- To those of you who missed the date on the video… this was an April fools joke. I’m a little concerned how many thought it was real 😅😅😅
In today's video, we show you how to do a proper oil change on a BMW F80 M3! This process is very similar to what you will see on a BMW 328i and 335i as well. As you can see in the video we only show a high level overview of this process because of the time it takes to do an oil change on a BMW. If you're interested in a more detailed video of this process, let us know in the comments! Be sure to check us out at KiesMotorsports.com for parts and tools used in this video and we appreciate you watching our April Fools video ;)

I followed your instructions, now my car wont start
lol RIP 340i
Just add some more blinker fluid and it should start 😂
🤣🤣 lol wtf!!
JB the man👍
lmaooo smh
Had this playing as I was getting breakfast ready. When I heard, “…to remove the engine” I was like DaFuq!? Then I remembered the date…. Well played.
I was legitimately confused for a good minute. Forgot the date. As soon as I heard remove the hood 30 seconds in…I wondered what the heck was going on.
I guess that is one way to change the oil. If it was a Ferrari service, not that far fetched at all.
He really got me, I was like what is happening?!
The same here! I thought: He is NUTS! But then I understood the joke… he got me for 2 secs 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Lol I didn’t figure that out until I saw your comment.
@@justin1321 The hood removal, and I'm still like "ok?" Lol
Damn I thought this was just an April Fool's joke but the dealer still charged me $180
😭😭
Yup it’s a joke but nobody is laughing
Whats wrong with 180$ ?Its to cheap,BMWs just arent for people who even think what a oilchange will cost!
I have a 15 year old Z4 2.5i and the previous owner spent a fortune each year on BMW services and it only has 34k miles on the clock now, TuT TuT BMW for taking advantage of the previous lady owner!
@@brunoheggli2888 by that logic my friend the middle class shouldn't buy BMWs, meaning the 1,2,3 and 4 series are for rich people
I work at a BMW Service center as a porter. I work with the mechanics everyday. Can confirm this is the BMW way to doing and oil change. When they detail a car they just replace the entire car tooo
This is brilliant! (The sad thing is that 95% of BMW owners believe this is the work required)
Exactly
In our shop, to reduce the risk of damage to the body or the engine by removing it, we mount the entire car on a rotisserie. By inverting the complete assembly we can drain all fluids at once and find any loose change lost under the seats. Cheers!
That’s how my garage does it. Super fast and one stop shopping.
Lmao
😂
I can’t believe you guys actually pulled the engine for that! This was so entertaining to watch 😂
yeah, I was hoping he would put bigger pistons and stuff while it was out but hey, just an oil change 😔
I, assuming they gonna take out the engine anyway for something else
Well....since the engine is now out, it wouldn't hurt to change the real main seal while we are at it.😁😁
When I replace oil I also remove rear end. Makes an easy access
Lmao
That’s so much of a hassle. I got 1 ton crane 🏗 to turn my 4 series upside down to drain the oil. Was much simpler job.
That is a lot easier than having four friends lift up the car. Cool, thanks my dude. 👍😂
WOW!! That is impressive. I never knew how much went into a BMW oil change. All of a sudden $179 don't seem soo expensive. I'll never complain about their prices again.
Just doing this now. Can I ceramic coat the inside of engine to make it go faster? Obviously I will power wash first. Guessing it’s better to rinse from the breather hole at bottom. Great video.
In all seriousness, what is the torque spec for a radiator cap?
I loved it when you rotated the engine to drain it! Inspired! We all need a sense of humour when visiting the dealership! Nice job.
I absolutely love Kies’s dedication to April fools every year 😂👏🏼 had such a great laugh this morning. Love it!
I was completely lost until this comment 😂😂
I really felt for this😭 I’ve had my f82 for 2 weeks so I’m fairly new to this platform
Do we need to pull out the drive shaft when changing tyres?
For a moment there I was like wow I’ve been really cutting some corners when doing my oil change
How did you take out the engine without losing all of the oil? I lost it after the valve cover gasket blew.
Why would u lose any oil? Why would oil need to go anywhere besides the engine as long as the oil cooler is connected, there’s no oil lines that go anywhere elsw
The best April fools prank ever😂😂😂😂
What’s the torque spec on the hood bolts? I’m doing my oil change today and want to make sure I do it right.
It's the details that make the difference!
14.9 but DO NOT go all the way to 15
Depends on the ambient temp. That's why I prefer to go with the bolt stretching measure rather than trq specs. Also I would get new bolts from the dealership with every oil change (every 500 miles at the most).
ahahaha
The contribution comments is all hilarious. Thanks everybody. 😂🤣😂🙏
I have just drained the oil in my bmw 4 series, but without removing the engine
Should I contact BMW for a new car? Worried I’ve damaged mine beyond repair
So did you get 1000hp out of your engine?
Should I use peanut or vegetable oil ?
I put the oil resirculation valve on the wrong side!? What do i do?
what oil do you guys use for your bmws?
Exactly how I change my oil in my n54 all the time 🤣..good stuff fellas 👌
I had the check the title to make sure I was still watching the oil change video. Very very funny stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it
Lol!! The commitment.. The usually straight-faced delivery had me going for so long till you rotated that engine..😂
I'm stuck on the one bolt, next to the two bolt. What socket screwdriver wrench pliers do I need for that? Also, is Wesson a gool oil to use?
What viscosity do you recommend for wiper fluid?
I would go with 15w40 should help lol
@@floridaheat305 thanks. Scented or not scented? 🤪
The upside down engine had me 😂🤣
For a second i thought this was serious i then realized it was April fools haha
I'm sitting in the doctor's office watching this killing time w/o sound and w/o captions. It's possibly even stranger just watching the video and trying to figure out whats going on
Very informative video thanks Brian
Next time can you please show how to change the blinker fluid, I never use the blinker but I heard the fluid needs to be changed every 6k miles to avoid catastrophic engine failure like a bent rod😪😪😪
How many takes did you guys do to keep a straight face?? LOL Great job on the Video.
Had me going until you removed the engine. Props to keeping a straight face!
Why do you need to pull out the engine? I have an E90 and have had other BMWs and I don't think it's ever been needed to do that for an oil change. Is this just for the next gen ones? or is this something only the dealers do?
April Fools.
Hold one does BMW dealership removed the engine to do an oil change ? I’m very curious
@kiesmotorsport what color code is this red M3?
😂😂😂😂 yoo u had me dead ass like “the hell” , April fools 😂😂😂
Torquing the oil breather plug to spec got me😂😂
What type of oil is best?...Liqui Moly?
Thanks guys for the info. I’ll be doing this this weekend.
OMG, do you really have to remove the engine just to change the oil? Is this normal for all M series?
No. It's a April Fool's joke. 😅
I had to go back and play it from the beginning again, I was like “wtf it’s going on”. Well played, very funny!!
Awesome! You had the forethought to film this while you were chasing 1000HP and filmed it in between.
Well played sir. Random - please do a B58 swap for the N55. I haven't seen this done yet for the 335i . If anyone can pull it off, it would be you and your team.
The best April Fool Joke I have seen in a long while Lol 😂😁🤣
Hmm.. I have a 2017 540. The dealership only charged me 99 dollars for an oilchange. I'm in NY so I don't know where you guys are located.
Interesting video I just don’t understand why take out the engine ?
😂I was loosing my sh**. I was thinking there's now way in hell I've been doing it wrong 😅 thanks Bryan!
This is the most creative automotive joke I have seen, ever. I was not prepared 😂😂😂
You guys are misleading so many people with this. The correct way is to use BMW's engineered 'slow drain' technology which drains the oil over the correct change interval out of the oil filter housing. Once the oil has all drained out, it's time for a change.
Keep an eye on the handy belt slippage indicator.
Mine drains more efficiently by also leaking from the valve cover gasket. It also keeps the ground cleaner by burning up the drained oil on the exhaust manifold. That’s also a nice conversation starter by prompting people to ask “is your car on fire?”.
Lol this was a good one 😂keep up the good work👍.. April 1st
I’m not gonna lie boys and girls. It took me quite a few minutes of real confusion before I realized what was going on here. You got me.
Great April fools video. 👏
Bruh! You had me going there.. hahaha good one
Last time around I simplified the process by simply turning the whole car upside down. Can you recommend a product that will remove tire scuff marks from my garage roof.
Best April Fools I have seen. Kudos. Hard keeping a straight face I imagine.
You guys had me going ….I was about to start cursing you guys out. 😂😂😂😂😂
This was freakin brilliant. Cheers!
Did they not sell the F30 320d in the US?
This was too funny. Please do more like this. You had me going for the first 2 minutes.
I look forward to these videos every year. ❤️
This had me at first but then I was like WTF 🤣 one of the best April fools Day Joke ever 😂
You had me for a short time! Great video!
Had me confused as hell lol
Can you please review how to change the Blinker Fluid? My right turn signal just went out!
LOL. As soon as you said " disconnect the battery," I was like WTF????? April Fool's!
I really needed this video! Thanks for a good laugh!!!
Too much effort for April's fool but was worth it, cheers
Kept a straight face the whole way through - well done Brian!
Damn boy, y'all did a full send this year!
lol love the video, im doing my oil change this weekend, now i know what to do. the best diy video on you tube for oil changes. lol
I was WTF is going on? U got me for a moment :)
I was 2:46 minutes into the video until i figured out what's happening 😂
Hahah, you got me for 2 min with this one.
Outstanding effort 👌
The 24.9Nm part is important😂
Indeed….well played, sir! You forgot to recommend that all 4 tires should be new with each oil change! 😉
😄 🤣 Hahahaha.
I thought well maybe they take the hood out for the camera to get a better view but when you said "Once you have dropped the transmission" I cracked!
Is this for all bmw’s or just the M4 series ? Couldn’t u just do a regular oil change without taking out the engine ? Or is the reason they do it just cause they’re picky lol
Y’all got me good, I own an e92 m3 but I’ve never done a f80 and was so confused when started talking above removing the hood and the strut brace, but what gave it away was that I know bmw would charge $1000+ for removing any of that stuff lol
BMWs in general are very easy to change oil in
Can you guys help with a 528i n20 build forged internals the whole 9 parts list
Very informative. This is probably why the base 4 series is $150ish for an oil change around North NJ, but dealers add $100 more when they find out it’s an M. Because the car has 2 turbos.
Literally remove the drain plug, remove filter, replace it, fill it -_-
Lmfao it was an Aprils fools joke, BMW oil changes are easier than most cars. I actually fell for it because I’m watching this video for the first time in August so I had no idea it was posted on April 1st. I just thought they purposely made M cars difficult like that lol
it took me until the engine flip to realize what is going on.
Jokes aside, is that bolt the stock oil drain plug?
This is why I haven't changed my 2016s oil yet. I won't pay their scalper prices, and my lift is made from legos.
Could u make a video on changing a tyre please,
I’m confused 🤣do they really need to remove the engine? Lol I need one done on my F30 340i 🤣wtf Kies
Hahaha what a savage! Too good!!! Got me good on the first part.
This was sooooo funny! The dedication!
Please do a guide for the smaller engine in the 420i.
You had me going for a while..... LOL! Well done! "Engine oil recirculation valve". Hahaha!
You got me buddy, I was like wtf?
What about a blinker fluid diy
Lmao, I was like wtf are they smoking, I thought I skipped over the intended video by accident 😂
I was about 2 minutes in until I figured it out. Got me good!!
Now I know what I've been doing wrong when I change my oil. thanks Kies Motorsports...
LOL...I loved how clean oil came out when he flipped the engine over...LOL Nice! Almost had me though! LOL
I was saying the same, I was like dang he really takes car of his car, that’s some clean oil for an oil change lol
