Hi Mr. P - Sujata here. I disappeared for months - went on a whirlwind but intense perfume journey to gain some wisdom perfume-wise before I bothered you any further with my novice nosed questions! I did reappear on your celebration of 20K subscribers video a short while back but you missed my brilliant question (ha ha - only teasing - I know how busy you are!). Anyway - here - it's such a total coincidence - but I just got my son (age 22) Jaipur Homme - for Christmas! I got my nose on it a couple of months back - and thought it was high time to educate my young man on young men's scents beyond the top five modern day silly ones. I hope he likes it - (I sure do!) - and I hope it reminds him of our family's visit to Jaipur - back in December of 2019. We, like you, had such a wonderful time there! Anyway - thank you as always for your wonderful reviews - I and all your loyal 20K+ followers delight in them - and always always learn so so much from you! Wishing you and yours a safe and joyous and peaceful holiday season! Enjoy...
I woke up this morning to the most gorgeous trail of L'Heure Bleue wafting through my house! You inspired my husband to give it a try as his scent of the day, and it was beautiful on him. There are only a few fragrances he selects on repeat. While his 'daily drivers' are wonderful (Bel Respiro, You or Someone Like You, Gris Dior, Jicky, and Un Jardin Sur le Nil), I lament that I don't often experience other favorites on him. When I asked what prompted the branch-out, he gave a wry grin and said "I heard it was a good one to try this winter." Bravo, Persolaise!
Christopher Sheldrake is my perfumer of Winter 2023. He has a unique gift for creating a sense of weightiness and depth while maintaining both luminosity and grace. Ambre Sultan is a big, dense perfume that somehow remains light on its feet. Christopher Sheldrake is a true master.
Oh dear, Persolaise. You made me cry at the end, with your beautiful speculation of what we might feel at the moment we leave this earth. What a stunning image to attach to L'heure Bleue, and even independent of the exquisite perfume, an expression of hope I will hold in my heart. No way to thank you for this. I'm so grateful you're in our lives! Happy Holidays to you and Madame P. --Linda
Love these top tens! I'm wearing Nahema today, which I learned about from your channel. I struggle with rose notes but was determined to find one that works. Nahema is the only rose centered scent in my collection and I love her in this cold weather. Thank you 🙂
What a fun video! Wish I could sample La Myrrhe. I only know Five O'Clock Eau Gingembre, and Feminite du Bois, which can be somewhat meditative. I love Youth Dew, it has the most beautiful multi-note sillage. YSL and Chanel gave it their tributes with Opium and Coco. Seems Opium has suffered over the years with so many reformilations. So glad Lauder keep making Youth dew. Imho Chanel 22 can be meditative and authoritative, and of course the church candy for Catholics, Avignon. Thanks for your delightful videos.
Although I love La Myrrhe, L'Heure Bleue is the scent I enjoyed hearing you discuss the most. To me, it somehow captures the magical moment when a woman, running late for a show, drops her handbag on the steps outside of the opera house. Her makeup and perfume go flying in a powdery explosion and blanket the civil vespers in majestic distress. A moment in time.
Always love tuning in. Love the description-Guerlain L'Heure Bleue!!!!!!!! I watched this clip and blindly bought a bottle based on your comments!! It arrived today. How did I never know of this fragrance? This is the most beautiful, well-balanced-stunning-alluring and sensual fragrance I've ever experienced. Thank you beyond words for helping me find my signature scent. I’m stunned at the majesty and sensuality of this scent. Wearing it now and I’m at peace! My scent - timeless. Not ready to depart the earth yet I love this scent on my skin. Happy holidays 🥂💖
Checked Jovoy's stock of Rauque during the live stream. They had some stock available. Checked again few minutes ago and it is out of the stock. I blame you Mr. P. I wanted to smell it before making a purchase.
Bought The Afternoon of a Faun on your recommendation and love it. I'm always taken to a damp, mossy forest when I wear it and can actually taste the moss (no, I'm not spraying it on my face). Not only does it engage my sense of taste, I always imagine small birds and butterflies when I wear it. Wonderful scent and wonderful you for introducing me to it. Thank you.
Well, Knize 10! Absolutely love it. Very hard to find in the US. Looking forward to your show on it. Happy holidays to you Sir & Madam Persolaise, John
I didn't know aldehydic myrrh existed, sounds right up my alley, I will check out La Myrrhe. I love incense too but I only got the salty celery seed in Dzongkha and didn't smell through that! And gotta check out Youth Dew bath oil !! Thanks Mr. P :)
Great choices and insights, as always! I love L'Heure Bleue, and I bought my husband a bottle of Jaipur several months ago, and he liked it enough that I got him a backup bottle. Fortunately, it's quite economical these days.
@@o2xb I quite like it! It just teeters on the edge of animalic without ever going to far, and just when I think it's a bit linear it shifts ever so slightly, becoming warmer and slightly slightly sweeter as it gets progresses.
I love your list. L'Heure Bleue was my second perfume, bought in 30ml extrait by my then boyfriend so it is special in many ways. The SA at Guerlain insisted I should get Chant d'Arômes but finally agreed l'HB suited my skin. I have it in all vintage concentrations, and Wear often the Parfum de toilette because its sillage is particularly memorizing.
Beautiful list. Rauque is the only one I haven’t smelled - obvious reason. Sooo tempting to hunt for a bottle now. Sounds exceptional. Although, I should hunt for a sample first. Leather doesn’t always agree with my skin’s ph level.
Really interesting that you mentioned Mitsouko, because Mitsouko is the only perfume that makes me think of the end of time. Complete Zen, like a Shinto shrine. If there's certain melancholy about L'Heure Bleue, Mitsouko just says "nothing matters anymore".
I just blind boight Rauque, im just gonna take the plunge! Im not sure if I'll love this.. haha but it sounds beautiful and lively and bizzarre and intracate and floral and leathery, wondrous and artistic. I know im a fan of vintage inspired mens scents, i hope this might be close to that in a sense but also very much its own thing
Hello Persolaise, Beautiful list as always. Could you please mention again the youtube channel you had mentioned which discuss about the ways of training the nose?
Update : After having purchased Rauque (from Mr.P's recommendation), I am thrilled with the scent. It reminds me, somewhat unsurprisingly, of Fumarie Turque from Lutens. The tobacco is toned down and greener, but the combination of that scent with the leather and the hay is a lovely surprise. Many people remark that the opening is better than the dry down for them, but I'm in the opposite camp. The drydown is somewhat sweeter and closer to the Lutens, which I love. They're not the same in any sense, more like half-brothers. All this to say, thank you for the recommendation! In the box were also samples of Les Indemodables Patchouli Noisette, Amouage Lineage and Angelos Creations Olfactives Karikia.
When I think old wise soul, I think Marienbad by Prada, 31 Rue Cambon, Al Qurashi blend (Abdul Samad Al Qurashi), and Patchouli by Jouri (a high-end Emirati brand). I hope you get to review these Middle Eastern brands at some point ❤

Your themed top-10 videos are some of the best perfume content on RUclips. Thank you!
That’s so kind - thank you.
L’heure Bleue has always been a love for me. I was lucky enough to find an unopened vintage bottle years ago and that was just pure magic in a bottle.
Gosh - treasure that bottle!

My Jaipur Homme EDP seems to have got even better after a few months. I really noticed those rich resins. Love it

Omg I also got a sample of Rauque and I am in love! Smells like the set of Metropolis, futuristic through a vintage era lens.
That’s a terrific description.

Classic Indian rose infused in sandalwood attar represents timeless wisdom to me.
A heavenly combination.
Really been enjoying wearing Rauque in the cold. I've been dying to try La Myrrhe for ages but sampling Serge in the U.S. has become so difficult.
Ah, that’s a shame. I wonder why that’s happened.
