I'm literally blown away with this drone? Most of the other videos I've watched about this drone has been bad. As far as the connection, and camera a lot of problems, but I see here it's working just fine. I'm impressed with it. Thanks for sharing.
I really wish people would elaborate more on their remarks in these videos. i've seen about 4 videos on these FIMI drones where the youtuber says "its not as good as a DJI" but they dont offer any explanation or reasoning as to why. "its not as good" isn't really helpful. why isn't it as good? is it the video transmission latency? the range? is it even the drone, or is it the app? the controller? what about it isn't as good, or why? Not trying to be an ass, it's just really frustrating for those of us who are looking into FIMI's because we dont want or cant afford DJI. would be nice to know exactly what are the compromises we need to expect to make. EDIT: I ended up getting a Fimi X8 SE 2022 V2 and I can confirm that it is almost as good as a DJI in every way. It’s probably 80% as good as a Mavic 3 classic in every aspect. Video, range, controller, speed, handling, everything. I’d say it’s as good or better than a Mavic 2, even the Pro model. Oh, plus it’s rain and snow proof. Only downside would be the batteries, they only last about 25-30 minutes.
I agree, Im fly dji mavic mini 3 but i still respect other drone companies. Not the ones who litteraly copy, but the ones that are as good as dji like Fimi, Autel Evo…
The Fimi is a great drone for the value. Glad you figured it out. You usually get what you pay for in the drone space. If you're ok with %20 less performance in certain areas for the price then I'd say that's a good fit. An in-depth comparison is for another video...not a specific flight review in my mind. I've done reviews on most of the competition and a statement saying "it doesn't perform this function as well as another competitor" is backed by experience and should be easily noticed if you watch a review of the competition. Glad you enjoy the X8... I sure did 🍻

Just kinda got frustrated after watching your video, Captain Drone, Alien drone and than half chrome (he’s a complete asshole by the way) and not really having any explanations aside from “it’s better” (though HC is obviously because he’s a complete DJI sellout because he gets the highest commission from DJI affiliate links) 😅 not that I expect a 5 minute dialogue on “this vs that” but at least a quick “video quality on X was somewhat smoother, probably due to the higher frame rate” would be very handy. All in all, I won’t pretend that my Fimi x8 is as good as any current gen DJI, but I will die on the hill defending that is is a better price/performance purchase, and competes directly with the top of the line previous gen DJIs (in most aspects, but not all) Regardless, great videos Dustin 👍🏻 been watching for a few months now, keep up the great work.

it is in zig-zag while returning home, but the drone is amazing, I thought it will disconnect the video, but never happen. Great review as always from 1-3 FIMI X8 mini.
I've been enjoying mine, gimbal excellent with a nice flat horizon, good quality video ( use the flat colour option for better recording I've found ). Solid flyer, long flight times, spot lands on a landing pad every time. I'm more into FPV quads and RC planes so wanted a decent small camera drone for a little outlay as possible) I paid £274 delivered .... Excellent value
I had faith the mini would get way out there, as an owner of the larger x8 se I know the Fimi signal can carry a loooong way in optimum conditions. Also I think if it weren't for the wind and if the flight speed were increased a bit it would have covered a good bit more ground, but that is still a good test, some wind is almost a certainty for most flights anyway. Your range test video is quite relaxing. It looks like this year is the year of sub 250 grams drones, we may see a Autel model with obstacles avoidance.
Hubsan actually made a sub 250 with obstacle avoidance. But it's pretty shitty, because they didn't make the Plus version yet. Wait for that to release, and that's what you want if you crave for a lightweight bird with this capability.
Well it is good, but I still prefer my DJI Mini 2 over it as it can go further, and is better. It is a good alternative to the regular mini though as it can go just as far

Thanks for the video. Range is indeed out of this world, but man.. this tilted horizon is like a needle in my eye. And I saw it in other reviews too. No drone is perfect, but this gimbal issue (?) is a deal-breaker for me.
the horizon is not tilted. Hes flying along the side of a mountain. Notice when the water came into view, the far horizon is perfectly level. Pay attention before you embarrass yourself.

Well, you made it out & back in one piece. I think the update might have solved the connection problems, at least, that's what another reviewer felt. I don't like the FPV video ... smeared at the bottom & laggy. I think you've used your android phone with some other UAVs, and they didn't have the smear problem. When it was coming back, 'crab walking' and dithering back/forth, it reminded me of the famous (infamous?) XK X380 'Toilet Bowl'dance ... I've hit the RTH on the X380, and it would toilet-bowl its way back .. much like this X8 did ... but when I got it to where I could see it, I could fly it back & cancel out the toilet-bowl action. (hmmm .. might be time for me to charge up the X380 batteries & take it out for a nostalgic spin). Still recall your X380 video, where you flew over that nude beach ... ha ha! I think that some other 'major players' will be introducing a sub 250g UAV before Christmas, so I'm going to take a wait and see. Nice that 'Will' remembered you & is now a subscriber to your channel. Thanks for the range review ... always enjoyable. Cheers!

I think mini se has more quality on its hardware, for example, the battery. Mini se hase li-po battery, but fimi mini has lithium ion battery just like mentioned in this channel But when it come to camera capabilities, it goes to fimi mini, it can record up to 4k 30fps. While in other hand, mini se only record up to 2.7k 30fps I personally chose fimi mini with pro battery, which has li-po battery. Because it has more range and more video quality than dji mini se Hope that can help bro.

I highly recommend the DJI Mini SE. Cheap as chips ($300) and lightyears ahead of the competition for both the price and video transmission features. Nobody does it like DJI. I fly both professionally and as a hobbyist so I've done my homework :)

At least you got to use it,I didn’t even get to connect the drone and had to send it back to China service is shitty, I contacted them and they mucked around about a month doing not much of anything then asking me to ship it back to China
It lost all video connection several times in my initial flight review at very close distances. Not much justification needed That's just how it went. Maybe the recent updates helped 🍻
When you can't get replacment batteries delivered, that should almost be the end of the review. I've lost confidence with non-mainstream (read DJI and probably Parrot) as I have the Xiaomi 4K Mi Drone, and could never get a replacement battery, and now they aren't available anymore at all.
Congratulations! 2.4 miles with a Fimi X8 must be a new world record! Most people are lucky if their Fimi flies 30 feet without losing connection. You must have received THE good one.
i had the same thought as well but if you stick around long enough to watch the video instead of posting a comment 15 seconds into it and leaving, you'll see he's clearly flying in a valley next to a mountain slope and it's not horizon tilt in the slightest

This is impressive and I'm likely going to buy this as my second drone, I can overlook the smaller issues with this drone considering a DJI as a few extra hundred and I'm no aerial photographer, frankly youre just paying for the brand with a DJI when you have these very decent competitors on the market! DJI Mini SE drops fpv signal at 1.911 miles. But that drone is only 50$ more than the fimi x8. I'm at an impass lol. Do I just buy the generic DJI or go with the fimi x8? Advice drone peoples lol

I have 3 DJI drones never disconnected on me anywhere near that range and it has held up a lot better than some of the other drones I bought like the holy stone HS700e. That was a terrible drone almost crashed into my neighbours house when I tried the follow me feature.
Why was this product made? More expensive than the DJI Mini (2) and the camera... oh lord... everything looks out of focus, no details (this does not look like 4k), the dynamic range is low af... the colors... The parrot disco had a better camera quality. Then the bugs, how it flys... At least your video is great as always.

Filmed on the side of a mountain..just looks that way …the tilted things been fixed months ago after a update

if you catch the drone and turn it to the side it shuts up a lot quicker.
at a 90° angle to the side it knows it is in safe hands and shuts down

At least you got to use it,I didn’t even get to connect the drone and had to send it back to China service is shitty, I contacted them and they mucked around about a month doing not much of anything then asking me to ship it back to China
Much more fair review. I dont think you did it justice in the previous video. I dont think you lost connection, the drone didnt failsafe and rth.
It lost all video connection several times in my initial flight review at very close distances. Not much justification needed That's just how it went. Maybe the recent updates helped 🍻

That RTH action was weird
When you can't get replacment batteries delivered, that should almost be the end of the review.
I've lost confidence with non-mainstream (read DJI and probably Parrot) as I have the Xiaomi 4K Mi Drone, and could never get a replacement battery, and now they aren't available anymore at all.
Even parrot is useless
Really its only dji or autel. Everyone else gave up and have nothing for post sales service

Horizon tilt is bad
It's not a horizon tilt, the area he's filming is slightly elevated. Like a mountain/ hill area. Sorry for my bad English
i had the same thought as well but if you stick around long enough to watch the video instead of posting a comment 15 seconds into it and leaving, you'll see he's clearly flying in a valley next to a mountain slope and it's not horizon tilt in the slightest

This is impressive and I'm likely going to buy this as my second drone, I can overlook the smaller issues with this drone considering a DJI as a few extra hundred and I'm no aerial photographer, frankly youre just paying for the brand with a DJI when you have these very decent competitors on the market!
DJI Mini SE drops fpv signal at 1.911 miles. But that drone is only 50$ more than the fimi x8.

@@fassmcjarrc6894 yea i saw the fimi disconnecting very close from the transmitter. I have 3 DJI drones never disconnected on me anywhere near that range and it has held up a lot better than some of the other drones I bought like the holy stone HS700e. That was a terrible drone almost crashed into my neighbours house when I tried the follow me feature.

More expensive than the DJI Mini (2) and the camera... oh lord... everything looks out of focus, no details (this does not look like 4k), the dynamic range is low af... the colors... The parrot disco had a better camera quality. Then the bugs, how it flys... At least your video is great as always.
