Thank you so much for the awesome reviews Captain Drone!, after watching multiple videos on your channel, I finally chose my own drone ( A DJI mini2). So again thank-you kindly for the awesome content, and the great reviews!.
Seems pretty good for a drone from a mid-range brand. Having active track gives it a big advantage over the DJI Mini line-up, but it still needs polish as the failed RTH demonstration shows. Now, let's see what the Hubsan Mini has to offer and I hope it'll be reviewed here on this channel!
First, congrats on 200K subs...that's amazing. The Fimi Mini is looking like a pretty good buy for the $$s. It's nice to see them include all the smart flight features (Smart Tracking, Waypoints, etc.).
Congratulations on 200K Steve. Looks like a good drone not from dji for once. That’s pretty rare. I think dji still rules but it’s nice to see other manufacturers making quality products.
The SAR mode is a winner for me! I don't know why more drones don't have this feature. I appreciate that it may not be very useful for you sophisticated city folk but if you live in a small community isolated in the wild, empty country having GPS co-ordinates is vitally important. We don't have the resources. We often go to a new location with no line of sight, imperfect maps, no situational awareness to search for a lost soul but rarely do we have "eyes in the sky" that give us a good overview of the terrain, obstacles, where our vehicles and personnel are searching. Sure they are equipped, vehicle and team with GPS but the ability to direct them by radio to a spot of interest or better still, spot the lost person and send to the exact co-ords of the drone above their head is a life saver. Our terrain is often deep sand or scrubby bush covered hills and gorges, searching by foot is slow, searching via vehicles is difficult. Having a drone to quickly cover hiking paths or following tracks in the sand is great with a camera able to distinguish between man and animals. We often do a quick search before switching to intensive metre by metre. Do DJIs display current GPS co-ords?
I’m going to rag on you every single time you wear these glasses. Every, single, time. Lol Love your reviews! Looking to score some captain drone stickers!!!!!!!! 🤞

Hey Steve! I love your videos from Pakistan, i was wondering should i get Fimi x8 mini or DJI Mavic Mini 1? I'm 16 and a beginner, I'm not gonna use it for professional use just as a hobby. I was thinking of Mini 1 as DJI is a famous brand. Tell me what you think?
I've noticed on other reviews problems with the horizon level and shaking at times maybe in the wind. Other than that it seems pretty good. Could got see if your done has those same issues? It seems to not always be on every drone. Like my fimi x8 2018 I didn't have the horizon issues but many did. The only issue I had is it wasn't very stable in hover but flying out it did great.
You always seem to pack tons into you rreviews. Thats great. I have the X8 Mini. I can not seem to get good video. Not even close to what I see here. Mine is so over saturated. What settings do you have on? Video Quality?, Colour, WB, etc???
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 : You must have a unique X8 Mini then. The majority I have seen have naturally over saturated video when factory defaults used. I have to use F-Log and go down to -.03EV to get close to what I see in your shots.
For a first time camera drone do the fimi's intelligent flight modes make up for the gimbal issues ? The crooked horizon seems to be an easy enough fix, but the turn off for me is the jumping upwards I see people complaining about. Stuck between this and the mini 2
Both have different features. FIMI makes their MINI for people that don't want the DJI no fly zones and no ability to follow you. DJI Makes their mini to fly farther.
Captain Drone. After I met you, I await your video reviews about drones. I no longer feel like entering other channels. you are very good at what you do, I congratulate you!. I would like to see a image quality comparison of the camera with the DJI mini 2
Am not asking which one is the best,, am just asking for your opinion of which one you like a little bit more,,and you already flew both of them...Please
Unfortunately my opinion doesn't count. You see I fly "every drone on the consumer market" so I have no preference as long as the drone gets the job done.
The footage looked a bit over exposed but I must say I’m impressed, when the under 250g version comes out I might get one rather then the older mavic mini..
now this is interesting, I was planning to upgrade mini 3 but, this seems to be a good option budget friendly.. same with mini 2 but with obstacles avoidance,. so anyone opinion if is this a Good option? and like is the battery life is good?
There is a bright spot in the middle of the footage and dark around the edges, When the suns at your back there is definitely an over exposed brightness floating around in the footage.I have seen other reviews and the gimble glitches when you stop suddenly or gimble facing down and horizon is way off at times.
Question.. so if I put the square around my kids that are playing soccer ..or even kayaking ..will it still track and follow them even if I am off to the side with the controller? I know some drone you reviewed it follows the controller.
Correct. You would put the drone in LOCK mode so that it sits still in the air and just follows the children up and down the field (left to right). You would not want the drone to move and follow because eventually it will fly into something since there is no obstacle avoidance feature.
Great alternative for DJI but in my opinion hubson zino still the best.. Please do a review on new sg108 pro yan 2 it has 2 axis gimbal and sd card slot.. the old sg108 has no gimbal and no sd card slot i hope they upgrade the camera as well.. Thanks! Love from the Philippines...
That is determined by your country of residence. They decide the laws. Under 250g in Canada you're not required to register the drone but you still must follow the rules ( separation, altitude, controlled airspace, licensing etc)
I bought the fimi mini pro and I have two problems. The smart functions are not activated, and in HOME POINT the fixed little man is activated from where it started and not the mobile point of the controller. If you can help me. I am writing and translating from Greece. Thanks
I love the FIMI software features that I really miss on my mini 2 ... hope DJI will implement them despite their internal product political strategies that might backfire at some point. I still like the improved stability on my DJI ... it is really like nailed to the ground, while the FIMI is moving a bit more, but I also like the FIMI. And Sport mode is really eating up batteries on the DJI as well ... tried to follow my wing in the slowest possible speed, barely above stall ... had to go into sport mode and while my wing used less than 10% of its battery for the same flight the Mini 2 ate up 90% and had to land ... wings are simply much more efficient and more fun to fly but suck when it comes to taking images or any cinematic stuff is very limited to impossible ... wings can't fly backwards or if they do they are out of control :-) Thanks for the interesting review
Just got mini from B&H. Have had it for a week. Happy with all the features except for one problem which will be a deal breaker. I’m getting a wave effect when viewed on my computer. Real bad when the drone is just setting on a table. When in flight it’s more of a jittery effect. Have tried every different resolution and frame rate. Did you see any evidence of that with yours?
It's definitely worth waiting for the pro version. Did you have any problems finding satellites? I remember there were issues on the original Fimi X8 in pre flight prep. I only use android phones too, so hope the issues there are solved. All in all though, an extremely impressive drone. I am seriously considering it. Let's see what the Zino mini is like too.
@B wayne no, thanks for your comment. I might get an ex5 . I actually got a good deal on 2 L900 . We got them 2 weeks ago and they are really fun to fly. I think my next one, I'll spend a little more money and get a better one. Maybe one of the mavics. I'm actually on my way to go fly now. Again, thanks. Capt Drone has some great reviews.
oh, so this model has the usual hover, orbit around you in circle, return home, follow me (is it by tracking only or can it follow where the remote is going ?), and it's really good camera image quality and very similar to the dji mini 2 but for less $ ? someone mentioned the camera can zoom in ? So this mini actually has all the features normally you have to go to the larger heavier models ? Like I'm looking for ? if so, I better grab one before it's gone. Its $499 in Canada.
oh, one more question my friend, it looks like it is better quality camera than the contixo F35 ? Please verify if this is true, as it's my next model I was close to order and want to be sure between the two (size diff. aside)
I would really like to see how it works with that Tripltek tablet, that would let us see how well it works with android. with most gimbal drones the camera stays level with the ground, but I like the FPV drones when they bank into a turn. DJI drones sort of do this (FPV Mode) but its not very smooth. I was hoping you could test the FPV mode so we can see if it banks smoothly in a turn or not.
in my country there are no drone regulations whatsoever....so i think ill be going for the bigger fimi x8 2020.....as far as i remember watching your review it had no issues at all..right ? .just waiting for a good deal
Luke Skywalker s in a Chinese restaurant, but he's really struggling with the chopsticks, just then he hears Obi Wan's voice in he's head " Use the fork Luke," "use the fork ".
Good video Captain. I just wish you covered waypoint mode. I am very interested to know if this little drone has onboard waypoints. That and active track are the only two features that would set it apart for mavic mini. I know you are a busy guy but I hope you will find time to do a little waypoint demonstration. Otherwise, great job! 👍
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Well, that's a good news. I watched several videos on X8 where waypoint flight was demonstrated. However, it was still hard to determine if it is using virtual stick or onboard waypoints. Virtual stick is when waypoints are sent out from the controller to the drone instantly while drone is flying. If connection is lost, the drone automatically goes into return-to-home. Onboard or native waypoints are initially uploaded into drone's processor. When connection is lost, the drone completes its mission and goes back to a starting point. One way to test if it run by virtual stick is to run a simple waypoint mission and somewhere in the middle of flight to turn off the controller. If it is run by virtual stick, it will automatically activate return to home and fly back to you. If it continues going and completes its mission then it has onboard waypoints. This is a big deal. Native waypoint support is very important. DJI used to provide native wayponts on all of its drones until Mavic Air 2 and Mavic Mini. Mavic Air is the last of their drones that supported it. DJI decided to cut corners and make a business decision to stop providing native waypoints on their commercial drones. This will hurt them big time if Hubsan, Fimi and others start making sub 250g drones with native waypoint support. To me a drone is not a drone if it is not fully autonomous. I am sorry to be so particular about this subject but there are maybe 30% of us drone lovers who care about this issue so I would like to find this out for them as well. Thanks Captain! Cool truck btw. I love it! We are lot alike.

No issues with sat or anything to be honest. Works great.
Always super view super blogg.
My favorite channel now. Do you have a review of the L900 pro? I'm thinking about getting one for my daughter.
I don't believe so
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 it looks like a good beginner drone.
@B wayne I just lost my L900. It just took off even with 12 satellites. I hit return to home, and it just flew away. Damn
@B wayne that's cool. I might just do that
I was waiting for the autel evo nano+ but it is limited at 13m/s in sports mode.
That scks for 1000€...
I think i will buy this one
As mentioned in my NANO+ review, all features are coming in February. Sport mode has recently been added.
oh, so this model has the usual hover, orbit around you in circle, return home, follow me (is it by tracking only or can it follow where the remote is going ?), and it's really good camera image quality and very similar to the dji mini 2 but for less $ ? someone mentioned the camera can zoom in ? So this mini actually has all the features normally you have to go to the larger heavier models ? Like I'm looking for ? if so, I better grab one before it's gone. Its $499 in Canada.
oh, one more question my friend, it looks like it is better quality camera than the contixo F35 ? Please verify if this is true, as it's my next model I was close to order and want to be sure between the two (size diff. aside)
With fpv mode what goggles could be used??
I would really like to see how it works with that Tripltek tablet, that would let us see how well it works with android. with most gimbal drones the camera stays level with the ground, but I like the FPV drones when they bank into a turn. DJI drones sort of do this (FPV Mode) but its not very smooth. I was hoping you could test the FPV mode so we can see if it banks smoothly in a turn or not.
that tablet won't fit the controller unless you use a tablet holder
Is this still using WiFi or does it use something familiar to Mini 2's Ocusync 2.0? How's the penetration quality? A Vs Mini 2 would be awesome.
It uses a few frequencies in the 5 ghz range for long distance. Not as good as Ocusync MINI 2 but better in some ways than the MAVIC MINI 1
Great my friend 👌👍
in my country there are no drone regulations whatsoever....so i think ill be going for the bigger fimi x8 2020.....as far as i remember watching your review it had no issues at all..right ? .just waiting for a good deal
The video quality is better on this mini vs the 2020 big brother. The original X8se is also better than the 2020.
@@ertatta why?
Luke Skywalker s in a Chinese restaurant, but he's really struggling with the chopsticks, just then he hears Obi Wan's voice in he's head " Use the fork Luke," "use the fork ".
Dad jokes
Does have remoteID?
i like it! but ive never heard of "RCGOING"
One of the many stores in China (there are about 20 of them that sell drones online). Also if you email them, they actually answer you.
Waypoints on this drone are identical to those shown in my FIMI X8 SE 2020 review.
I love it! We are lot alike.
great review sir
