Monsieur Persolaise what a joy to watch your livestream today. I had to dip in and out and rewatching now. I just love your discussion and analysis - demonstrates your true passion and knowledge which is contagious for a scent lover like me 😉. Scent is so tied to our old brain / limbic system which regulates among many things our memories and as such is linked tightly to our awareness of circadian cycles (day time scent, evening scent) and life cycles (birth, youth, marriage, death etc…) Cacharel Lou Lou late 80’s is my teens - sensual, wild, heady 🤣🤣🤣 Those were the days!! Completely to see how a perfume such as the Mugler Cologne can evoke the future. In a similar vein for me was Métal, Paco Rabanne and I wonder how that would stand up now, would it still be “futuristic” or “passé”? I have an unopened bottle stored can’t bring myself to open it. It is a favourite. My “current” sultry /heady summer scents. 1. Kythnos - Couvent de Minimes by Amélie Bourgeois: Top: Lavender, Heart: Thyme, Base: Patchouli, Vetiver. I’m a patchouli lover and I love the dry down. I get so many compliments when I wear this. 2. Ginestra - Santa Maria Novella 3. Spezie - Villoresi 4. Eau de Patou - sadly my bottle has turned and will have to be retired, it’s pre re-release 2014. Am looking forward to trying a few of your recommendations… Amourette, Etruscan Water in particular!
Vintage azuree in the pure parfum is one of the best hidden gems of all time. I cant believe it was marketed towards women!! I have to get my nose on EW. Cheers... loved the ghosts in glass quote as well.. gave me chills -Ramsey
@@Persolaise so i looked on the bottom of my azuree bottle and it says pure fragrence spray. I know there is a difference between the bottles with the gold on the top quarter of the bottles and the ones with out the gold on the top of the bottle. If you are into vintage fragrence hunts i highly recommend hunting down a bottle while you still can. -Ramsey
this was a particularly entertaining video-one of your best. the tangents and bon mots were out of this world. very much looking forward to a francesca bianchi interview with you. she's charming and whip smart-she tends to match her interviewer so definitely need to bring your A game and the conversation will be golden.
I am a huge fan of La Panthere EDP. I love wearing it to work. I have been eying the Eau du Soir version because I thought that it was enough for the weather here which is warm most of the year. I live in the Caribbean. I never knew there was an extrait version. I heard your description of Le Parfum version. So I am thinking it could be too much for a tropical evening type of weather even with a fresh breeze. Am I right? Thanks for your input. Great video as always.
Hi Persolaise. Did you try Cartier "La Panthere EDP", and if so, what did you think of it? For example, do you think it's very different from the Parfum or the EDT? I tried a sample of the original version of the EDP, and I like it. I think it's high-quality. I've heard it recently got reformulated, but I'm not sure if it's for the better or the worse. I want to own one of the "La Pantheres" but I'm not sure which one yet.
On Labdanum and its use in Leather accords: my mother had a spat of acute dermatitis and would use Labdanum essential oil to moisturize and SPF her skin before going out one summer. The smell of concentrated Labdanum in the opening is the most high-pitched, whiny, terpenic smell verging on paint thinner. However, in the dry down, it has this opaque, fatty, resinous scent that (I kid you not) hits the back of your throat as almost *goat/lamb fat* It makes sense because goats in the mountains will eat Labdanum and it will form a weatherproof layer around their hides that keeps them warm and wicks away water from their coats.
Another great list! I love Le Lion, but I’m not able to wear it when it’s been so hot. Really looking forward to pulling it out when we transition to fall. I just got a bottle of Frederic Malle’s Le Parfum de Therese, so that and Carnal Flower have been my go-to summer fragrances.
Absolutely adore your reviews. I've been binge-watching your reviews this past week. Wearing a sample of Cartier La Panthere now. Not my usual scent profile yet-I am falling in love with La Panthere-this scent is magical on my skin. Enjoyed the review-I and I'm finding the fragrance absolutely luscious. I see a FB in my future! Love tuning in. Completely off the subject of this review; have you smelled any of the Van Cleef & Arpel fragrances? (Delicious scents! Try Rose Rouge and Orchide Vanille).
Great episode as always, thank you! Parfum d’Empire is on my list to explore as well, love Azemour Les Oranges - fantastic orange chypre. They don’t have a retailer in the UK anymore I believe, Les Senteurs said they are currently selling the remaining stock because the brand decided not to trade in the UK due to Brexit :(
Hello Dariush!! Had to go back and catch the video, as I, unfortunately, caught the live on its halfway mark today. I gave up on signature scents years ago (owning my olfactive schizophrenia fully), and proudly have perfumes for various seasons, moods, occasions, and time of the day. This summer, I am hoping to stick to one of your picks (Penhaligon's Orange Blossom), as well as a bottle of D&G's Sicily, which I just grabbed for an excellent price on eBay. These top 10's are great; please keep them coming, entertaining, and informative. Can't ask for more!! 🙏❤️

Enjoyed this video. Some sultry summer favourites of mine that come to mind are Lutens' Fleurs D'Oranger and A Fuego Lento by Frassai. But I haven't smelled many on this list.
Quite surprised when you mentioned "rich thick beef stock" regarding Etruscan Water because that's very similar to what I think of the frag. I personally would use the phrase "almost flowingly gelatinous", like a fatty soup. Totally get what you're saying. 😅 A sultry summer to me sounds like fruity/citrusy leather where Galop d'Hermes and Tuscan Leather (not too dissimilar from Le Cri by Parfum d'Empire) come to mind.
Great episode. Parfum d'Empire is totally underrated, or shall I say, forgotten, as most of their creations date a while back, but are very much worth your time. So many great ones - Ambre Ruse, Cuir Ottoman, Iskander, Yuzu Fou, Equistrius....and many more I haven't tried.
Sorry I missed you live. I’m betting on Le Lion going wire to wire from beginning to end of 2021 as the best release of the year. Anytime I can have Coromandel and Cuir De Russie simultaneously, I feel quite privileged. My nose for some reason senses Sycomore in there somewhere as well. Another educational and rich episode, thank you !

Which do you prefer out of Eau De Soleil Blanc and Soleil Brulant? I smelt a sample of the former and was very impressed. I haven’t had a chance to smell Soleil Brulant yet, but I’m intrigued by the fact it doesn’t have the coconut note.
When I was 18 (56 years ago) l could only afford drug store perfumes. I loved wearing Chantilly on hot, summer evenings. It was so sweet and powdery so why I liked in the summer is a mystery. I now enjoying Chanel 1957, #19, and Gucci III. Responding to the meat comment, some perfumes smell like bacon to me. I may have a brain tumor🥓!
I love Sex and the Sea Neroli for summer I go a lot to the Ocean in the pasific of México like one's a week and I love that, In this last year I found that the extrail of Samsara from the 80s smell wonderful in the ocean and Delina Exclusive layer with Oud Mineral of Tom Ford is out of this world. I really love your reviews thank you I started to appreciate Samsara and I decided to buy and old Joy and now I found a new 💕 I love Franchesca Bianchi but I think you need a refined nose to appreciate her creations she is above 🙌
