I have the same engine and usually drain out around 3.7 to 3.8 litres of oil when engine is warm. Even 4 litres prove too much. I would add around 3.5L first and then top up by checking with the dip stick.
Hi dude, I'm driving a BWM E90 318i. I have speed fluctuations on cold starts and after the engine warms up somewhat, the tank ventilation valve starts to chirp. Do you possibly know what it could be? Would be really nice of you if you could tell me something about it. Thanks a lot

Inspect your heat shield it might be the primary cause.
Very easy fix. Search and you will find. Its a clips from a VW that fits. Costs app 6€
