the root portion of the runner in the hole, and tamp the soil so it fills the top hole, and that will work too. 👍

How’s working from home? I agree, great saving the commute and the extra time in the yard

It has its ups and downs. I get more done but have to be conscious to taking breaks.

I did this by accident this yr. filling in a low area it became where I dumped bagged bermuda clippings (It got away from me a few times) the dump area was 3-6 inches of sand I really think this worked in that area. Maybe not, just seemed for such deep sand it filled in rather quickly.

It would have been good to put a topper on it to keep moisture on it

why not just pull plugs and transplant ?

The TifGrand spreads rather slow. To get complete coverage by the end of the season would need plug spacing of less than 6 inches.

failed because it wasnt sprigs, just long grass, sprigs must be ripped/pulled from the ground. You needed runners lol

Put some compost on top of it, it will do two things.
    1. It will keep the sprigs more moist
    2. it will fertilize the sprigs
The compost I use is deodorized steer manure. I use the deodorized one that way I don't have to worry about the smell.
If you need to rest when you are done harvesting just put the sprigs in a bucket of water. Don't leave them in there too long, I actually had mine in water for three days and it smelled like someone blew up the bathroom.

Good idea! I can also confirm the humbling power of green waste left in a bucket of water for a few days.

I will never understand this weed you guys call grass 😕

    • @matthewinga9546
      @matthewinga9546 3 года назад

In the part of the country where we live (Georgia) it grows prolific, we have heat and drought. Many other grasses can’t survive here.
So we learn to cultivate it and make it a lawn-
It’s easy to take care of.
