Amouage Gold Woman (at the 15:00 minute mark)
Guerlain Nahema (at the 20:00 minute mark)

Serge Lutens Feminite Du Bois (at the 30:00 minute mark)
Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan (at the 37:45 minute mark)
Chanel Coromandel (at the 43:30 minute mark)
Chanel Allure Sensuelle (at the 47:45 minute mark)
Tauer Perfumes Le Maroc Pour Elle (at the 51:00 minute mark)
Guerlain Shalimar (at the 55:50 minute mark)
A few links related to the video:

Portrait of a lady leaves the most noble, beautiful and enticing sillage on a lady. It's like an Ottoman princess walks by bathed in rose water, with her clothes perfumed with fine incense. Totally captivating and it's alluring aura tickles my heart and puts me in a trance of pleasure. You simply have to follow the trail, overpowered by bliss. Ugh, I love it so much I want to cry!
    It is perfection.

Genuine thanks.

I stumbled upon your videos recently, and I just love ending my day with a new episode. I have a passion for perfume, and really appreciate the discussion-like format (so to speak), and how wonderfully informative, without an ounce of pretension, you present opinion, knowledge, and postulation. I gaff when viewers get derailed with your wardrobe, but then I see this, and my first thought is 'Great Shirt!'. Thank you for what you do, and for all the work your wife must do, too!

I was intrigued by the care you took in placing the bottles exactly right for the most esthetically beautiful presentation...moving each bottle, ever so slightly, to make sure the colors were reflecting the colors in the purple flowers on the bureau. I have just discovered your videos and I am truly enjoying them very much. You are even inspiring me to give #5 another chance...and that is saying something, for sure.

Chanel no.5 is fantastic. Absolutely gorgeous. I have always loved it and used it from time to time. But I also tried to find what I couldn't describe in it. About 15 years ago I read that Coco Chanel had visited the polar circle in spring and wanted to recreate that feeling and smell in No.5. It made perfect sense. The cold and warmth in it. The gentle veil of lilacs. An airy freshness. I completely agree about it mirroring the epitome of French elegance and beauty. But No.5 also has a deep, earthy side to it. And a spring playfulness and joy. After I read about Coco Chanel's experience I made it my spring perfume, and ever since this time of year has turned out to be when I receive most complements for wearing it. People don't recognise it, and there is no doubt it reacts completely different to the skin during spring. I feel like I'm revealing a precious secret here, but I hope others will experience this sweet sensation as well.

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  Год назад

Thank you so much for this. There’s definitely a sense of coldness in No. 5. It’s part of its mystery, I think.

I never gave Chanel no 5 a chance as a younger woman... I think it's because I "took against it" in the EDT form which is even now my least favourite. Within the last decade a close friend started wearing the EDP version and I loved it on her. Now, at long last,
I know why it's so popular. It's so great to have recently acquired both the extrait & the EDP.

And what an astute observation, in regard to the difference between modern classics and the retro classics; the legibility, luminosity, and transparency now versus the abstraction, the coyness, and artifice of yesteryear in relation to women's position and autonomy (agency) then and now. Marvelous.

I'm with your mother, much respect, but Chanel No. 5 gives me a headache. The aldehydes also don't remind me of champagne in any way (although I've certainly gotten the feeling of champagne from other perfumes). I still try it on skin once a year or so to see if my perceptions have changed. Even the L'Eau formation isn't for me. I don't think I would attribute this to age, as Apres L'Ondee and L'Heure Bleue are favorites. Beloved Shalimar is almost 100 years old.

I'm nearly 70 yrs old and I have never smelled chanel no. 5, mainly because the only place I can smell this is in a department rtment store where I feel quite intimidated. By the women that sell or represent this brand, you are instantly judged by your looks, clothes etc etc, being a plain looking person without much confidence I feel I've missed out on experiencing such a classic scent which I could never afford, but would have liked to at least sniffed, I really appreciate your knowledge and interesting banter, from Australia, ps please don't read this out, it's actually a bit embarrassing but u fortunately true...........

I never quite made friends with No. 5 until one day, (20 years ago) when I generously dabbed my shoulders with it before work. I wore a knitted cotton top that day. No.5 once warmed by skin wafted up to my nose sporadically throughout the day. It was heaven. I am in southern U.S. so I can only pull off the edp in cool weather. My year round No.5 is Eau Premiere because it stays fresh in hot weather. I love the orangey note at the beginning, and the subtle Iris base. I can still get some jasmine and rose at the end. Portrait of a Lady, I first tried on my trip to NYC, at the legendary Barney's perfume counter. I purchased Feminite du Bois that day! I love it, especially at Christmastime. I prefer the older bottle design too. Would love to hear your thoughts on Apres L'Ondee, and Jardins de Bagatelles. Thanks for your great video.

What a great selection! By the way, I am so glad that I just discovered your channel!! To me every concentration of Chanel N°5, edt, edp und p, smells slightly different. My favourite is the perfume concentration with notes of warm skin, but the more cirtusy edp is also great. Unfortunally my collegue doesn't like to smell it on me, so I can only wear it in my free time.

I have a 1980s EDC of No5. Having tried all the other iterations, I thought that maybe THIS would be the one, but no. I find it boneless, sour and just not very interesting. Sure, it's very pretty, but that's not really what I'm after. So, a no from me.

I am a new subscriber to your channel and binge watching already, what a breath of fresh air compared to other perfume reviewers you are, a true professional nose. Just thought I should mention that first!! On A La Nuit, yes thankfully you can still find it on his own site (price up to $235), and the bottle has changed (sigh). You did mention you liked his new one in your Happy Perfumes episode, did you mean Fleurs de Citronnier?
