The Best 100 Proof Bourbon Whiskey War! Does Old Forester 1924 Hold Up Blind?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 14 фев 2024
- We wondered how the new whiskey row launch Old Forester 1924 would hold up to EHT Single Barrel, Knob Creek 12 Year and Remus Repeal batch 5 in a blind. Who's the king of 100 proof bourbon?

Credit where credit is due. This is the first video in a long time that has felt like a roots Bourbon Junkies video. Truly blind, with relatively realistic bottles and well established brands. Not just drinking random craft or overly priced tater bottles trying to justify why they're worthy of attention too or the inflated price tags.
This video reminded me why Bourbon Junkies was one of my go-to whiskey channels for years. Count my vote for more videos like this.
Appreciate the love buddy, funny enough less people are watching this video than the others. Weirdly every review feels like a price justification right now because of the inflation of the market. Always willing to take the feedback into consideration and we will gladly do more whiskey wars!
I miss whiskey wars. Was always my favorite! Do MORE
Knob Creek 12 currently $57.99 at most Kroger stores in South Indy. Awesome.
48 bucks in NY lol
@@ikeyeet8312 Beautiful!
Knob Creek 12 doesn't even exist in MT. Sucks. I've also asked for Early Times BIB and most have never even heard of it. Lol. Only way for me to find these, is when I'm out of state.
fucken allocated in VA lol
@@midairmayhem5792 Got told the Jim Beam rep for Montana doesn't even want to try to bring in rare or special edition bottles. So fun.
Eh taylor and knob creek 12 are two of my all time time favorites
“This is also not easy to find… we are aware” 😂😂
My favorite 100 proof sippers in no particular order: Old Grand Dad Bottled in Bond, Jack Daniels Bonded Rye, Dickel BiB 13 Year Fall 2008, Old Overholt BiB, and Sagamore 6 Yr BiB. These bottles get the heaviest restocking, minus the Sagamore which I just got, but it's way too good to not be in heavy rotation.
Usually not a fan of Dickle but that 13yr 2008 is solid especially at $40-45!
Had a pour of the 1924 at my local bar and while I thought it was good I'm not at all bothered if I don't ever get a bottle at the $115 price point. It really should be about $80.
Ehhh I’m thinking $60 there’s just no finish on it
@@ewhitey18 Yeah, fair. I was thinking $80 just because of the age since 1920 is already about $60 and 1910 is about $55.
I just picked up first bottle of Taylor single barrel last night. Looking forward to opening it up.
Literally just picked up an EHT sib today. Love all the videos
I really enjoy Knob Creek 12. It’s one of my favorite whiskeys and it’s hard to beat the price for a 12-year age statement bourbon.
This was a great lineup, some of personal faves. There are no losers here, all total bangers! More lineups like these please
$60 and easily findable for the KC12. Sometimes that bottle is as low as $50-55 in my area. Absolute steal for the price and I'll say it.. the KC9 is massively underrated for a $32 bottle. For me I find more enjoyment from KC9 and 12 than I do from Eagle Rare. KC15 and 18 are too much bitter oak and not worth the hunt of additional cost.
I like KC18, I think if you find it at MSRP and are a fan of the Beam profile, it can be worth the pickup for a very high age statement bourbon but agreed it shouldnt be a secondary bottle
KC12 is $65+ in Chicago and pretty easy to find. Kinda meh for me even at that price. My favorite is KC15 which I found for $135
Agreed, but even better are their 120 proof single barrels. Had some awesome store picks over the years
Great video. Thanks guys.
Like these videos a lot a it gives me some reference when I'm trying to choose bottles at the store.
I own no joke 30+ Into The AM shirts. They’re the best t shirts I’ve ever owned.
Always makes me smile when I see people out and about rocking into the AM
Why did you leave McKenna out? I have become a huge into the AM fan! Buy it with your monies!
Dan could have had his foot cut off after having FR ‘21 LE and been totally OK with it….great video!
Nice concept
Love the content. Suggestion: adjust the framing on the straight on camera, so that the row of bottles at the top are closer to the top of the frame.
Old Forester mistake was listing 1924 as a Row extension when they should have announced it as LE. EHT is one of Buffalo Trace offerings I always look for. It would be interesting to see if Barrel new Foundation bottle could stand up to these
The only way it makes sense at all to me is if they release a non-age stated version which is basically 4-5 year early times.
Their mistake was not trying to compete with other existing ten years that are all considerably lower in MSRP
Heard there's nothing special about the Foundation.
Old forester presented by knob creek lol. Not surprised EH Taylor won, that’s my favorite.
im pretty sure Fargo is in North Dakota. Just pretty sure I can go look at a map.
I think you're right, don't trust anything we say to do with geography
MN does not, will not, claim Fargo
1 sip everybody knows the rules! Follow up with a mischievous grin...lol
I paid 61.00 for KC 12 at a Walmart in Missouri.
That Remus V, to this day, is one of my saddest bottle kills. Knew I shoulda bought more, so damn good!
Great video boys! How do you think an Old Forester SB 100proof (black label) would fare in this lineup?
Have all these open, except 1924, and agree..
Fab video guys! Okay how's the new little dude!! I hope baby and mom are both doing super well!! Happy wishes are on the way!! Be well!! 🙂
Grumpy most days, everyone is good though
@@BourbonJunkies Little ones have so much to get used to and women get a little cranky sometimes with little sleep and so much happening! It all gets to be tons of fun! Take good care!
I love when you guys are like yeah it fits our flavor profile, you mean sweet deliciousness of the gods??? I'll take the ass steak rather than the filet for sure when buying my whiskey...... I havn't seen a bottle of EH Taylor in 3 years and Eagle Rare in 2. Can we just say its the best stuff and its hard to get and we need more of it..... Great Blind boys!!!!
Don’t think it mattered but Dan’s glens seem just ever so slightly color coded. Black for Remus, Blue for KC 12, and Gold for EHT lol
i noticed that too!
His wife poured this for us, she doesn't care enough to help us out like that
I hope you are okay, Dan. I counted two strokes there. Good viddy!
I can only find one of them. Fortunately, I am a fan of the Beam profile.
Bingo
Sean is like Old Forester 1924 - constantly trying to stay awake in this 100 proof bourbon war! 😂🥃
My Favorite 100 proof bourbon is Bardstown BiB
Sean is not “constantly tired.” He never sleeps. 🧛♂️
It’s been a minute since I checked in to the shenanigans 🥃🥃🥃
I’ve never seen the Taylor at msrp in the wild . The 1924 is what a lot of people asked for I believe. Instead of two 177 series bottles they did it as a whiskey row limited release in a 750 🤔 but the price point is the same.
Fargo is in North Dakota but right on the border of Minnesota.
You guys should’ve thrown in the OF 1897 BiB to see if it beat the 10 year 👍🏻
Saw a RUclips blind where the 1897 *did* beat the 10 Year.
KC 12, Early Times BIB and Bardstown Origin BIB 🤘🏻
Fargo is in North Dakota
If you tried my EHT SB, it wouldn't even beat EHT SmB. I got a dud. So glad I got an extra Remus V. That one should be a legacy bottle for a while with that line.
Impossible task! So many 100 proof bottles.
Remus V slaps the sh!t outa EHT SiB 😂
I have not had the 1924 yet and probably won't @ $120 msrp
Did not expect KC12 to do as well as it did and I can still find it for $55 at Costco!
KC 12 is wildly underrated
I have had the EHT single barrel and it's a banger. I'll never get the OF 1924 I will get a 1920 and 1910 and blend them to get 1915. Have a bottle settling now about three months going to let it sit another month I have smelled it and it is delicious smelling. 115 for a ten year is way out I can get Russell and eagle rare for under 50 in my area. OF is just gouging it's customers.
Just got to EH Taylor for 44 each at wal mart who would have thought
Should have put Henry McKenna BIB in that flight
Do one of these with stuff that’s not hard to find, plz.
Knob Creek 12 year is easily my favorite bourbon that I can consistently find
My #2. Rare Breed is #1 but out of the 100 proof category
All solid bottles, but EHT is just a rock. Always good and worth it for SRP.
i like the word hazelnut
The vanilla you were trying to think of is tahitian vanilla
All four of these are impossible to find in my state unless you win a lottery. So I’m going with KC9, Bowman Single Barrel, 4 Roses SiB, and OF 1897.
JJ Bowman Single Barrel.... my favorite 100 proofer.
Love those so much but never had one beat EHT SB (and they're damn near the same whiskey).
I live in Bowman’s home town. Nice group of people and great whiskey! The glass shortage hurt them pretty badly but they seem to be back. Their Mary Hite Bowman bourbon creme (with caramel!😮) is a sleeper. In coffee, over ice cream, or neat (out of the freezer)-way better than Irish creme… 😊
I usually just stick with Evan Williams. AJ from northwest Ohio
Killed a whole 1924 and have had several EHT SBs and Remus's and none of em touch KC 12 in my opinion.
I swear I never get any of these flavors 😂 gg boys 🍻
When is pours in the Park event ???
What happened to Henry Mckenna BIB?
uhhh fargo is nort dakota ay!!!
All this video proved was OF 1924 isn't worth its MSRP. KC12 is around 70-80, Remus around 90-100 both are easier to find than EH Taylor single barrel for sure. I would agree the EHT msrp of $65 is kinda laughable because it's ridiculously hard to find it on a shelf at that price..
I can often find KC12 for $60 so even further widens the great divide
EH Taylor Single Barrel is $200+ in Atlanta
Good luck finding Remus V though. The other Remus' aren't even close.
EH Taylor single barrel is prominent right now in Houston $67
I have luck finding KC12 in Dallas for as low as $56.
knob 12 for 48 bucksss all day here
I gotta agree with Vampire, I'd gladly take 4 ER10s or 2 EHTSiB over 1 1924. I'd like to see M10 in the blind (not 100proof, I know) to compare to the 1924 age, like KC12...
My apologies if you have answered this many times, but where do you get those single bottle lighted shelves?
We made them it's just a 4x6 that we cut, routed the top edge, toasted with a torch, then stained.
Into the AM needs to offer all designs in all colors; I spend most of my time outdoors and won’t wear black t-shirts
…and Sean is the constantly tired man lol
Honestly.? The sweetest ?
Havent had 1924 but KC12 is my daily/fav along with rare breed so im kinda bias
If you never had Remus repeal V than you don’t know any different. The VII is great for $100😅
Why was McKenna BIB not in this lineup?
I don't think we have a very recent bottle.
Didn't include the McKenna 10...Doh! For me, it slaps the EHT. But great review otherwise!
Another hitter vid from the bourb godz
Four Roses Single Barrel 100?
Great, let me go buy a EHTsib- oh wait, can't...let me go buy Remus V - ah can't find it anymore... this was so useful thx guys lmao
yea the only time I see EHT sib is when it's on a shelf with a $200 price tag lol
@sirjcc I've never seen it that cheap lol usually 250+ in my area
Fargo is in ND 🤣
Why no Eagle Rare? Asking for a friend...
Eagle rare is 90 proof
Barrell foundation
So many edits! (I think we missed a lot of funny stuff on this one>) 😆🤣 Can't deal with $125 Old Forester, sorry...
I’ve been apprehensive on the 1924 since release. Past weekend I got to blind it at a bar thanks to a helpful bartender. Last place. Not very interesting. What hits my palate as “ethanol forward”. Meaning, not much fun to drink, tastes more like ethanol than much else. I was a pass based on stats and price, now I’m an even bigger pass based on experience. $30 bottle rip off, Knob Creek 9 (not even 12) year > 1924. Just IMO.
Too afraid to put Henry McKenna 10 year in there and knock the hype clear off the rest of those bottles 🤣
I think the only bottles we have are a few years old.
KC12 is an awfully good sip.for $60ish
So $100-125 bottles all won!
KC12 is an amazing value
EHT SmB is always a goto but you pay up and has. Market value at $100
Thus why Remus and OF1924 priced their bottles up…
OGD BiB is my favorite value 100 proofer. Can't go wrong at $25.
First
Not a flex
Another video where my shelf contribution not acknowledged….
Never will be
Need to add JJB and Frank August SmB
What about Old Barton 100?
From a value standpoint it's awesome, from a "greatness" standpoint it's just fine.
Wish y’all did milk bideos
Idgaf about the price point 1924 old forester is the bees knees
See I think like you said it is objectively good, but the price point does kill me
@@BourbonJunkies No doubt lol
I think Sean liked 1924 more than he ranked it. 😅
It's good, it would be at Remus 7 for sure
You threw in bottles from years ago? Really?
Two of the bottles you threw in are much more expensive in the real world. What a waste of a video
Hey man sorry you didn't enjoy the video, sorry our free content wasted your time.
You are both such Buffalo Trace fanboys.
I mean aren't we all?
@@BourbonJunkies No. I have never seen an EH Taylor on a shelf where I live. It does not exist to me. I can get a bottle if I work it, but for the most part, no go. And, in other bourbontube, you have folks like Dave at BKingdom who is a Heaven Hill fanboy and Zach who prefers OF, neither raves about Taylor like you two (and I am not saying there is anything wrong with either way!)
Not all 2024 bottles. Completely unwatchable (thank you for the video!)
OF 1924 has to be one of the most over-hyped over-priced 10 year whiskeys in the last 10 years, possibly ever. $115 msrp? GTFOH.
Have you tried it?
Wait until you find out about Old Fitzgerald or even Michters 10 under 100 proof lol
@@joshc3054 Of course and it's not a $115 bottle of whiskey. Secondary prices are already falling. Bourbon hype bs. Until people quit buying decent 10 year age statement bourbon for 200 bucks this bs won't end. That being said, if you love it and want to pay $150 for a bottle I am not judging, to each their own. Just my opinion.
That’s what I thought until I had it. Wow OF1924 was really good!! Of course can we even call it OF? lol
After trying it, 100% agree.
Little bit drunk.
Sleep deprived mostly
In the words of Billy Squier “Stroke! 🚣 Stroke! 🚣”
